Former This Morning host Phillip Schofield has commented "loving life" on his story, as he posts a photo of his new puppy Alfie.

The disgraced star, 61, is set to make a huge TV comeback this year, following his exit from showbiz in 2023, amid his 'unwise but not illegale' affair scandal and fall out with long-time pal Holly Willoughby. While both presenters ended up leaving their partnership on and off screen, Holly carried on with This Morning for a while, but Phillip left ITV completely. While the dust has settled, ex Dancing on Ice host Phillip seems to be making a cautious return to social media, posting infrequently about his pup.

His most recent Instagram Story shows his dog Alfie playing in a paddling pool on a sun-drenched patio, with Phillip writing: "Loving life," while pointing out it's 26 degrees.

As yet, nothing is set in stone for his comeback, but after he was papped out and about with Declan Donnelly, rumours have emerged that he could be planning a comeback Down Under. Dec and his co-host Ant present I'm A Celebrity in Australia, with speculation circulating that Phillip could be planning to redeem his image on the show.

After Phillip admitted to his affair with a younger colleague last year, his reputation was severely damaged, but the presenter kept a low profile and stayed away from social media.

He admitted lying to his family and bosses about the relationship, appearing for a tell-all BBC interview in which he confessed his daughter saved his life.

Saying he felt 'broken and ashamed', the dad-of-two stepped away from the limelight and spent time with his parents in Cornwall.

Phillip's presenter pal Lorraine, who stands by him, told The Sunday Times Magazine earlier this year: "I was heartbroken when all that happened. It's just a shame for the amazing career that he's had, for it to end like that."

Crisis management pro Edward Coram James, CEO of Go Up, thinks his discretion could have earned him a second chance at his career. The PR expert told the Mirror recently: "It's hardly surprising that Schofield is now considering a comeback, and that producers and networks may be lining up to make him job offers.

"There are many ways that Schofield could have reacted that could have cemented his fate for the worse. Instead, his behaviour during and after the scandal is a textbook example of how people should act in the face of PR disaster. It's a feat that very few manage to pull off. But it's given Schofield the opportunity for a second chance."
