There’s one name that has Agent Nala Dekker reaching for the gun holstered to her leg—Tantum Maddox, the one name her partner said before he died in her arms. After three years of searching for the faceless Tantum Maddox, his name has finally surfaced. Nala jumps on the first plane to Boston in chase of her long-awaited revenge. But instead of taking Tantum in for his crime or shooting him—in self-defense, of course—Nala nearly ends up in bed with the killer. So, it probably would’ve been a good idea to find out what her Target looked like before she went after him.

Agent Tantum Maddox has completed his assignment in Mexico... and now it’s time for his revenge. When Tantum finds a mysterious woman in his arms, and after he discovers exactly who she is—his Target—he must decide what to do with the gun concealed beneath her dress. Should he use it on her and kill her? Or spare her life and take her captive until he finds the answers he’s been looking for?

Somehow Nala’s innocence comes into question by the dangerously sexy Tantum Maddox and he accuses her of being a cold blooded killer. But why is Nala the one on trial, for Tantum’s the one who killed her partner—isn’t he? In this torrid twist of betrayal and seduction, will Tantum and Nala resist killing each other? Or worse, when the truth unfolds, will love become the only threat to their vindictive hearts?

Reading this book made feel as if I was watching an action film with tins of steam. I felt like I was living the story with characters with heart pounding, adrenaline rush, swoon moments. Tantum and Nala both are spies and have different assignments but neither realize that they are each targets in a much bigger game. They try to ignore feelings and attraction but they find it’s hard to do when it is so intense and real. I don’t want to spoil this for anyone because this book should be experienced especially all the twists and turns. I loved every minute of this and couldn’t out it down!

I LOVED this book!

A fast paced, thrilling, SEXY as all hell spy novel that was perfect from start to finish. I absolutely loved this The Risqué Target by Kelly Gendron. This book had everything I expect in a romantic suspense. In addition to a rich plot with twists and turns, we have major chemistry between the hero and heroine. You could feel their chemistry through the pages. It was scorching at times. The descriptions of the hero, Tantum Maddox, along with the picture on the cover were all I needed to be sucked right into this epic story!

This book never failed to keep me on my toes. From the beginning all the way until the end I was enthralled. I needed to know what would happen next and who was really behind all of the drama. The writing is excellent. Right way the scenes are suspenseful leaving us needing to know was going to happen. Agent Nala Dekker is a young agent on a mission by her agency NESA. Also working at NESA, who happens to be in the same place as Agent Dekker, is Tantum Maddox. He is also an agent, but he has tons of baggage and mysterious circumstances connect them both.

With a spy novel you never know what you will get. I found that this book was neither cliché nor predictable. I did not see the end coming at all. There were no plot holes. Every issue was closed and accounted for. What I did not expect and was incredibly happy about were the epic erotic scenes.

The author did not fail to deliver some of the hottest sex scenes I have ever read! I love built up anticipation. The level of angst between Tantum and Nala was so intense at times. I loved them both. They each had their own issues but, in the end, stayed true to what they felt was right. I felt the connection was believable.

I loved that the story was told from both POVs, so I was able to see exactly how attracted and affected they were by the other. I wanted them to work it out so badly. I was so vested in their relationship. I must say, I am such a sucker for this romantic spy suspense book but what really put it over the top for me was the writing, the perspectives of each character and how true you could feel everything they were saying was. Last but certainly not least, the sex scenes. They were outstanding. It is not east to write this level of sexual tension. This is the best kind of erotic romance.

I highly recommend this read! This is a 5 star for me, and I will be reading this author’s work in the future. I hope all of her books are this amazing.

This is a fun cloak and dagger story with both Tantum and Nala being agents put against each other. They needed to put aside their personal preconceived notions to work and trust each other . In the process, they also overcome their weaknesses and reluctance to relationships an give themselves a chance.

The story is very basic and predictable. Thanks to all the many spy movies and TV shows, we have a general idea sto what's going on., however the perpetrators perpetrators and the reasons why takes us by surprise. Its a decent one.time read and both aTantum and Nala appear confident and efficient. Their instant chemistry provided the break in the story.

I liked how Nala is shown on equal footing with Tantum and finally fixes the ongoing investigation .

It would have been better if there had been more complexity of both plot and characters . Everything just feels as if its skimming at the top.

All in all a decent read.

I started to read this and just could not continue. While I enjoy that we meet the main characters within the first page, it is just filled with so many cliche's that is hard to ignore. The main character is actively observing and narrating her thoughts on the male lead and its just too many descriptions and not enough action. We got a head to toe detailed description of the male lead and then descriptions on his personality. I really wanted to like this, but its all telling and no showing. The writing is really not my taste.

Nala Dekker is an agent on the hunt for her partner's killer. Tantum is an agent who uses his immensely sexy good looks and charms to get the upper hand on his targets. His most recent target seems to be immune to his charms. Nala loves to be in control but around Tantum she second guesses everything. He wants her walls to come down and take her but knows he is not the relationship type. The book, The Risque' Target, is an enemies to lovers romance with two agents working for the same agency who must work together to uncover the wrongs against them. This book is a slow burn, where the Will They/Wont They factor takes over much of the book. Nala and Tantum's inner dialogue is not what I would expect from badass agents but more like the dialogue of hot and bothered teenagers. There is a scene that could be considered a trigger warning for questionable consent. I would take it as just how you read it because Nala does have her walls up and the author does a good job at showing just how Tantum is breaking them down and if she is honest with herself she does desire him but again, it really is how you read the scene. The storyline is what intrigues me most about the book and that cover is everything. If you have never read a romance book involving secret agents, I would recommend it. Its a very easy read and the steam there. But do remember that it is a slow burn so the payoff is not where you would expect it to be.

I received this arc from Victory Editing for an honest review.
In a book that has two agents working at taking out each other, you come to find out that from the very beginning neither know who the other one is until a meeting at a computer convention. Then after the chance encounter, everything begins to change when Tatum- Maddox is standing in Nala Dekker’s hotel room. What goes from their hot kiss at the airport turns into running for their lives. That is the way the book has you like each of them is fighting each other until they realize they work for the same team and somewhere some is setting him or her or both of them up.
The fast-paced story will keep you turning the pages and each one is something different. As each of them begins to fall for the other one Nala knows that Tatum does not fall in love with anyone even though she feels like she wants to believe him she still feels like he will betray her like he did her dead partner. Now working past her feelings for the man she is more determined to find him and kill him even if it means she dies also just as long as he goes first. A very good story with different twists and turns I did not see happening. Will keep you wanting to stay up until you finish the book. It worth the read. Who doesn't love an enemies to lovers story? Nala and Tantum are both agents, I have to admit that I'm not totally sure who it is that they work for, some kind of private agency rather than the government. Three years ago, Nala's partner died and just before he told Nala that Tantum had killed him. Since then she's been hunting for this mysterious man, having no idea who he is or what he looks like. When they finally run into each other the heat is sizzling, but that's before they realise who each other really is.
This is a fun and really quite hot story. Neither Nala nor Tantum is entirely what they seem and they both have to try and work out what's real when it comes to the other. Neither of them is interested in a relationship but as they grow closer and start to trust one another, it becomes clear that they haven't really got a lot of say in that.
I really enjoyed this book and I'm not sure if it was short, or I just read it really quickly because I was enjoying it so much, but I finished it in one day. Either way, this was a great read and I loved following Nala and Tantum's story and seeing how they might work it all out in the end.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I read this story a couple of weeks ago but forgot to review. I planned on just skimming the story for a refresher but I got sucked right back in.

Nala and Tatum are one of those couples I like to read about. They are always entertaining. They go back and forth like they have been married for years one minute and like they are deepest enemies the next. The tension was off the chart. LOVED IT!!!!

The Risque Target is a twisted tale that started years earlier leading to deaths, bombings, conspiracy and who-done-its. The ironic thing was that Tatum had been clueless to the whys and the who. He was being set up again and again. It will take a brilliant female to help him see the error of his ways and solve who wants him dead.

Nala is my heroine. She won't stop until she solves the problems plaguing her life. OCD has never been put to better use. I have to believe the bosses new exactly what they were doing even if it wasn't right. Tatum better how she ends up on his side.

The book had lots of intrigue. I was shocked on numerous occasions. I thought I had figured it more than once. Boy was I wrong which made this a book I couldn't put down twice.

An exciting romance that combines mystery, danger and suspense!
by sewsummore

Nala and Tanum are both operatives of a security organization known as NESA. Unaware that they have been set up, they meet by chance. Each of them is tasked with investigating the other over their possible involvement in a number of bombings three years ago. Neither one trust the other but the chemistry between them is hard for them to resist. Tanum has a reputation as a heartbreaker, but that is only part of the story. Nala believes that he is the man who killed her partner three years ago and wants to see justice served. I found this book an exciting romance that combines mystery, danger, and suspense. Once I started reading this book I could not put it down. They face danger together as they delve deeper into the crimes, they eventually win each other's hearts and the culprit is revealed in the final exciting and dramatic chapter.

The Risqué Target🎯

Wow, what a story❣️Nala is hunting for the person who killed her partner, three years ago but only has a name to go on and no hint of what the man looks like. Tantum is on a mission looking for his Target...but gets distracted when a beautiful woman asks him for help in a coffee shop ☕️ Unbeknownst to them both, they located each other....but only come to this conclusion later😜

As the story continues, both Nala and Tantum come to the realisation that more is underfoot than either one thought. Will they be able to solve the mystery or will they kill each other before this happens?

A very good story, with great chemistry between the characters and a wonderful suspenseful plot😍 I received an advanced copy and I willingly leave my honest review❤️

Really, really liked this book! I have to admit that I had a bit of trouble getting into the story in the first chapter given all the subterfuge and misdirection but I am so glad that I stuck with it and made it through to the very satisfying conclusion.

Nala (or Airport Girl or Becky or Rebecca) and Tantum (or is it Marcus or the Dark Angel) have some fantastic chemistry. There are some time honored tropes that I enjoyed here including mistaken identity and misunderstood intentions and deathbed confessions. Plus, who doesn't love an alpha hero who believes himself unredeemable, unlovable and not in it for the long haul who sees the error of his ways, right?

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and thoroughly enjoyed it!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, steam, secrets, pain, and heartbreak.

This is Nala and Tantum's story. Tantum is on a mission but then so is Nala. Nala is looking for the person that killed her partner. Tantum is working on finding his target. Little did they know they are looking for each other. Lots of action and chemistry in this story. They will need to work together to solve the mystery and find out what the bigger picture is. If they can figure out that and all the players, they might just solve the mystery. That is if they don’t kill each other first.

I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this story!

It was a fast paced book that kept my interest from the start through to the brilliant ending. The book had everything that I look for in a good read, it was well written, had an additive plot and strong, well developed characters who had some brilliant interaction.

I thought that it was an interesting storyline, well developed and I loved the little twists as the book progressed. It was a wonderful read and one that I thoroughly enjoyed!

It was fast, furious, sexy and romantic – it is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!”

What an exciting, suspenseful read! I have books written by Ms. Gendron in my Kindle and I'm ashamed to say this was my first experience reading her work -- I will definitely be reading those books now! This was romantic suspense at its best -- mystery, intrigue, edge-of-your-seat twists and turns and explosive chemistry between Nala and Tatum. I love reading dual POV's because it helps me get into the character's minds and in this case, their minds were full of feelings and emotions. I loved reading Tatum's POV. Well written, fast moving with a surprise ending! I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.

Nala is after Tantum because she thinks he killed her partner. They work for the same agency and are working to solve the case and find the real killer. They have chemistry that comes off the pages. There are twists and turns and not everything seems they way they are. There is action, romance, and a murder to solve. Nala and Tantum are great together. The interaction between the two is just awesome. This is a fabulous story, and I loved it. The story played out really well. This book is on my will read again list, and that is a short list.

A action packed suspense with so many twists and turns that it becomes impossible to pinpoint who the guilty are, we have conspiracies, bombings, murders all years in the making. Tantum and Nala are an entertaining mix of combustible chemistry and heated discussions and exchanges. Tantum is a bit clueless while Nala is determined for it to make sense and to see the pieces fit.

Absolutely amazing read to keep you intrigued, captivated and turning the pages as fast as you can to find out what is going on and who is behind it. Epic !!!

Love the cover but the blurb cinched it! I have enjoyed many books by this author so taking a chance here was an easy thing.

What did I like? I’m not a huge cloak and dagger fan but the way Nala and Tantum meet is just delicious. The slow burn between the two is truly killer and I enjoyed that more than the actual story line.

Would I recommend or buy? If you’ve read this author before then this is a first in a new series. Two agents after each other but need each other to make it through. I thought it did okay but they’re relationship stands out more than the mystery they need to solve.

Exciting and sexy spy drama. Nala and Tantum end up as each other’s assignments but realize that something bigger is going on. The challenge for Nala is that she believes Tantum killed her partner. As they work to solve the case, fighting their attraction because impossible. I love how Nala keeps Tantum on his toes as he tries to control everything. There is great chemistry between them and the mystery is definitely challenging, had me guessing. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Not always what it seems

Who doesn't love a sexy spy story... Intrigue and Mystery will draw you in. Twists & Turns will keep you guessing. And the Undeniable attraction will have you falling in love with the characters.

Tantum and Nala are spies that are working on different missions. Little did they know, these missions are intertwined. And to make matters more "interesting" they have a strong attraction that keeps drawing them to each other.

Kelly Gendron is one of my go to authors for heat and deep plots. While Tantum & Nala had a strong attraction, they didn't fall into instant love and they had to complete their mission! Going through the journey with them will be as worth it for you as it is for them!

This was an amazing story. I loved the personality of both characters.

Nala was an amazingly strong woman. Though I truly think she met her match when she met Tantum.

I think both of the characters needed some inward healing and I think in this story you get to see who the provides that for each other. You will get to see how the past and the present collide.

This is truly an amazing story and has a lot of steamy parts. Kelly does not disappoint.

I really wanted to love this book. I didn't dislike it though. Nala and Tantum are the main characters in this book. I love their personalities, but I do believe that there are too many coincidences in their meetings. Tantum is the person Nala has tirelessly been searching for. Within the first few chapters she already ran into him twice, without knowing it was him yet. There wasn't enough built up tension and suspense. I wish there was more.

Tantum and Nala are spies. Nala has been looking for Tantum since the death of her partner because his name was the last thing her partner said to her. She doesn't know what Tantum looks like until the two almost end up sleeping together. Both are in for a surprise as they are the target of a much bigger game than they realize. An action packed, steamy read.
