New VPN Teleworking Solution Brings Big Gains to Iceland’s Leading IT Services Provider During COVID-19 Lockdown

“The rollout of the FortiClient VPN client has solved both our performance and security challenges. But most importantly, our employees are satisfied since they can now be as productive working from home as they were in the office.”

– Gunnlaugur Th. Einarsson, CIO, Origo

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Iceland, leading IT services provider Origo saw overwhelming demand for secure remote access. As teleworking grew from around 20 users a day to over 1,000, the increased traffic taxed the company’s legacy VPN solution. At the time, Origo had been evaluating the FortiGate next-generation firewall (NGFW) for use as a VPN headend. But the urgency of the pandemic forced more rapid action. Origo opted to deploy FortiClient advanced endpoint protection on all its remote endpoints, trusting in the high-performance FortiGate NGFW at the headend to keep traffic flowing and secure. Within eight days, 70% of employees had FortiClient up and running, with little or no assistance from the IT team. Employee satisfaction and productivity skyrocketed.

Learn how Origo is leveraging these and other Fortinet solutions to deliver a great teleworking experience in this case study.
