Internet Para Todos
Peruvian Telecommunications Company Deploys Highly Secure Satellite Connectivity Infrastructure in Remote Areas
Download Case StudyInternet Para Todos, or “Internet for All,” is a rural mobile infrastructure operator based in Peru. In 2023, IPT selected a low-orbit satellite internet service to connect stations in remote locations that lack multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) lines. However, as the low-orbit satellite connection reaches IPT’s central hub via the public internet, the company needed a way to secure the transfer of data and meet customer SLAs.
IPT selected Fortinet to add an extra layer of security to its network. IPT now uses a FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) at each of its 65 remote sites, and one in its central hub, to create a secure tunnel for the operators using its network. The goal is to have approximately 300 stations with low-orbit satellite internet service integrated into the network, each featuring a FortiGate NGFW. Thanks to Fortinet, IPT can guarantee end-to-end security for both the mobile infrastructure and the end-users who use the network.
“Fortinet helped us find the best solution from a technical and cost-efficient standpoint for the challenges related to security, centralized connectivity, multiple outbound paths, and bandwidths that ensure the proper delivery of 4G mobile service.”

We need a new kind of visibility into the external threat landscape to allow us to anticipate, investigate, and remediate threats quickly, whether they come from phishing attacks, illegitimate apps, cloud vulnerabilities, or elsewhere.”
- Wilson Tang, Co-Owner and Chief Information Security Officer, HKBN Group
We chose Fortinet because they enable us to consolidate NGFW security and SD-WAN services into the same platform, giving us the peace of mind that we would have the level of visibility, control and security needed to effectively protect our customers’ data and applications using our SD-WAN service."
