Formula 1 Las Vegas race to begin at same time as inaugural event last year despite calls to move up
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - The FiA is releasing new details on this year’s edition of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
On Wednesday, the International Automobile Federation (FiA), Formula One’s governing body, revealed the race will begin at 10 p.m. -- the same time as last year.
The news comes despite a suggestion from the head of Spiegelworld which runs a series of shows on the Strip.
In an open letter, the avid F1 fan said the late start time hurt both fans and local businesses by cutting into the valley’s late-night attractions, shows and restaurants. He claimed his shows alone lost half a million dollars in revenue.
He suggested a 3 p.m. start time.
This year, the Las Vegas Grand Prix will mark the third to last event on the F1 calendar.
It will run on Saturday, November 23 with practice sessions and qualifying set for the two days prior.
