My Musings:
This book contains two short novels which have nothing to do with each other. I expected to find overlapping characters, but each book can be read independently.
In Back in the Saddle, Molly Hayes has been in love/lust with Chance McDaniel since she was fifteen years old. Even at nineteen, Chance knew Molly was off limits and never let her know that he wanted her as well.
They both grow up, have disastrous marriages, and meet again after the divorces.
And boy do the sparks fly when Chance finally makes his move on Molly. Chance is into kink and that is what destroyed his first marriage. He is afraid that he will lose Molly for the same reason, so he is understandably nervous about letting her know what he really wants.
Molly, however, has her own dark fantasies and nothing Chance wants is too much for her.
The sex scenes are excellent and very explicit. Chance’s kinks are really not that extreme if you are a seasoned romance reader. There is some bondage and mild spanking, but nothing that can really be classified as BDSM. Chance likes toys and Molly really likes the toys he chooses.
My only problem is there did not seem to be much character development. I blame that on the length of the story. The entire book is only 140 pages long.
The second story, Eight Second Ride, is even shorter than the first and suffers from the same problem. However, also like the first, there are excellent sex scenes which make it a worthwhile read.
The two main characters Sheriff Jessie Wade and Kyle Mitchell are totally different personalities than Molly and Chance. Jessie has her own kinks, but is forced to keep them secret because of her position as sheriff. Kyle is a champion rodeo rider and all of his relationships are one night stands with buckle bunnies.
They obviously have nothing in common, so of course, they end up in bed together.
Jessie is just as assertive as Kyle in getting what she wants in bed. As a matter of fact, she handcuffs him during their first encounter and controls their pleasure. Of course, Kyle turns the tables on her which she enjoys just as much.
The main obstacle to their relationship is Jessie’s fear of losing the respect of the town she protects. It’s up to Kyle to convince her to take a chance.
I don’t normally read short stories and these two titles are not much longer than that. As such, they are quick reads, but the author packs a lot of heat into a little time. For that alone, you should give them a try.
One last concern: the second book had some editing errors. They seemed to be confined to two or three pages. Hopefully they have been corrected since my copy was released.

Readers looking for a way to get rid of those winter chills will find lots of heat from this super steamy anthology featuring two stories set in the rugged world of cowboys. Back in the Saddle reunites old friends who were always attracted to each other but are now free to finally act on those feelings. Molly has been left with low self-esteem courtesy of a cheating ex-husband which has her questioning her desirability. She needn't worry though as the strong and commanding Chance shows her through numerous BDSM-lite scenes. Chance is happy to have a woman fully accepting of his desires and goes out of his way to draw her into his erotic play. These sexual interludes take up most of the story leaving a little room for emotional connection.
In Eight Second Ride an arrogant yet charming bull rider Kyle finds himself attracted to the strong-willed female sheriff Jessie. Jessie is used to being in control both in and out of the bedroom which wins Kyle over and gives him thoughts of long-term if he can just show Jessie that it's okay to give up control and take a chance on the unknown. Two hot short stories in one and woo-baby! They were HOT! Molly being inside her head is like being at the movies entertaining, "angry at myself, embarrassed that I let that jerk make a fool of me. So hungry for you I'd love to jump over this table and rip off your clothes." Chance he's a man takes crap from no one, "the only orders I take from Reuben Hayes have to do with the ranch. Be damn sure of that, okay? I like to hang out here because no one bothers me. And Molly? You're far from a pitiful wreck." He also knows how to lay things out straight, "Molly, when you were fifteen I was nineteen and hadn't yet learned to kiss like that. Besides, you weren't even legal and your daddy would have had my hide." He's endowed and Molly's reaction to that is hilarious, "her own eyes widened when his co** sprang free, long and thick and swollen, the head a deep plum color, the sac of his balls hanging heavy beneath it. Holy s***! He made Boyd look like a toothpick in comparison."
Our next story is about Kyle and well the boy is a ladies man, "mornin', ma'am. I'd tip my hat to you but it seems to have disappeared." Its almost a given that when you see a book with Desiree Holt’s name on it that you know its going to be a great read. This one is no exception. What’s better than a book with a sexy cowboy? How bout one with a double shot of sexy cowboy along with a little kink thrown in!
Back in the Saddle is about Molly & Chance. Molly has had a crush on Chance since she was 15 but he didn’t know she existed. While Chance stayed in town and became foreman of her father’s ranch Molly left town and got married. Now they are both back on the ranch & have both gone through a messy divorce. Will they be able to climb the high walls they both have built and be able to make a go of it?
Eight Second Ride is about a sexy bull rider named Kyle and a small town sheriff named Jessie. They didn’t meet under the best of circumstances with Kyle being locked up after getting drunk and destroying a bar in her town. No Kyle wants to improve her image of him. After all she is the sexiest sheriff he has ever scene. However Jessie knows how fast rumors can spread in a small town and doesn’t want to give him the time of day. However Kyle won’t stop until Jessie gives him a chance.
These are both to great short reads. The are a perfect mixture of sweet and sexy. If you like a good cowboy story go grab this book cause you’ll get 2 in 1 !!

Molly and Chance each found the other unforgettable years ago, but the timing wasn't right and they'd each gone off to marry poor substitutes for the other. It's a pleasure to see them seize the opportunity to get things right this time around. They've matured and it's clear their chemistry is as sizzling hot as ever. Ms. Holt has readers rooting for Molly and Chance and their happy ending from the start.
Eight Second Ride is equally hot and sweet. Jessie and Kyle meet when she's forced to arrest the famous rodeo star for drunk and disorderly behavior one evening. Once he sobers up, it's clear they share a sizzling mutual attraction, even if Jessie's intent on ignoring it. But Kyle nothing if not determined, and he's figuring this is a ride he wants to ride for FAR longer than eight seconds. He's looking forward to a lifetime with Jessie, and he just needs to get her on board, too :)

I love Molly and Chance in Back in the Saddle. It’s a story of two people with some age difference so even though they crushed and lusted after each other years ago, it just couldn’t have happened. Now Molly comes back home after a failed marriage. Chance isn’t about the let this “chance” slip by. They get kinky, it gets hot, and they fall into a sweet HEA…good story.
Jessie and Kyle aren’t young pups either. Kyle is thinking about retiring from bull riding. Jessie is in her career prime. They are good together and just what the other needs.
Both stories has a sweet HEA and some hot kinky Sex…it’s an all-around good time!

This included Back In The Saddle and Eight Second Ride! When Desiree Holt writes something, I read it, plain and simple! She never disappoints me. Both stories were pure sexy, kinky fun! Even though they were both short reads, it was full of very sexy alpha men who knew how to satisfy their women!

There are two separate stories in this book. They both have pretty decent character development for such short stories, and the author has done excellent editing. The sex scenes are very erotic and include the use of toys. The reason I gave this 4 stars and not 5, is because the characters fall in love, but I didn't feel their relationships had really gone much beyond amazing hot sex. Both of these stories stand alone and do not end in a cliffhanger.

Pretty silly actions and dialog. Southern drawl in writing just doesn't do it for me. Erotic parts were OK allthough I'm not fond of the butplug part and so forth. Read first story and the beginning of second. Didn't care how it would end.

2.5 stars. DNF at 57%. Not the worst thing I've attempted to read. Definitely not the best either. Just not for me, though I'm sure there are many others out there that would love it.

This book is a 2 book collection. The second book was awesome. The first book was good, but I'm not sure what but it needs a little something. Its still a steamy good collection that was short but sexy and steamy. I definitely love me some cowboy love. Yum!!

this was actually two books Ride a Cowboy and Eight Second Ride. They are exactly what you are thinking mostly all sex and very little story. They were both short stories. Not my kind of book

I love anything that Desiree Holt writes. This double dose of cowboy kink was filled to the brim with sultry moments and a whole lot of toys to go around. *Hope you brought your pitcher of iced tea because you'll need all the ice you can stand with this one.* Sugared sweetness cowboy style with tons of kink thrown in is the flavor of the day.
The first story "Back in the Saddle" is centered around Molly and Chance. They have both just gone through terrible divorces and are about to discover that old flames burn the brightest, even through the bruises and scars of love's devastation. This cowboy has a toy box I wish I had hanging around in the back of my closet, let me tell you. Anal play, anal sex, vibrators and ben wa balls make the wait worth the while. This is a hot story that I enjoyed.
The second piece is "Eight Second Ride." In this story we meet Kyle and Jessie. Kyle is a rodeo star with no staying power and Jessie is a sheriff with more curves than the handcuffs on her belt. The two go round and round, finally ending up in each others arms. There are some lovely toys in this story as well.

This cowboy has a toy box I wish I had hanging around in the back of my closet, let me tell you. Anal play, anal sex, vibrators and ben wa balls make the wait worth the while. This is a hot story that I enjoyed.
The second piece is "Eight Second Ride." In this story we meet Kyle and Jessie. Kyle is a rodeo star with no staying power and Jessie is a sheriff with more curves than the handcuffs on her belt. The two go round and round, finally ending up in each others arms. There are some lovely toys in this story as well.

What a hot read of two great stories. I could not put this book down. Both stories are written pretty well and have some BDSM. The characters in well written and each story draws you in and keeps you there until the very end. Molly and Chance knew each other a long time ago but the timing was not right. Now that they are older the love sizzles.
