This is a stupendous novel, a tour-de-force. The only catch is, you really do have to enjoy reading about Platonic philosophy. But if this is your bag, OMG! You will have such a great time!

Presuming (or should that be assuming? I never know which to use :-/ ) You might also want to try Tom Siddell's Gunnerkrigg Court, I'm sure it's right up your alley.
