Eliminating Stress, Finding Inner Peace

Rate this book
Eliminating Stress, Finding Inner Peace is an important step on the healing journey. Stress kills, there’s no doubt. Stress eats away at our happiness and joy, as well as our stomach lining. Stress raises blood pressure and directly harms our cardiovascular system. Stress depresses our immune system and allows chronic illnesses to overwhelm us, causing pain, disability, and even death. Basically, stress robs us of happiness and joy.

Stress is a mental state that can cause severe negative emotional and physical consequences. It can be entirely eliminated, or at least greatly lessened, by adjusting our understanding and attitudes, and by learning simple yet pervasive mental and bodily relaxation.

This book and its accompanying stress-reduction CD will help you deeply relax. It will enable you to release the acute and chronic stress we constantly carry in our bodies and our minds. It can help you remove the blocks and obstacles to your inner peace and joy, and prevent and heal stress-related illness and disease.

To heal yourself in this manner is a profoundly loving act. It is an act of self-love, because you are taking the time and expending the energy to heal yourself physically and emotionally, and to bring more happiness into your life. Regular practice with the CD will produce deep, long-lasting results.

Brian L. Weiss

As a traditional psychotherapist, Dr. Brian Weiss was astonished and skeptical when one of his patients began recalling past-life traumas that seemed to hold the key to her recurring nightmares and anxiety attacks. His skepticism was eroded, however, when she began to channel messages from "the space between lives," which contained remarkable revelations about Dr. Weiss's family and his dead son. Using past-life therapy, he was able to cure the patient and embark on a new, more meaningful phase of his own career.

A graduate of Columbia University and Yale Medical School, Brian L. Weiss M.D. is Chairman Emeritus of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami.

Dr. Weiss maintains a private practice in Miami. In addition, Dr. Weiss conducts national and international seminars and experiential workshops as well as training programs for professionals.

Not bad, really quick read. I really enjoyed the first part of the book that dived into the scientific effects of long term stress on your body.

The second have was just like “the audio will teach you this, the audio will teach you that, that audio will help you do X/Y/Z” So kind of useless.

Still very intreating and the audio is a nice accompaniment to the book with nice relaxation techniques.

A departure from some of Weiss' other books I've read (and enjoyed) that were more a combination of psychology and esotericism, this is more solidly within the confines of psychology and mainstream mindfulness/spirituality as part of a physical/mental/spiritual tripart approach to stress management. The audio CD was not included in the library version I read/reviewed, but the book on its own is a well done, brief overview of stress, its impact on the whole body and its treatment. I liked the small size, helpful for when one is already overwhelmed, direct language that were neither clinical nor spoke down to the reader and the practical suggestions for coping. Definitely could recommend this one.

Great book to understanding what stress does

This book, like all of Brian Weiss books, is a fascinating look into understanding ourselves on a deeper level. Many of his books that I have read were more about or spiritual nature. This book I found is more about ways to take control over our lives when stressful situations arise and the health risks that a life of anxiety and stress cause. This book would benefit those who suffer from unnecessary anxiety and stress and have allowed anxiety to dictate their lives. Comes with a meditation download to achieve a more relaxed state of being. Brian Weiss has never disappointed me in any of his books.

Me parece esencial incluirlo.

I purchased this more for the stress-reducing CD than the actual book. The CD is very relaxing! Gotta love Brian Weiss.
