This was another great book in the Demonica series. Larissa Ione is incredibly versatile in her writing and world-building. I am continually impressed by the breadth of her world and characters as she spins wild and creative tales to enjoy. In REAVER, we move from Horsemen to Angels, focusing on Reaver, a formerly fallen, now redeemed angel who is going after Harvester (a currently fallen angel) who has been condemned to hell for trying to save the world (essentially.) He knows he’ll get in big trouble with the snooty angel council for this but goes anyway. There’s this great magnetic pull between Harvester and Reaver, a love hate thing that has been going on for several books, and in this one we find out the source of their connection, and the degree to which their star-crossed lover plight extends. It’s a great backstory and I love the way they eventually come around to each other. Another great addition to the series.

Reaver & Harvester are meant to be together. They were together, until Reaver fucked up and then they both lost their memory. They were apart for so many years as deadly enemies, as opponents in the battle between good versus evil – or at least this is what Reaver and us readers thought.
But NO, she was NOT.
Because we may thought that Harvester is the bad Fallen Angel that works with the Satan and she tries to break the seals of the four horsemen; we may thought that she wants to bring Apocalypses and there is no disgusting, evil action that she has not taken part in.
But as it is already apparent, she was nothing more than a spy from Heaven who has volunteered and has made uncountable sacrifices until the right moment comes to prevent the Apocalypses. Unfortunately she was found out and the book starts with her stuck in Hell (literally), being tortured without hope and without future.
So here comes Reaver the warrior, the cunning male, the determined lover-to-be. Reaver will go after her, because NOW HE KNOWS that nothing is what it seems. He will have Harvester, even if he has to sneak to Sheoul /Hell to get her.
Their love story, the story of their lives is magnificent. They have self-tortured their souls for thousands of years and they were miserable without each other without knowing the reason. When the time comes, when Reaver and Harvester are together, when they remember, everything will be perfect. No one will question how we get there.
In terms of revelations and anticipation, “Reaver” has been the book that all the series’ followers were looking forward to read.
I was extremely happy with what I got and I am sure most of the fans.

Reaver is the 5th book in Larissa Ione’s Lords of Deliverance series, a fabulous spinoff of her just as fantastic Demonica Series.
The book opens with a short prologue that gives us a glimpse of Reaver & Harvester’s lives as angels in Heaven. They have no memories of the connection they had all those thousands of years ago.
Reaver once a Fallen Angel has been “upgraded” to full angel status has become the good watcher of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who he discovers are his children.
Harvester has been playing the bad Fallen Angel for thousands of years, working on Satan’s side to bring down the Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
But at the last moment, she betrays Satan by stopping the Apocalypse, which lands her in big trouble. Now stuck in Hell, where she’s being tortured on a massive scale, with no means of escaping in sight.
There’s no love lost between Reaver & Harvester – did she not want to kill his children???? – but then she does the unthinkable……..actually sacrifices herself to save their lives and the world!!!!! Not only that but he discovers that it’s not the only sacrifice she has made……..the truth is that she had volunteered to becoming a Fallen Angel and working as a spy in the demon realm of Sheoul. for Heaven….Reaver is determined to save her and against Heaven orders, travels to Hell to rescue her. Nothing will stop him…….

I adored Reaver & Harvester and loved seeing them discovering each other again and finding their HEA.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you again Larissa for this opportunity!
First and foremost I have to say that REAVER was well worth the long wait! From start to finish I stayed on the edge of my seat waiting on what happens next, and I was not disappointed. Larissa throws in surprise after surprise throughout the entire book. In fact there were a few jaw-dropping moments! There is something always going on, but not in a way that overwhelmed me.
Ah…Reaver… I absolutely adore him! For me, Reaver has been the most anticipated paranormal character that I have waited to read about in years, if not ever. (And, believe me, I have read my fair share of paranormal romance books). He was everything I expected him to be, and more. His struggles with not remembering his past broke my heart. His duty to protect Heaven and Earth is astounding. His commitment to the Horsemen is total. His protection of Harvester is remarkable, honest, and complete, especially given what she previously put him through. The passion between him and Harvester is scorching and when they finally come together it’s slip-off-your-seat-in-a-puddle worthy.
Now, Harvester, she gave me mixed feelings through ¾ of the book. At times I wanted to crawl through the book and smack the crap out of her for treating Reaver the way she did. At other times I wanted to cradle and comfort her. And still, other times I wanted to give her a great big hug, a smack on the lips, a high five, and say “you go girl”. Throughout the times I had hateful feelings for her I still couldn’t totally condemn her because of everything she went through. To go through what she went through and still come out sane is a miracle and only a truly strong person could have managed it, even for an immortal angel/demon. By the end of the book she totally redeemed herself in my eyes, and in Reaver’s.
In the end I was left totally satisfied but intrigued and anxious for what will happen in the next book. Although there were many questions left unanswered, the questions pertaining to Reaver and Harvester’s story were cleared up, satisfactorily.
I give Larissa, Reaver, and Harvester a 10 thumps up, 10 star rating! I can’t wait to discover what Larissa has for us next! All I can say is, BRING IT ON!

Finally, the story of Reaver and Harvester ~or~ Yenrieth and Verrine.
Likes:
• The whole best friends to enemies to lovers theme never gets old.
• I really liked Reaver a lot more in this book. I guess because we got to see a more gentler ~and~ loving side to him.
• It was great to see the sweeter side of Harvester too, but I still like her 'badassness'!
• Took a while for things to get going but when they did, it was good! I always like how the blood drinking amps things up!
• Yay...we got some great scenes with Wraith but not enough with Thanatos.
• I love the tying together of the two series!
• I thought the scenes with Reaver and Limos were really endearing!
• Interesting how things were set up for Revenant.
Dislikes:
• The whole Lucifer plot line was gross...especially the full grown part.
• I really wanted to see more interaction between Harvester and her dear ol' Dad.
• I wish we would've gotten more details about Yenrieth and Lilith...for Harvester. (You can read that story in Eternal Damnation) I don't feel it was explained enough ~or Reaver was remorseful enough~ to Harvester.
• Wow...didn't expect that from Raphael.
• The whole wing cutting off ceremony was pretty intense and gruesome!
• I was ready for this to be the end of the series (x2).
Overall:
I really enjoyed how things all came together with the two series and while I find Revenant very intriguing and I'm curious about how things will proceed, I was a little disappointed that the series was continuing. I guess I was just prepared for a big ending and I'm not sure where things will go from here. Still looking forward to Revenant even if we have to wait till late winter to read it.

After waiting for over a year and a half...Reaver was O.K. just another book in this series.
UPDATE
2 August 2013-first things first...must whine about how much longer we have to wait- four more months to go, OH COME ON!!!! Can we get a break, a mulligan, perhaps graded on a curb...if 17 Dec 2013 = an 'A' and we want "Reaver" the book now--can we negotiate for a new availability date of 10 October 2013?...whine, whine, complain, complain...sigh!
** I have another prediction**
I think we'll find out that Harvester was some angel that was so in love with Reaver before he fell that she willingly fell and put on her big girl panties to do whatever digusting, soul-raping and depraving acts she had to do in order to get and keep the position to guard Reaver's children. (...and we know they were keeping tabs on her in Hell/Sheoul).
Even though Reaver lost his memory and didn't know who she was; she loved him so much, she sacrificed more than 3 millenia of her life to watch over his children...some thought along the line that the horsemen could have been given an asshole for their evil guidian that truly wanted evil to win this war and didn't care for the horsemen...where she cared/cares about the horsemen and what's best for them.
Yeah...she did some crappy stuff...remember she's always being watched by demons who can't wait to capitalize on any sign of weakness.

Oh Hot Dam! REAVER! Yaaay...woohoo!!!
DECEMBER!!!!...oh well--looks like Santa is NOT the man I'll be hovering around with bated breath for.
I've wanted to read a story about Reaver since the Demonica books.
I think Reaver is the horsemen's father...I think that's what caused him to fall and why he lost his memory. I remember that when Pestilence trapped him in Immortal Rider, he used Harvester as bait...and Reaver admitted that he had always had a weakness for "bad girls”...hmmm...Lileth is bad.
Plus, I'm sure I am not the only one who has noticed that Harvester has a thing for him...needless to say, I hope Harvester and Reaver are the love (hero and heroine) of this book.

Oh.My.GOD!
Now that, my friends, is how you write a scorching hot PNR book.
I have been waiting for this book since we first met both Reaver and Harvester. Which each new LoD book I got more and more interested in their story. Then after the way the last book ended, I was pretty sure I would die if I didn't get my greedy little hands on this book and soon. So let's just say when this finally went live on Amazon
I was a tiny bit excited.
Although the LoD series wasn't a favorite of mine by Ione, I still thoroughly enjoyed each book. I love getting more of the Sem brothers and the rest of the old and new amazing side characters that are always present in her books. But let me just say that this book blew the entire series out of the water. I LOVED IT.
The one thing that I truly love about Ione's books is her side characters never take away from the main story, they merely make it that much better. And that is no small feat.
She is also the queen of building some of the most combustible sexual tension between the H/h.
I don't think there was one thing about this book that I didn't love. Non-stop action, incredible world building, scorching hot chemistry, so many twists and turns your head will spin, and a story that sucks you in from the first page are just a few of the things you can expect here.
I don't want to give anything away, so that is all you'll be getting from me. If you have not read the rest of the books in this series, I strongly recommend reading them before this one. While Larissa does a great job retelling their story through the series without being redundant, I think it will just not be the same without the other books.
My absolute favorite in the series.
Then there was the set up for the next book. Holeeee shit. Are you kidding me? Now to have to wait until late winter of 2014 for it? I think I just died inside. But damn! I can't wait.
This is a book that is not to be missed. Fans of Larissa Ione will be reminded exactly why they are such big fans. And if you haven't read this author yet, I suggest you get click happy.

I've waiting for this for ages and I wasn't disappointed. What a book... What a heroine Harvester proved herself to be... Wish I could say I loved Reaver as much as I would want to but that would be almost a lie. I'll explain later on.
Reaver
Reaver was awesome. He was brave and just and honest and loving, he was everything a hero should be(maybe a little bit prejudiced but let's cut him some slack), by all means if that was all I would have fallen head over heels in love with him. But, and that's a big one, Yenrieth was an arrogant ass. He was cocky, whorish, kind of cruel and a general jerk. Every time another piece of his character was revealed I wanted to weep because he destroyed my love for the Reaver I had come to adore.
Harvester
Now Harvester(or Verinne) proved to be everything I love in a heroine. The once innocent and loving angel that was Verinne is now Harvester, a fallen angel, a woman with many sins under her belt and a heart as huge as ever. It was really interesting to see how everything Harvester had to do in order to be able protect the horsemen made her grow up and harden herself. I liked the end result. Harvester could still love with her whole heart but she had acquired a snarky personality(born from many bad actions and decisions) which I have to admit I usually find irresistable in heroines.
I think the story was my favorite so far in the LoD series. I loved all the horsemen books but Reaver's book was a most anticipated one. I was already in love with the main couple and when you add Tavin and Revenant and Blaspheme to the mix the result is a completely compelling book.
Raphael really made a fine baddie. I really wish he had gotten what he had coming. I found that his "punishment" in losing Harvester wasn't enough to satisfy me. On the other hand I was really happy with what Gethel got. The b*tch was annoying as hell.
I really cannot wait for the next book(a year is too freaking long). The twist with Revenant was really a great surprise. I look forward to learning how he'll turn to be a hero and what exactly Blaspheme is.

I am officially making this my new Reaver theme;-) Because this might be a Demonica book, but it's just as much a book about angels against a demonic/Sheoulic backdrop: Fallen angels, (false) false angels, scheming angels, lusty angels, powerful angels, angels who are not what they seem and angels who have been wronged from birth. But don't worry, our favorite Sems and horsemen show up too.
Front and center, of course, is Reaver, he is hellbent on saving the fallen angel, Verrine/Harvester from her "loving" daddy's tender care. And he'll go to any length to save her, and discover their 5000 year old connection that holds the key to his memory loss.
I must admit, Reaver has never been my favorite. When we first encountered him as a healer for Eidolon at Underground Hospital, I found his judgmental and bitter "holier than thou" attitude obnoxious for an angel who'd lost his wings. What made him so much better than the demons working there? Sure, my respect for him grew as the horsemen's watcher, and particularly what he did for Reseph, but he's a long way from being my favorite Demonica character. The same was true for Harvester.
So did the book live up to my expectations? Yes, for the most part.
Loved the insights into Sheoulic life, from the torture dungeons to Lucifer's realm to Persephone's playground. Interesting idea, the one place demons go to escape the hard demands of Sheoul and can be good without being judged. Ooh, those dangerously sexy, demonic "good boys." Everything your demon mama warned you against... Tsk, tsk, tsk. Fun, I'd like to go there one day;-)
There were some truly hilarious dialogues between Harvester and Reaver too. Loved the Bill Gates quip. After having dealt with windows Vista on a regular basis, I can certainly understand why Harvester would think he was a demon. But on a personal note, why not nap Steve Jobs instead. I'm sure the demonic viruses are particularly vicious, and good old Bill isn't really successful against them, now is he. And they wanted an upgrade of the Boregates, right? ;-)
As for Harvester's and Reaver's past and present: I liked discovering Reaver's past alongside him, seeing his past self as the part time immature/cruel jerk I'd always thought he was as Yenrieth, and continued to be as Reaver. Can't say I disagreed with the reasons for his memory loss. For the first time, I really felt for the young Verrine, and the hardened woman she grew into as Harvester. But obviously, their journey through hell together, and the events that followed did wonders for him. He certainly proved his everlasting devotion when he threatened to castrate a certain, very unangelically acting angel. Yay for upgrades. It was also reassuring to see that even though they fought through their problems and came up on top, they stayed true to themselves, and continued to be the flawed persons life and experience had turned them into. So yes, their 30 day journey through their own personal hell, as well as the physical, real one, served as a cruel therapy/wakeup session/lesson that did more for our battle angel than 5000 years above ground ever did. I doubt Reaver would have passed the test presented to him by Metatron without the experience... which would have been a crying shame, since the events are so closely tied to a new, and very interesting player in the Demonica universe, namely Revenant. He is possibly the most interesting new character since Wraith. (Okay, and Thanathos... And Reseph, and... Well, you know, Larissa knows how to create engaging new characters.) Right from the beginning he caught my attention, I may even have commented on a few weird character traits while I was reading the book. By the end of the story, they made so much sense. I am so very happy that the next novel will focus on him. Because his side story, and attraction to the secretive false angel working at UGH will be veeeery interesting. I'm gonna enjoy every twist and turn, that much I can guarantee! All I can say is: Good luck, Blaspheme!

Finally! The twin mysteries of Reaver and Harvester are revealed, and Larissa Ione once again does it in sensational, action-packed, heart pounding style!
I really can’t say anything about the story because it’s going to be a HUGE spoiler if you haven’t read the previous books, but OH. HOLY, GOD! This book is non-stop action from start to finish – seriously, there is not a quiet moment, it’s all go from the first page, and the suspense and excitement doesn’t let up until the very end. There is action, horror, drama and romance, and bomb after bomb is dropped, revealing so much about the past and adding even more layers to Ione’s intricate world. The way she has constructed her world and woven these characters together is absolutely incredible, and the revelations in this book include some massive game changers!
I love Reaver! First introduced in the Demonica series as a fallen angel - a former angel kicked out of heaven for committing a major sin - it has always been clear that he’s one of the good guys - albeit a smartass, rule-bending good guy, but his honour, compassion, and loyalty have always been his driving force. Throughout the Demonica series he goes through some huge ups and downs, only for that to be stepped up when he became a major player in the Lords of Deliverance books, first as the heavenly watcher to the Four Horseman of the Apocalype, and later... . And now, we finally get his story – his whole story! His past, his previously removed memories, and his strange link with Harvester are all slowly uncovered, and holy freaking revelations, it’s HUGE!
Harvester has always been a really intriguing character. Introduced in the Lords of Deliverance series as the evil Watcher to the Horsemen, she has been an evil, conniving bitch. I always had my suspicions about her, and while some of my predictions were spot on, other surprises revealed in the last book of the series came as a huge surprise. I was stoked that her past is explained in the prologue of this book, it provides a sensational lead in for the rest of the story.
Reaver and Harvester have had a sensational dynamic. Their strong hatred and animosity towards each other has always had lust-filled undertones, and throughout the series, the chemistry between them has built even as they’ve fought and kicked the shit out of each other.
So it’s a great set up for an unlikely romance, but I must say I didn’t feel it as much as I have in the other books of the series. Perhaps because there is so much else going on in the story that the intimacy between them don’t get a lot of focus, and I felt like there wasn’t enough time spent exploring the shift in things between them. Although of course, they’re great together – the sex is hot, the bantering is epic, and Reaver getting all caveman and territorial over his woman is freaking awesome.
They both go through hell in this book – literally! The two of them are hit over and over again with physical, emotional and mental torment that really should cripple them, but which actually just provide the stepping stones to them unravelling the past and finally moving forward, and that’s what I wanted to see more of – the shift from lust to love. But still, their story is an amazing one, with a lot of depth, and I loved getting to see Reaver get all romantic.
… but still with an edge…
Both the Demonica and LOD crew make appearances (Wraith continues to crack me up, God I love that demon!), although this story shifts away from them and has a stronger focus on the angelic side of things, with Reaver and Harvester battling angels, demons, fallen angels, twisted archangels, and even Satan himself, who brings a horrifying edge to the story, as the countdown is on for an impending battle between Heaven and Hell. But, as always, through all of that intensity runs the wisecracks and humour that makes this series so much fun.
I am so in love with this series, with the world that Ione has given us and with the huge, extended family that she has created. I genuinely care about all of these characters, and I really enjoyed seeing Reaver and Harvester’s individual stories come to fruition and seeing them get the HEA that they so desperately deserved. I loved this book, and with two more books promised in the series, I’m really excited to see where Ione takes us from here.

Reaver, father of the Four Horsemen and bad boy battle angel has a problem. He recently found out that Harvester, a fallen angel, isn’t the evil entity she has been acting like for thousands of years. She did not betray Heaven but was actually involved in a complex mission that required her to act as though she was still working for her father, Satan. After helping to stop the Apocalypse, Satan dragged her to Hell to be tortured for eternity.
Reaver has also been regaining bits and pieces of his memories. Memories that involve his and Harvester’s past. When Reaver makes plans to go to Hell and rescue Harvester, he is in direct violation of Heavenly orders. Getting caught could cost him his wings…and possibly his life.
Harvester knew that betraying Satan would cost her but she had hoped maybe Heaven would intervene. When no help comes, Harvester resigns herself to her fate. She is amazed and disconcerted when Reaver comes into Hell, intent on bringing her out alive. They haven’t had a very congenial relationship-both hating the other for a myriad of reasons.
As Reaver and Harvester struggle to escape Satan’s domain and dealing with the onslaught of memories resurfacing for both of them; they realize that they have been nothing but pawns in the dangerous game between Heaven and Hell. Now, Reaver and Harvester must work together to save the world once again and issue the ultimate smack down to everyone who thought they could bring them to heel.
I am a HUGE fan of Larissa Ione and her wickedly dark, dangerous, and sinful Lords of Deliverance series. Fans have all waited impatiently for Reaver’s story and will be ecstatic with this latest installment. Reaver gives us answers to most that has plagued readers since book one and wraps up the arc’s major storyline while opening the way for a brand new ones.
A true PNR that delivers well crafted characters, machiavellian plots lines, and engaging dialogue that rivals most offerings out there. I love the balance Ione achieves between the high octane romance and the heart pounding action. Though you know the happy ending is coming, the path that you follow is fraught with peril and pain. Ione doesn’t make it easy and all you can do ride it out as Ione weaves her magic around you.
Reaver is filled with anger, betrayal, redemption, forgiveness, sacrifice and love. It holds you hostage from page one and doesn’t let go till you reach the last page. Incredible world building only continues to expand and evolve; allowing for easy comprehension of it’s rather convoluted landscape. Filled with intense action, dark violence, humorous snark, and some amazingly poignant scenes, you will find yourself devouring each page, leading us to a stunning conclusion that will have you cheering for joy.
Ione has given us two extremely damaged protagonists in Reaver and Harvester. Betrayed by those they vowed to serve with their lives, your heart breaks as you learn of the pain inflicted upon them by others and each other. Reaver and Harvester have suffered tremendously in their service to Heaven and they are repaid time and time again with deception and betrayal. That is not to say they are purely angelic. *wink* Both are predisposed with nasty tempers and willful natures that lead them straight into temptation time and time again.

Clues are given to the next hero and heroine and they look to promise much mayhem and laughter.

Nothing and nobody is ever what they seem in here and that becomes glaringly evident as the story progresses. As I stated earlier, this book answers so many questions and contains some rather shocking news. It’s very hard not to spoil so forgive my lack of information.
The multiple story lines are filled with extreme tension and emotion yet flow evenly and smoothly to merge together for a climactic ending that had my heart stopping quite a few times as Reaver defies the heavens to save those he loves. Larissa Ione once again produces a gold medal winner with Reaver. As I stated in the beginning, I am a huge fan of this series and will continue to recommend them to anyone who will listen to me. Though this story has a fully resolved main conflict, I do not recommend reading out of order, as it also resolves a long standing arc that you will miss out on by not starting from the beginning with Immortal Rider.

Reaver, father of the Four Horsemen and bad boy battle angel has a problem. He recently found out that Harvester, a fallen angel, isn’t the evil entity she has been acting like for thousands of years. She did not betray Heaven but was actually involved in a complex mission that required her to act as though she was still working for her father, Satan. After helping to stop the Apocalypse, Satan dragged her to Hell to be tortured for eternity.
Reaver has also been regaining bits and pieces of his memories. Memories that involve his and Harvester’s past. When Reaver makes plans to go to Hell and rescue Harvester, he is in direct violation of Heavenly orders. Getting caught could cost him his wings…and possibly his life.
Harvester knew that betraying Satan would cost her but she had hoped maybe Heaven would intervene. When no help comes, Harvester resigns herself to her fate. She is amazed and disconcerted when Reaver comes into Hell, intent on bringing her out alive. They haven’t had a very congenial relationship-both hating the other for a myriad of reasons.
As Reaver and Harvester struggle to escape Satan’s domain and dealing with the onslaught of memories resurfacing for both of them; they realize that they have been nothing but pawns in the dangerous game between Heaven and Hell. Now, Reaver and Harvester must work together to save the world once again and issue the ultimate smack down to everyone who thought they could bring them to heel.
I am a HUGE fan of Larissa Ione and her wickedly dark, dangerous, and sinful Lords of Deliverance series. Fans have all waited impatiently for Reaver’s story and will be ecstatic with this latest installment. Reaver gives us answers to most that has plagued readers since book one and wraps up the arc’s major storyline while opening the way for a brand new ones.
A true PNR that delivers well crafted characters, machiavellian plots lines, and engaging dialogue that rivals most offerings out there. I love the balance Ione achieves between the high octane romance and the heart pounding action. Though you know the happy ending is coming, the path that you follow is fraught with peril and pain. Ione doesn’t make it easy and all you can do ride it out as Ione weaves her magic around you.
Reaver is filled with anger, betrayal, redemption, forgiveness, sacrifice and love. It holds you hostage from page one and doesn’t let go till you reach the last page. Incredible world building only continues to expand and evolve; allowing for easy comprehension of it’s rather convoluted landscape. Filled with intense action, dark violence, humorous snark, and some amazingly poignant scenes, you will find yourself devouring each page, leading us to a stunning conclusion that will have you cheering for joy.
Ione has given us two extremely damaged protagonists in Reaver and Harvester. Betrayed by those they vowed to serve with their lives, your heart breaks as you learn of the pain inflicted upon them by others and each other. Reaver and Harvester have suffered tremendously in their service to Heaven and they are repaid time and time again with deception and betrayal. That is not to say they are purely angelic. *wink* Both are predisposed with nasty tempers and willful natures that lead them straight into temptation time and time again.

Ms. Ione does an excellent job of building up her characters and I think that with Reaver, she went above and beyond. I was flabbergasted at how this book revealed to me.
I was just lucky that no flies flew in my mouth as the entire time I was reading, my jaw was just hanging.
Come hell or high water this without a doubt an incredible read and to be honest that does not begin to cover it.

How about it falls into the category where I want more than 5 Stars? It certainly grabbed me from the first page and didn't let up until the breathless ending.

🥵 book!!!!!!! I have been waiting for Reaver's book since the original Demonica series and the wait was so worth it. It's actually mindboggling to think about where Reaver started and where he ended. I honestly never expected Reaver's journey to this epic. This review will contain major spoilers.
Reaver's memories of his time in Heaven prior to his fall have been erased and he was also erased from other people's memories. Reaver's past has been a total mystery until Rogue Rider, where he found out that he fathered the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
When Reaver also finds out that Harvester was a spy for Heaven and that she'd been watching over his children during his absence, he decides to YOLO and stages a rescue in Sheoul AKA Hell. After being outed as a traitor to Hell, Harvester is being tortured by her father, Satan. Reaver finally finds his way to Harvester and he rescues her, but their journey from Sheoul to the human realm is fraught with uncertainty, danger, and tension.
This book is perfectly-paced and packed with action and adventure, set in Hell of all places. Sheoul is an unpredictable and evil place that creates a lot of barriers for Reaver and Harvester. To say that their journey to find a Harrowgate out of Sheoul is dangerous would be an epic understatement LOL. I was not ready for the creepy demons in Sheoul. Larissa Ione's imagination is something else 😵
Reaver and Harvester hated each other at first sight when they were introduced as the Horsemen's Watchers. But they were also attracted to each other, much to their surprise and horror.
Harvester is the personification of "actions speak louder than words," in this case, "barbed words." After falling from Heaven, she had to get rid of all her gentleness in order to survive in Sheoul. But all this time, she's been watching over the horsemen, healing them, and helping them behind the scenes. As much as I love Daddy Reaver, that man is lucky to have someone like Harvester by his side.
And holy hell, now I DESPERATELY NEED REVENANT AND BLASPHEME'S BOOK LIKE I NEED AIR.
P.S. What was Harvester's gift for Logan? I wish she got to hold Logan at long last 🥺

You have to keep in mind that we are dealing with a 5000-year history between Reaver and Harvester. 5000 years worth of lost memories that come back to Reaver. That's a lot to unpack in one book. But with the well-placed flashbacks and the solid relationship and character development, it honestly feels like I read an entire book series about Reaver and Harvester. That's how epic their romance is. And honestly? I wouldn't mind another book about Reaver and Harvester. There's so much history there that I'm sure the author could write more stories featuring these two as the main characters.

Now he's determined to get the rest of the story from the one person who knows, a fallen angel herself.
One problem. She's in hell, and though she's actually on the side of heaven, heaven is determined to forget her... well, one particular douchebag angel by the name of Raphael anyway. (To quote Dean Winchester, "Angel's are dicks.")
Rescue her he does, bringing her out of the pain and darkness of the realm of her father, and all things that were once hidden come into the light too.
There's more to this story- and it changes the lives of just about every character associated with them.
Even though this world felt very familiar- "Hello Supernatural"- it's still manages to be fresh and engaging. (I read it in one sitting and let me tell ya, it aint no small book!) LOVE this author. Sexy as hell... Or heaven? :p

OH WOW. I still need to process everything and the perfect awesomeness that was this book. Too many feels at the moment! My most favorite book and hero I have read in a very long time! I LOVED everything about it... The story, the heroes, the action, the banter, the smexy hotness, the revelations, the power, the all around badassery, the other characters.... And Reaver... *happy sigh* He is just too much. I need to read this again. (probably from book #1 to get over this book hangover).

I liked this book but that is the distinction I liked it and didn't love it. For me Reaver didn't deserve Harvester's forgiveness so easily but that is exactly what happened in this book. I liked seeing how these two had changed compared to who they used to be, there was obviously no going back but the HEA was so not satisfying for me. I must confess though I am squealing for the next book.

I really enjoyed this book, though definitely the second part more than the first. As expected this story was super bloody at first, with lots of torment and pain. Luckily, things pick up quickly and the story of Reaver and Harvester or Yenrith and Voreen comes into light. I was not expecting to like Harvester so much, though I did have an inkling in the last book. Despite Reaver having a dickish past as Yenrith I still love him. He's got to be my favorite hero in all of these books so far.
I was not expecting a couple twists that happened! and I was definitely happy with Raphael's comeuppance. I have to admit I was sorely disappointed by so many angels being just as horrible as the demons. You'd think they'd get smited or something.
I did have a bit of an issue with the audio. It was a new narrator and she randomly gave accents to people - like Cara was British but as we know from her book she is American. She also made Eidolon sound really nasal... nope! She did a good job with the main characters but I disliked my previous characters sounding weird.
I was not expecting a couple twists that happened! and I was definitely happy with Raphael's comeuppance. I have to admit I was sorely disappointed by so many angels being just as horrible as the demons. You'd think they'd get smited or something.

The book opens with Harvester’s torture, and it’s not pretty. She’s being tortured by her father, Satan, and you can only imagine the things he’s doing. It would be more accurate to list the things he hasn’t done to her, but needless to say, she’s in a very bad place and is hanging on by a thread. She’s literally hanging by her fingers and is blind (her eyes were removed) and deaf (her eardrums shattered) when she’s rescued by the last man she ever thought would come get her, Reaver.
To say these two have a volatile past would be an understatement. When they were both watchers over the Horsemen, she for the dark side (working undercover for heaven which no one knew about) and he for heaven, Harvester did things she’d rather forget in order to keep her undercover status going. That included holding and torturing Reaver. They’ve gone back and forth for years but when Harvester’s truth is uncovered, Reaver can’t just let her suffer at the hands of Satan. Plus, by rescuing her, she has the potential to help them stop the resurrection of Lucifer, who’s about to be reborn and bring death and chaos to the world.
In addition to all the craziness going on between the human/hell/heaven worlds, Reaver and Harvester have a past that they’re both starting to remember and it’s a past that goes back thousands of years and includes a love so deep, complete with a blood bond, and these two characters start to realize that they once meant so much to each other and the feelings they shared are starting to come back in full force too.
First up, Reaver and Harvester’s relationship. I’m a sucker for a couple who were separated by circumstance not of their doing, in this case memories were wiped away and powers muted, and the people Reaver and Harvester once were each went through their own kind of hell to grow and change and become the people they are today. What I appreciated most was even when Harvester and Reaver were connecting the dots and realizing who they each are and what they once meant to each other, they never went back to those original people, when they knew each other thousands of years ago. We get snippets throughout the story, seeing them both as young, best friends. But betrayal, hurt and powerful feelings tore their friendship and love apart and while it’s painful for them to remember and try to reconcile the fact that they’ve finally found each other again, they remain true to the people they are today. Harvester will never be that naïve, sweet young girl who carried a torch for Reaver. And Reaver will always live with the memories of how he treated Harvester after finding out about a big secret that she kept from him. I liked being able to see the people they both were before life and thousands of years of both good and bad decisions shaped them into who they are today. They don’t move backward, they are who they are and I loved that they could find that same chemistry and spark together now that bonded them so many years ago.
Their romance is all across the board. Early in the series, these characters had nothing but hate between them, but there was always something that connected them in some way. I admit, I never thought early on that they’d be a couple, no way. But as the series went on, it became clear that not all was as it seemed, especially with Harvester, you could see the connection between them on page starting to come together. They’re sexy but while the book isn’t filled with sex scenes, what we get is sinfully hot and well worth the buildup. One last quick thought about Harvester - for much of the series she’s, to put it plainly, a bitch. But after she’s outed for what she’s been truly doing all these years, working for the bad guys but for the cause of the good guys, I started to really, really like her and feel for her. Being around Reaver just softens her edges a little bit and she’s a heroine that I ended up enjoying and it makes me want to reread the series and focus on her now.
There are a lot of series answers, more questions and big reveals that happen, especially related to Reaver and his bloodline. I can’t say much because one juicy reveal related to Reaver was a fun surprise and will lead into the next book – oh yes, there’s more coming! We get appearances by not only the four horsemen and their significant others, but with scenes taking place at Underworld General, we get to see plenty of old friends from the early Demonica books as well. The main series storyline here focuses on a war building between heaven and hell and while a big threat is dealt with in Reaver, it’s far from over and I can’t wait to see how it plays out.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked up Reaver, but I wasn’t expecting to not be able to put the book down. At all. I was excited to get to know Reaver better, he was a character that I always looked forward to seeing on page in previous books, but I wondered how Ione would make a romance between he and Harvester work. Harvester goes through a lot, she’s already been through so much and she keeps her snarky, sarcastic attitude throughout. I loved seeing her connect with Reaver and the glimpses we get of her being just a little vulnerable with him, a feeling that she’s had to beat down in order to survive all these years. She lets herself hope and believe for the first time in ages that something good between her and Reaver might happen and when their past catches up to their present, it’s painful, hard, sexy and romantic all rolled into one. I went into this story knowing I’d enjoy it, Ione’s books always have it all, great world building, captivating characters and humor, but I didn’t expect to be so taken with Reaver and Harvester and it’s one of my favorite books in this fantastic series.
Harvester’s heart soared. Reaver had offered to castrate an archangel for her. How sweet was that? (…) Oh yes, she liked the way Reaver rolled.

The book opens with Harvester’s torture, and it’s not pretty. She’s being tortured by her father, Satan, and you can only imagine the things he’s doing. It would be more accurate to list the things he hasn’t done to her, but needless to say, she’s in a very bad place and is hanging on by a thread. She’s literally hanging by her fingers and is blind (her eyes were removed) and deaf (her eardrums shattered) when she’s rescued by the last man she ever thought would come get her, Reaver.
To say these two have a volatile past would be an understatement. When they were both watchers over the Horsemen, she for the dark side (working undercover for heaven which no one knew about) and he for heaven, Harvester did things she’d rather forget in order to keep her undercover status going. That included holding and torturing Reaver. They’ve gone back and forth for years but when Harvester’s truth is uncovered, Reaver can’t just let her suffer at the hands of Satan. Plus, by rescuing her, she has the potential to help them stop the resurrection of Lucifer, who’s about to be reborn and bring death and chaos to the world.
In addition to all the craziness going on between the human/hell/heaven worlds, Reaver and Harvester have a past that they’re both starting to remember and it’s a past that goes back thousands of years and includes a love so deep, complete with a blood bond, and these two characters start to realize that they once meant so much to each other and the feelings they shared are starting to come back in full force too.
First up, Reaver and Harvester’s relationship. I’m a sucker for a couple who were separated by circumstance not of their doing, in this case memories were wiped away and powers muted, and the people Reaver and Harvester once were each went through their own kind of hell to grow and change and become the people they are today. What I appreciated most was even when Harvester and Reaver were connecting the dots and realizing who they each are and what they once meant to each other, they never went back to those original people, when they knew each other thousands of years ago. We get snippets throughout the story, seeing them both as young, best friends. But betrayal, hurt and powerful feelings tore their friendship and love apart and while it’s painful for them to remember and try to reconcile the fact that they’ve finally found each other again, they remain true to the people they are today. Harvester will never be that naïve, sweet young girl who carried a torch for Reaver. And Reaver will always live with the memories of how he treated Harvester after finding out about a big secret that she kept from him. I liked being able to see the people they both were before life and thousands of years of both good and bad decisions shaped them into who they are today. They don’t move backward, they are who they are and I loved that they could find that same chemistry and spark together now that bonded them so many years ago.
Their romance is all across the board. Early in the series, these characters had nothing but hate between them, but there was always something that connected them in some way. I admit, I never thought early on that they’d be a couple, no way. But as the series went on, it became clear that not all was as it seemed, especially with Harvester, you could see the connection between them on page starting to come together. They’re sexy but while the book isn’t filled with sex scenes, what we get is sinfully hot and well worth the buildup. One last quick thought about Harvester - for much of the series she’s, to put it plainly, a bitch. But after she’s outed for what she’s been truly doing all these years, working for the bad guys but for the cause of the good guys, I started to really, really like her and feel for her. Being around Reaver just softens her edges a little bit and she’s a heroine that I ended up enjoying and it makes me want to reread the series and focus on her now.
There are a lot of series answers, more questions and big reveals that happen, especially related to Reaver and his bloodline. I can’t say much because one juicy reveal related to Reaver was a fun surprise and will lead into the next book – oh yes, there’s more coming! There's a reason Larissa Ione is one of my favorite authors. Her stories drag you in from the beginning and her characters always make you fall in love because they elicit strong emotions out of you that you never saw coming.
Reaver's story has long been coming. Ever since he showed up in the Demonica series he's intrigued readers with his wild and wicked ways, despite being an angel. We've all been curious about the past that had been taken from his memories, and now, finally the truth is revealed.
Harverster and Reaver's relationship has always been destructive, and while they were Horsemen Watchers for opposing teams on the Heaven and Hell armies, their hatred for each other always seemed to have gone deeper than difference of lifestyles. Once Reaver finds out he was once Yenrieth, that the Lords are his overgrown children, and that Harvester was truly a fallen angel working for Heaven, he sets out to rescue her from the deepest part of hell, where only Satan and his inner circle reside. Daddy dearest wants his daughter back, and is determined to make her life a living hell (literally!) for betraying his trust. But as an angel, Reaver has been warned against her rescue, she knew what she got herself into from the beginning, but despite what the Archangels say, we all know he's not going to sit idly by while the only other person who knows his past is being held captive.
Their relationship was not easy to redeem, honestly to this day I'm still not sure how I feel about it at all. I love that Reaver finally gets his memories back and that he gets a HEA too, but I wasn't overly fond of Harverster during LOD so it was difficult for me to truly appreciate their love. I did, though, like to see their pasts collide with their present and watch them become so much more than they once were, and than they are now. At the beginning, Harvester still doesn't know that he is Yenrieth, but once she finds out, old hurts and hate come to the forefront and they not only wreck havoc on her emotions, but on Reaver's as well. His memory comes back in spurts and the more he is with Harvester, the more he sees Verrine.
Love, lies, betrayal and a brewing war are all packed into this 400 page book that you will not be able to put down. There are secrets that not even Heaven can redeem or Hell escape, but once it all comes full circle, every loose end is tied and properly knotted leaving this reader one happy camper. I loved seeing cameos from past characters, though I would have loved more of a certain seminus demon *cough* Shade! *cough* minus one weremate, but it's always fun catching up with old friends and seeing how they are still the same as ever. This is one book you'll want to pick up and reread over and over again. I'm sad to have to close this book and read on, but Larissa that wicked little minx still has more surprises in store for us all (;

Initial Thoughts: Wow. Just wow! Reaver goes to Sheoul to rescue Harvester from eternal torture by her loving father Satan. This is one romp through almost every part of Hell and is full of every imaginable demonic beastie. There's also lots of cameos from our favorite demonic doctor Eidolon and of course, our four ponies and their families and pups. Full review to come closer to the release date.
The Review:
Throughout the Lords of Deliverance series, Reaver was one of my favorite characters. He always seemed to be on the side of good, fighting scary demons, and he helped to thwart the imminent apocalypse. In Reaver, we finally learn more about Reaver’s background and his earlier relationship with Verrine.
Reaver is epic and action packed. Most of our favorite and not-so-favorite characters from the Demonica series make an appearance in this book. Reaver is essentially a rescue mission, where Reaver (going against the archangels’ instructions, risks all to journey to Sheoul to rescue Harvester. (I won’t go into the why – it gets spoilery too fast – but needless to say, these two have some interesting history – *zipping lips now.*
The book then becomes a fast paced escape from the many regions of Sheoul with Satan’s armies in fast pursuit. There were so many demons, each scarier and deadly than the one before. The world building is so convincing, so well done, that as you read the story, it feels as if you are there, in the middle of the action.
Of course, exacerbating the situation is the meddlesome Gethel, a former watcher who is really up to no good. Yup, really bad things could spawn from Gethel.
We get a glimpse into Reaver’s past as Yenreith, where he was not the nicest character and how he hurt the young and impressionable Verrine by just being a stupid male. Some juicy revelations follow. (Yes, you really must read this book).
As mentioned above, there are some great cameos from our favorite Horsemen. It’s nice to see a touch of Happily Ever After for some of them, although their fate is intertwined with that of Reaver’s. We even get to see our favorite demon doctor and his staff over at UGH – Underworld General Hospital.
Amazing. Epic. Fantastic. Can’t wait for the next book – Revenant’s story.
