Reese Witherspoon's impression of Nicole Kidman is spot-on!

At the 49th AFI Life Achievement Award Gala at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre, Witherspoon did a hilarious impression of the night's recipient. The prestigious award celebrates an individual whose career in motion pictures or television has greatly contributed to the enrichment of American culture.

The Legally Blonde actress, 48, began her tribute to Kidman, 56, by praising her ambition.

"She just knows who's right for what project," Witherspoon said of her close friend. "Because most actors wait by the phone to be chosen by a director, but as an actor, Nicole has always been proactive."

She then gave her best impression of the first Australian actress to receive the award.

"Even in her earliest work she picks her directors and she'll often say to me a foreign film I've absolutely never heard of, like, y'all, I mean, it's out there, and she's like," Witherspoon began before shifting to an Aussie accent, "'But do you see that director? I mean, it's incredible.'"

The camera panned to show a laughing and embarrassed Kidman covering her face with her hand. She sat next to her husband, Keith Urban, who also gave her a sweet speech.

Witherspoon continued her impression, "'Reese, we must get her. We must!' And I'm like, 'Yeah, yeah, OK. You call her first.' And I'll be on the phone and I'll just be like, 'Yeah, I'm in.'"

Witherspoon and Kidman star together on Big Little Lies, which is set to return for season 3. Kidman told ET in January that they have "a timeline for it now."

The series -- which follows a group of women and their tumultuous families who become embroiled in a murder investigation -- earned eight Emmys over its two seasons and also stars Shailene Woodley, Zoë Kravitz, Laura Dern, Adam Scott, Alexander Skarsgård, Kathryn Newton, and many others.

Meryl Streep, who also played alongside Kidman on Big Little Lies, presented her with the actual life achievement award.

TNT will air the 49th AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to Nicole Kidman on Monday, June 17 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT with an encore performance on TCM on June 27 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.
