Picks, predictions for all 32 Champ Week men's tournaments

Not all of ESPN's experts picked Houston to win the Big 12 tournament this year. Which one of them picked Iowa State, and why? Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

Thirty-two men's Division I college basketball conferences will begin the process of crowning their tournament champions. The action of Champ Week begins Monday, March 4, with the first round of ASUN games. It will end March 17, with five conference tournament finals -- the Ivy League, Atlantic 10, SEC, American and Big Ten -- mere hours before the NCAA selection committee unveils the 68-team bracket for the 2024 NCAA tournament.

As we transition into the postseason, who will earn each league's automatic bid to the national tournament? ESPN's Jeff Borzello, John Gasaway, Joe Lunardi and Myron Medcalf decided to make public their predictions and debate why the teams they picked are definitely going dancing.

Find all their picks and analysis below, listed in the order in which tickets will be punched.

Ohio Valley Conference

Saturday, March 9, 8 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Jeff Borzello: Morehead State
John Gasaway: Morehead State
Joe Lunardi: Morehead State
Myron Medcalf: Morehead State

Why Morehead State will win: Yes, the Eagles finished the regular season in a three-way tie for first place (with Little Rock and UT Martin) in the OVC. But the three-game losing streak that tightened the race came with Jordan Lathon (15.9 PPG, 37.3% from the 3-point line) hampered by injury. He sat out the first of those two losses and played in the third. But he seems to have recovered fully: Morehead State finished the season winning three in a row by a combined 61 points. -- Medcalf

Big South Conference

Sunday, March 10, 12 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Borzello: UNC Asheville
Gasaway: High Point
Lunardi: High Point
Medcalf: High Point

Why High Point will win: The Panthers are hungry. A spot in the field of 68 would represent their first NCAA tournament bid. (Yes, ever.) Granted, HPU has been playing Division I hoops for less than three decades, but there's a place in Panthers history for the group that does it first. Kimani Hamilton and Duke Miles will get it done. -- Gasaway

High Point Panthers vs. UNC Asheville Bulldogs: Game Highlights

High Point Panthers vs. UNC Asheville Bulldogs: Game Highlights

Why UNC Asheville will win: UNC Asheville and High Point are clearly the two best teams in the league. They split the two regular-season battles, and the aggregate score of the two games was exactly even. So I'm going with the best player in the league and the team that has done it before. That's Drew Pember and Asheville. Pember averaged 29.7 points and 11.3 boards in the Big South tourney last year. -- Borzello

Atlantic Sun Conference

Sunday, March 10, 2 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Borzello: Eastern Kentucky
Gasaway: Lipscomb
Lunardi: Lipscomb
Medcalf: Eastern Kentucky

Eastern Kentucky Colonels vs. Lipscomb Bisons: Game Highlights

Eastern Kentucky Colonels vs. Lipscomb Bisons: Game Highlights

Why Lipscomb will win: In the postseason, just show me offense, please. Lipscomb rates out No. 1 for efficiency on that side of the ball in ASUN play, No. 1 for effective field goal percentage and even No. 1 for accuracy at the line. Will Pruitt is averaging 27 points over his past three outings. -- Gasaway

Why Eastern Kentucky will win: While Eastern Kentucky isn't riding the hot streak Lipscomb has enjoyed, it is the top seed in the ASUN tournament. Isaiah Cozart (15.5 PPG, 9.9 RPG, 3.9 BPG) is a force. And the Eastern Kentucky team that lost back-to-back games to end the season shot just 8-for-30 from beyond the arc, a rare hiccup for a team that has made 41% of its 3-point attempts in league play. -- Medcalf

Missouri Valley Conference

Sunday, March 10, 2 p.m. ET, CBS

Borzello: Drake
Gasaway: Drake
Lunardi: Indiana State
Medcalf: Drake

Why Drake will win: Drake and Indiana State battled atop the Valley all season. Either team makes sense as the pick, but the panel gives its vote to the scoring of Tucker DeVries. Coach Darian DeVries has taken the Bulldogs into the field of 68 twice in the past three years, including a rare at-large bid for the Valley in 2021. -- Gasaway

Why Indiana State will win: Very little separates these two teams. Drake has the best player (DeVries), while Indiana State's attack is more balanced. At the end of the day, the Sycamores have the No. 1 effective field goal percentage in the country (59.5%), and I can't go against that. Putting the ball in the basket, after all, remains the most important skill. -- Lunardi

Southern Conference

Monday, March 11, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN

Borzello: Samford
Gasaway: Samford
Lunardi: Samford
Medcalf: Samford

Why Samford will win: "Bucky Ball" has taken Birmingham and the SoCon by storm, and it should carry the Bulldogs into the NCAA tournament. They play fast, they force turnovers, they take and make a lot of 3s and they get to the free throw line. Ignore the late-season blowout loss at Wofford -- three starters didn't play in that one. Bucky McMillan has a team that can win a game in the dance. -- Borzello

Sun Belt Conference

Monday, March 11, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Borzello: James Madison
Gasaway: James Madison
Lunardi: James Madison
Medcalf: James Madison

Why James Madison will win: Let's instead talk about what happens if the Dukes don't. Expect considerable chatter about an at-large bid for the team that already has 28 wins. However, that total includes a non-Division I victory as well as a nation-best (worst?) 20 wins in Quad 4. To avoid the questions, JMU needs to figure out a way past Appalachian State, which won their pair of regular-season decisions. -- Lunardi

Horizon League

Tuesday, March 12, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN

Borzello: Youngstown State
Gasaway: Wright State
Lunardi: Youngstown State
Medcalf: Wright State

play
1:48
Youngstown State Penguins vs. Wright State Raiders: Full Highlights

Youngstown State Penguins vs. Wright State Raiders: Full Highlights

Why Youngstown State will win: This could be as wide open a conference tournament as you'll find in Champ Week. Eight teams won at least 10 games in league play, and nobody won more than 15. But the Penguins are old (all five starters are seniors), they really defend inside the arc and they can score in different ways. They came up short after winning the regular-season title last season, but they'll get over the hump this time around. -- Borzello

Why Wright State will win: This league is so difficult to track that no one picked Oakland, the regular-season champion and the Horizon tournament's top seed. But this Wright State squad is the Horizon League's Alabama. The Raiders have amassed 120.3 points per 100 possessions in league play and are in the top 35 in adjusted offensive efficiency on KenPom. That overwhelming offense will be difficult to stop. -- Medcalf

Northeast Conference

Tuesday, March 12, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Borzello: Merrimack
Gasaway: Merrimack
Lunardi: Central Connecticut
Medcalf: Merrimack

Why Merrimack will win: It's finally Merrimack's turn to go dancing! Remember, this is a program that won the NEC regular-season title in 2020 and both the regular-season and conference tournaments last season but was ineligible for the NCAA tournament because of the rule regarding teams transitioning to Division I. Well, the Warriors are eligible now, they have an elite defense, and Joe Gallo is going to guide them to a conference tournament title. -- Borzello

Why Central Connecticut will win: Merrimack's loss at Sacred Heart in the final game of the regular season was costly. Central Connecticut, meanwhile, owns the NEC's tiebreaker and will play at home throughout the conference tournament. That is my basis for picking the Blue Devils. -- Lunardi

Coastal Athletic Association

Tuesday, March 12, 7 p.m. ET, CBSSN

Borzello: Hofstra
Gasaway: UNC Wilmington
Lunardi: Charleston
Medcalf: Hofstra

Why Charleston will win: It is an admittedly wide-open CAA tournament, and any of our picks -- plus Drexel -- could cut down the nets. But Charleston comes in the hottest, winning nine straight and 11 of its past 12 games. The Cougars also lost twice to UNCW in the regular season, and I don't think there's enough true separation for either to beat the other three times. -- Lunardi

Why Hofstra will win: Charleston should be the favorite to cut down the nets; Pat Kelsey's team is looking like the group that went to the NCAA tournament a year ago. But I sense a potential upset in Washington, D.C. The Pride are playing the best defense in the league over the past month, and Tyler Thomas is capable of going for 35 and carrying this team to a bid. -- Borzello

Why UNC Wilmington will win: Which CAA team have we been tracking as an off-off-bubble hopeful at Bubble Watch all season? Wilmington, that's who! (Well, also Charleston. It's a good league.) Trazarien White is a throwback who has played for Seahawks his entire career, paid his dues and now averages 20 points as a junior. -- Gasaway

West Coast Conference

Gonzaga picks up huge road win over Saint Mary's

Gonzaga picks up a big win as it goes on the road and takes down Saint Mary's.

Why Gonzaga will win: There was a lengthy period this season when the Zags didn't look like a lock for the NCAA tournament without a WCC tournament crown. But late-season wins over Kentucky and Saint Mary's ended that drama. Now Gonzaga looks like, well, Gonzaga, with a fluid offense and an imposing big man -- Graham Ike has averaged 23.2 points over the past seven games. -- Medcalf

Summit League

Tuesday, March 12, 9:30 p.m. ET, CBSSN

Borzello: South Dakota State
Gasaway: South Dakota State
Lunardi: South Dakota State
Medcalf: South Dakota State

Why South Dakota State will win: The return of Zeke Mayo (19.3 PPG, 38% from beyond the arc) gave South Dakota State stability in a league that lost the bulk of its stars to graduation and the transfer portal. With him at the helm, the No. 1-seeded Jackrabbits enter the league tournament having won five in a row. They also have a 5-1 record against the three teams (North Dakota, St. Thomas-Minnesota and Kansas City) behind them in the standings. -- Medcalf

Southland Conference

Wednesday, March 13, 5 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Borzello: McNeese
Gasaway: McNeese
Lunardi: McNeese
Medcalf: McNeese

Why McNeese will win: Yes, McNeese is dangerous and boasts multiple high-level athletes. But before we anoint the Cowboys for multiple NCAA tournament wins, let's point out 16 of their 26 wins are Quad 4, and four are over non-Division I opponents. That said, McNeese should roll in the Southland tournament. It's not even close. -- Lunardi

Patriot League

Wednesday, March 13, 7 p.m. ET, CBSSN

Borzello: Colgate
Gasaway: Colgate
Lunardi: Colgate
Medcalf: Colgate

Why Colgate will win: It's impossible to pick against Matt Langel in March. The Raiders are the 1-seed in the Patriot League tournament for the fifth time in six years and aiming for their fifth NCAA tournament in six years. They have the league's best offense, the league's best defense and three stars who have been there before: Braeden Smith, Keegan Records and Ryan Moffatt. -- Borzello

Big Sky Conference

Wednesday, March 13, 11:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Borzello: Weber State
Gasaway: Montana
Lunardi: Eastern Washington
Medcalf: Weber State

Why Weber State will win: Weber State fell short in the conference race, but the Wildcats also hit their stride late in the season, winning eight of their past nine matchups -- including a 90-84 win at top-seeded Eastern Washington. The Wildcats have the top offense, the best interior defense and arguably the top player in the league in Dillon Jones (20.7 PPG, 10.1 RPG and 5.3 APG). -- Medcalf

Why Montana will win: The Grizzlies have been especially tough since mid-February, they have some momentum and coach Travis DeCuire's "take care of the ball and make your shots" brand of hoops is a good way to play. Also KenPom needs to have both Dischon Thomas and Aanen Moody as All-Big Sky. This is an outrage, Ken! -- Gasaway

Why Eastern Washington will win: The Eagles have already clinched the league's No. 1 seed and have a three-game lead in the Big Sky standings entering the final week. They are also in the top 10 nationally in effective field goal percentage (57.2%), ranking sixth. Defense is sometimes a rumor for EWU, but that's the case pretty much throughout the Big Sky. -- Lunardi

America East Conference

Saturday, March 16, 11 a.m. ET, ESPN2

Borzello: Vermont
Gasaway: Vermont
Lunardi: Vermont
Medcalf: Vermont

Why Vermont will win: If there was any doubt whether Vermont was the clear favorite in the league, it comfortably dispatched contenders Bryant and UMass Lowell in the past two weekends to clinch the title, with room to spare. John Becker's Catamounts have won at least a share of eight straight regular-season titles and have gone to four NCAA tournaments over that span. They're playing truly elite defense down the stretch. -- Borzello

Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference

Saturday, March 16, 1 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Borzello: Norfolk State
Gasaway: Howard
Lunardi: Norfolk State
Medcalf: North Carolina Central

Why Norfolk State will win: The MEAC tournament figures to be a rock fight, and no one in the league gets to the foul line as often as the Spartans. They also force the most turnovers in the conference. This is no more than an educated guess, but those factors win close games. -- Lunardi

play

This dunk from Bryce Harris was too nice

This dunk from Bryce Harris was too nice

Why Howard will win: Bryce Harris has been dropping made 3s all over the place lately. Then there's the fact that, let's face it, Howard is due. The Bison are in pursuit of their first NCAA tournament win (after making it back to the dance 12 months ago). This is the year. -- Gasaway

Why North Carolina Central will win: Head coach LeVelle Moton has won three of the past six MEAC tournaments, and he'll enter this game with the league's top offense along with a defense that has surrendered a sub-30% clip from the 3-point line. Plus, he has Fred Cleveland Jr. (16.6 points per game with 29 total assists to five turnovers during team's three-game winning streak). A tough league race will likely end, however, with an unpredictable conference tournament. -- Medcalf

Big 12 Conference

Saturday, March 16, 6 p.m. ET, ESPN

Borzello: Houston
Gasaway: Houston
Lunardi: Iowa State
Medcalf: Houston

Why Houston will win: New league, same story for Houston. Nobody expected the Cougars to have the same levels of success in the Big 12 that they enjoyed in the AAC, but they're poised for yet another league title. Kelvin Sampson's defense is better than it has ever been since he took over the program, and Jamal Shead, L.J. Cryer and Emanuel Sharp give the Cougars three shot-makers on the perimeter. -- Borzello

Why Iowa State will win: Houston's first loss upon entering the Big 12 came at raucous Iowa State. With Kansas banged up, the Cyclones can make the kind of "Hilton South" run we saw five years ago in Kansas City. The Big 12 tourney suits them, and anyway, Houston's eyes will, rightfully, be focused on the tournament after that. -- Lunardi

Mountain West

Saturday, March 16, 6 p.m. ET, CBS

Borzello: San Diego State
Gasaway: Boise State
Lunardi: San Diego State
Medcalf: San Diego State

Why San Diego State will win: The new-look Aztecs (with three starters from the team that reached the Final Four last season) have given the keys to Jaedon LeDee (20.8 PPG, 8.4 RPG, 39% from the 3-point line), a potential All-American who was a reserve on last season's squad. There's just one similarity to last year's team: yet another top-10 defense. -- Medcalf

Why Boise State will win: The same kind of tear Kentucky Wildcats and Illinois Fighting Illini have been on offensively of late is exactly what we've seen from the Broncos over the past few games. I am giddy over this pick. The rest of the Mountain West is about to hit a giant blue and orange wall in Vegas. -- Gasaway

Big East

Saturday, March 16, 6:30 p.m. ET, FOX

Borzello: UConn
Gasaway: UConn
Lunardi: UConn
Medcalf: UConn

Why UConn will win: Is this year's iteration of UConn better than last season's national champion? It just might be. If there's one thing the Huskies want to avenge from a year ago, though, it's the Big East tournament. They were bounced by Marquette in the semifinal and will want to complete the regular-season and conference tourney sweep this time around. Dan Hurley has a perfectly balanced starting five, and UConn's defense has been dominant since Donovan Clingan returned from injury. -- Borzello

Mid-American Conference

Saturday, March 16, 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Borzello: Akron
Gasaway: Akron
Lunardi: Akron
Medcalf: Akron

Why Akron will win: The Zips won the MAC regular-season title in 2020 and the conference tournament title in 2022, and they are now going for the full sweep this season. Enrique Freeman is one of the most productive forwards in the country, and two-time transfer Ali Ali (who started his collegiate career at Akron) is beginning to hit his stride again. That said, this could still be a wide-open tourney. -- Borzello

Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference

Saturday, March 16, 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPNU

Borzello: Rider
Gasaway: Saint Peter's
Lunardi: Fairfield
Medcalf: Fairfield

Why Rider will win: The Broncos are playing the best basketball of anyone in the league over the past month, including a home win over Quinnipiac and last week's road victory at Niagara -- both teams above them in the MAAC standings. And that high-level performance is coming on the offensive end, especially inside the arc. There's also a case to be made that Mervin James is the best player of the conference, hitting at least 20 points in seven of his past 11 games. -- Borzello

Why Saint Peter's will win: Bashir Mason has his team doing the near impossible on defense, forcing both misses and turnovers. The rest of the MAAC hates trying to score on these guys. It won't always be pretty, but SPU will dance for the second time in three years. -- Gasaway

Fairfield Stags vs. Quinnipiac Bobcats: Game Highlights

Fairfield Stags vs. Quinnipiac Bobcats: Game Highlights

Why Fairfield will win: It seemed odd when Fairfield moved on from Jay Young in the fall and went with assistant Chris Casey as the interim coach. The Stags were picked sixth in the league at the start of the year and will instead enter the MAAC tournament as a top seed. Somehow they have the best offense in the league and can ride that to an unexpected NCAA bid. -- Lunardi

Conference USA

Saturday, March 16, 8:30 p.m. ET, CBSSN

Borzello: Louisiana Tech
Gasaway: Louisiana Tech
Lunardi: Louisiana Tech
Medcalf: Louisiana Tech

Why Louisiana Tech will win: Isaiah Crawford (16.4 PPG) and Daniel Batcho (14.5 PPG) are both in the running for C-USA player of the year in Talvin Hester's second season as head coach. The Bulldogs are ranked first in the country with a 42.8% clip allowed inside the 3-point line, and they've also connected on 38% of their 3-point attempts in league play. They're good everywhere. -- Medcalf

Atlantic Coast Conference

Borzello: Duke
Gasaway: Duke
Lunardi: North Carolina
Medcalf: Duke

Why Duke will win: The Blue Devils has woken up since losing in Chapel Hill on Feb. 3, winning seven of eight. (The lone loss came in the infamous court-storm game at Wake Forest.) They've bought in on the defensive end, holding six of those eight opponents to fewer than one point per possession -- and they're really starting to shoot the ball effectively, making double-digit 3s in four of the past five games. -- Borzello

Why North Carolina will win: One year after the colossal disappointment of missing the NCAA tournament as the preseason No. 1 team, the Tar Heels are back with a vengeance. The inside-outside duo of RJ Davis and Armando Bacot is as good as any in the country, and let's not forget their Final Four experience just two years ago. The best is yet to come for North Carolina. -- Lunardi

Why Arizona will win: Let's not overcomplicate this. Tommy Lloyd is 2-3 lifetime against Washington State and 50-9 against the rest of the Pac-12. The Wildcats will cruise to the finals, and then Arizona will avenge this season's two losses to the Cougars. As everyone in the league heads for the exits, this is a tasty final Pac-12 storyline. -- Gasaway

Big West Conference

Saturday, March 16, 9:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Borzello: UC Irvine
Gasaway: UC Irvine
Lunardi: UC Irvine
Medcalf: UC Irvine

Why UC Irvine will win: The Anteaters have been a mainstay near the top of the Big West standings, winning at least a share of six of the past 10 regular-season titles -- though they've gone to just two NCAA tournaments during that time. Russell Turner always has an elite defense, but UCI has been humming offensively over the past month. Bent Leuchten, a 7-foot-1 center from Germany, could be an X factor in the Big West tournament run. -- Borzello

Southwestern Athletic Conference

Saturday, March 16, 9:30 p.m. ET, ESPNU

Borzello: Texas Southern
Gasaway: Southern
Lunardi: Southern
Medcalf: Texas Southern

Why Texas Southern will win: Coach Johnny Jones is chasing his fourth consecutive SWAC tournament title and NCAA tournament appearance. PJ Henry (15.4 PPG) excelled during two of those runs and could lead the Tigers -- 8-2 in their past 10 games entering the week -- back to the postseason. Plus, this is the league's top defensive team that split its series with Grambling Tigers, the top seed in the SWAC tournament. -- Medcalf

Why Southern will win: Kevin Johnson has done a remarkable job in his first season with the Jaguars. A three-game losing streak entering the final week of regular-season play is certainly cause for concern, but Southern forces the most turnovers in the SWAC and can be very disruptive at the defensive end. The Jags also haven't won the league since 2016. They are overdue. -- Lunardi

Western Athletic Conference

Saturday, March 16, 11:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Borzello: Grand Canyon
Gasaway: Grand Canyon
Lunardi: Grand Canyon
Medcalf: Grand Canyon

Why Grand Canyon will win: No WAC player draws more fouls than Tyon Grant-Foster, and the senior is a ball hawk on defense as well. Gabe McGlothan has been on fire from the perimeter. If not for back-to-back road losses by a total of 10 points in late February, Bryce Drew would have the Lopes squarely in the at-large conversation. -- Gasaway

Ivy League

Sunday, March 17, 12 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Borzello: Princeton
Gasaway: Cornell
Lunardi: Princeton
Medcalf: Princeton

Why Princeton will win: Princeton's late surge Saturday night to beat Cornell keeps the Tigers' regular-season title hopes alive. And anyway, the majority of our expert panel is siding with coach Mitch Henderson's group, a team that made a stunning run to the Sweet 16 as a 15-seed last year. Xaivian Lee is capable of 25-point games, Caden Pierce is a double-double threat, and Henderson has a slew of players who can make shots from the perimeter. -- Borzello

Why Cornell will win: Princeton beat Cornell by all of two points in the second-to-last game of the regular season, and the Tigers were at home. Chris Manon is unstoppable. The senior records a Zion Williamson-like 75% of his 2-point tries at the rim. I get that Ivy hoops has been a "Princeton and Yale" thing for years now. That's about to change. -- Gasaway

Southeastern Conference

Sunday, March 17, 1 p.m. ET, ESPN

Borzello: Tennessee
Gasaway: Tennessee
Lunardi: Kentucky
Medcalf: Tennessee

Why Tennessee will win: While the conversation about the "great" teams in college basketball this season has centered on Houston, UConn and Purdue, Tennessee has done enough in recent weeks to enter the chat. The Vols begin the final week of the regular season with an 8-1 record in nine games, a stretch that includes wins over Kentucky, Auburn and Alabama. And Dalton Knecht (20.6 PPG, 40.2% from the 3-point line) might be a lottery pick. -- Medcalf

Why Kentucky will win: Color me captivated by Kentucky's recent offensive explosion. Keep this up and the Wildcats might not lose another game. It also strikes me as the perfect "Why not us?" formula for postseason play. The SEC tourney would be my first choice as a ticket buyer, so I'm going with the best show in town. -- Lunardi

Atlantic 10 Conference

Sunday, March 17, 1 p.m. ET, CBS

Borzello: Dayton
Gasaway: Dayton
Lunardi: Dayton
Medcalf: Dayton

Why Dayton will win: Here we have unanimous backing of a team that will likely end up as the 3-seed in the conference tournament after the Flyers' loss last week at Loyola Chicago. There's plenty more reasons to pick them than not, though. DaRon Holmes II is the best player in the league and a legitimate All-America candidate, while Koby Brea and Nate Santos can shoot it. Anthony Grant has an elite offense, but the defense will have to lock in to win the tourney. -- Borzello

American Athletic Conference

Sunday, March 17, 3:15 p.m. ET, ESPN

Borzello: Florida Atlantic
Gasaway: South Florida
Lunardi: Memphis
Medcalf: Florida Atlantic

Why Florida Atlantic will win: The advantage the Owls have over South Florida is they've had the experience of winning together in the postseason. The starting five is the same as last year's Final Four run. Johnell Davis and Vladislav Goldin are better than they were a year ago, too. Plus, Alijah Martin has connected on 37% of his 3-point attempts in the team's past three wins. -- Medcalf

Why South Florida will win: The Bulls are the pick because they're the best team in the league in the standings and even in the fancy stats. Sure, it would take a 70-game season for USF to catch FAU in KenPom, but in American play, Amir Abdur-Rahim's group has outscored the league by the same per-possession margin as the Owls. -- Gasaway

Why Memphis will win: It looks like the Tigers, finally, have figured it out. It doesn't hurt that presumptive league favorite FAU isn't running away with the league, and regular-season champion South Florida still has its doubters. I'm going with the best roster in the American at the most important time of the year. -- Lunardi

Big Ten Conference

Sunday, March 17, 3:30 p.m. ET, CBS

Borzello: Purdue
Gasaway: Purdue
Lunardi: Purdue
Medcalf: Purdue

Why Purdue will win: Boilermakers center Zach Edey is not only the undeniable favorite in the Wooden Award race again, he's also a better player -- so much so that NBA prognosticators believe he can be a lottery pick in the draft this summer. But this season's Boilermakers are also more than Edey. They're one of the top 3-point shooting squads in America (40.5%), unlike last season's group that won the Big Ten tournament and earned a top seed in the NCAA tournament. -- Medcalf
