The Boulder Wolves #4

A Pack of Storms and Stars

Rate this book
Till a mating link do us part.

That was rule number 1 of the arrangement I struck up with my Alpha a few weeks after he arrived in Beaver Creek to solve a pack murder. Liam Kolane and I would have exclusive fun until my wolf clicked with its true mate or until I found a male keen on long-term, since Liam had zero interest in forever.

Well, he and I crashed and burned long before another male came along, because I broke our one and only other commandment: I got attached. And not only to my scarred and aloof Alpha but also to his sweet nine-month-old son.

The problem with breaking up with your Alpha? You remain his shifter, so you’re stuck seeing him every day. Another problem . . . some deviants presume he likes you enough to save you.

Good thing I have four older brothers who taught me to save myself.

I knew I was going to like ‘A Pack of Storms and Stars’ before reading it and now that I have finished it, all I can say is that I loved it.

I’ve loved all the books I’ve read by Olivia Wildenstein and this one is no exception. She’s become one of my favorite authors beacuse her books have interesting, emotional and intriguing plots combined with wonderful characters that makes you laugh and cry throgh their story. TOnce I start one of her books I just can’t put it down.

Although this book can be read as a standalone, I’m so glad that I read the previous books because I’ve been able to enjoy this story completely being aware of the background of some of the characters and how they’re doing right now.

The Boulder Wolves series is one of the best shifers books I ever read. This book focused on Liam, the Alpha of the Pack, and how he needs to deal with half of his new pack when something really weird happens to one of the pack members. However, this spin-off of the series is more focused on the romance and since I’m huge fan of romance books, this story has been a delighful experience.

I’ve enjoyed so much going through Liam and Nikki’s unexpected and so deserved romance! Liam has grown up and evolved since the first book and has become the best alpha his pack can have but he still has a poor concept of relaionships and what they mean. Nikki and her family is just what this powerful, broody and fierce alpha wolf needs. She’s sweet and worries very much about others but at the same time she’s strong, funny, brave and determined to proctect her heart from Liam and his cute baby. And that’s a hard mission to accomplish.

Like always, I need to stand out what such a priceless scenes we have in this book thanks to Lucas. All the secondary characters in Olivia’s books are important and enjoyable but Lucas is the best in my opinion. He has the best lines and wittiest remarks. I LOVE Lucas to no end and hope that we can have a Lucas and Sarah book because they’re awesome and their story epic!

I was oddly entranced by this book!! I feel like the personality of the fmc would’ve been better suited to someone older than 19, but nonetheless I really adored her, and loved her development. I had so much fun with the relationship between the two mcs - the slow-ish-burn was entertaining and addictive to read, and the mmc was so loveable as well. Plus who doesn’t love a murder mystery? Overall, this was just super enjoyable, and such a comfort read. Plus amazing female friends, and super loveable side characters!! Everything in this book was a win.

I knew going into the book that I’d be missing a lot of past worldbuilding and side character development (that’s what I get for starting at book 4 haha), but honestly I still understood most of what was happening, and I thought the author did really well making these books a series that could be read as standalones. Super happy with this “stuff your kindle” read!!

*** 4 STARS ***

A Pack of Storms and Stars is the fourth instalment in the Boulder Wolves series. The story focuses on a different couple as Ness’ storyline was already completed. We already know Liam, The Boulder’s Alpha, and Nikki who we met for the first time in this book. You could argue that you can read this book as a standalone but I wouldn’t recommend it as you will miss many details.

I was not a big fan of Liam in the previous books so I am surprised about how much I enjoyed this one. Liam won my respect with his actions as an Alpha but I wanted to punch him a few times with his hot-and-cold attitude towards Nikki. However, I can understand where his fears were coming from. The stars of this book are definitely Nikki, her family and Storm (Liam’s son). I LOVED the family relationships and the scenes with Storm.

The only thing I am sad about after finishing this book is that we won’t get a book for Sarah and Lucas though I am very happy for them!

It seems we will get more books in this series though, with Lark being the main character for the next one. You just need to read A Pack of Storms and Stars to find out who she is!

I'm not sure what I expected with this spinoff for Liam, but Olivia far-exceeded any expectations I might have had! I really liked Liam in the Boulder Wolves trilogy, but I LOVED him in this spinoff. Nikki and her family are
literally perfection! Who wouldn't laugh at the antics of a girl with 4 older brothers? The chemistry between Liam and Nikki is off the charts, and the romance was perfect.

Liam, who is now the Alpha of Nikki's pack, comes to town early due to a murder on pack lands, along with his baby son, Storm (let me just say, adorable!). Nikki's brother is Beta, but fails to mention the Alpha's early arrival. The way she meets her new Alpha is great! Nikki had been in a terrible accident before, and her family is very protective of her, although she can stand on her own, which she doesn't hesitate to show them.

The humor was on point, as was the mystery surrounding the murder on their lands. There were twists and turns, and it was just, literally, perfection! Olivia has a way of creating and writing characters that you can't help but love! She draws you in and doesn't release you until long after it's over! I still find myself thinking of them, well after having finished! I can't wait to go back to the Boulder Pack! I highly, highly recommend this book!

3.5/5.0

I really did like this story. I just didn’t love it. The story is engaging and kept me wanting to read. The world and characters are very nicely set-up and created. The drawbacks for me are strictly personal preference based, so this story may still be a winner for others.

The biggest problem for me is the friends with benefits story line. The minute this trope comes into play, the rest of the storyline is set and known. *yawn* It NEVER ends well and almost always it’s the woman who gets her heart broken. And.... we know how the story goes from there. Nothing new, nothing different. It can’t be anything else with this over cliched plotline. That’s why I hate it.

I also never warmed up to Liam. Didn’t like his character. This may be because we just aren’t given any insight into his feelings at all. Therefore he comes across as very one-dimensional so I just couldn’t buy into his sudden about-face and Nikki’s instant acceptance of it.

See? Other’s may love the very things that I disliked about this story. If so, I would encourage anyone who is looking for a great shifter-world book to give it a try.

March 2023 - Still not a fan of Nikki. Her only personality trait is pining after Liam... I would have loved to see another strong willed woman. However, I did love seeing Boulders again and enjoyed being in that world.

April 2021 - Whilst I was hoping we would see Liam's POV in this, and I couldn't connect to Nikki as much as I hoped, this was a really great story with funny and heartful moments. The whole series is very special to me and I was glad to see my favourite characters in a different setting. Thank you to the author for the ARC.

I just finished this story and i don't know what to do with myself....i want more!😄😄😄❤
This wonderful spinoff is about Nikki and our favorite alpha from the previous books Liam.
After a nasty motorcycle accident with her boyfriend Grant, that almost took her life, Nikki is en route to recovery - physically and mentally ,when her alpha Liam Kolane came to town to investigate series of attacks that are a threat to tha pack's safety.
The connection between them is electrifying, but things get interesting when it turns out they want different things - she is seeking for her true mate and given his emotional baggage,he isn't interested is serious relationship.
The answer - meet in the middle and have fun together, until she finds her true mate...except the fact she got attacher to her alpha and there's nowhere to hide.
The banter and the emotion between these two is such an emotional roller-coaster and also hilarious that you flip through the pages, giddy "ohh what these two are gonna get into now😄".
The way they met...i can say Nikki is hot on my heels to claim my championship belt for "most awkward first meeting with a crush" 😄😄😄
From the previous books i have love/hate relationship with Liam, but in this book i can say i warmed up to him more , especially toward the last part of the book as you see another side of him uncover and more of his emotions slip through the wall he built around himself.
I loved seeing Lucas in this book,as he is more like me and lacks censorship on his mouth and always makes things ,either awkward or straight up hilarious to the point of tears😄❤
Also the bond in Nikki's family was something special and heartwarming, all the support they bring to each other trough think and thin, yeah sometimes in your face too much but always there in need.
I've said it before, Olivia's writing style is my favorite and makes me feel like home....i think is the best to describe it ,because it doesn't feel like reading, but more like im living in the story with all it's emotions and atmosphere.
I absolutely loved this story and i desperately wished that there would be more of Liam and Nikki 😄😄😄❤❤❤❤ but Lark's story that will be in the fifth book is also alluring....can't wait to see what Lucas will come up with😄😄😄😄😄

Well what a fantastic turnaround for Boulder wolf pack alpha Liam Kolane, following his total alphaholeness in the first three books. I admit I didnt like him very much previously, so I was a teeny bit worried, however I trust Olivia Wildenstein, she certainly has a talent for writing characters that get under your skin and melt your heart....... I'm happy to say she turned my opinion on its head and I loved his story as I've loved the whole series.

This could be read as a standalone but I'd recommend reading the first three books first so you get the complete picture and feel the full impact of how far Liam has come.

Liam has united several big packs into one, but it's not quite a completely happy unit yet. With fear, mistrust, hate and jealousy amongst some of the pack, emotions run high especially when a human girl is found murdered on pack territory and Liam arrives to investigate. He gets a whole lot more than he bargained for!!

Fatherhood has mellowed him but his losses have scarred him.  Leadership and responsibility have matured him but I still felt Liam's pain and insecurities and although in the previous books I didn't like some of his actions, I was actually pleased his stubborn, a-hole reactions hadn't completely gone. It made his redemption feel more real and natural and not like the author had changed him into a completely different person just to make us like him. I really did like him more and more as the book progressed and was rooting for him and Nikki all the way.  They didn't make it easy for themselves despite Liams delightful son Storm's instincts.

I really liked Nikki. She was feisty, strong and so caring.  What a great attitude she had despite the heartbreaking trauma she had gone through the previous 18 months.

“You’re a glass half-full type of girl, huh?”
“More of a, as long as I have a glass, I’m filling it type.”

I loved her family unit, the Fremonts. They epitomise my love of wolf shifter loyalty, love, humour and intensity when it comes to protecting their own.

The story was told all from Nikki's pov, which initially was a surprise but worked well. Honestly I'd have loved a few chapters from Liam's pov, because I'm greedy like that. I really would have loved hearing his inner dialogue and arguments with himself over his growing feelings for Nikki. However the suspense, action, smoldering chemistry, humour, angst, betrayals, twists and a host of fascinating characters kept my attention firmly glued to the pages. I love these wolves and am looking forward to what comes next.

I luved the slow build of Nikki and Liam’s bond and the end.. whew idk what I would have done if it didn’t go the way it did lol but the story line was great.. steamy scenes were drool worthy and I’m really hoping the side characters get their own books too... please keep them coming!

Olivia Wildenstein writes stories that you get lost in and never want them to stop.
Nikki and Liam’s story is one of them.
Nikki is a sweet, loving and caring shifter and Liam is the Alpha and father of young Storm. I have to say that although Liam was a good Alpha, he was a bit of a jerk to Nikki and I’m not sure I would have forgiven him as quickly, as she did.
The story was well written and lured you in from the first page till the last. I loved most of the characters and I think Lucas was the one that made me smile the most, and of course little Storm.
If you love shifter romances you should definitely read this one!

Why did it have to end!?! I want more!!! Please give me more Liam!!
Lol
To be fair I read this (Liam and Nikki's story) before the Boulder Wolves Trilogy. It did not impact ANY of the story line.
I was all about this book immediately. The only thing I knew was there were shifters and that Olivia is freaking amazing. But I instantly felt like I could chill at Pondside drinking a beer with Nikki. I love her! I love how down to earth but optimistic she is. Her and her family are so amazing and their relationships are hilarious! The Freemont's house is deff a place i could go for every meal! Lol
Now Liam.....oh Liam *drools all over myself* geez so many times I wanted to reach into the book and smack him! But damn do I love him. And obviously Storm too.
This book will happily take up permanent residence in my mind for the rest of my life.
The story line and writing are so marvelous and im not surprised at all! Everything Olivia write pulls me right in and makes me feel at home right next to the characters!
Loved this and I look forward to continue forward with Lark's story but also go back and get cozy with the original pack!

I will start by saying this book is now one of my top 5 favorite books of all time. I loved Liam and Nikki. Olivia really dug deep when it came to writing the character Nikki. She is smart, independent and passionate. The story was a great mix of mystery and love. I read the book in one day it was so good. I couldn’t put it down. I couldn’t wait to turn the page to see what unfolded next. This book was given to me as an ARC but this review is all my own. I highly recommend this book and all the rest of the books in this series. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Nikki a new character to the series was perfect just perfect. this book was an emotionally roller coaster as are all ive read from this author but it makes it so much more real once you start u cant put it down.

If darkness were personified, it would’ve been Liam Kolane—his eyes went as black as a moonless sky. The fuck you can’t.

The latest entry in the Boulder Wolves series lives up to everything you would expect from this wonderful shifter series!! Liam Kolane has arrived in Beaver Creek along with his baby son Storm, to not only continue the combining of the Boulder and Beaver Creek packs, but also focus on solving an attack on a human by a wolf. Nikki Freemont and her family are integral parts of the investigation which leads to an unexpected person and discovery. Along the way Nikki and Liam discover an intense attraction but agree it should all be fun and commitment free. Not only does the investigation go awry, so does the agreement between Nikki and Liam as Nikki falls for Liam and Storm.
I so enjoy getting lost in Olivia's books, the world, characters and relationships just pull you right in and you really don't want to leave these people at the end of the story. The building tension between Liam and Nikki make each interaction crackle with electricity and the steamy payoffs are perfect. In addition to Nikki and Liam, I absolutely loved Lucas and all the humor and lightness he brings to the story, and Storm is just the sweetest center to all that happens around him. Loved this story and can't wait for Lark's story next!!!

“A Pack of Storms and Stars”, the fourth instalment in “The Boulder Wolves” by Olivia Wildenstein, opens a new chapter in this YA/NA urban fantasy paranormal werewolves romance series, which centers in the character of Liam and his path to happiness, after the already completed first “Boulder Wolves Trilogy”.

Liam has always been a very complex character, destined to be Alpha, he has the attics and attitude to go with it. Those acquainted with the previous three books in the series (which narrates Ness epic journey and her return to the Boulder Pack after her six years exile), have already learn to love, to hate, to love to hate and to fall for Liam, thus it comes as not surprise that this (at times) insufferable charming Alpha get his own story to tell, and when I say his story, I mean ‘his whole story’ because it is much more to Liam that it caught the eye!

The story takes place a couple of years after the events related in the first trilogy, and can, without any downside, be read as an introduction to the series…you can always pick the first three books later, strike that… you will have to pick the first three books later, because you don’t want to miss any single page on Olivia Wildenstein’s series, just trust me! Whether you are already acquainted with Liam or you meet him now, he is a character you will not easily forget 😉 Liam is a multifaceted character, whose path to happiness seems paved with struggle. He has been burned by love one to many times to no run scared every time that ‘love’ does a much as ‘insinuate’ itself on the horizon. And after all he has Storm (adorable!), the one and only love he’ll ever need…. unless…. he is fully mistaken and…. the rest is for you to find out, by reading the story 😉 and should you care for someone still available….and then there is also Lucas, the kind of great friend who can diffuse every situation with a dose of (sometimes unintended) humor, and from whom we hopefully will learn a lot more in the future 😊

Olivia Wildenstein has done it again! Telling an interesting, heart-felt story, with well-crafted, multidimensional characters, set in a credible urban fantasy world, that blends paranormal romance tropes with some mystery in a fast-paced, action-packed plot with balanced mix between character development and storytelling. A must read for all fans of the genre and those looking to be introduced to good, solid werewolf paranormal fantasy.

Faultless, that was my initial thought on finishing A Pack of Storms and Stars - I absolutely loved it. The story had me addicted throughout. It was one of those stories that is going to keep playing on repeat in my head for days. I was captivated throughout. I will say I’ve not read any of the previous books, which is a shame. This can be read as a standalone, but I must say I will be making time in my reading schedule to read more of the Boulder Wolves, they’re an interesting bunch. I’m guessing there’s never a dull moment. Lots of drama, action, and romance. Liam Kolane (fab name), the pack alpha for the Boulder Wolves, doesn’t wanted to get tied down by a relationship, love or a mating bond, you know the story, oh, and just to add mark sparks to the fire, he’s a single dad to an adorable baby. Enter Nikki Freemont - she was perfect, in the fact that she wasn’t perfect, her imperfections made her so relatable, I loved her, what a brilliant heroine, and she had the perfect family to match, four gorgeous brothers always looking out for her, and parent always supporting their children. Not a lot more I can say without spoilers, suffice to say, you won’t be bored.

Liam! Oh, that beautiful, guarded alphahole. Nikki! A lovely open-hearted, independent sweetheart.

I adored their story. The writing is so enveloping you forget they are not real. You are completely wrapped up and transported.

A Pack of Storms and Stars has just become my favorite Olivia Wildenstein book. It's among my all-time favorites.

If you're new to the Boulder Wolves, stop and start at book 1. You will be glad you did.

Awwww - LOVED!

Oh my goodness gracious! I absolutely adore this series. Every time I finish a BW book, I say it's my favorite and every time I read the next book, it becomes my favorite. Olivia has outdone herself with Liam's story and he may be my new favorite book boyfriend. And Storm.... don't even get me started on that bundle of perfection!

You won't get any spoilers from me... But Nikki is such a wonderfully flawed character, Liam has more than made up for his alphahole-ness, and the Boulder Wolves are at their absolute best in this book. Lucas and his one liners, Sarah and her wit, the perfection that is Ness and August. My heart is overflowing and I can't wait to read Lark's story 💕

This book was everything I didn’t know I wanted about Liam and Nikki. I absolutely loved everything about Nikki and her personality and the way she treated Liam right from the very beginning. She was never anything but who she was and made no apologies for it. I really enjoyed getting to see everything from Liam‘s side because honestly I wasn’t really ready to like him much last fall in love with him. This story helped me get over my issues with Liam and come to respect him more. I loved everything about how this book began and ended. I can’t wait for more Boulder wolves.

A Pack of Storms and Stars is the fourth book in the Boulder Wolves series by Olivia Wildenstein. This is Liam's story. I knew I was going to love a Pack of Storms and Stars because I loved Liam, despite his behaviour in the trilogy. This story is also about his 9 month old son and Nikki. I loved their story. It was very well written. Can't wait for the next book.

I love, love, LOVE Liam. I think he even took August's place in my heart.
The storyline is great, the characters lovable and believable. The trauma Nikki endured was so well written that I could feel her pain each time her injury was mentioned.
The ending stopped and started my heart at least a hundred times. There's just something about the Boulder Wolves series that I cherish. It was great to see August, Lucas, and Ness again and I'm excited to read Lark's story!

What a snarky, sexy, flirty, steamy spin-off of the original OB series! I absolutely love the Fremont Family and hope each brother gets their own story so we can keep being a part of their amazing pack/family!
Liam was a young sexy Alpha with a frustrating streak a mile wide in the original series, but 18 mos later he is a true Alpha with love and compassion for his Pack. That isn’t to say the ornery streak is gone or that he is any better with women, however, he is sexier and overall sooo much hotter! Maturity looks really good on him!
Nikki is truly an amazing young woman with so much to be grateful for. (I do feel sorry for her that her brothers all seem like THE Perfect Hottie x4, but...) She is strong, snarky as all get out, and has totally caught the eye of an important man while maintaining her confident focus on getting what she wants out of life!
I truly can not wait to read the next book in this series and highly recommend it!!

🇺🇸This book was just utter perfection. It can be read as a standalone but belongs to the Boulder WolvesUniverse. Using her words, Olivia made me go from the deepest dislike of Liam to completely wanting to be his girl in a matter of pages. She created characters who without excusing Liam for his a-holeness in the previous books, brought the best out of him. Storm showed us Liam’s loving, loveable and fatherly side. Nikki! Must be my favorite character in this series. She held her ground against him when needed and loved him when and how needed. Without losing herself in him or become submissive. She might not be the alpha of their clan but she surely is his equal. Liam on his hand grew up and realized how very wrong he was. He repented without falling into the pathetic. I liked seeing Ness and August in this installment but I loved seeing that their relationship to Liam stayed rocky even if they respect each other and they seemed to have found a common ground. The problems of the past have not been magically resolved in APOSAS and it feels good to have consistency. Also, in APOSAS there is a while new cast whose stories I would love to read.

My dislike for Liam grew increasingly throughout the original trilogy, so I was a little hesitant about diving into this story. But, somehow, Olivia made me like him.... And now I'm a Liam fan! *gasp*

This story was so good! I couldn't for the life of me put it down. Loved the drama and the twists! Loved Nikki. Loved watching Liam's relationship with her blossom into something beautiful. And Storm was fricken adorable!

I would've loved to have seen a dual POV. I reckon it would've added more depth. That's the only thing I felt like the story was missing.

Can't wait to read the next spinoff in this series.

While this is Liam’s spin off, it’s interestingly told from the perspective of Nikki, the wolf shifter who captures his attentions. Nikki is part of the Beaver Creek pack Liam became Alpha over after defeating their alpha in a challenge she made (the original trilogy). Events from the main series painted Liam in a strained light, often acting possessive and being a flat out jerk to Ness, but he was an interesting character, and I was excited to get to see more of him in this book, which didn’t disappoint. A couple years after the events of the trilogy, Liam is in Beaver Creek to help investigate a seemingly wolf shifter related death on pack territory. Nikki is part of Liam’s beta’s family, a very tight knit group of wolf shifters, of which Nikki is the only sister, with four brothers and very loving, caring parents. We learn quickly that Liam is a single dad to Storm, Tamara having died during childbirth, and Nikki’s mom is only too happy to help care for Storm while Liam is handling the pack’s needs. Liam is clearly a very loving father, he is also very closed off and private, we don’t get a lot of peeks into his life until Nikki finds herself drawn closer and closer to him. The relationship Nikki develops with Storm is also very sweet, and he’s an adorable addition to the story. But Liam isn’t looking for love, he’s been burned to many times, and while Nikki is attracted to him, she is constantly telling herself what a bad idea it is to want him. As they approach the mating ceremony for one of Nikki’s brothers and her best friend, a time when mating bonds often snap into place for shifters, Nikki is fighting her attraction knowing that her true mate could be revealed to her then, and she would need to be ready for that. But their attraction is too much to deny, and Liam and Nikki go all in on a no strings attached fling, while they both secretly fall for each other.

The underlying mystery keeps their story moving, and introduces interactions with Nikki’s ex-boyfriend, who is essentially a complete jerk, as well as a few other pack members who are close with Nikki and her family. There is a stark contrast in the story between Nikki’s very tight knit, loving family, and Liam’s seeming lack of family (until she meets the OB group from the trilogy - clearly Liam’s chosen family). And residual issues from a serious motorcycle accident keep Nikki on the sidelines and add to some of her insecurities when interacting with others, especially Liam, to prove she is still capable of helping in difficult situations. They clash regularly, but their passion only ignites things between them further.

We get a good dose of Lucas in this book as well, as Liam’s beta from Boulder. And boy is it fun to have him around! He is definitely a sense of comic relief, and I love that his penchant for nicknames and teasing is still strong as ever in this book. Having him as an additional anchor from the original trilogy is a nice touch, that keeps the stories tied together, especially when we do eventually get to meet up with that Original Boulder group again later in the book.

Nikki and Liam really are good for each other in many ways. And of course, those around them see it way before they are willing to admit it to either themselves or each other. This story of their relationship is sweet, emotional, intense, and passionate. It was really good to see Liam get his happy ending, and I’m looking forward to the next generation!

I needed me some Boulder pack wolf and Liam didn’t disappoint. Book four is written from Nikki’s POV. We have a new crime and mystery to uncover plus a slow burn romance.
