The Midwest saying goes “knee high by the fourth of July.” It’s target for corn farmers, hoping their crop has grown to knee height by Independence day. June was a very rainy month though, and is affecting the corn crop.(WEAU)

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - From the farm to your table.

A new farmer’s market in the Las Vegas Valley made its debut Friday at Craig Ranch Park in North Las Vegas.

Organizers said the free, family-friendly market aims to bring together valley farmers, artisans and foodies to promote sustainable produce and local businesses.

Fresh fruits and veggies, baked goods, pet products and homemade crafts are only some of the things offered. 50 vendors were featured today with everything from food to clothing for sale.

“There’s all these different vendors from all different parts of the city who have special creations just for small businesses,” said co-founder Brenda McNair. “So it’s things you don’t see anywhere else. Special bakeries, special outfits, skincare. All these different things that you can come out and enjoy that are just for you.”

McNair said Friday’s market was the only one planned so far; organizers are working with the city to make it a weekly event.

Organizers are also making a call for vendors who sell fresh produce, crafts, baked goods and any other specialty.
