I was lucky to read this awesome book before it was released! This is the first fiction book the author has written in the first person, but her creative writing is just as great, if not better. Warning, this book is not YA, as most of you Willow fans are use to. I love the idea that she ventured out of her genre and did this book. It just shows that Willow is full of surprises and you never know what she might come up with next. I loved it!

Sophie comes to find herself having to choose one of the hardest choices a mother/woman should have to make. The question is, which choice will she choose, and will it be the right one?

If you are a huge Willow fan, like myself, you will not hesitate to get your hands on this book. It will leave you wanting more, and you will cheer, cry, and fear right along with Sophie and her life decisions. I can't wait to see what happens next. The next book can not be release fast enough!

10*s.....What would you think if you found out that even though you are destined for higher power that you had to choose which side to be on. Neither side is bad but that you have to choose. This was a fantastic book of love and choices and the outcomes of your choices. That is exactly what happens to Sophie. I was able to capture Sophie's feelings and feel what she was going through and feeling. It is a MUST read fabulous story and I would have to say it has me WANTING/NEEDING more!! Thank you, Willow for another AWESOME story!!

This book was a completely different genre than what I'm used to seeing from the author. With that said, I completely loved it!! Sofia is the ultimate heroine, in my opinion. She has the love of a mother combined with the vengeance of a ninja killer. Her "victims" never see it coming, which makes the act all the more amazing to me. I love this new streak that the author is on and literally can't wait to see what she comes out with next!

The Review
I love how Willow writes and this book is no exception, just the prologue had me hooked, I wanted to be Sophie, to be able to dish out punishment to all that deserve it, must be awesome, I am never sure about books that contain Nephilim, but I loved this one and I really can’t wait for book 2, I would love to know what “Sophie’s Choice” will be, I would highly recommend this book, 5/5

A Higher Calling by Willow Cross combines a social issue with the welcome paranormal twist. Sophie a loving mother decides to let her power and what she truly is take over and rid the world of the ‘Destroyers’, after her daughter – Shelly turns up bloodied and bruised. She takes on the task of finding the evils in the society and end their victim’s suffering. Will she make the correct choice? I can’t wait to find out in the next book!
Fantastic imagery and beautifully written, A Higher Calling is an amazing read. Willow Cross is as I’ve said before an amazing author. The way she writes and the way the words flow draws you in and transports you to the amazing book world she has created. The way she put forth the story spun around one of the evils that plagues our society is truly amazing! This is one of the books that I think everyone should read and try to hold hope in their life, that someone with a higher calling is looking out for them...

Having read the glowing recommendations by other readers, I feel awkward in not sharing their delight. Perhaps its becuase I have not read other books by the author.

I found the style awkward and too simplistic and perhaps naieve. For me, the content was not given the depth of consideration it deserves. the terminations described at the beginning of this book felt wrong. She comes across as a sociopath! what happened to "Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord?" Surely, these executions would not be down to a half-human to make decisions about and how could she expect to save the world on her own?

I do fully understand the need for vengeance when our loved one's are hurt. But these terminiations don't come across as rightful justice. I wont witter on becuase I didnt get to finish this story, and may have missed the whole point later on. the heroine's approach both to her daughter and to her decision to wipe out nasty men really didnt sit well with me.

'I have received this book from the author in return of an honest review.'

I must begin with saying this book was an exciting new take on angels; however it just wasn't long enough and left me hanging. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The storyline, plot, characters and details were wonderful. I love the idea of a female warrior instead of a damsel in distress. The fact that the warrior is also a mother and has to work to pay the bills on top of it makes the story that much better. It was an excellent read and I would love to see more from Willow Cross on this storyline. Excellent and exciting book...just too short is all. Otherwise, job well done Willow Cross! ~AC Wright (WaAr)~

Sophie has fought who she really is for years, but after something bad happens to her daughter, she will fight it no more. By day Sophie is a mother & waitress, but by night she is nephilim determined to rid her town of evil. Sophie is approached by two very different nephilim, who each want her to join them, but no matter who she decides to side with, Sophie will be giving up something she loves dearly. Willow Cross has delivered yet again another wonderful story, that will leave you wanting more. I know I can't wait to read the next one. A Higher Calling is a hard book to put down & gets 5 stars from me.

Sophie loves her daughter so much that when she notices her being abused by her boyfriend she lets her heritage take its course and becomes what she was destined to become. To rid the world of destroyers evil doers that hurt others because they were born that way. Sophie ends up meeting two very handsome men just like her, angels, kind of like light and dark she must choose a side and to do that she has to give up certain things . Can she ? Must wait and see. Must also save her daughter from another dangerous boyfriend so she has a lot to deal with. I am ready for the next one bring it on please . I am hooked.

I was gave this ARC copy from the author for an honest reveiw. Thank you Willow Cross for this amazing and angelic read!!!

WOW! Everything that Willow has made is just WONDERFUL! This book was diffrent then the rest, which made me love it even more. Don't get me wrong I love all of Willow's work, but his story is just diffrent. I have not read a lot of angel books but this one was graet. I feel bad for Sophie. How is she suppose to choose the right path to take? I don't want to put a bunch of spoilers in here so there is not much else to say. This is a must read and I hope you all enjoy this story as much as I have. Now go get your copy today!!! :)

What would you do if you knew you had powers? What if your daughter was a victim? Would you defend her, kill for her, avenge her, make sure that the man that hurt her and everyone like her was punished? That's what this mom did, and now she's got a decision to make. She can use her powers for the ultimate good, or she can choose to be an avenging angel. Either choice comes with painful outcomes- which is the lesser of two evils? I look forward to reading more from this author, as I was fully involved in this short story.

I can't applaud this book enough!! As usual Willow WOWs us with her intricate tales she weaves! I always find myself relating to her characters, & it draws me into their world(s). And ... quite honestly ... not only do I support women standing up & saying no to abusers 100% ... I do believe if I were in Sophie's position I too would need to be feared! Then comes the curve ball of the choice that must be made. Sometimes knowing things in advance makes decisions much harder to make. I'm curious to know what side she would choose! ;•)

Any mother that would see her daughter abused would want justice. Sophia, however, isn’t just any mother, she is a half angel and with Sophia justice is swift. Nathaniel meets her at one of her appointments. He is another like her, a half angel. Nathaniel is there to let Sophia know that things need to change. He is placed in her path to let her know that there is a Higher Calling for her, one that will change her life forever. I look forward to the sequel of A Higher Calling. It is written well and held me from beginning to the end. Bella Doerres 10/09/2012

Protective mom

Cool story. Mom's are always looking out for their children but what if your mom was half angel and half human? That's what this story is about. Sophie can feel the struggles and abuse that women have endured by the hands of men and she is the one that brings them to justice. Of course there is a twist, where she has decisions to make. Then there's her daughter, Shelley who picks all the wrong men and her life is in danger. This is a novella and I am sure the full length stories are even better.

Fast paced, introductory story. A mother, a half angel goes on a killing spree, taking out men as all men seemingly are wicked sex maniacs. The protagonist must choose to be a part of to types of angels. Or are there three types? Anyway, the story didn't appeal to me. In addition to vampires, shapeshifters, witches and werewolves, I'm now adding angels to my "do not read" list. I won't read the continuation of this story.

From the beginning to the end - this novella is full of surprises. You never know what's coming!
Unable to deal with her daughter's anguish, Sophie did the only thing she could - she accepted her part in God's army of angels. Years ago she got rid of her wings, only to allow them back into her life. Now she's bent on destroying those who have no business living - until the other angels catch wave of her methods. Now she has a decision to make, a side to choose, and a new life to lead...

A great new take on the world of angels! A mother that comes to terms with her destiny and becomes a warrior to protect her daughter... She is then left with an impossible decision. A great short read it grabbed my attention from the beginning and held on... A dark story at times but it worked and brought more to the story! Great job Willow can't wait to read the next one!!

This is not a pretty book, but it is a good book. The main character is not the person you love, but like any train wreck, you are held spell-bound by the circumstances that can't end well. A very well told, albeit dark, story that kept me reading non-stop since the first page. Very well written
