No Doubt stole the show at weekend one of Coachella with their highly-anticipated reunion. The band thrilled a massive audience–both those in the crowd and many watching at home–with high-energy renditions of most of their biggest hits, which they haven’t performed in years. One tune in particular became a streaming smash following their showing.
Streams of No Doubt’s single “Bathwater” exploded following their performance of the song. Billboard reports that the track racked up 113,000 plays on platforms like Spotify and Apple
That sum is up exponentially from the week before, when there was no Coachella to bring the title back into the minds of the masses. From the week prior to the days following the music festival, “Bathwater” experienced a 450% surge in streams in the U.S.
“Bathwater” will always be a favorite among die-hard No Doubt fans, especially those who have been following them since the beginning. What made the track become so popular once more was the band bringing out a special guest for their performance of the tune.
Olivia Rodrigo joined No Doubt on stage for “Bathwater,” and her presence made the moment one of the most exciting of the festival’s first weekend. Video of the young singer-songwriter and Gwen Stefani went viral on social media, which only helped spur the streaming uptick.
No Doubt’s entire catalog benefited from their reunion at Coachella. Billboard notes that the group’s catalog earned 2.6 million streams on Sunday and Monday following their performance. That number was up 85% from the week before.
“Bathwater” was released in 2000 as a single from the band’s album Return of Saturn. The tune was the last cut to be pushed from the full-length, which helped cement the group as among the most inventive and interesting in the rock world. While it failed to make much of an impact on the charts, it has remained a beloved tune from the ska outfit.
