The Goode Brothers #2

The Home Wrecker

Rate this book
I’ve been faithful long enough.

I never claimed to be a good man, but I’ve always done what was expected of me.

Find a nice girl. Get married. Have children.

That was my duty as a good Christian man.

And everything was going as planned when I met Briar.

Beautiful. Charismatic. Sexy.

But marriage is hard, and after seven years, I feel like I’m failing.

Then, a figure from my past enters the picture.

Dean Sheridan is cocky and charming. When this twenty-five-year-old needs a place to stay, I should turn him away—especially after I notice the spark between him and my wife. But I don’t.

When I pressure him about his relationship with Briar, he does the last thing I expect.

He dares me.

He thinks he can take what’s mine.

And if it’s a challenge he wants, it’s a challenge he’ll get.

What started as a game becomes so much more.

Between them. Between us.

This isn’t how normal couples behave.

The games we’re playing are dangerous.

And the roles we’re playing are far more.

But God help me, I can’t seem to stop.

What we’re doing is wrong, but it feels so right, and before long, I don’t recognize the good husband I used to be.

This was 35% clown show, 20% drama, 20% sex, 15% heartwarming moments and 10% from the past. (Don’t take any of the % literally)

This review contains minor spoilers + kink list and tw/cw

The snippets from the past were quite boring but very short so it wasn’t annoying or anything. Just a few pages here and there in between the present chapters.

Clown show?
We have 2 adults in their thirties acting like complete morons. (Briar & Caleb)
Their marriage has not been stable for years.
They don’t know if they’ll be together in the future.
They’re unsure whether the other person still loves them.
They don’t communicate.
Their sex life is dead.
One of them isn’t sure they want another baby.
AND YET THEY ARE TRYING FOR A NEW BABY. Do you want your kids to grow up in misery? I get the marriage in shambles thing but you’re telling me 2 adults with fully developed frontal lobes decides to have ANOTHER CHILD, A HUMAN BEING, when they can’t even hold a conversation or properly express their love. And I’m not sure how long their marriage was fucked but you’re telling me you wasted several years by just.. not talking? It’s the stupidest shit I’ve ever heard.

Any day now, I expect him to say he’s done. And part of me fears that he has been done for a while but won’t say it. Done with me or with the trying or all of it. At this point, those two things feel like one and the same. I have become this. I am the trying.

Sexual tension, what’s that? Dean didn’t even have to do anything and Briar was ready to jump his bones. They don’t call them desperate housewives for nothing. I didn’t like the comment Dean made but it’s true. She strayed way too easily. I didn’t really care for her, she was an okay character but she had her less than likable flaws. You know when someone cheats and then their significant other asks what they were doing with someone else? This is where she blows up and ”DON’T YOU TRUST ME?!” And I want to clarify that I see kissing as cheating. And she kissed Dean back. Her husband flat out asks her the next day if she cheated (he’d found out from the other hero) and she promises she didn’t. After he saw Dean and I getting out of the car yesterday, Caleb and I awkwardly avoided each other for the rest of the night. I had nothing to confess to, and he didn’t bother accusing me. Why didn’t he? Does he care so little that he wouldn’t at least fight me for more information? I obviously want my husband to trust me, but it would be nice to see him get a little fired up, too. Especially when it pained me so much to turn down what could have happened with Dean. She. Kissed. Dean. Back. ”Nothing to confess to”? She wants Caleb to get ”fired up”, but when Caleb does get mad, Briar gets mad because Caleb doesn’t take her word for that nothing happened between her and Dean. Makes total sense, I know. This kind of back and forth happened more than once and I thought I was about to have a stroke.

Then Caleb cheats(bj)and Briar gets mad. Why she was mad? Because she felt guilty when she was cheating with Dean and stopped it before it could go further… but she could have gone further since Caleb did. I think? Then she cheats with Dean again and is not mad anymore. I don’t know whether the way she reacted was justified, it might have been. I just think they were all being stupid. (The three of them had engaged a bit sexually by this point but hadn’t discussed anything afterwords)

And I absolutely loathe when fmc’s slap mmc’s. It’s still abuse behaviour, man or woman. Gross.

Heartwarming moments?
Dean with Caleb and Briar’s daughter.
I still don’t like kids. They’re gross and rude and so much fucking work. But I would die for this one. Dean is a mood. And at least one of them knew how to communicate. I’d say he was the most mature of the bunch. Briar and Caleb did get better further in, they just irriterad me in the beginning. Caleb had the best character development to me.

The three of them had really sweet moments together but I wasn’t feeling any love in the air and I didn’t really care for any of the mc’s so it didn’t really impact me. Had Dean decided to walk away from them, I wouldn’t have cared.

The smut was well done, though I personally didn’t care much for it. 3.25/5 spicy. I loved how Caleb and Briar didn’t want to hide Dean. If someone saw them together, so what? Let’s show the whole world🤭

I liked seeing more of the Goode family.

I wont say the plot was good because I think it was quite stupid but… stable plot line?

- (Mild)- Dom(m)/Dom(m)/Sub(f)
- Marriage in crisis
- Dislike to love (m/m)

- Brothers ex
- Low/medium angst
- Degradation
- Praise
- Spanking (hand, riding crop)
- Hand cuffs

Tw/Cw: fertility issues, assault(on page, from the past), homophobia, death of family member, cancer, threaths from family member, recording sex (and sending to the third mc), mild violence, talk of attempted murder (happened in the previous book)

»» I don’t know what happened with Dean’s job? He said he wasn’t going to quit for someone else but Sara Cate made it look like he didn’t enjoy his job even though he said he did. And it’s not mentioned in the epilogue so idk? It’s unclear. And annoying. Because I want to know. (I could also have missed it)««

I was really looking forward to reading this book but idk, it was fine, nothing more. I did enjoy some parts of the book which is why the rating isn’t lower.

"The space between us might only be inches, but it feels like miles."

Caleb and Briar Goode have always had the perfect marriage.
At least that's what it looks like.
From the inside it's not as perfect as it seems.
There's no spark. No heat. No passion.
That is until Dean Sheridan comes in.
And suddenly the temperature cannot help but go up.
No matter how much they try to deny it.

"I could show you more. I could give you what you need…"

I received an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.

"We can't undo what we've already done. And we certainly can't fucking stop now."

Caleb and Briar Goode had the perfect life. On the outside. Until Dean Sheridan. And then all bets are off for everyone.

"It was llike finding a part of myself I didn't know existed but only getting a taste. I want more."

Sara Cate does it again.
I mean I'm not gonna lie when I heard cheating like most I was like nope not for me. But then I'm just like fuck it I'm going to give it a try because Sara Cate has never let me down. And thank god for Sara Cate because she hit this out of the MF park!!

"You're so sure you know what my wife wants, then prove it."

Briar and Caleb's marriage is on the rocks. Sorry not sorry no better way to put it. They both feel the other drifting away and they're not doing anything about it really. I loved Briar. Sage is still my top girl in this series but Briar was fabulous loved her! The moment she came out of her shell I was like get it girl live your dream. Now this may say so much about me but I was crushing on Caleb so much. I mean the touch exterior and the background of his family and everything. AND WHEN HE GETS JEALOUS…. Hot. And then we have Dean who I equate to a mischievous puppy dog and we love that energy. Legit loved their chemistry and their vibes. And Abby is the cutest!! The fact that Dean has that "Grumpy MMC Who Hates Kids But Loves This One Energy"!!! I was all here for it eating it up thank you very much.

"This is what your wife likes, Caleb. She likes to be good. But she likes to be corrupted too, don’t you?"

"I'm going to hell for this. But God, it's worth it"

Now Sara Cate makes the most amazing playlists and I added hers to mine as always but these are the songs that popped into my head so enjoy 😇😇 (or don't I'm not in charge of you)

I literally read this in ONE SITTING so for that reason I’m giving this the added .5 lol but it was enjoyable and didn’t feel exactly tedious to get through. I wasn’t sure if I would like this as I hate the cheating trope (there’s only been one book that was the exception kinda) but might I just say it worked here lol it surprisingly worked and was handled well

Dean stood out to me the most and I liked his character arc. As for Briar and Caleb, both seemed relatable enough given the struggles they were going through and I enjoyed seeing them get comfortable after the stagnation that was their reality. I thought theirs and deans character development was amazing by the end of this in trying to make things work between them all against all odds. And while I enjoyed Give me more in her Salacious players series much more—this one is a close second to that in the way both books are set up.

Idk what it is about Sara’s books but when I have the time I’m able to binge them in one sitting!

*this is an MMF romance btw and i’d recommend it if you want a quick and easy read in between books*

This was so beautiful. This h0rny little book made me cry 3 times.. just wonderful.

There is just something about how Sara Cate writes Er0tic Romance. You think you're just in for a twisted, spicy time and then she brings the heart and soul to it. I was deeply moved by the journey of Caleb and Briar and how they opened their marriage and their hearts to Dean. What starts as possible messy ending to a marriage in crisis... ends up being their salvation.

I loved seeing them all connect in such a genuine way. They each found contentment and romance in their individual relationships as well as in the thruple. Which is everything I want from a trio. Each member is vital and they couldn't go on with anyone missing. That is something that not all authors can balance.

I also found Dean's personal story with his father to be so moving. Seeing Caleb and Briar be there to support him and lift him up was just heartwarming.

The heat and dash of naughtiness in the beginning was of course, delightful. If you are worried about cheating (as am I, it's usually a HARD no for me), this fits the story and is quickly used to push all three of them together.. It's a mutual cheat that can happen in MMF, if you catch my drift.
Just trust Sara Cate and dive into it.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you so much, Sara Cate!

“We don't sacrifice who we love just to make our lives a little easier.”

The Home Wrecker is the second book in The Goode Brothers series. As a standalone, you don't have to read The Anti-Hero in order to understand the story, but I really encourage you to for a better experience.

Briar and Caleb have been married for 10 years and have been trying to conceive for the past few years. But things didn't turn out as they expected so they drifted apart. In addition to their marital problems, they are also facing the fallout from Truett Goode's actions. And it is in this context that a figure from the past appears, Dean Sheridan – Isaac's ex-boyfriend, the youngest Goode brother.

Now at Sinners & Saints as a sex worker, Dean has his house burned down, and having nowhere to go, he, through his connection with Adam, is led to accept living in Caleb and Briar's garage apartment. Briar is eager to help someone in need, Caleb, however, is worried because not only is Dean a sex worker but he also believes that Dean still holds a grudge against him. This turns out to be true, Dean hates Caleb, and Briar, none the wiser, is thrown into the middle of a very dangerous game.

I absolutely love the marriage in crisis trope and this book served it just right. The yearning, the pain, the resentment – Sara Cate did a terrific job at capturing all these feelings. This book spoke to me on so many levels. Even though I couldn't relate to everything they were going through, I could still feel their conflicts as if they were my own.

“Good Christian women don't come to sex clubs. They don't kneel on the floor between two men. Good Christian women don't love every second of this. ”

Oh Briar, the woman you are. People will undoubtedly love Caleb & Dean, so I'm here to stake my claim as Briar's girl. She was, by far, my favorite character. And the way she came full circle, the parallel between the beginning and the end, was very special.

But hey, I was definitely not unaffected by Dean and Caleb. Their shared past made everything more angsty and I loved that. Despite their initial clash, Dean was so understanding of Caleb and the scars that Caleb's upbringing undoubtedly left. The things Dean said to Caleb as he figured out his sexuality went right to my heart. It was impossible for me not to love Dean instantly. And every scene featuring Dean and Abby (Caleb and Briar's daughter) made my heart soar.

Dean cared deeply for both Caleb and Briar, he knew their needs were different and made sure they were met the best way he could. On their side, Briar and Caleb were fighting for their marriage, but knowing that fighting for it didn't have the same meaning as before. Because now Dean was part of it.

This book was, indeed, a journey – a very hot and angsty journey. And I loved every gut-wrenching second of it!

I may have me a new favorite Sara Cate book! The Homewrecker is a fitting title for this book, in more ways than one. Caleb and Briar’s marriage is suffering, and they have no clue how to fix what’s broken. Meanwhile, they offer Dean (the ex of Caleb’s younger brother) the use of their garage apartment after his house burns down. As an escort, Dean knows sex, people and how to give them what they want. He sees the holes in their marriage, and he isn’t shy about his attraction to both Caleb and Briar.

The emotions behind this triad is what pulled me in. This book could be compared to Give Me More, but on an angstier, messier scale. Caleb and Briar have suppressed their sexual desires, and Dean is the piece they didn’t even realize was missing. Caleb and Briar also provide love and affection that Dean didn’t realize HE was missing. Their triad started off as just sex, but watching them explore what a relationship could be like made my heart warm because all three of them deserved it.

The flashback scenes were perfect for the book, in that the author focused on the irony of Caleb and Briar’s origin story to their love life and journey in the present day with Dean.

And the spice?! Ooo my gosh, I was blushing because the chemistry between these three snuck up on you, and it was explosive when they finally gave in to the inevitable. Yet, each sexual interaction still served to bring the triad closer together, whether it was scenes with all three or just two of them at a time.

I’m ready for the next brother’s book now cause this series is getting better and better!

Oh, my sweet baby Jesus, if this wasn't the filthiest, most seductive and delicious thing I have read from this author to date. I feel like I say this every dang time she releases a book, but I'm telling you, I speak the truth!

I am going to try to keep this high level and spoiler free as much as possible!!

Briar and Caleb are married, but their marriage is struggling. Dean is someone who Caleb knows from his past, as he used to be the best friend...and maybe more, of his younger brother when they were teens. But Dean was abruptly ousted from Isaac's life thanks to Isaac and Caleb's hugely religious and bigot father.

Years later, Dean needs a place to live and rents the room over Briar and Caleb's garage.

Instantly there is a strong attraction between ALL of them. Dean can read that there are struggles going on, and offers to try to help Briar and Caleb with some...um, lessons.

IMG_2422

So let me address the elephant in the room. Yes, there is technically cheating in this story from more than one character. And for the record, I do not like cheating and usually will steer clear of a book if I know there's cheating in it. However, it is SO short lived here...like maybe a day passes (if that) before confessions to the other person are made. And no one is betrayed or feeling that way because, the whole time, they are know there is something larger going on between them.

I absolutely loved this story nd thought the author handled it immaculately. Yes, of course it is super hot like we want, but she was also so careful to dive into the characters and their feelings here which is what made the book so great.

The Home-Wrecker is a knockout MMF story about three people struggling to understand what their feeling, all the while being deep in "like" and lust for one another. It made me root for them as a unit while they faced all the external barriers stacked against them. This is a standout hit when it comes to MMF love stories!

And I REALLY hope Isaac's story is next because this book left me wanting sooo much more when it comes to his character.

Me: I will never read a book with the cheating trope!! Never!!
Sara Cate: Bet.
Me: *immediately smashes that TBR button and consumes the story*

When I tell you I devoured this story, I need you to know that I mean that literally. The Home Wrecker consumed me--this polyamorous story of Caleb, Briar, and Dean was one that I never thought I'd be interested in reading but, once Sara Cate introduced me to these characters, I knew it was all over for me.

I don't like books with the following tropes: cheating, established marriages, or large plots involving children/having children as a main element of the story. I also speed away from all books centered on religion.

The Home Wrecker had all of my no-no list tropes. It's about an established marriage in crisis surrounding two extremely religious characters who are trying to conceive their second child and fracturing apart because of their failures.

Even typing out that sentence, my body is going ICK, PLEASE, NO. Those things are (were) not for me.

But I was intrigued by The Home Wrecker's premise: Briar and Caleb, our married couple, find themselves orbiting around a new man in their lives--Dean.

Dean is an escort with a very open sexuality (he's bi) and a sensuality to his lifestyle that both Briar and Caleb cannot understand. Dean's happy with who he is, he's not religious, and he's not afraid of his own desires and wants.

Both Caleb and Briar are afraid of so many things.

When Dean's presence starts to unravel the tightly wound nest of problems at the core of Briar and Caleb's relationship, all three of them start to realize that maybe... there's something else worth fighting for in this tense cold war.

The core of the story is Briar and Caleb's relationship and how Dean finds his own home and belonging within their arms--I don't want this blurb to sound like Dean is a tool for the "main pairing" to thrive. Sara Cate has written a truly polyamorous love story here and Dean's own personal arc and journey are just as important as both Briar's and Caleb's. The marriage pairing might be the sexy and taboo hook here for the marketing, but I want to highlight Dean's own individualism in this story. His happy ending is very much at play here too.

If you can handle the idea of these tropes, and you're willing to explore non-heteronormative traditional endings and acceptance, then I'd love to point you toward this book. It's a fulfilling and loving story of acceptance and personal growth wrapped up in a very Sara Cate-style sexy package.

Come for the spicy taboo. Stay for the feels. I promise you won't regret it. (And trust Sara on the cheating trope! I did.)

Thank you so much to the author for my advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Sara Cate!!!!! you put some magic in your MMF books and the church (my library) thanks you.

this brought me back to Give Me More and all the emotions I felt while reading it. Sara Cate's bi/poly books make me feel so brave and so full of love. yes, these are (very) spicy books, but at the heart of it, they're really just books about finding your way to your most authentic self, surrounded by love and support and honesty and vulnerability. UGH.

So, I've discovered after two books, that this series definitely isn't for me. I loved the salacious players series, and was excited for something different. But this is just not it for me, and a lot of the reasons are definitely personal preference.

I do not like the religious aspect, a lot of it is just very common themes we see constantly in books, and sometimes I wish we'd get something different. And I have the same complaint in mafia books or hockey romances, I don't mind the same tropes, but I just wish the executions would vary and not just be same book different characters.

Also, I know this is in the trigger warnings, and this isn't part of why I gave it two stars, but the cheating trope sucks. I knew it was in here and wanted to give it a shot, and I just couldn't. To me it felt like it was condoning cheating, especially since the main married couple literally got together cheating as well, it was more of a pattern. It was like, no lessons were learning and they just repeated the pattern in a way. And I wasn't into that. But again, I knew cheating was going to happen going in so I didn't factor this into my reading.

Now for why I still gave it two stars beyond the religious and cheating aspect. One, the biggest issue in this book was the lack of communication between main characters. It was so frustrating. Having them be together for so long, I get that communication is hard, but it was like communication about everything. And then we finally got the second MMC in the story and thank god he could communicate and help them, but then at the same time as a throuple, their communication was still horrid. Boundaries were constantly getting walked over, and how can you build any type of relationship around cheating, then breaking boundaries, and lack of communication? Especially a poly relationship? You can't!

Also we had another book in this series where there is ridiculous expectations put on the FMC due to religion and such a taboo put on any type of sexuality/preference/kink. The first book, it was the FMC wasn't good enough due to fucking tattoos and colored hair, this book, the wife was too "pure and good" to want anything other than vanilla. And again I just feel like it's a gross concept and sexists af.

And then a lot of these issues could have been rectified with proper communication and boundaries and working through things, but the end of the book just conveniently worked out with minimal effort. It was wrapped up just too quickly and tidy. We hardly saw anything about them talking as a poly family and what that would look like, we glossed over a tiny convo with the daughter, and even the reveal to everyone was so short and quick. It was a huge letdown.

And side note, I hated that the guy they brought in, was the youngest brother's old bff and first love. It gave me such a big ick. Especially since no resolution to fix that relationship has happened. We saw a little tidbit between this books MMC and him, but barely. And half the book the guy thought the brother had outted the younger brother and was still pursuing this relationship, WHY? It made no sense.

In the end, this series is just not for me. The tropes are Blegh. And the execution isn't there. A lot of it feels like it's being written for shock and to be taboo.

I had my hopes high on this one. It started as 4-5 stars but slowly went down as the book went on. I never really felt like I knew any of the characters, they all felt like they had the same personality. They also all had big individual problems that never really materialised into actual conflict. So what was the fucking point?

The flashbacks throughout the book never worked. I think if the book started with the flashbacks we would have had a clear picture of the past and felt more angst in the present.

I had so many problems with this book.
Briar is potentially the biggest problem. Honestly, why doesn’t she have a job? That would have been an interesting storyline, getting back into the workplace, and her marriage in crisis. The flashbacks to meeting Caleb never work because we never really see her terrible relationship with her ex. Her family disown her but we never really met any of them and it’s off page and she seems cool with it. She leaves her religion? That was unclear to me, but that could have been interesting for her to explore.

Caleb, is…. I don’t even know. Their communication issues were weird. He’s thinking “I love her so much” “she’s my world” but never tells her. That doesn’t feel like a true communication breakdown. He never once wrestles with telling her “I’m bisexual”. I honestly don’t really know why they couldn’t communicate he says he wants to protect her, but like, from what?

Dean, was a sad character to me. Because he really did feel like a sex toy. He truly was helping to fix their marriage, and as far as I can tell kept his job and a sex worker and also constantly had sex with them away from work and I just felt exhausted for him. Who takes care of Dean?

If your worried about all the cheating that happens in this book. Don’t worry, it’s all around pretty boring and low stakes, nobody gets upset for longer than a few minutes and then they all have sex anyway.

There’s also so much insta lust in this book between literally everybody I never felt the relationships deepen, even the kid is immediately best friends forever with Dean. He never has to try and build a relationship with her because she’s instantly treating him like Daddy 2.

It’s funny, really. I’ve only wanted two people in my entire life. The first time, it was his brother.
And now, it’s his wife.

Dean Sheridan.
The teenage boyfriend of Caleb’s younger brother.
The one that Caleb drove away.
He has hated Caleb ever since.
When his house burns down, he is forced to move in with the Goodes.
He decides to have revenge on Caleb by seducing his wife.

Whatever the world wants to throw at us, we can take it.
Toss us into the fires of hell if it wants to. For this love we share, it would still be worth it.

Caleb and Briar Goode.
Their relationship began with Briar cheating on her then boyfriend.
Caleb and Briar have been together since college.
They are happily married with a child.
Or are they?
They don’t communicate with each other.
Them trying for a baby but not succeeding has caused major stress on both.
Is there anything that can help them fix their relationship?

Honestly, this book was really slow to begin with and I was even a bit bored for the first 20 %. The story was similarly told in past and present tense with many chapters beginning with a flashback that revealed how Caleb and Briar’s relationship came to be. Honestly, I think I would have preferred the whole flashback portion in the beginning of the book and then some of the present could have been cut. However, I understand why the past was revealed little by little as the book progressed, even if I did not like it.

I want her.
I want to seduce her. I want to make her mine. I want to have Briar Goode at my mercy and in my bed.
Then I want to see the look on Caleb’s face when he finds out.

When Dean was a teenager and Caleb forbade him from seeing Isaac, Caleb’s teenage brother and Dean’s boyfriend, anymore, Dean always thought Caleb did it because he was homophobic and resented Isaac for who he was and Dean for what he was to Isaac. That is what causes his resentment towards Caleb and his desire to cause a bigger rift between Caleb and Briar by seducing her.

Caleb’s behavior was all over the place. At first, he was apprehensive about Dean living with them but mostly passive. All of a sudden, he is raging to Dean and being all possessive about Briar. Then, all of a sudden, he ends up messing around with Dean himself and does not care if Briar is involved with him. I did not really catch up to Caleb with his feelings before they changed again. Still, I kind of understood his reasoning behind his actions and feelings even though it was lacking. Also, I feel like he was, largely, overrun by Briar and he let it happen. In the end, he managed to grow some balls but damn did it take a long time for him.

I reminisce on the way it felt when we first met. When I thought Caleb was going to save me. When it felt as if he was my liberation, my safe space, my truth.

Briar was just someone I did not really like in general. I was not a fan of present Briar but when I realized how past Briar behaved, I think she did not deserve Caleb. In college, she was an insecure little b*tch imho and, if I am being honest, she should have been the one who was beaten up. Therefore, when Dean and Caleb ended up worshipping Briar, I was not a fan of it. I would have rather the dynamics of the relationship to be focused on Caleb or Dean.

My heart wants Dean, too. Sweet, dominant, compassionate Dean. But wanting and having are two different things, and if loving Caleb is my crime, then not having Dean is my punishment.

For me, it was more petty than hot from Briar when she sent the video of her and Dean having sex to Caleb at work and urged him to think about his reaction since it might be a dealbreaker in their relationship. Honestly, the guts of this woman? You go and have a revenge fuck with the boytoy that has been spicing up your and your husband’s sex life and then pretty much determine how he can react to it? That’s just fucked up. Or how she just moped in bed and drank every night at the end when Dean was MIA for a week? Bitch please, get a grip. You expect your household to run itself and your husband to go to work but wallow in self-pity yourself.

I want him. In a physical, torturous, heart-wrenching way, I want him. Dean is everything I crave out of my life. Independent and headstrong.
But I love my husband, and I love my family.
I don’t understand why I so desperately feel this need to be free from it.

Honestly, with Briar being described as sweet and good and a bit naive just does not sit well with me. I saw her more as petty, selfish and, especially in their college days, a wimp. I’ll know most people have loved Briar but, honestly, she was my least favorite of all three main characters. She wanted to have her cake and eat it too without budging an inch.

I don’t belong here. I don’t belong with a happily married couple, regardless of how comfortable I feel with them.
I’m the infiltrator, the third wheel, the home-wrecker.

It was actually ironic that Dean felt like the home-wrecker and how he was slightly presented as one as well. Especially considering that Caleb and Briar’s love story began by Briar cheating on her college boyfriend with Caleb and her being unable to decide between the two, even though it was pretty obvious to all involved that she was just a wimp who was afraid to dump her boyfriend for Caleb.

I hate this. I hate that my wife has to bear this and won’t even let me make it better for her.
But I can’t tell her I hate it.

It was kind of sweet how Dean and his expertise as an escort managed to fix pretty much all the problems, especially the lack of communication, in Caleb and Briar’s relationship just by engaging in threesomes with them and making them speak about their feelings afterward. Still, it seems a bit naive that all of a sudden the problems were solved that easily, especially because their sex life pre-Dean consisted of Caleb quickly coming in Briar during the right days and her wanting no reciprocation. Not to mention the lack of passion and romance. No wonder Briar was all hot for Dean immediately when he showed even minor interest towards her, even though the abhorrent state of her sex life with Caleb was largely due to her own fault.

Fun? Did she literally call that fun, as if we just finished playing a board game? I Eiffel Towered my wife with a twenty-six-year-old male prostitute, and she called it fun.

Sara Cate mentions that this was her spiciest book to date. I don’t know if I’ve been reading the same books that she has written before because I would definitely disagree with her. I’d say the first four books in SPC were a lot better as books. Also, they had more and better spice as well. Still, I have to admit the spice in this book was good, even though it did not quite reach the aforementioned level of spice but I’d say there was definitely less spice in this book than SPC. However, I have to hand it to Sara Cate: she really does know how to write a throuple!

”This is a very dirty little wife you have, Caleb.”
“Yes, I do. And she’s all ours.”

The next book will feature Caleb’s twin brother Lucas and Sadie, the girl who helps run Sage’s club. It seems pretty obvious there will be some student-professor vibes in it and I am crossing my fingers and hoping it would reach SPC level because, you guessed right, I will read it in any case.

• • • • •

Please, please, please let this book reach SPC-tier spice and blow me away. That is how badly I just need an amazing read that will blow my mind.

“I loved the part where they just gave in to their desires. I know it was wrong, but it all worked out in the end. That’s what I love about these books; they always end happily. It proves that love really just…conquers all,” I say before taking a drink.

uhhhmmm… did i just enjoy a book with the cheating trope?? i am as surprised as you are! i mean, don’t get me wrong, the actual cheating scenes were rough! with the miscommunication/lack of communication, it HURT. but once all that was over, there were lots of honest conversations and it all felt very genuine.

This moment is fucking wild, and a moment ago, we were fighting, but now he's giving me what I want. And he's finally getting what he wants. None of this would have happened without Dean.

there was a lot going on in this book, aside from the cheating trope. i actually cried a few times for reasons unrelated to the romance aspect of the book (homophobia and death of a parent). the individual plot for this book was fully-fledged out and the over-arching plot of the series was built upon as well.

i have seen some people say that they will be skipping this book due to the cheating trope. i encourage readers to give it a try, cheating trope and all! i think the story as a whole is worth it.

I read this so fast. Reminded me why I like Sara Cate books in the past. However, at the same time, it also reminded me why I no longer read spicy books like this anymore. It's so fun, and it's hard to stop reading, but it lacked the real emotional substance that I now look for. Don't get me wrong, this is exactly how Sara writes her books in the past. It's more of a preference thing. I prefer when books are not focused on spice anymore.

It was fun to go back down memory lane to a Sara Cate MMF book. Gravity and Give Me More were my fav books back in 2022.

Would recommend if you're in a reading slump. You will devour this so quickly.

I might have found my new favorite book 😍

The Goode's have a beautiful child they love and live a life they can be happy with. However, their marriage starts to struggle when they begin to try for a second child. Bryar has been doing everything she can to conceive, but her body is not giving her the results that she is striving for. Because of all the pressure from conceiving, their sexual life is no longer proving the happiness that it once did.

Dean needs a place to stay until he can get back on his feet. The last thing he wants is to live close to Caleb, but he has no choice. The only positive thing about the move is that he can spend more time around Bryar. Caleb notices that Dean can't keep his eyes off his wife, and the two make a bet to see if he can turn her head.

The tension between Caleb, Dean, and Bryar is off the charts. The three learn to prioritize themselves in the bedroom and not be afraid to ask for what they want. This book had a beautiful storyline focused on self-discovery and accepting parts of yourself that you might have hidden for far too long.

Tbh.. it was pretty bad😭😭the storyline and THEIR Marriage was weak asf.

I hate MMF‘s where the third person is clearly just the glue to the other two people. Briar and Caleb would have gotten a divorce without Dean and that fact alone is making me not ship them.
They cheated on each other with Dean and no one judged him HAHAHAAHH. Caleb was the first one to cheat physically but Briar had no right to be angry cause she emotionally cheated for weeks with Dean.
That was all so unnecessary tbh, should have just skipped to the threesome directly.

The Book tried so hard to be something it clearly was NOT.
Acting all deep in love during a time where it literally wasn’t there.😭can someone tell Sara cate that you actually have to write the „falling in love process“ before using Movie lines like „we love each other so much that we cant breath without the others“ AFTER TWO WEEKS💀💀ive read all those moments and was just so confused cause why faking a whole dynamic that WAS NOT BUILT YET. (Same thing happened in her book Mercy and tbh im done).

To the characters, it absolutely made zero sense for Dean to forget his hatred against Caleb without even talking about what happened all those years ago.
After one week staying at their House, he just forgot everything.
Besides that, HE WAS THE ONLY BEARABLE CHARACTER IN THIS THROUPLE RELATIONSHIP. He was nice, hot and tbh too good for them.

Briar is literally a serial Cheater😭i knew that i would hate this book, when i skipped the Flashback chapters EVEN when i normally love those so much in books.
But her weird cheating attitude with Caleb was just so unnecessary😀went so far that Caleb got his hand broken and lost his scholarship. AND HE WASNT MAD😭. This ridiculous storyline deserves jail.

Something that was cute: Briar and Caleb naming their daughter after the nurse who helped Briar to sneak into Calebs hospital because that nurse could „feel the special love between them“. THEN UR THE ONLY ONE FEELING THAT, MISS GURL😭💀

Caleb was boring. He kinda just fed the stereotype that a bisexual man will cheat on his wife with a man. 😀
I liked that he talked to his brother Issac after so many years but their first talk was so unsatisfying.

Something i liked (after hating most of this book) : Briar telling Dean‘s dying Farther that they will take care of Dean. (I had tears in my eyes tbh).

I also liked that Dean told them, he would keep his sex worker job and still be a part of their relationship.
Tbh I dont know if i could live with that but i loved that he stood up for himself and was not ready to give up a huge part of his life.

To make it short: they were a terrible throuple, smut was mostly hot.

4.25 stars | Yes, I binged this book in one day! It's one of my most anticipated books of the year, so of course, I had to dedicate time to it. My heart rate still hasn't calmed down over how HOT this book was! Like... I'm pretty sure this is Sara Cate's spiciest book. 🥵 I'm still recovering from it! I mean, that kink list is long! *fans face*

As its on brand for Sara, this book had a lot of emotional moments that really got me choked up. And then there were moments where I was just smiling at the happiness these characters had and the little moments that just made this book stand out even more, like when Briar gets her period (I won't say anything else, because I think everyone needs to experience this without getting spoiled, because it really was so precious).

Caleb surprised me so much. This man truly loves his wife and will do anything to keep her, even if that means sharing her and possibly also sharing himself, too. Caleb stood out in so many ways. When this man loves, he LOVES. And my precious sunshine Dean was the glue that Briar and Caleb needed for their marriage to survive. As always, Sara did a fantastic job with this throuple, giving space for each character to have their spotlight, while also having them come together in a relationship that felt so organic and truly beautiful to witness. It got to the point where I wanted more from them, of just their every day lives after the epilogues, because I really got attached to them.

This is a mini chaotic review since I JUST finished the book and I'm sleepy, but just know this is a book you do not want to miss out on. If you've loved Sara's previous books, you will love this one!

- mmf
- marriage in crisis
- bisexual
- cheating (trust me, you'll love it)
- corruption kink
- hate to love
- brother's "ex"
- sex worker

Spoilers ahead!!

So first off I think it’s important to mention straight from the outset that this book has the cheating trope. Now normally I stay away from books with this in, but I was curious as I love Sara Cate and wanted to see how she made it work.

I mean the fact that Briar and Caleb initially get together when she cheats on her boyfriend should have been a red flag for me but I read on anyway as curiosity won out.

I didn’t buy the main characters relationships. I don’t understand how they all fell for eachother for starters Dean says he fell for Briar really quickly. Well when?how? It’s not exactly detailed so as the reader their relationship looks very rushed.

I think when you counter this with the cheating trope because their relationship build up isn’t detailed it looks bad on them for cheating.

I also didn’t enjoy the ending everything felt so rushed I was expecting a big blow up and grovelling and maybe some drama but it just wasn’t there.

As always as this is a Sara Cate but it’s filled with lots spice and kink 🔥 which did make the book enjoyable, however I feel as though that’s the only time the characters actually connected, outside the bedroom they were bland and wooden.

This book isn’t all bad and because its Sara Cate it’s written really well but I think it just wasn’t for me, it had too many tropes that just aren’t my favourite such as, miscommunication, cheating and marriage in crisis.

I am however glad I gave this book a chance as I did want to know about Caleb more after meeting him in anti hero. I assume I’ll probably enjoy the other brothers books more.

this is so stupid, what the hell?
First they fuck because they "want" another child, surprise they don't actually want one and are too stupid to COMMUNICATE with each other. It's not like they're both grown people.

then she kisses Dean (the guy her husband "hates") and lies to her husband straight up in his face even though he already knew they kissed because Dean told him. Later they fuck and everything is fine.A little later Dean and her husband go to his mom's and he gives him a blowjob and of course he tells her and guess what... she gets mad, totally freaks out and confronts Dean AND KISSES HIM AGAIN?!

Girl how fucking stupid are you?
So kissing is okay? Oh, of course my bad, I really thought kissing someone else was cheating, but of course not just when you suck someone's dick, but probably only when it's the other person and not you...

just thinking about this book makes me so mad. i had high expectations but this is a HUGE no for me.

I honestly don't know what Sara puts in these books but they are straight crack. Even when I'm like hmmm, idk, this trope isn't really my thing, I devour it in record time it's just that good. I was on the fence about this before I started reading it just because there is cheating involved and I don't condone that at all but I think it's tastefully done here (if that's even a thing).

Once the trio finally started communicating with each other openly, I absolutely adored this book and Caleb, Briar and Dean are so hot and amazing together. I loved how they spoke openly about their relationship with others despite what backlash it may have.

The love Caleb & Briar show for Dean's dad is amazing. I love that Truett Goode is put in his place because that guy is a complete ass. I love that Dean's relationship with Abby grows overtime and how he warms up to her and takes care of her.

This book is off the charts steamy and will have you sweating and fanning yourself in no time.

All that to say this is an easy 5 star book and I am continually awed by Sara's writing.

Thank you to Sara & her team for a copy of the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I adored this story. Totally binged it.

This book follows Caleb (Adam’s brother from the first book) and his wife, Briar.
The story opens up to them struggling in their marriage. They have been trying to conceive another baby with no luck, and with the loaded heartbreak that carries and by sticking to a ‘schedule’, they’ve lost their spark.

Enter Dean. A sex worker who works at Sage’s club.

Caleb and Dean are not strangers. Dean was his brother Isaac’s best friend growing up - which eventually grew to be more.

This story is told with flashbacks that unravel the full details on how Dean and Briar met in college and how they got together. These flashbacks also highlight an event that leaves Dean having anger towards Caleb.

This was sexy, emotional and so deep. While I found it was a little rushed in some parts, Sara always knows how to give us one hell of a story. There are many learning lessons for everyone in this book and it was beautiful to see the three of them fall for each other.

Looking forward to the next book! Special thanks to Sara Cate for the ARC.

Well, this one was delicious and sooo fucking hot 🔥🔥

This relationship was forged by trust. It was thrown into the fire of sin and infidelity until it was melted and softened before being hammered into something new. Something stronger. Something I know in my heart will last forever. ❤❤

Caleb is Adam's brother and has suffered the same familial fate with their now, ostracized preacher father. Caleb is married to Briar, with one child Abigail. They've been together a long time, after Briar cheated and left her abusive and controlling ex for Caleb. They're trying unsuccessfully for another baby, which has put a huge strain on their marriage and their sexy time is reduced to ovulation time only.

Fuck, this is humiliating. Having to beg my wife to let me lick her pussy, both of us knowing full well that ten years ago, she loved how ravenous I was for her. But now feels like we're just performing roles in a well-rehearsed play. And doing a shitty fucking job of it.

I miss you. I still love you. I need you. You mean everything to me. These sentiments die before they reach my lips. They wouldn't make it over the wall between us anyway. She's already miles away.

Dean, was once the lover of Caleb's younger, and now estranged brother Isaac. Dean works at Sage's sex club, and cares for his ailing father. When Dean's father sets fire to their house accidently, Dean is now homeless and has to make some tough decisions about his fathers care.

Caleb and Briar have a room to spare in their house, and as they say ... the rest is history 😉

When Dean moves in, he is taken aback with both Briar and Caleb. And they reciprocate. With Dean's job, he is very experienced in resolving marriage conflicts, and igniting the spark again. Instantly, he can sense their lack of communication and he sets about fixing it, Briar as a submissive and Caleb as a soft-dom.

Caleb - "That's my girl," I say in her ear. "Come on my cock. Don't you dare let me down."
Dean - I want her. I want to seduce her. I want to make her mine. I want to have Briar Goode at my mercy and in my bed. Then I want to see the look on Caleb's face when he finds out. It's funny, really. I've only wanted two people in my entire life. The first time, it was his brother. And now, it's his wife.

I don't really like the cheating trope BUT IN THIS BOOK, IT WAS HOT ASF. Briar and Caleb need the spark back, and Deans helps them find it. But Dean also wants Briar, Caleb wants Briar and Dean, and Briar wants them both too.

Then Dean catches Caleb with his pants in his pocket .... now Dean wants Caleb too.

Fun. Did she literally call that fun, as if we just finished playing a board game? I Eiffel Towered my wife with a twenty-six year old male prostitute, and she called it fun.

Caleb - I'm married, and I know I shouldn't, but fuck, Dean. I need your mouth. I need it so fucking bad.

It broke my heart when they all went to visit Dean's dad and he thought Abigail was his grand-daughter 😭

This is a must read!!

My 3rd book from this author, and I definitely need to now go and read the full Salacious Players Club series.

Oh, how I love me some taboo polyamory disguised as cheating 😌👌 Живея за angst-а в подобни книги. А ако в цялата история имаме намесено и MM сексуално осъзнаване, брой ме първа пушка 👀✨ Адски много напомня на Give Me More като идея, но като изпълнение отстъпва по няколко параграфа:

👉 Стилистиката беше по-елементарна, по-cheezy;
👉 Диалозите бяха по-шаблонни;

I had a lot of fun.

I guess we will see in The Heartbreaker 🤩

Honestly, I really wanted to enjoy this book. I LOVE Sara Cate and her work. Unfortunately, this just wasn’t hitting for me. This could possibly be a me problem. I gave this book a chance even though it has almost every trope I’m not a fan of; cheating, miscommunication, marriage in crisis…and so on. I thought cheating would be the worst of it for me and I could move past but the miscommunication was really off putting for me and made this hard to enjoy and even get through. Honestly, they didn’t even really ever settle what their issues were…they just brought someone else into the bedroom. Also, the married couple didn’t even really seem to like each other half the time. Dean seemed to have more feelings towards the husband and vice versa. It just really wasn’t selling this equal polyamorous relationship to me. The wife almost seemed like a 3rd wheel most of the time.

I will say my favorite part of this book was seeing the friendship and love grow between their 6 year old daughter and Dean. Dean does not like kids at all but loves that little girl and it was the cutest and most believable part of this book and their story. Their side story saved this book for me if I’m being honest.

The spice was very very good though. Dean working as a sex worker and teaching them to step out of their comfort zones and explore was HOT HOT HOT. So where Home Wrecker lacked for me, the spice definitely made up for some of it.

I’ve been trying to figure out what I can do to push this to a 4 star review but I just feel like it would be inauthentic and dishonest. So unfortunately, this wasn’t my favorite Sara Cate book but maybe others who like a miscommunication tropes will enjoy this. The cheating part was honestly minimal. I just felt like the husband and wife used eachother and that lack of chemistry really fumbled the rest of the book for me. However, I will say I LOVE DEAN. He was an awesome character and I almost wish he wasn’t wasted on this married couple…

First off, thank you so much to Sara and her team for providing an ARC!

This book went so much deeper than I thought it was going to! It really pulled on my heart strings and made me feel for all the individual characters. Caleb was experiencing feelings that he had suppressed for a long time, Briar was trying to make her needs more known and Dean was finding a family. I thought that the characters were so well-developed and had so much depth to them.

And can we take a minute to talk about the spice??? Dare I say that this is the spiciest Sara Cate book that I’ve ever read??? The quantity? The quality? SUPERB 🤌🏼

This book didn’t give me that 5⭐️ feeling, but I did really enjoy it! There were a few parts that I was frustrated with how some scenes played out, and this is gonna sounds strange, but I wish there was a little more drama??? For a throuple that’s comprised of a married couple that is having marital issues and the man that they both cheat on each other with (not a spoiler lol, it’s been shared before release day), I felt like the whole situation was rather chill?

Definitely recommend, but make sure to check the tw/cw! There are a few tropes in here that aren’t everyone’s cup of tea.

Not too much on Andy’s story but both he and Sage were in but dude characters, what I loved is that is cleared up the mystery of the other brother- no spoilers! Can’t wait for next books!

Let me count the ways how much I love this book. It’s been over a week, and I can’t stop thinking about it—It has a fantastic storyline and is full of spice—also my top read in March.

From the outside, Caleb and Briar seem to have the perfect marriage, which is farther from the truth. Both are still in love while struggling and the spark that appears to left the marriage. Then enters Dean and turns their world upside down, and let me tell you, I was so ready for it.

The scenes between Caleb and Dean. Explosive, when Caleb becomes jealous, earth-shattering! And Briar, you go, girl. My hero. I love the backstory of the continuation of Caleb’s father's downfall. One scene in particular is my favorite. I will never look at family dinners the same. When Caleb and Dean went into the home office 🥵

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Shall we? Cheating. Yes, this book has cheating. It's not for everyone, and it's okay. But I have no triggers and couldn't wait to read this book. So, if it's not a trigger for you, run to get this book, relax, and enjoy it. You will not be disappointed. I don't think there has been a book the author wrote that I haven't loved!
