E-Jet E2 / E190-E2

The first member of the E-Jet E2 family, the E190-E2 is designed to deliver the best performance, opening new markets while delivering comfort and sustainable profitability. Given all the changes to the aircraft, the E2 came pretty close to being an all-new design rather than just a reengined version of the first-generation E-Jets. Great hopes were pinned on the E195-E2, which will enter service in 2019. Can it become Embraer's equivalent of the Airbus A321neo the largest family member with the lowest unit costs and open up a new market and spur strong demand?

Jens Flottau wrote in Aviation Week & Space Technology, Mar 20, 2018 "Embraer argues that E195 trip costs are 22% lower than the A320neos and 24% below the 737-8s on a typical mission. But that is based on a 154-seat configuration for the A320neo and 160-seat layout for the 737-8, while in fact most airlines would put in many more seats. The unit-cost disadvantage, which Embraer sees at 6% and 8%, respectively, could therefore be larger. And, unfortunately for the Brazilian manufacturer, many airlines are still focusing on unit-cost reduction..."

February 28, 2018 In a ceremony held today at the Company's facilities in So Jos dos Campos, Embraer received Type Certificate for the E190-E2, the first member of the E-Jets E2 family of commercial aircraft, from the Brazilian Civil Aviation Agency (Agncia Nacional de Aviao Civil ANAC), the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency). It is the first time that an aircraft program with the level of complexity of the E2 receives a type certificate from three major worldwide certification authorities simultaneously.

Built on E-Jets heritage and designed by people with a passion for innovation and attention to detail, every opportunity has been considered for efficiencies and performance that contribute to a superior level of comfort and space for passengers, and for operators, the ability to exploit new opportunities and sustain profitability.

economics

Reducing operating costs, increasing efficiency

Compared to its predecessor E190, the E190-E2 successfully delivers double-digit percentage reductions in fuel burn and maintenance costs.

On the flightdeck, electronic flightbags allow pilots to access realtime data which is continually analyzed so that the aircraft flies in the most economical way.

A high degree of commonality between the E2 family reduces spare parts requirements, permits the use of the same ground support equipment, and allows for standardized training and maintenance procedures. That reduces costs, increases parts logistics efficiency, and improves profitability.

The same crew qualification across the E2 family means training is one of the simplest in the industry. With the benefits of a common family, airline schedulers and crew planners will find last-minute flight changes easy to manage.

performance

Maximizing fleet performance

The E2 pushes the technical envelope with its optimized design.

The use of smart materials and the high aspect wings contribute to double-digit lower fuel consumption compared to current-generation E-Jets. Pratt & Whitney PurePower Geared Turbofan engines improve efficiency. Other advanced controls including 4th generation fly-by-wire, have led to significant improvements, not only in fuel burn, but in maintenance costs, emissions and external noise.

The E-enabled on-board maintenance system allows for simple and intuitive troubleshooting and maintenance stations can be advised in advance, expediting repairs for minimal or reduced ground delay. New standards of reliability designed in, mean longer servicing intervals.

cabin

Award-winning design for passengers and crew

The E190 E2s award-winning interior design gives the feeling of a spacious, wide-bodied aircraft. With no middle seat, each passenger has an unprecedented level of personal space. The staggered seating concept in business class is a first for the segment and is just one of the many reasons the E2 cabin was awarded the Crystal Cabin Award in the Industrial Design and Visionary Concepts category.

Smart modularity enables reconfiguration to maximize flexibility of your fleet and build your on-board airline experience. The cabin is designed with crew efficiency and easy maintenance in mind.

On the flightdeck, pilots appreciate the dark and quiet design philosophy that maximizes ergonomic benefits and safety while minimizing workload.

environment

Sustainable and environmentally friendly

The use of advanced technologies in the E2s engines, wings and avionics mean reduced fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, noise and maintenance costs, at the same time as maximizing operational efficiency for airlines.

range

Designed to go further

A combination of capacity and range in one high-performance aircraft, the E190-E2 is the idea tool for operators wanting to enter new markets and take advantage of new opportunities. Carrying a full load of passengers, the E190 E2s range extends to 2301.55nm (3704km).
