As a traditional psychotherapist, Dr. Brian Weiss was astonished and skeptical when one of his patients began recalling past-life traumas that seemed to hold the key to her recurring nightmares and anxiety attacks. His skepticism was eroded, however, when she began to channel messages from "the space between lives," which contained remarkable revelations about Dr. Weiss's family and his dead son. Using past-life therapy, he was able to cure the patient and embark on a new, more meaningful phase of his own career.

A graduate of Columbia University and Yale Medical School, Brian L. Weiss M.D. is Chairman Emeritus of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami.

Dr. Weiss maintains a private practice in Miami. In addition, Dr. Weiss conducts national and international seminars and experiential workshops as well as training programs for professionals.

This was an interesting one and a fast read. It kept me up late two nights in a row! You know, you have to read these things with an open mind, but also with a critical one. You can't just completely accept or reject what he has to say. His and Catherine's experiences about past lives are truly fascinating, and no matter how you feel about reincarnation, the lessons from the Masters about how to live are quite universal. In the end, it all comes down to love, patience, and forgiveness.

Even if you are a hardcore athiest or believer in a religion that doesn't allow for past lives, you can still get a lot out of this book about how to treat people and release yourself from fear, both specific and general.

One of the most thought provoking books I have read. It gives credence to the ideologies of Reincarnation and makes one feel more peaceful about our purpose on earth and our life after death.
It is a must read for those who enjoy thinking about and talking about the ephemeral.
It will not appeal to those who are not open-minded or who are not ready to receive and soak up this book.

A small but powerful book that gives hope even though the human race seems doomed. A student gave this book to my husband who brought it home and left lying around. Momentarily bored I picked it up one afternoon and couldn't believe the luck of finding this unassuming little gem packed full with so much wisdom. So much of it seems to resonate simple truths about our world and our purpose in this life. This is one book I've lent out so many times that I've now lost track of it and will be picking up another copy before this life is out!!!

I’ve been wanting to experience past life regression…..and now it’s in my bucket list.

This is a great book to introduce a reader to the concept of reincarnation. This author comes with great credentials. He was a graduate of Columbia University, Yale University School of Medicine, Interned at NYU's Bellevue Medical Center, went on to become the chief resident at the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine, and the Chair for the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He is now in private practice and does workshops all over the world. He also appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show. In this book Dr. Weiss stumbled upon the ability to regress his patient Catherine to 80+ past lives. He was a skeptic who decided to keep an open mind and observe his patient and her progress. The amazing part of her story is the past life regression helped the patient heal all her phobias, fears, and anxieties without having to use any medications. This story is a quick and easy read. After reading this book I am seriously considering regression hypnotherapy for healing some of my issues. The book is that interesting!

Dr Weiss, a psychiatrist, recounts the past lives regression hypnosis therapy with one patient. It was his first encounter with past lives. He also found that in addition to clear details about actually lives there were times when he had conversations with the "masters" through his patient. The Masters being much higher evolved "consciousness". Through what was learned and practiced in each life a being (spirit etc) can evolve through many levels of understanding. For his patient the therapy helped her understand and overcome many fears and traumas from those past lives that were manifest in her current life - For the doctor it opened a whole new spiritual life of continual improvement and atonement where your "soul" never dies, but move to a new situation to find its own path to a higher level.

A decent quick read that I finished within a few hours. However, due to the date of original publishing, the information presented is not that "ground breaking" anymore. Still, as I'd been interested in reading this book, it offered a decent way to pass time.

I would suggest "The Nature of Personal Reality" by Jane Roberts, channeling Seth, moreso than this book. Again, it's not a bad read - but not as groundbreaking and enthralling as it once might have been / someone completely new to this category of study.

People that know me would never guess that I would be caught dead reading a book like this. The combination of influences in my life simply shouldn't allow for it. That said, I do my best to read stuff that sits outside my normal thinking process.... this book certainly fits. Let's see: My Ayn Rand influence says that all mystics are crazy and my Evangelical Right Wing background believes that they are the only ones that know anything about Spirituality. That probably doesn't leave a heck of a lot of room for a Buddhist influenced book about reincarnation... right? Wrong. I loved this book.

Brain Weiss does a wonderful job of introducing the reader to past life regressions through his own work. For those of you who are interested in learning what happens after death, as well as why we may be here, this is a great book. I read this so fast, that halfway through I went and purchased the next book, because I knew I would want to read more. If you liked This, I recommend reading the writings of Kenneth Ring.

This book is wonderful and a very easy read. It is mostly dialog between phychiatrist and patient but is highly relateable and gets your mind thinking of the possibilities of your own life. A friend reccommended it after it stirred her own therapeutic past (dare I say pasts) and I haven't put it down.

I love this book. It is such a great feeling to read a book quickly, not wanting to put it down. I have trouble staying interested in a book, even ones I really like, because I get kind of ADHD. This book was different. It kept my attention, and if I had a magic wand, I would have wished the world to stop, so that in one sitting, I could read it cover to cover.

This came as a rec from one of my friends....a very interesting read as I've never thought much about reincarnation. Makes me think a little bit more about how we all fit in the universe. A quick read and an interesting one.....

This was the second time i've read this book, and i got some different things out of it from the second read. If you believe it is true, it is some powerful stuff. Lines up well with messages of most religions regarding how to live your life here on earth.

When our souls go from one earth experience to another they "temporarily reside" in a spiritual place where they exist with the masters who have important guiding information for us.
