Aerial photographs have revealed around 1,000 people have descended upon a sleepy village known as Allington near Grantham, Lincolnshire, for Britain’s biggest Swingers festival.

The four-day sex and fetish event, called Swingathon, kicked off on Thursday and has doubled in size from the previous year, with numbers growing from 500 to 1,000 attendees.

Tickets for this X-rated event, which features 'play tents', pole dancing, hot tubs, foam parties, and mobile dungeons, cost £265 per entry. The festival includes performances by bands, alongside DJs, dancers and comedy acts.

Organiser Kerry Voeller shared: "This year it’s bigger, better, and bolder. There will be fire breathers, pole dancers, acrobats, and much more.

"The event offers a very social and safe space for people from different lifestyles to meet new people.

"We have a huge LGBT space and we do a lot of workshops. There is a whole holistic offering.”

Other entertainment includes a Naked Attraction-style competition, drag and burlesque acts, as well as sensual massages.

In addition to Swingathon, another event, FetFest is being hosted simultaneously aimed at people with fetishes. FetFest features BDSM and sex toy stalls, "bookable private play areas" as well as a whip-throwing area.

Ms Voeller emphasised these events are "just a normal festival for people with alternative lifestyles."

Organisers were granted a temporary events notice (TEN) and have received increased support this year from the local authority.

Co-organiser Matthew Cole said: "It’s nice to have their support this year. Last year we had to go through a headache from start to finish, but this year is totally different and they are working so much better with us.

"We have sold more tickets than ever and having the council on our side as well, it could not be going any better than I wanted."

Many on social media have shown support for the event, with one user adding: "Let them get on with it. Enjoy what they want to do, and I'm pretty certain they will."

South Kesteven District Council licensing committee raised objections last year, and Lincolnshire Police also objected on grounds of crime prevention, public safety, and protecting children from harm. However, the event was still given the go-ahead.

A local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, commented: "It all seems a bit seedy if I'm honest, not my cup of tea.

"Each to their own I suppose but we don't really want or need it in the village."

There have been previous complaints from residents about noise and disturbances from the countryside site during the festival, with families kept up all night and hearing "sounds you do not want to hear when you’re trying to sleep".
