Going out to eat is great, but it can be challenging if you have a gluten sensitivity or celiac disease. The solution? Cook some of your meals at home so you know exactly what's in them — and what's not.
It can be difficult to come up with all your own recipe ideas, however, so we rounded up our best gluten-free dinners you can make any time. The best part of these recipes is that they don't scream "GF" — any gluten eaters in your household may not even realize they're missing the wheat.
Here's what we're talking about: savory pork steaks with a crunchy cucumber salad; juicy grilled shrimp with sweet mango; bean-stuffed poblanos with creamy (vegan!) queso and so much more. Instead of focusing on what you can't eat, embrace naturally gluten-free ingredients like fruits, veggies, meat, tofu, and of course, cheese.
When you're craving common wheat-based products, there are so many brilliant substitutes. We love gluten-free all-purpose flour, corn tortillas, grain-free cookies and tamari or coconut aminos instead of soy sauce. There are also more gluten-free snacks than ever (and they taste great) as well as gluten-free pastas. We love mixing gluten-free spaghetti with zucchini noodles for a satisfying dinner that packs a nutritious punch.
When it comes to gluten-free eating, there's no such thing as missing out. Just don't forget to make gluten-free dessert, too!
