Inside Development In Latin America: A Report From The Dominican Republic, Colombia, And Brazil

James Lang has written a chatty, upbeat review of 34 development projects in four countries, an "Inside Latin America" from the grass-roots development perspective. Lang's message is that high-tech, capital-intensive projects may be necessary but they are woefully inadequate and have worsened the gap between rich and poor. The negative experience of debt and falling incomes in the 1980s demands a new approach; small-scale projects mobilize resources and provide employment where other models have failed.
