The 2024 Denim Trends We’ll Be Wearing Everywhere This Fall

The way we wear jeans changes constantly. If you really want to look now, a fresh slate of 2024 denim trends is hitting the streets (and our feeds) for fall—and thankfully for all of us, it’s easier than ever to give them a shot.

Like last year, wide-leg jeans are holding strong as the reigning silhouette, either plain or with cuffs. These days, though, skinny jeans are gaining on their roomier cousins after showing up on the runway at Miu Miu and Bally. And in keeping with our favorite bag trends of the season, studded jeans are also on the rise for autumn; adventurous seams and prints (especially leopard) are also in the mix.

From Canadian tuxedos to the return of baggy shorts, these are the 2024 denim trends you’ll want to wear everywhere this upcoming season—plus tips on how to style them with your existing fall capsule wardrobe, courtesy of our style editors.

1. Denim on denim

The best way to wear denim this fall is to totally commit to the material. (We’ll call the look a Texas tuxedo, considering the Western undercurrent dominating so many of this season’s fashion trends.) Schiaparelli, Versace, and Moschino, among many other labels, showed models clad entirely in blue jean. And thankfully, you don’t need to go designer to get the look; just buy a matching set (or a fall dress) in denim and you’re good to go.

2. Long jorts

We place so much emphasis on skirts this time of the year, but we’ll suggest jorts as a welcome alternative. These extra-long pairs are the reigning silhouette of the moment, and they perform exactly the same function as midi-skirts (with even more coverage and movement). Style your pair with a leather jacket and loafers or go with a trench coat and knee-high boots that just kiss the hemline—perfection.

3. Barrel jeans

Yes, barrel jeans are hard to get right. But when they hit, they hit. The curved, wide-leg silhouette lends an editorial edge to any outfit, making even the simplest pieces in your collection—button-downs, bomber jackets, light cardigans—pop. To offset their extreme volume, keep everything above the waist more fitted, and don’t feel the need to go overboard on layers or accessories. Dip your toes in with Madewell’s and American Eagle’s low-key options; go all-in with Free People’s and Abercrombie’s super-popular cuts.

4. Studded denim

After studs appeared on the fall catwalks at Isabel Marant, Chloé, and Acne Studios, it was only a matter of time until they made their way to denim. What better way to welcome the boho revival? Lo and behold, the studded jeans have arrived—and the options are good. J.Crew and Mango keep things on the more subdued side, while Reformation and Zara turn up the volume. 5. Wide-leg jeans

Even if you made it through the past year without a pair of wide-leg jeans in your collection, it’s clear that the silhouette isn’t going away anytime soon—why not embrace it? Learning how to style wide-leg pants is about adopting a less-is-more approach; we love them with slightly more fitted tops and an oversized top layer. (You’re about to get so much mileage out of your fall jackets.) Dip a toe into the look with these not-too-wide picks across pretty much every price point and wash.

6. Cuffed jeans

At every Fashion Week so far in 2024, our editors have noticed one styling trick on some of each city’s most stylish guests: thick, single-fold cuffs. (Welcome to cuffing season.) Applied to rigid denim, the result is relaxed yet elegant—and so easy to try at home. Just take any pair of too-long jeans, give it a single roll, and wear it however you would otherwise. 7. Skinny (and skinny-ish) jeans

Calling Kate Middleton! After a few years in fashion jail, skinny jeans are back in the conversation—just ask Katie Holmes. Whether or not you ever stopped wearing the silhouette, this revival is going to stick: Miu Miu showed multiple pairs for fall, and it’s possibly the single most influential brand right now. We’ve noticed an uptick in slim-straight pairs that’ll tuck nicely into your tallest fall boots, especially, allowing you to get the look without venturing into sprayed-on territory.

8. Leopard print jeans

While the mob-wife aesthetic might have gone to bed as soon as spring rolled around, leopard will be everywhere again in the coming months. So many style insiders have been wearing the wild pattern for Fashion Month, especially in jeans form. We love each of these pairs with a simple black top or a roomy button-down shirt; don’t be afraid to wear leopard-print everything when you really want to make an impact.

9. Denim maxiskirts

Long jean skirts have officially eclipsed denim minis. (Midis, by the way, are still fair game.) They’re one of the easiest ways to signal a relaxed elegance—just look at how they’re styled above—and they pair well with just about everything you already have in your closet. Try a blazer and slingback heels for a dinner date; go with a denim shirt and suede boots for drinks with friends.

10. Seamed and creased jeans

On the runways and among Glamour editors, the consensus is clear: Seamed jeans are one of fall’s coolest, most unexpected takes on denim. Miu Miu and Eckhaus Latta showed pairs divided by darts and twisting seams; fashion people, meanwhile, have embraced front seams and creasing for a dressy, work-friendly look. Subtle as they are, the menswear-inspired details on these pairs will make any fall outfit look all the more polished—even if you’re just wearing the same white T-shirt and booties you always do.
