Let Me Love You

Rate this book
Love is a risk for a woman in danger and a mercenary sworn to protect in a blistering novel of vengeance and redemption by Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brittney Sahin.

Six years ago, Maria Romano got her birthday wish—a kiss from Enzo Costa. A man she could never take her eyes off, but who seemed as haunted as her favorite book boyfriends and strictly off-limits. Just one unforgettable moment in the dark and then he was gone.

Now Maria is a divorced single mom, moving on and open to romance again. Fatefully, it’s with the new head chef at her sister’s Enzo. A gentler man than the one she remembers, yet fire still burns. And a warning still don’t get too close.

Enzo is embarking on a new life, too. And falling in love with Maria shouldn’t happen. He has far too much blood on his hands, and he carries his damaged past like a shadow. But he can’t ignore the impulses drawing them back together.

When his secrets plunge Maria into danger, Enzo must become the man he once was to keep everyone safe. Will he go off the deep end and never find his way back? Or will Maria be enough to save his soul?

I was anticipating for this story but in the end I didn’t enjoy it as much as I expected…

Maybe if I had read some of the author’s previous books it would be easier for me to relate to the current one. It didn’t precisely work as an explicit standalone story.

Enzo and Maria were two characters that I couldn’t connect with and the push and pull between them was unbearable at times.

Enzo’s background was mixed and confusing.

The mafia aspect wasn’t executed that well.
The steamy scenes were plenty, I mostly skimmed through them.

The suspense was decent, however a further elaboration would have made my reading and enjoyment so much better.

Mafia style plot with plenty of suspense and slow burn romance.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is not a typical mafia romance. This is a story of a very slow-burn romance between two people who have been pining for years. Intense feelings between these two are deeply meshed throughout the book.
Enzo has some fierce protection issues for Maria. He is all in but does not feel worthy due to his past activities in life. Maria has loved him forever but also has a past loaded with issues. She did bug me at times by constantly pushing him when he had a lot to work through.
The author keeps us on edge several times and perfectly blends the suspense with their intense feelings. She balances the two lovers and gives them qualities that endear you in this story. Let Me Love You is spicy hot, intense at times, and the ending brings us to a level that just makes the entire book!
This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed the book as a whole. It is well thought out, and paced well, plus she created a fabulous character in Enzo.
Let Me Love You is the story of Enzo & Maria and picks up where book 1, “Until You Can’t” left off.
4.5 ⭐️
Lorenzo (Enzo) Costa, former military & skilled warrior, now head chef at his friend’s restaurant in NC. He made a promise to always protect the daughters of the Romano family, close friends of his parents. He just didn’t count on falling in love with the youngest one, Maria. Enzo has been tormented and troubled since his sister was brutally murdered 13 years ago. He longs for love & a family of his own, yet his past actions leave him feeling unworthy.
Maria Romano is a recently divorced single mom to her baby girl. She oversees the catering business associated with her sister Natalia’s restaurant. Maria has been in love with Enzo since she was a young girl. After divorcing her cheating spouse, she is hell bent on making her own way and discovering what she wants in life. To find happiness. Sadly, Enzo will not be part of that plan, which has left her heartbroken once again.
An encounter with an old friend shatters Enzo’s world, forcing him to re-evaluate everything and his attempt to leave his past behind. With a decades old murder mystery to be solved, forced proximity and one too many family members complicating matters, things for Enzo & Maria go sideways rather quickly and in unexpected ways.
If you are familiar with Sahin’s work you will appreciate the Easter eggs from her other series making cameo appearances here. The story got off to a slow start for me, then picked up steam in the second act. Let Me Love You sets the stage for the continuation of a new series with Enzo’s brothers.
Let Me Love You goes from a slow simmer to a raging inferno over the course of Maria & Enzo's story. The first chapter is a flashback to Maria's 23rd birthday six years ago and gives readers insight into her early relationship with Enzo. It ends with one of the hottest kisses I have ever read and Enzo walking away after telling Maria she is too young and fragile to handle him.
Over the next six years, Maria moves on, marries someone else, and has a daughter with him. The marriage doesn't work out and Maria finds herself living in the apartment that "conveniently" becomes available next door to Enzo. The close proximity causes them to realize that they still have feelings for each other, but Enzo fights it, HARD!
The push and pull between these two is INTENSE! Ezno gives Maria hope when he can't stop from acting on his attraction, but he pulls back every time because of the demons in his past. Those demons eventually come back to haunt him and he finds out just how strong Maria is.
Maria stands by Enzo as danger swirls around him and ends up playing a key role in its resolution. This story is full of suspense and nonstop action. The mysteries of Enzo's past unfold in a captivating tale of revenge and tragedy that I never saw coming. Their HEA was a hard fought battle and worth the wait. I loved this book.
*Side note: Seeing a growly Enzo melt for Maria's little girl, Chiara, had me SWOONING!
The cameos from the Falcon Falls characters were some of my favorite parts. I am completely invested in this interconnected world that Brittney Sahin has created. The well is deep for more books, especially with the Costa brothers and Hudson. I cannot wait.
Thanks so much to Brittney Sahin for this ARC.
DNF at 24%. There is just something about the authors writing style that just doesn’t seem to work for me it seems. The story seems to move at warp speed. There’s no build up. It tells you, instead of letting you experience and feel. There’s no anticipation. And I’m not just talking about their connection. I feel like I’m missing something, like there is a story already out there that I should have read prior… that leaves a feeling of disconnect. I like the characters, and the idea of the storyline, but the execution just doesn’t mesh or flow well for me, so it’s a pass unfortunately for me.
Edited to add: there is a book prior to this one called Until You Can’t that I think had I read it- this one may have felt less rushed and been more enjoyable. Would recommend reading that one prior to this since you meet these MC’s and get their back history in that book.
DNF at 50% the time line was random, I didn’t feel a real connection between the two. If he really was “that guy” he wouldn’t allow her to ever leave after the kiss and also let her move on to be married! It’s just the randomness of the beginning that did it for me
Enzo and Maria....
“Don’t you see? This is why I was never truly able to let go and move on, because justice was never really served.” I pulled back to find his eyes. Him
“And she wouldn’t want you dying to get it.” Her
He brought his lips close to mine. “I won’t.” He kissed me. “We have a list to check off.” Another kiss. “Memories to make.” More kisses. “Babies to have.” A softer, longer kiss this time that nearly distracted me from what he’d said. Him 😍😍
“Breakup, are you kidding?” I pulled back to find her eyes, shaking my head. “I’m lost without you.” I gulped at the emotion pushing up into my throat. “So no, no third-act breakup. You’re my girl. Forever.” Him
‘Let me love you. If you give me a second chance, I’ll spend my life proving I’m worthy of it.’”
so, if you enjoy dual POV mafia romances where the heroine is merely a cipher for the hero's desires and future, you'll love this i suppose. beyond being young, beautiful, and loving to read books, besides being a mother and recent divorcee, there wasn't else much about Maria's character besides being put into danger by "chef" enzo who is formerly and currently a murderer and part of a mafia, or his mom is?
any way, this was ridiculous, steamy but almost mechanically so, and the murder plot about enzo's sister was boring to me. enzo, why are you dragging mama maria into this mess? just leave her at home until you figure out if you are going to murder again.
It took me a little to get into the story. I felt like I was missing something from the past, but as things unfolded more information was given I got invested.
Watching the tension between Enzo and Maria build was entertaining. Enzo was overly protective, brooding, and growly—delicious! I loved how he brought out Maria’s “Fire” side.
I loved everything about this book! Mafia books always have a special place in my heart. With this being my first book by this author, I definitely plan to check out more.
Maria has had her eye on Enzo for as long as she can remember. When her birthday comes, she gets bold and requests a kiss from Enzo that sends her wanting him even more.
While Enzo has wants Maria as bad as she wants him. He has rules he has orders to stick to. Protect Maria always. A terrible things happened to the Costa brothers family that Enzo believes he’s not worthy of love.
There were twists and turns that had me on the edge of my bed not wanting to put the book down. The person behind what happened to Bianca, what a twist! I did not see that coming at all. I enjoyed how the book made you think of a few different scenarios and then completely makes you laugh at yourself for not figuring it out.
If you have not read the first book like myself, you can easily start this book as a standalone.
Thank you to NetGalley EARC! As always, my review is my opinion and thoughts.
Definitely a fan of Brittney Sahin, but this book was a bit of a struggle. The plot and twists kept my interest, but it dragged a few times. Thankfully it picked up towards the end of the book. The relationship between Maria and Enzo was golden with some well placed comic relief. Sadly the spice level was a little mild.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC...in which I am to provide an honest review.
Not a fan of this one
I really love this author books and was so looking forward to Enzo's book but this one was not to my liking. Took a long time to get off. The fist 1/4 of this book was so boring I really wondered if this was this author' s work. I did not like the heroine she had no substance. The whole book was disappointing nothing was likable. If the other brothers have books I hope they are better.
I was sold, via an ad for this book, that it was single mother dark spicy romance with suspense and with mafia/military adjacent themes. This book did not deliver at all.
She is divorced and it seemed the father (ex-husband) was involved in parenting the child, up to a certain point. The child also largely doesn’t factor in to much of the story but is just an element of the FMC personality.
The FMC was so upsetting I could not like her. I wanted to, I really did, I made excuses in my head for her behaviors and thoughts. At a certain point the excuses were not enough. She is an adult who behaves like a child way too much. The FMC even blames her mother for her having married her ex husband.
The MMC was just as painfully annoying. “I love her, but I can’t because I’m heartbroken over my sisters death.” Um ok? He and fmc were literally dry humping and he verbally spews crap about his dead sister….
There is more so much more but I don’t have the want to rehash the atrocities I just read.
TikTok strikes again, I’ll never learn.
In the follow up to Until You Can’t, Brittney gives readers a spicy, romantic suspense filled with tension, action, a twisting plot, and flirting as only the Italians can. This second chance, single parent romance was just what I wanted for Enzo and Maria, and Enzo has secured his place as my favorite of her characters. He’s a good guy, with a morally gray past, and a heart of gold who gives you just a delicious taste of “touch her and…” vibes. This story is a slow burn love story, with a layered action plot line that makes this book hard to put down. And what makes the story even better, Maria is a sassy and strong FMC. Enzo has a checkered past which comes back to haunt him when he thought he’d retired from that life. As we all suspected, he’s far from being just a chef.
Six years ago, Maria and Enzo shared a kiss that neither could ever forget. Their families have long been connected, so he was completely off limits. Enzo’s eyes hinted at a haunted past which intrigued Maria. They shared one kiss, and she didn’t see him again for years. Years later, Maria is now a newly divorced single mother. As the head chef at her sister’s restaurant, she and Enzo have become friends. But the fire still burns between them, even though Enzo makes no moves to do anything about it. He’s a different man now, but he still tries to stay away to protect her from his secretive past. But when temptation becomes too great and his past comes calling, Enzo must once again become the man he left behind in New York.
I am always a fan of a morally gray character and Enzo was a deliciously sweet one who was really a very good guy. I loved how Maria always had feelings for him and that they eventually got to give into everything that burned so hot between them. Plus that pool scene… IYKYK. Brittney gave her longtime fans a few little nods to other books and tied in her Falcon Security series. I always love cameos from old friends. Longtime and new fans will enjoy this fantastic addition to hopefully a new series.
Brittney Sahin has done it again! A slow burn suspenseful book that I read in a day!
Maria had a crush on family friend Enzo and wanted him to be her first. Enzo felt he was too broken and not good enough for her. So on her 23rd birthday he did give her one HOT kiss and walked away.
Fast forward, Maria is now divorced from her husband and living next door to Enzo. Their slow burn led to hot encounters. The scenes between Chiara, Maria’s daughter, and Enzo were swoony!!!! Enzo pledged to take care of Maria and he thinks he has to protect her from him.
When danger comes to Maria’s door, Enzo rushes to protect her and Maria finally sees the man he is. But that doesn’t sway her, she still wants him and loves him. He fights his love for Maria, but he can’t and their chemistry is HOT HOT HOT!
There is danger, sweet moments, slow burn, mafia ties, twists and turns throughout the story. Brittney has a way with her story telling. There are no two books alike! I hope his brothers and Hudson get their books too!
Sahin in the Queen of Teasing, you think the kiss is going to happy, BAM! Knock on the door. You think oh finally its going somewhere...a urgent call comes in! She doesn't let that down in Let me Love you. Finally we get Enzo and Maria, the connection between them never weakened and only strengthened as the story went on. You get her military suspense mixed with mafia, between the two teams the enemy was handled, the name of the family was cleared and they were finally able to move on away from the dark shadow that loomed over them.
Picking up where Until You Can’t ends, leading us on a slow burn, suspense filled, edgy leaning to darkness, twisty story that I could not put down. Starting from chapter one and “the kiss” the emotional roller coaster ride carries you to the end. From the secrets to the angst, Maria and Enzo’s story will be hard to beat.
Intense, slow burn to spicy hot as Maria and Enzo face off. Enzo knows he loves Maria but doesn't believe that he is worthy of her. While Maria who has always loved Enzo, marries another because of his rejection of her. As they uncover treachery and danger Maria discovers her strengths and Enzo learns to accept Maria's ability to make him feel again. Author Brittney Sahin spun a clever mystery that captivated me immediately and I look forward to reading more by her.
Oh my word h my do I love Enzo, really the perfect book boyfriend (well one of many haha) he is so stuck with in his own head he didn’t even see how much she truly loved him not until after her divorce did he finally make his move!
The story had a good plot twist which broke my heart for one of them, everyone deserves to be happy. But the ending of the story was perfect for Enzo and Maria
Let me love you is a book of second chances and redemption and I loved it so much!
Maria’s character starts off as a smitten, love struck young adult. We get to see how her advances towards Enzo starts and her desperate desire towards him. I liked how as the book progressed, she stood her ground and was very assertive to what she wanted. You don’t see that very often with heroines!
Enzo’s character is very conflicted. His character always feels like he’s undeserving of Maria but he wants her to himself. It was nice to see how he turns his character around and slowly starts to realise that he does deserve her.
Overall, I really loved this book. I’m definitely going to check out other books by this author 🥰
Let Me Love You - I found myself not wanting to put this story down not even for a minute. It definitely has you at the edge of your seat. This story is a little darker because of the mafia and family dynamics element, which I liked. This story checks all the boxes for me suspense, murder, friendship & family loyalties, funny moments and even the hot sizzle that you want in romance!
Maria Romano knows Enzo Costa because their families were close. For her, he has always been the one out of reach, but for him she is unattainable. He protects her from a far. Six years ago they kissed and that was it. It shouldn't have happened. Maria is divorced now with an 18 month old daughter and Enzo works with her sister.
Will the past come back to create danger? Can they get close?
An exceptional read! Also loved the Echo & Alpha Team involvement. Can't wait for more. Hopefully soon.
Brittney Sahin is a great author. I’ve read many of her books and loved them.
I have to admit I struggled a bit through this one. The story is very fast paced and I felt some things were missing for me to truly enjoy it. Brittney’s stories will pull you in and this one is no different. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Maria and Enzo.
Mary – ☆☆☆☆☆
4.5 stars
This story starts out with Maria Romano and her friends celebrating her 21st birthday. What she really wants is a birthday kiss from Enzo. The only guy she has ever wanted in her life.
Enzo Costa and his brothers were brought up as protectors for Maria and her sister, they were never to be anything more.
Years later and Maria is celebrating her 29th birthday. Now a divorced, single mom, she is ready to find real love and it comes in the form of Enzo Costa. Who happens to be the head chef of her sister's restaurant.
When Enzo gets news that he wasn't expecting, it takes Maria to calm him. And she will go with him to New York to see that a wrong is corrected. And hopefully, no one gets hurt.
This story is a slow burn for Maria and Enzo, but the suspense and intrigue are there from the beginning.
I didn't realize this was book two, so I will be going back to read book one soon.
Another Booksta recommendation landed in my lap. Brittney Sahin, a new author to me, delivered a slow-burn romance that will have you entrapped in your bedsheets late at night, your eyes glued to the pages, hoping to unveil the mystery before bedtime.
Six years ago, Maria Romano's birthday wish came true when she received a kiss from her dreamy bodyguard, Enzo Costa, who seemed as mysterious as the characters in her treasured books. Fast forward to the present, Maria, now a divorced single mom, finds herself face to face with Enzo again. He's embarked on a new career path as a chef at her sister's restaurant.
As Maria attempts to unravel the mystery that is Enzo, she's puzzled by his reluctance to give in to the undeniable attraction between them. Meanwhile, Enzo grapples with a past filled with regrets and the weight of the secrets his mafia family carries. He believes he's unworthy of Maria, but resisting his feelings becomes increasingly challenging.
“Remind me of who I am from time to time”, I squeezed her hand. “The man you see. The one you think I am, at least.”
I'm glad I took a chance on this book, even though I usually shy away from suspenseful romance. Watching the tension between Enzo and Maria build was captivating. As the suspense reached its peak in the latter part of the book, they confronted unexpected twists and their own intense emotions and undeniable chemistry — and without any third act breakup drama.
"I love watching you eat, especially my food. And if you think for one second I don't love everything about you just as you are.... Lower your arms and let me look at what's mine."
How good was this read? I devoured it in 4 hours.
It was so so good. It checked off many things I look out for in a mafia romance.
It is a standalone, but I hope we get stories from the other Costa brothers.
It is a fast plotline, but with such depth to the plotline.
The writing has a mixture of playfulness, tension, good chemistry, and side characters.
We get to see both sides of their own stories and how their characters grow. Together with the characters, you fall in love and continue rooting for them.
The action was so good, which is something I didn't expect.
Usually, in mafia romance, the focus is on the romance, but the action was well thought out, and it made sense to the plotline.
I thought it wrapped up too quickly, but the plot twist after that got me so excited, and it was so mindblowing that I didn't expect it.
"Be with me. Please. I'm yours. I'll always be yours."
ARC Review:
After sharing a hot birthday kiss 6 years ago, Enzo and Maria have been longing for each other, but when Maria finds herself recently divorced and a single mom, Enzo can’t find it in himself to let her go again.
Whew—this book was hot. I was not expecting it to be this steamy. Enzo and Maria have so much chemistry that I felt like I was going to snap like a rubber band from all the tension, and it wasn't even a slow burn; it was just that good.
I really enjoyed these characters. I have to be in the mood for an emotionally unavailable MMC, but Brittney put just the right amount of charm in Enzo to have me on my knees for the man. He was overly protective, brooding, and growly—delicious.
Brittney is excellent at giving her characters real motives, and it makes the story all that much more believable. Like her other novels, this was fun and swoony, and you go through numerous scenarios before getting the truth, which makes for a wild, twisty ride.
I am shamelessly obsessed with Enzo. An epic alpha hero with a side of Darkness and vulnerability is a deadly thing for my heart. And this man checks each of my boxes. He needed someone sweet, open yet sassy like Maria to pull him out of the guilt and anger and pain consuming his heart. Let Me Love You was an angst filled, action packed and scorching hot romantic suspense. Best friend's sister. Second chance. Brittney Sahin created an intoxicating mix of suspense, passion and emotions.
Enzo Rossi left behind his post Army secret mission days with his brother to become a chef in his best friend Natalia's restaurant. He was in love work her sister Maria for years now but he didn't want his darkness corrupt her pretty soul. Now she is divorced with a cute girl and she isn't hiding her feelings either. When demons of his past come back to haunt him and his family, what would he do to protect Maria?
This was a delicious torturing exquisite slow burn. Enzo & Maria have been doing this sexy dance of push and pull for years now. Not from lack of trying on Maria's part. Years ago she wanted to give him all. But like every stubborn alpha, he decided to be a martyr. Seeing her married to another man was hell to him and you can see his frustrated anguish through the pages. He was on the verge of breaking down and giving up to his love and just then...The truth about his sister’s murderer came out. He need that vengeance, his brothers need him and some really powerful forces like mafia are after them. And this time, Maria won't let him push her away. She has a golden heart. She loved him with all his dark past and tattered secrets and broken pieces. She trusts Enzo won't hurt her and she knows this is the time to show him that she isn't going anywhere.I absolutely loved the jealous possessive super protective side of Enzo that will burn down the world for Maria. I love his softer side too. And his bada&& action hero side is even hotter. The chemistry was crackling and sizzling and with every kiss, every touch, every forbidden move..I felt like I will combust. The action and twists kept me fully occupied and last few chapters took away few years of my life! Enzo didn't believe he deserved someone pure like Maria but she showed him that they are only complete together.
I've been so excited for Enzo & Maria and this did not disappoint!!! Read this in one sitting and loved it!
- single mom
- mafia adjacent
- romantic suspense
- spicy
- t0uch her and unalive vibes
One thing I can always count on with Brittney's books are her plots. They are unputdownable! I kept saying "one more chapter" and before I knew it it was 3am because I just HAD to know how it ended!
I absolutely LOVE Enzo and how protective and sweet he is with both Maria and her daughter is just precious. The push and pull between Maria and Enzo was so well done and their chemistry was explosive. This is definitely one of Brittney's spicier books and I absolutely loved it!
Although this can be read as a complete standalone, Enzo and Maria were first introduced to us in Until You Can't and picks up right after. We also get some glimpses of her Falcon Falls Security and Stealth Ops characters so for fans of her other series like me, you'll love the cameos! This book is also written in first person for those who were curious.
Highly recommend this book!
