OHKUBO Atsushi

Atsushi Ōkubo (大久保 篤 Ōkubo Atsushi?), also romanized as Atsushi Ohkubo, is a Japanese manga author and fantasy artist known for his work on the manga series Soul Eater, which has been adapted into an anime. Okubo worked as an assistant under Rando Ayamine, on the manga series Get Backers. He also created artwork for various cards for the Lord of Vermillion game.

Atsushi Ōkubo was not a model student and was more attracted to drawing than to learning. At the age of 20, after finishing studies at a manga school where he met Rando Ayamine, the author of Get Backers, he became Rando Ayamine's assistant for two years. Finally, he won a competition at Square Enix's Gangan magazine with his first manga series B.Ichi and it was published for four volumes. After the end of his last manga, he created Soul Eater, still for Square Enix's Gangan magazine, which brought him worldwide success.

By the second volume, this series is already starting to grow on me. I loved Soul Eater so much and that's a huge contribution for why I like this series so much, but I also love the multitude of different qualities about Soul Eater Not!

Once more the wider plot with the witch is quite interesting, and Akane and Clay are definitely a little suspicious, but the coupling with the cutesy girl fun seems a little off in places and the disparity between the two halves can be a little much. I'm interested, and it is a fun read, but it doesn't really stand out.

While not as good as the first volume, I still really got a kick out of this. Many panels had me laughing out loud. At the end there's something really cool. Keep in mind this is a book about people who literally turn into weapons. That's all I'll say!

J’essaie toujours de comprendre comment les relations entre les meisters et les armes fonctionnent. Même si j’ai préféré le premier tome, celui-ci reste une très bonne lecture avec des moments qui m’ont faite rire.

The backgrounds continue to be pretty and the appearance of characters from the main series is fun. The main intrigue of the series just got started up this volume but I'm not too attached to the characters and the frequent slice of life bits are uninteresting. The comedy, too, just isn't working for me.

i loved how each chapter was a new adventure. and im really learning to understand how "partners" work, because in the original story line he didnt have time to discuss it.
also i love the intertwining of characters! liz and patty, jaqueline and kim (who is a witch! thats new information for the NEW soul eat 12 volume!! brilliantly planned!
i really do love all the
characters too! (except anya. i dont dislike her, shes just boring.) and i love akaine! i think hed be cute with tsugumi and i think i like meme with clay.

THE BEST PART was at the flea market and atsushi drew the whole scene AND HE DREW WALDO.
WHERES WALDO, HE DREW HIM AND I FOUND HIM AND IT WAS BRILLIANT AND I LAUGHED FOR DAYS.

While at times a little too...boob/butt-a-licious? for my taste, I'm really enjoying Tsugumi's growing friendships with Meme and Anya, and her difficulty in making a decision about who to partner up with when the time comes. Clay and Akane are pretty interesting as well. And it's especially fun when characters from the original series make an appearance here--Soul and Maka in particular--and I'm enjoying seeing the start of Kim and Jaqueline's relationship. And in this volume, we start to get a better sense of who the main bad guy of the series might be; things take a pretty serious turn right at the end. Looking forward to the next volume!

The second volume of Ohkubo's Soul Eater spin-off series is very busy, but it's nothing this book cannot handle. Between Tsugumi's struggle to pick a partner, Jacqueline's relationship with Kim, the 'traitor' attacks on DWMA and the arrival of new employees at the local cafe, Soul Eater Not! is enjoying a surge in subplots that makes the book a quick moving read. And it is definitely an enjoyable companion to the main Soul Eater series so far.

My complete review of SOUL EATER NOT! volume 2 is up at my blog.

This book deserves a 10/10! It has a great story of a girl looking for the one she loves. It contains an LGBTQ+ crush, which I love sm because not that many books contain things like that! I am a part of the lgbtq+ community so it means alot. Thought I would not recommend this for children who don't have tough skin because there is a bit of nudity, and sexual dialogue . Overall, this is a great book! If I were you, I would either buy it yourself, or head to your local library and check it out!-Eva✨🐸🍄☁

It honestly dragged on a bit hated it it kept slowing down the main plot in a way and i wished i had read the first book instead of the second since i have read soul eater before and not NOT excuse the pun.
So if i find one i will read that and that reminds that i must finish reading all of soul eater.

I really enjoy following the three young NOT students from the DWMA. I like that other characters from the original Soul Eater manga appear as supporting cast members. I've read enough to decide to want to continue reading the series. Witches seem to be a big antagonist in the series I wonder what hand they have in influencing these Failures that are running around Death City.

This was cute. Nothing like the main series, which was filled with drama, fighting, more drama, and a lot of adventures, and character POV switches. This was just meant to be, well, cute, kind of adorable, sort of funny. It’s kind of like…a parody, honestly. You know, something that’s not meant to be taken seriously.

1) Master is honestly the scariest character. Like he's so lowkey about it, but he's agreesssive omg iluv.
2) Justin's in the manga. I REPEAT. JUSTIN. IS IN. THE MaNGa.
3) Liz and Patty, though.
4) *ships akane x clay* lawl oops.

Considering I read and entire other manga since reading volume 1, I was a little lost when I started this one but I did get back in track quickly.

I loved the appearance of Death the Kid and Soul Eater in this edition.

A great addition to the series. Things went from being new and exciting in the DWMA to scary and unsure. It is a wonderful read .

Some good illustrations in this one, interesting and typically strange/crazy characters to be expected of the Soul Eater series.
