<p>England's men's team can end their long wait for a major trophy when they take on Spain in the final of Euro 2024 on Sunday. Fans will go to great lengths in the hopes of seeing their side win, but Shearer has taken it to another level by claiming he'd accept seeing Sunderland win the Premier League if it means England prevail in the final.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Shearer is a Newcastle legend and one of the staunchest supporters of the Magpies, so his comments shouldn't be taken lightly. It's been a tough ride for England fans over the years, from the heartbreaking exit on penalties to Germany at Euro 96, to the semi-final defeat to Croatia at the 2018 World Cup, and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/coming-to-rome-penalty-misery-england-southgate-italy-win-euro-2020/1bmh5twx5cw2uzyn7x3gimjpn" target="_blank">that defeat to Italy, via another shootout, in the final of Euro 2020</a>.</p>

<p>"Someone asked me if I’d take England winning but Sunderland come back up to the Premier League and win the title," Shearer told <a href="https://www.betfair.com/sport/football/uefa-euro-2024/12531088" target="_blank">Betfair</a>. "I don't care about Sunderland, I have no interest in them, I just want England to win so if that had to happen, then fair enough."</p><p>The former Three Lions striker believes Southgate's side will get it done.</p><p>"I'm going to go for an England win. It really can happen," he added. "We are playing against the best team of the tournament, but I just have a feeling that we'll have enough to win."</p>
