From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby comes The Stand-In, the newest novel in her beloved Single in Seattle series, featuring Drew Montgomery!

I don’t like my new boss. Not at all.

London Ambrose is a spoiled billionaire’s daughter. And now she’s the new co-owner of the Seattle football team, but that doesn’t mean that she knows diddly squat about football.

There’s nothing I hate more than having someone micromanaging me, shadowing my every move, and giving me their two cents on Every. Little. Thing. as I coach MY defensive line.

I don’t care about new team jerseys and branding or answering her million and one questions about how I do my job. But, I can’t help but come to her defense when an old flame shows up and starts harassing her. I’m a Montgomery. We don’t let anyone mess with women.

Now, I’m suddenly in a fake relationship, pretending to date the gorgeous billionaire and learning so many surprising things about this captivating woman that I just can’t seem to stay away from her.

When the lines between our fake relationship and real relationship blur, and my initial distaste for her turns into desire, I find myself coaching the most important game of my life - do I let my guard down or do I let London Ambrose walk away forever?

5 Star Review The Stand-In (Single in Seattle #5) by Kristen Proby

The Stand-In is book five in the Single in Seattle series and it was a wonderful addition to the series. This is Drew Montgomery and London Ambrose’s story and it was an entertaining, well written story with characters that you cannot help but fall for.

From the first chapter I was riveted to the story that Ms. Proby wove.

I particularly loved the relationship that Drew developed with Caleb, it was heartwarming. I liked these two as a couple, their chemistry sizzles and it was entertaining to watch their relationship develop.

Their journey to a happily ever after wasn’t easy with outside influences causing issues; but it was heartwarming.

Like Father, Like Son.

Drew is a NFL coach for Seattle. He’s young, 26, but he knows what he’s doing. Due to having 5 concussions, Drew had to retire his cleats his junior year of college. Now he’s successful and well recognized in the football community. Coming from a large family full of all different talents, Drew is loved and has a good head on his shoulders.

London and her brother, and the help of their dad, purchase the Seattle NFL team. London is more involved and the face of the business. She drives Drew mad. Asking questions he feels are pointless. Like reviewing the new jersey’s she designed. She’s also a single mom to a 10 year old but the public doesn’t really know. She likes to keep business and family life separately. Weekends are reserved for her son and she makes sure she drops off and picks up Caleb every day.

One day London’s scum of an ex shows up demanding for her to give him another chance. She says no but he doesn’t let that stop him. Drew shows up with her coffee order and he pretends to be her boyfriend. This shuts up her ex until the gala that evening.

At the gala, feelings come to the surface and Drew states he wants a real shot with London.

These two have to face a few battles. Trust, single parenting, parents, public view… but all these make them stronger.

The relationship Drew and Caleb was so cute. Drew’s dad dated his mom when she was a single mother of twin girls, now Drew is falling for London who is a single mother. A true, Like Father/Like Son.

Enemies to lovers
Office Romance
Found Family

Reverse Age Gap (5years)

The dynamic between the current NFL Quarterback Coach Drew Montgomery and the team’s owner London Ambrose is interesting to say the least. It’s a slow burn that starts with a bit of annoyance and lack of understanding who the other truly is. When London’s ex shows up at the office being less than respectful Drew’s protective Montgomery instincts kick in and he commits to being her date to an event in an effort to convince the ex they are a couple.

Little did they know that all they needed was a little time together to find some common ground and appreciation for one another. There is more to each of them than meets the eye and once they start peeling back the layers they find a love so sweet and true. Then there is sweet Caleb who melted everyone’s heart and made this story even sweeter.

Single in Seattle has been everything I needed and more! The Stand-In gave us more Brenna and “Old Caleb” and it was so fun! We also get a girls night and all the fun sexy talk that comes with it!

“She’s everything I never dared to wish for."

Oh, this series just gets better and better with each book, and this one definitely did not disappoint!

I loved watching Drew and London's relationship grow from annoying boss with too many questions (Drew's inner thought) to fake love interest (to ward off London's pompous ex) and then to serious relationship status (both fell for one another..... hard)! Of course, Drew had me falling hard for him with his love for Caleb and making sure he felt included. Their story was just a beautiful, heartfelt, feel-good read!

As always, you can't have a Single In Seattle book without visits from some of our favorite Montgomery family members, which has a tendency to leave me with the biggest smile on my face after reading.

If you haven't started this series yet, you are absolutely missing it, and I highly recommend you grab your copies today!

. Another member of the Montgomery family that had me absolutely enamored. I have been reading the Montgomerys since Luke and Nat, and now we are into the next generation, and I still can not get enough. I absolutely adored Drew and London! These two are such wholesome loving and strong characters, and I love that they never skirted their way around their feelings and attraction for one another.
Drew is the perfect catch. He falls for London, while loving and accepting her son as his own. London is a strong and Independent single mom to ten year old Caleb. Drew comes to her rescue one night at a work gala when London’s ex shows up and wants her back.
I loved that the author didn’t draw this out of them playing back and forth with one another and fighting their feelings. The two of them acting on their feelings and being honest with one another was real and the breath of fresh air I so desperately needed.
This series may have some of the best world building and character development I have ever read. I feel like with every addition to the series, in addition to giving new characters their own stories, the writer never stops developing the previously written characters.
I was so happy to get the final epilogue written from Drew’s mother’s point of view. I ended this book with a warm and fuzzy feeling for Caleb and London’s HEA and excitement for Liam’s story coming next! This was the perfect weekend read !

This started out good for me, but it fell a bit flat. I didn’t really see the chemistry & connection as they got together within the first 5 chapters. Nor did I see the tension since the MMC supposedly was “annoyed” by her in the beginning of the book. I also understand that these books are family oriented since Drew has a big family, but there just seems to be TOO much family in this book where I feel like I barely read Drew & London’s story. I did really like Caleb’s character, and the dynamic he has with his mom, London.

“But you never have to worry or wonder what I’m feeling. It’s as simple and terrifying as that.”

Everyone stop what you’re doing right now and add The Stand-In by Kristen Proby to your TBRs. This book is fantastic. It has an absolutely adorable plot, incredible characters, a beautiful family saga, and swoon-worthy romance (not to mention…some spice).

London and Drew are just perfection. I absolutely loved the idea of a woman owning a football team, especially since it is extremely uncommon in the sports industry. Despite the lack of respect she received in the past, London works extremely hard and truly cares about her jobs. She’s strong, independent, and a wonderful mother to her son Caleb. Drew is this sexy, sweet, protective, and genuine character that cares so deeply for the people he loves. He deserves the world. When the two get together fireworks happen. You all will definitely fall in love with them.

The side characters are equally incredible. Caleb, London’s son, is one of the most wonderful characters in the entire book. I love that Kristen included how he was feeling as his mom and Drew begin to explore their relationship. He’s included in almost every chapter, which is really refreshing, especially since this book has the single mom trope. London and Drew never failed to include Caleb in their relationship, which was really special.

The plot is just swoon-worthy and so much fun to read. There’s no third-act breakup and the relationships between all the characters are really well developed (especially with Drew’s family).

Going into this book, I hadn’t yet read any other Kristen Proby book. However, after reading The Stand- In, I am absolutely going to start reading more of her books!

Massive thanks to the author & Valentine PR for the gifted copy, which I voluntarily read & reviewed.

The Stand In by Kristen Proby is a delightfully cozy sports romance between professional football team’s co-owner, London Ambrose & the football team’s quarterback coach, Drew Montgomery. This book has me in the best kind of feels with it’s perfect lovey dovey story mixed with some steam & finally, enough of gooey warmness from all the lovely family vibes to fill up a cup of hot chocolate.

This is #5 in the Single in Seattle series, but this is the first book I’ve read in this series & it can easily be read as a standalone. However, now that I’ve read one in this series, I want to read them all! I love this family so much & this is the perfect kind of read to escape into.

The Stand In is perfect for fans of
🏈 Sports Romance
🏈 Co-Owner Meets Coach
🏈 Single Mom
🏈 Big Family

The Stand-In put a smile on my face throughout the whole book. The relationship between London & her ten year old son, Caleb, was heartwarming. Caleb, in general, was fantastic, adorable & realistic while also still providing lots of laughs. Drew was such a good man, a good hero & the perfect match for London & her son.

The undercurrent of family throughout was joyful & cheerful. The fact that Drew’s family is gigantic, highly entertaining with intriguing back stories & ever-present was just perfect.

I am so curious to see who is next & what their story may be. I cannot wait to read another Kristen Proby & I highly recommend giving this a read!

Sitting here in the candlelight, I’m not sure if she’s ever been more beautiful. Then again, I think that every day.

This was a cute little palette cleanser that was just way too insta love for me. It was my first book by Kristen Proby and I was not too impressed.

The book felt a bit superficial and a lot insta love (I realize the former is probably to a large part due to the latter). The characters felt really distant to me and it did not help that they brought up each other’s hotness a lot. Although, since them actually getting to know each other and getting closer was not really described, there was not a lot of else going on.

I loved the family element in this book and the fact that the author has several books and series in the same universe. That might have also been the reason why the amount of side characters being mentioned felt a bit intimidating at times.

The story itself was cute and there were basically no adversities for the MCs romance. If superficial insta love books are your thing, you will enjoy this book. Unfortunately I like my books to have a lot deeper dive into the minds and thoughts of the characters and like to see the build up of the relationship.

I received an ARC of The Stand In in exchange for an honest review

Oh…my…word!!!

Drew takes the cake! That man is a special breed all on his own. Not only with the way he treated London like an absolute QUEEN, but the way that he treated little Caleb like he was his very own from the day they met. I must say…he learned from one of the best.

Drew & London didn’t always see eye to eye. As the new owner of the NFL Team Drew is an assistant coach for, he doesn’t believe that London is all in on her part of the ownership. After all, she never comes to the games to watch the guys do what they actually get paid for. But when he stumbled upon a man disrespecting her in her office, he couldn’t have that. That’s the moment that everything changed.

What started out as a farce very quickly changed to something more. And the way that these two talked everything out & were so honest with each other throughout the entire thing just made my heart smile. They both found exactly what they were looking for in each other. They both found someone who saw them for the very real person they were and not who the public expected them to be.

And like I mentioned before, the way that Drew was with little Caleb just got me. Even on the rare occasion when Caleb wasn’t the “perfect” kid he always seemed to be, Drew stepped in to have the “man to man” talk with him without hesitation. And I loooooved the way that all of the Montgomery clan completely embraced London & Caleb. The whole Old Caleb name had me absolutely cracking up. And the way that Drew’s parents didn’t even hesitate to treat Caleb as their own grandchild…my heart seriously loved it.

There’s so much more to discover in this wonderful Montgomery world in Seattle…& I am here for it all!

Leave it to me to start a series multiple books in 😂 At least they’re standalone. From workplace antagonists to fake relationship to real deep relationship, this was less of a fake dating story and more of navigating a relationship with a single mom and as a single mom. Drew really stepped into his role as a stepfather figure, while also not being overwhelming and being exactly what London and Caleb needed while also providing them his own family; it’s a lot of nurturing that London and Caleb weren’t used to. London also opened up and let someone in, and realized that she doesn’t have to be the one to do everything. I really enjoyed this one and seeing how wholesome the Montgomery family is. I’ll definitely have to read more of their stories, and I can’t wait for the next one!

Tropes:
- Billionaire’s daughter
- Female owner of team
- Football coach
- Workplace romance
- Found family
- Fake dating (small part)
- Single mom

Thank you Valentine PR and Kristen Proby for this early copy!

⭐️3/5 | 🌶️ 3/5 | Workplace Romance | Single Mom | Billionaire | Team Owner x Head Coach | Some Fake Dating

This was a really easy quick read for me and I liked a lot of the elements thrown-in especially the single mom aspect. There is SOME fake dating, for like 10 mins and thats it - so for those who enjoy that trope, i wouldn’t expect it much.

I always enjoy reading about a strong FMC and in this case, London was exceptional. Being a billionaire, single-mom, she still chooses to do things on her own with her adorable son, Caleb. She isn’t afraid to enjoy her wealth, but at the same time has the restraint and humility that may be rare in her world.

Drew is definitely a confident, overprotective alpha dog. He’s very secure in himself and we love ourselves a man that is forward and unafraid to express his feelings. I loved his dynamic with his extensive family, as well as London’s son - those were the moments I enjoyed the most.

I was confused by a few inclinations on certain tropes. I felt like the author wanted to go there but not quite. At first, i seemed like it would be an enemies to lovers, but just like the fake dating it lasted like two minutes. There were a lot of conflicts that were also resolved almost too easily for me and in the height of it, was kind of set aside. I would’ve expected more story between London and her dad.

The MCs practically had an instant connection. They chemistry was really good, sometimes leaned toward a little too cheesy for me. The highlight of the book was seeing London easily fit-in to Drews family and how lil Caleb just stole the show and made everyone fall in love with him.

M/F Romance
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

I love this family. This is the series that just keeps on giving.

When Drew finds himself coaching at his young age, he can't help but feel proud of himself. He loves what he does. What he doesn't love is having a team owner who cares of uniforms and micromanages stuff.

London knows what people see when they look at her. Spoiled, non football owner. However, London knows she's smart and knows that she'll work her tail off for this team. So what if people don't trust her right away. She knows she's doing the work and will gain their trust. But, when London's old flame comes sniffing around again, London can't help but be frustrated with the double standard her father has.

When Drew saves London from a disastrous encounter with her ex, their fake relationship will take on a life of its own. Drew will embark on a path he never saw himself going down and London will learn that sometimes, the risk is worth it.

You will fall in love with these characters and will want to read this series from the first book.

Obsessed with this series! Drew thought he would be a football player in his professional career, but things changed, and he pivoted to coaching, being the youngest NFL coach in the league. London and her brother purchase the NFL team Drew coaches for, and she is very involved in the day-to-day of the team and business, which makes Drew crazy, although she’s just trying to learn. Everything changes when her ex-boyfriend shows up demanding she give him another chance, and Drew steps in and pretends to be her boyfriend, thus turning a fake relationship into a real one. Drew learns that there is so much more to London than being the team owner, as she is a single mother and lives an extremely normal life in comparison to the money and fame she has. I loved this book and can’t wait for the next installment in this series of the next generation!

A story with some of my favourite tropes: single parent and fake dating yet it did not deliver what I expected from it.

A light romance between a coach and the owner of the team, for whom he is coaching. Drew says he can’t stand his boss London but he doesn’t seem to really feel it since he decides to pose as his fake boyfriend.

The beginning of the story for me was very promising. I really liked the pace of the story, and that everything between the characters was evolving. But later on when they start to fake date, I feel like this element was a little bit forgotten later on in the story. Rhey go to some kind of a gala as a couple and then this whole fake dating just kind of fades away.
I’m not gonna lie, I’m not a big fan of the so-called fast burns meaning when the characters get together straight away. There are already feelings between them and this is the main reason why I didn’t really like the story as much as I thought I would be. I thought that single parent trope and fake dating always deliver, and they will never bore me, but sadly in this story these tropes weren’t as good as I thought they would be.
Also, the more I got into the story the less connected I was with it. At the beginning I was so invested in the story. I really liked the pace, the characters and their behaviour, but getting further and further into the book I started to disconnect with it and the last 100 pages I was just reading to finish this story in order to give my honest review about it.
I think that another reason why this story didn’t deliver as much as I hope it would is the fact that it is the fifth book in the series, which I haven’t read before, but it’s supposed to be a standalone book so I thought that I could read it without knowing what’s happened in previous books, but I feel like I was a bit thrown into the middle of the story and that’s why some of the elements of feel like we’re a bit felt for me to be rushed.

I’m not reading the series in order only reading about the couples I am interested in. Caleb and Brynna’s son Drew’s love story seemed interesting. I liked that London the main female character, wasn’t a carbon copy like Olivia and Stella, maybe because of the single mother angle but the story was sweet yet cliche. Also nice touch that there wasn’t a third act break up. It was way too mid to give it anything more than 3 stars and the whole cousins talk is becoming almost ridiculous do they not have friends that are not blood related ? I do enjoy the parents POVs Proby always adds in.

We are finally getting a book for one of Will and Meg’s kids Erin and I’m glad it will be away from all the cousins in a spin off series in Montana. The other kids I’m interested in seem quite young so I don’t think we will be getting a book for them in a while.

I freaking loved this one so much! Kristen has a way with her words that pull you into the story and won't let you go! Drew will have you swooning, and London will have you cheering for her, and let's not forget Caleb, he will steal your heart! 5 Seattle stars for this one!
London has been working hard most of her adult life with her brother, she works out of the team office, and Drew thinks she's just a spoiled girl, till he really gets to know her, and her son, and he's hooked! London deals with a lot from her father, and Drew gets a front row view of how hard she has it! He wants her, and adores her son! What more could London ask for! Once she meets his family, she realizes all she and Caleb have missed out on! She's not only falling for him but his family also!
I couldn't put this book down I loved it so much! I can't wait for the next one in this series! Kristen never disappoints with her words, and this one is a must read! Grab it asap!

Kristen Proby is back baby with a brand new book in her swoony and addicting Single in Seattle series.. a spin off to her infamous With Me in Seattle series and y'all, I swear these books continue to get better and better with each new couple.

The Stand-In gives us London and Drew's story and be still my heart. These two were absolutely EVERYTHING in all the ways yall. I devoured their story, not coming up for air until long after the pages quit turning. They were a breath of fresh air and their story was nothing short of perfection.. sweet, swoony, complicated at times, and packed with so so so so many feels y'all.

I seriously never want the line of this family to end. Kristen has a certain way with her words and I'm addicted to all the things her.

I can't recommend this author enough y'all.

I absolutely love this series! The huge Montgomery family always has something great going on.

This is Drew's story. Former Sea Hawks' Quarterback, Will Montgomery, is Drew's uncle. Drew is now the coach of the Sea Hawks and London Ambrose is a co-owner. I read PLAY WITH ME, at the same time with this book, so that I could identify which character belonged to which set of parents and that helped immensely.

I loved Caleb, London's son, and how Drew worked hard to assure Caleb that he wouldn't be pushed aside while Drew pursued London. Lots of surprising conflicts in this story, especially with London's parents. Talk about horrible people!

This was absolutely delicious!! Drew, aka Coach McHottie rase up to all my exception and then some!!!

And London, oh boy, what a surprise, I did not see the single mom trope coming, and I was here for very second of it. So fierce and independent, she was kick@ss as ms. Proby female leads, while being a single mom.

Kristen Proby just knows how to grab us in, and keep us captivated for every page of her books. The Stand In was a clear example of it, sexy, emotional and just the perfect amount of funny and sweet, Drew and London’s love story completely won my heart! And yes, already counting down the days to the next in the series, because I have a feeling Liam is the next to fall, or should I say, fall AGAIN?!

i’m a sucker for a single parent book & kristen wrote london really well! her relationship with caleb was so special. she made him her priority & always put him and his safety first. drew fit right in right in with them & loved caleb and london so much. they made the cutest lil family!

at the center of everything, this book was about family and i just loved that so much <33

4.5 stars for this lovely dip into the world of the Montgomerys. Always time well spent and The Stand-in lives up to expectations. Drew and London spark off each other as Drew, a young but very able coach, contends with his irritation at London, his new boss, who is distracting him from all the stuff that matters!! But call on the protective, chivalrous side of any Montgomery man and you have a man who will go to bat with and for you.
This romance developed beautifully. Yes it is a fake relationship and we do all know what that means, but in the hands of Kristen Proby, we know we are going to have a fabulous read and this is just that! Add in the delightful Caleb and we have a total winner. 💖💖💖💖

I rarely do not finish a book but this one just didn't work for me. And I tried. I really did try.

This is my first Kristen Proby book so perhaps had I been more familiar with her earlier stories, or with the characters from previous books in this series, this might have been a better fit for me.

But as it was, at just 33% in, I felt no connection with the characters or story and couldn't continue.

Another Single in Seattle that hit all the spots. I really enjoyed Drew and Londons story. Kristen Proby writes women billionaires so well. Drew was the perfect person to match with London. Loved the way Drew and Caleb formed their own bond on their own terms. I always like when the sibling and cousins make their appearance and of course the compound. Well written characters that you root for.
