Men's Bracketology: 2025 NCAA Tournament

There is no longer an offseason in college basketball. With more than 1,800 Division I players changing teams, the majority of programs are dependent on the transfer portal to stock and restock their rosters each spring. The resulting tumult creates wide swings in projected performance for the following year, and we're here to track it for you with monthly bracket updates until opening night on Nov. 4.

Bracket Watch

The disappearance of the Pac-12 from the national landscape will have ramifications across the country and across every sport. But from a Bracketology perspective, there is really only one question: Who will get the Pac-12's NCAA tournament bids? The easy answer would seem to be some combination of the Big Ten and Big 12, each of which is absorbing four former Pac-12 members. Indeed, in this update, the two expanded conferences check in with nine bids apiece. Yet it is the SEC, adding "only" Texas and Oklahoma in this cycle, which tops all conferences with what would be a record 10 NCAA selections. Obviously much can and will change between now and March, but it certainly appears there will be plenty of power in the new Power 4. The SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 and ACC combine for 35 teams in our bracket -- just over half the projected field -- and the SEC leads the way. It may not surpass the Big 12 as the nation's best conference next year, but it could be the deepest.
