The Chase star Paul Sinha has shared details about the mishaps he faced on his wedding day which included performing, what was meant to be, their special first dance alone. Paul and Oliver Levy tied the knot back in 2019 in London's Mayfair in front of a host of loved ones, three years after they met through the world of quizzing.

As part of the schedule on their big day, Paul and Oliver had planned for a video to be played out to guests but linking up to the screens became a huge problem. While his husband tried to fix the issue, the 54-year-old recalled being left alone to greet all their guests which included friends from his childhood, his fellow chasers, as well as students he went to university with.

"Over the course of an hour, I personally greeted over 200 stars from the narrative of my life," he recalls in his new book Once Sinha Lifetime: Comedy, disaster and one's man's quest to happiness. As the delay of Olly fixing the issue continued, Paul recalls many of his guests questioning where his spouse had gone.

He writes in his memoir: "I couldn't tell them the true answer, 'He's got his arm down the back of a dusty television, trying to save our wedding'.

"As people began to get techy about whether anything was actually going to happen, I started to fall apart."

With his frustrations now heightening, Paul said many of his friends were laughing at him, while others tried to help solve the technical issues.

After all the help, The Chase star said that the LCD sound system video eventually started playing, but that nobody could hear the song over the conversations and therefore, it was ignored.

Trying to move on from the issue, the quizmaster went on to say that his husband then began to catch up with guests which subsequently led to a further problem.

With the DJ instructed to play their first dance, Paul found his way onto the dancefloor but couldn't find his husband.

He recalls: "I had no idea where Olly was. I just knew that this was our wedding day and our first dance.

"I was just going to have to do it on my own."

Trying to save the moment, Paul said he began dancing to Taylor Swift's Blank Space "oblivious to the pain behind what they were currently witnessing".

He goes on to say that after finally reuniting with his spouse for the "spectacular finale", they attempted a cover of The Impossible Dream, but admits they hadn't got around to learning it properly.

At this point however, Paul said: "It just didn't matter. It turned out that the success of the event didn't depend on the flawless execution of the finer details."

He added that despite the mishaps, the pair's wedding remained "the greatest day" of his life.

The Chase Celebrity Special airs tonight at 5pm on ITV.
