The Situationship #3

The Daddy Arrangement

Rate this book
Someone once told me I give Daddy Issues a bad name. I laughed at the time, but since I found myself living with my dad’s best friend, Stuart Wiseman, it doesn’t feel all that funny anymore.

Living with him is a nightmare. He’s super pedantic about everything. He took one look at me and decided I need help with adulting, and he seems absolutely positive he’s the man for the job. He’s hellbent on improving me, scolding me about this and correcting me on that.

Obviously I don’t take it lying down, I give as good as I get.

Things come to a head one night and I find myself staring down the barrel of a thick, angry index finger pointed close to my face.

“You’re playing with fire, Boy, and you’re headed for leather.”

Every schema I’ve ever used to make sense of the world implodes.

I’m furious. I hate it. Fully hate it. Hate every single thing about it.

Except that I don’t - and that makes it worse. Way worse. Some stupid part of me loves it. Some even stupider part craves it.

Lucky for me, Stuart knows a Daddy’s boy when he sees one. He offers to discipline and take care of me, to do the hard parts of adulting for me until I get back on my feet. Obviously, it isn’t a relationship. He’s literally old enough to be my father. So no, it’s not a relationship. Get your mind out of the gutter. It’s an arrangement…A Daddy Arrangement.

And that’s all it will ever be.

Right?

Whether my characters are born magical, or whether magic is something they make between the sheets, I strive to take the reader into the mind of the narrator. My ultimate goal is to leave the reader feeling like they’ve made a new friend or have spent a few hours flirting with a brand-new book boyfriend.

I love coffee, chocolate and daydreaming, in no particular order. I love conflicted characters, lust at first sight and angst – no seriously, ALL the angst. Give it to me!

The Daddy Arrangement is the third book in the The Situationship series and I think my favorite so far.

Elliot is struggling financially, and with his debt, he can't afford rent anymore. Elliot ends up living with his father's best friend Stuart, but he soon realises that he needs more than a place to live; he needs a full-time Daddy.

I love age gap, Daddy kink, and father's best friend trope! The Daddy Arrangement hit all the marks, and I enjoyed it so much. I've been struggling with reading due to real life being hectic, but once I started this book, I could not put it down. It's not a secret that I am a huge fan of Jesse's amazing writing, but adding my favourite kink and tropes? Yes, please.

My heart went out to Elliot. Poor thing had an absent father and childhood experiences that impacted his self-esteem as an adult. His father caused him to stamp down on any feelings of hope and exceptions. He feels unseen and unheard, and it's no wonder with many of the adults in his life failing him. He sees his friends falling in love and feels that can't be him. My heart broke for him.

However, with Stuart, his confidence is not only growing, but he finally has someone who puts him first and cares for him. Someone who listens to him and provides him what he needs. He’s a boy who needs to be taken care of, and Stuart does that and more.

I feel coddled and pampered as fuck as I chew. I feel taken care of and smug and spoiled, and for the first time in my life, I relate to Jessie. I relate hard.

I also really loved seeing him have expectations and looking forward to things with Stuart. I also love the codependency as well.

I’m starting to realize how un-okay I am about being without him. I need him. I don’t just need him. I want him. Not even in a pervy way. I want him to ask how my day was, and I want him to dish up my food for me, and I want him to make me a smoothie that tastes like ass.

I know I’m a mess, and I know he can see it. I don’t care though. I want him to see. I don’t know what he sees in my eyes, but in his, I see sternness and consequences. Caring and kindness.

Stuart really falls into his role as Daddy. That is who he is at his core, and once he realizes that Elliot needs a strong, firm hand and routine, he is ready to take on the task. He’s patient, provides discipline and praises him when needed. He also takes the time to teach him instead of just giving him orders or instructions.

I love it when he teaches me anything. I love being close to him, and I love that he takes the time needed to focus on improving me. I love it so much that I found myself squirming while being taught how to water houseplants the other day, but being taught how to take a dick?

The age gap between them is closer to 20, and with Elliot being the son of a dear friend + coming out of a bad break-up, he tries to keep things non-sexual. However, it becomes hard as Elliot wants more and his feelings towards his boy grow. I’m glad that he started to come to his senses.

I’ve had my arm around him since we sat, and I won’t be moving it anytime soon. Arrangement or not, there’s no way on Earth I’ll ever let a boy who needs comfort go without.

Why the fuck does it matter that he’s Jeff’s son? Who the hell is Jeff to think he has some sort of ownership over Elliot when he hasn’t done a damn thing to be a father to him? And who the hell is society to tell us I’m too old and Elliot’s too young.

This book was definitely on the kinky side. Jesse writes super steamy and well-written sex scenes, and this book was no different. I love how Stuart became more of a Daddy Dom during sex, and Elliot, despite his sexual experience, still had this innocence and shyness. Also, the impact play. There is a lot of spanking!! Hands, belts, paddles! Lots of spanking.

The sight that greets me is the stuff of dreams. My dreams. A beautiful, beautiful boy on my bed. My boy. Stark naked. Legs spread. Smooth, velvety skin wrapped snuggly around solid muscle. Hamstrings tensed and ass tilted up. A pretty pink hole perfectly presented for me.

And Jesus, he makes me feel good. His body is perfect for mine. Perfect. A perfect hole for this dick. A perfect boy for this Daddy.

Did I already say I love how sweet and caring Stuart is as a Daddy? I just love how he did not shy away or want to hide his relationship with Elliot and was ready to face his father. I appreciate that there was no big miscommunication or third act break up. The resolution with the father while brief felt realistic as well. I also felt that while Elliot was definitely a boy, he was also a bit of a middle. There’s no age play at all, but he seemed like he was more innocent and childlike with Stuart.

Overall, I really enjoyed The Daddy Arrangement and can’t wait for book four - Rent: Paid in Full!

I read this over the span of several weeks because I was reading other ARC’s in between this one. It was so hard to keep having to put this one on hold. I love it so much.

This is book three of The Situationship series. This is dual POV and has an HEA. It was one of the best daddy/boy books I’ve read.

🦯MM Romance
🦯Pining
🦯Age Gap
🦯Spanking
🦯Found Family
🦯Hurt/Comfort
🦯Forced Proximity
🦯Dad’s Best Friend
🦯Daddy/Boy Dynamic
🦯Bratty Boy/Strict Daddy
🦯Enough spankings to make you sweat, some impact play and praise kink.

It’s no secret I love a daddy/boy dynamic. This one was so well written and Jesse H Reign, made me love Elliot, even though, in book one, I was less than happy with him.

Elliot finds himself in a predicament, he has trouble controlling his spending and maintaining his bank account. Stuart, his father’s best friend agrees to take him in and help him until he gets back on his feet.

Stuart is strict, he likes things a certain way, he doesn’t take disrespect or disobedience very well. Also, don’t mess with his placemats. Elliot’s bratty attitude, defiance, and impulsiveness leads to him finding himself in a new situation. This boy needs a daddy more than anyone.

The way these two clash, the tension and the chemistry between them made this book. I loved all the intense moments where they kept trying to fight the bond they both felt. Elliot was sort of off limits to Stuart due to the age difference and the fact it’s his best friends son.

I love all the teaching moments in this one and how Stuart helped Elliot and listened to what he needed. The story also had a sweet side to it and I’m living for it.

Thank you Jesse H Reign for the opportunity to read this ARC for you.

Hot and surprisingly well written low angst daddy/boy romance 🔥

I remember the first book in this series, and being disappointed because it had so much potential that it didn’t live up to. Subsequently, I skipped book 2 because of the very mixed reviews.

Imagine my surprise when book 3 turned out to be the charm, especially as daddy/boy romances are a bit hit and miss for me. The relationship build was organic, and a lot deeper than I’d expected.

The “boy” is Elliot, a 24yo with money issues, who is forced to move in with his father’s best friend, Stuart, because he can’t afford to live in LA on his own. Stuart is in his early 40s and still not completely over his former relationship. He’s a Daddy, and he instinctively knows that Elliot needs a firm hand, and rules by which to abide - but Stuart fights it, mainly because of the age difference, and the fact that Elliot is his best friends son.

Elliot on the other hand hasn’t been in this kind of a relationship before. He’s unsettled, wanting nothing more than to be loved by everyone, but overdoing everything - he’s too much of everything for most people, even occasionally for his friends.

But not for Stuart. Wanting nothing more than to help Elliot, Stuart enters a non-sexual “situationship” with Elliot, giving him rules, and boundaries, and yes, the occasional punishment Elliot craves as well.

It’s… hot. I loved being in Elliot’s mind and experiencing his thought process and the way he thrives a Daddy, all that without being a pushover. All in all a really well written, slightly kinky romance that’s almost (but not quite) a 5 star read.

4.5 stars. This story, of an adorably out-there young guy who unexpectedly finds a Daddy in his biological father’s best friend, was way more than I expected.

We’ve met Elliott in the previous 2 books in “The Situationship” series, and, to be completely honest, I found him pretty juvenile and annoying. One of those puppy-dog-friendly, immature young guys who never seems to have their sh*t together. Well, wasn’t there massive character development in this book, and a depth of personal insight and reflection that surprised me!

Slightly stereotypical with the “boy with daddy issues irl needs a Daddy-kink relationship”, I’m pleased to say it’s deeper than that. Elliot’s need for a Daddy sneaks up on him, as he gets into a dire financial situation & has to move in with his dad’s best mate. His dad however has that role in his life by name only - largely absent for most of his life, and emotionally absent even when he’s there. The descriptions of a young Elliot trying to get his dad’s attention are surprisingly tear-inducing. But the way he falls for Stuart, realising that the unique relationship they have is everything that they need? SO SWEET. And the way Stuart cares for him is gorgeous too.

I found that there was a missed opportunity that we didn’t hear Stuart’s POV at the time of them transitioning from a platonic Daddy arrangement to a sexual relationship. I really wanted to be in his head about what changed his mind. But I loved the rest of it so much that I overlooked that. Once they were both “all in” with the relationship, it was super romantic, and their connection was adorable.

With regards to kink awareness, obvs there is lots of Daddy/boy content, but no age play. They are heavily into impact play, using hands & a variety of toys/implements, so maybe give it a miss if that’s not your thing. Content warnings for parental abandonment, grief (end of relationship), sexual content, and anxiety disorder.

I swear this book felt like a warm hug.

Daddy kink is something I really enjoy when the focus is more on the taking care of their boy aspect, rather than overly focused on the sexual side of the relationship. Making sure he's eating right, taking care of himself and is getting all his emotional needs met before anything else just gives me that happy feel.

I really liked Stuart and Elliot together, they felt well balanced and their relationship progression was so fun to read. It was really nice to see Luke and Jessie, and Trouble, Will and Matt again. I'm also looking forward to Wyn's upcoming book too.

I usually not often read daddy/boy dynamics because they often can’t catch me or something just feels off but this one here was just amazing!!

Trops:

🖤Daddy/Boy
🖤Spanking
🖤praise and humiliation
🖤Dom/sun
🖤Ages gap

The story starts that Elliott has money problems and out of need he moved in with his dads best friend, Stuart. Elliot is bratty, insecure and impulsive but also really sensitive and he longs for a daddy to guide him and how fate decided Stuart is a Daddy through and through. He is kinda old school, stoic but also has a good feeling for the needs that his boy has.

I really loved the character development and the chemistry between those two! They both really found in each other what they needed.

⭐︎ 4.5 Stars Rounded Up! ⭐︎

I really enjoyed this. I don't remember Elliot from Jessie and Luke's book, but I didn't need to, really.

This starts off with Elliot being in debt, and needing a place to stay. His very absentee father calls his best friend, Stuart and asks him to help Elliot out.

At first, it seems like arrangement isn't going to work. Stuart is seemingly too uptight and Elliot too unstructured.

But when things reach a breaking point, Stuart gives Elliot a spanking over his clothes, and Elliot consents to it.

Because as bratty as he acts...it's really just a cry for attention he's never really gotten. And Elliot turns out to be quite a bit kinky, and Stuart just happens to be kinky as well.

I was very happy how heavily this leaned into the Daddy kink. It wasn't just them saying "Daddy" and "boy" with maybe a spanking here or there when they the "boy" did something wrong. It was a full on Daddy/boy, D/s dynamic between them.

Once they really got into the "arrangement" between them, Elliot rarely ever called Stuart anything other than Daddy and Stuart mainly called him "baby" or "little boy"

So this story goes full on daddy kink, which I appreciated. It's annoying when a book says it'll have Daddy kink and not fully follow through on it.

The sex, once they get there, was also wonderfully done and definitely hot and scorching. Their chemistry was really good together.

My only real gripe was how this handled Elliot's actual father. He had Elliot young, when he was 18 and he never really learned how to be a father. He has been so absent throughout Elliot's life that he doesn't even remember how old he is (!). As someone who had an absentee parent who forgot my birthday, that shit SUCKS.

But then Elliot's dad shows up near the end, is all awkward and shitty toward Elliot (and then tries to act a little high and mighty by having a problem with Stuart and Elliot being in a relationship), Elliot calls him out on it (a little bit) and then the dad just gives a lot explanation about why he's been such a shitty father and then it's all just kinda...okay? Not perfect, but okay.

It felt too easy and not earned. Like okay, here's why you were a shit dad...but that still doesn't make any of it okay? And we get NOTHING from this father until the very end and then all the sudden he cares to explain to his 24 year old son (who he doesn't even remember the age of in the first place!) why he's a shit dad? But does he even change his ways? Why would being called out one time just make him want to all the sudden, 24 years into it, change his ways?

It didn't make a lot of sense and was just all too easy for my tastes. The scene was just there and gone so quick. I think the dad should have been in this more than just at the very end for one measly scene where he barely has to do anything to be given another chance by Elliot. Also we don't even get to see Stuart lay into him, which could have been epic. *sigh*

So, that bothered me a bit.

But other than that, I loved the rest of this. Definitely worth a read and I can't wait for the next one! I bet it'll probably be Wyn finally getting his HEA.

Can't wait! 😍

My Ratings for the Situationship Series:

Edit: listened to the audio 2024 and had a great time revisiting. Original review October 2023: Such a delight! Great on consent, spicy and sweet, never bland, always satisfying. A lovable comfort read when you want some humor and some steam.

Honestly Jesse H Reign’s books are always on the verge of too much smut for me, but it’s well done and the narrations are always funny and full of character I end up loving all of them. I find myself grinning the whole time I’m reading just seeing the characters think and react to one another even before the Lust or love get rolling.
Definitely recommend to fans of MM romance with spicy scenes.

A few favorite quotes from the two characters’ first impressions of each other:

Elliott’s first impressions of the older Stuart:
“Fuck knows what his obsession with placemats is, but he’s super pedantic about it. I get the distinct feeling that in the world of Stuart Wiseman, people who don’t use placemats are classed lower than animals.”
“I bet he’s one of those people who read somewhere that you’re supposed to chew each bite twenty-eight times, and instead of doing it once or twice like a normal person, he’s made a point of doing it ever since.”

Stuart’s first impression of the younger Elliott:
“I’ve been studying him closely. I’m still unable to explain exactly how it happens, but as he moves through the house, things seem to collapse into chaos behind him. Possessions fly off surfaces and onto the floor in his wake, landing heavily on the floor.”

June 2024 - 4.5 stars

Held up well on the re-read and I thought the audio was great: both narrators perfectly suited the characters and also managed good voices for when the other MC was speaking.

Such a good epilogue, too.

Feb 2024 - 4 stars

Sweet, soft, cute, but also fun and electric.

Once they get past their assumptions, it was very enjoyable to see Stuart teach Elliot all the little things that no one ever showed him, and support and encourage his learning so he could gain some agency.

Their communication was mostly very good, which I love, though I feel like they should have more explicitly negotiated what punishments would be and I was upset for Elliot when he had to use his safeword during a time-out.

I also wish we'd learned more about what happened with Damien, Stuart's ex, and I think the pretty shit family situation was glossed over at the end.

That said, this is a low-angst book, with a very sweet couple, whose relationship I totally believed in, and I'd definitely recommend it for someone looking for a fun DD/brat story.

Sadly, this book was a complete miss for me. I've adored all the other books written by this author and I love Daddy Kink as well as spanking but it just fell completely flat.

The way Elliot acted at times was more like that of a Little and was regressing to the age of ten or so with his outbursts and reactions. I know that this is coming from a kid who really had no over watch from parents but I'm pretty sure basic manners are taught or at least, learned by being around other people? How does one not know to be at least decent to the company letting you stay FOR FREE? I was honestly embarrassed FOR him.

Honestly I don't know how Stuart did it or how he kept letting him stay regardless of how interrupted his schedule became, how Elliot's stuff cluttered his house and how he discarded his requests for sleep at a normal hour. Also, dude. They're just placemats. Just put them down and let it go. I'd have kicked him out a lot sooner, best friends son or not.

I really didn't get into either character until about 60% and then the Little play came into aspect which threw me off really. I don't mind Little/Daddy play but this wasn't what I was excepting and coming off from how Elliot already irritated me, the childish behavior and regression didn't help me connect to him going forward.

I slightly wish there would have been more... Idk, angst with the sperm donor? I felt like everything just was accepted with ease after a moment and it became okay. I wouldn't have kept in contact with a friend who treated his kids like that, nor would I have kept in contact with a father who did the same. Not all relationships can be kept and maintained and I really wish this one would have been severed because honestly? Dad kind of sucks and doesn't deserve either of their time. Realizing you should be a better person is a great thing, but it doesn't mean people you've treated in the past have to accept you with arms open wide.

I did receive an ARC and many thanks for it but this book just wasn't my jam.

Do you like MM W/Daddy/Brat? If the answer is yes, then this book is for you.

Here is what to expect

MM
Daddy/ Brat
Hurt/Comfort
Dad’s Best Friend
Age Gap
Found family
A ton of Spankings
Spice and Everything Nice

Elliot finds himself living with Stuart, his father’s best friend, to get his life back on track. What he finds is a strict Daddy Dom. He liked order, respect, and everything a certain way. Maybe a little OCD. At the same time, Elliot is the complete opposite. He is bratty, carefree, and needs a daddy more than he realizes.

The chemistry radiates off them both while trying to fight the chemistry; it just makes it more intense. I love how Stuart knew what Elliot needed.

Daddy Arrangement is the first and not the last book from this author. It’s a must-read.

Elliot was the star of this almost 400 page Daddy show, but in my opinion he didn't really get the story he deserved.

This book has a very well explained dynamic of the Daddy/boy kink with a touch of BDSM. I like the lighter Daddy kink without the paddles and belts, but Elliot is simply wired this way, he needs it, so as a character, he was a natural, he wasn't just trying it on or experimenting, it's just who he is, so for Elliot I'm rating this story with 3.5⭐.

🔵 Dad's best friend
🟣 Daddy/Boy
🟠 Gay/bisexual
🔴 BDSM (spanking, paddle, cane, belt)
🟡 Age gap - 16 years
🟢 Dynamic starts as non-sexual
🔵 A deadbeat dad/daddy issues
🟠 A flamboyant, energetic boy
🟣 Daddy feels like he's in his 60's
🟢 Several subplots not well developed
🟡 Story doesn't pull you in, becomes too stale
🌶️ Good sex, a lot of it; t/b

Forget about that cover, that isn't Elliot at all, he's better looking (yes, I'm definitely sensitive about the covers). Elliot is a flamboyant, open, talkative guy with a cocky attitude who likes to dress in colorful clothes, he's always insanely well dressed, wears tight pink underwear around the house, he's well built, emotional and I absolutely loved his character.

Elliot winds up in debt, so to stay in his present environment with his job and all his friends, his deadbeat dad's best friend Stuart takes him in for a while, just so Elliot gets on his own two feet again. Stuart, the friend, is 40 years old, blond, broad and ripped and throughout the book we're constantly told how he's old and weathered, which - what? A 40 year old man in his prime? Okay, girl.

Stuart acts like he's 60, he talks like he's just about to retire, so his dialogues with Elliot weren't really appealing. At first I thought Stuart is simply holding back intentionally and he's saving the best for last, in case him and Elliot do get closer, but no, that's not at all what happened, Stuart is, in fact, that boring.

Elliot needs grounding, he's flying all over the place and needs a strong hand to keep him in line - but more emotionally in line than anything else. He's also had this inner desire for something he can't name for as long as he can remember, so his relationships were mostly with women, some with men, none of them were satisfying, everything was disappointing.

"It feels like something has woken inside me, something that's been there but has lain dormant until now. Now that it's awake... it wants."

When Elliot finds out Stuart is a Daddy and he's offering to guide him, he's immediately down for it, but in time Elliot starts wanting more. He gets the spankings, but again - he wants more. He wants to emotionally really go deep in there and relieve the stress and the pressure that's keeping him dissatisfied and hollow, so eventually Elliot and Stuart's relationship becomes sexual.

"I want his soft words and his harsh discipline. I want him to call me a good boy. And I want him to treat me like I'm bad."

The story delves deep into this dynamic - and even if I'm not a fan of such a dynamic, I was willing to read all about it, simply because Elliot was such a sweet character and the story started out pretty good, it was entertaining and the tension was definitely there.

But what really let me down was Stuart's character. He just doesn't deliver. He's a Daddy alright, but he's emotionally completely unavailable. He keeps Elliot far away from him, he's like a school teacher - and not in a sexy way. He's just delivering his teachings and carrying out his punishments, but stays the same, their relationship is not evolving, even in the second half of the book they're staying in each other's rooms and go over that hill at the very end when Stuart meets his ex and they have a weird, cringe encounter that doesn't really explain anything of what happened in Stuart's past relationship that had him going celibate for years.
But we do hear about how many boys and girls he's punished over the years.

Elliot's dad - Jeff - and Stuart's best friend is a terrible side character and I thought there was going to be a bit more drama there, but Elliot just lets go and forgives everything by the end of the book. What was even the point? Why even bring him into the story?

There were a lot of spankings and none of the emotional reward as far as Elliot and Stuart's relationship goes. There was an award for Elliot, but he stood alone on that hill for quite some time. That's how I felt reading this book. It didn't move a single thing inside of me, but I did like Elliot a lot, more than any other character in this series.

All of the books I've read so far from this author don't go over 3* for me except the latest, Rent Paid In Full, I did like that one.

*I'm putting this on my 'Out Of My Comfort Zone' shelf, because as much as I am for the light Daddy kink and some light spankings, I'm definitely not for BDSM, not yet.

I'd like to start off by saying the daddy kink trope is not one of my favourites, buuuut the author did a great job with this story and the plot wasn't only about the kink. There was so much more in this story that got me loving it from beginning to end.
Elliot is drowning in debt, he can't even afford rent so his dad asks his best friend to let Elliot stay with him. Stuart, Elliot's dad's friend, agrees and they both start living together. Stuart is a man in control, he likes things his way and he is a Daddy, so when he meets the disaster Elliot is that part of himself can't help to come out to the surface. Lucky for him, Elliot seems to be in for all of it.
Elliot was so lost that I couldn't help but feel bad for him. It wasn't just that he had debts, he just didn't know how to live his life in the right way. He needed guidance, but also someone who helped him get back on track and offer him what he had always truly desired. Stuart was all that and even more.
There were so many Daddy/Boy scenes in this book that were more than just a kink between two men. There was love and understanding, and getting what they both needed and wanted. It felt like Elliot and Stuart were made for each other, two halves of the same whole and it was beautiful to witness how Elliot became his true self. Stuart had been left heartbroken from a previous relationship, he didn't want to get into a new one even though a year had already passed since his break-up, but he couldn't just help to develop feelings for Elliot.
One of the things that I loved about this story was that their agreement started as a non-sexual thing between them. Stuart was just willing to give Elliot what he needed, no strings attached and I found that to be very selfless, which showed what a wonderful person Stuart was. Of course, they were inevitable and their relationship was heartwarming and touching.
I truly loved this book and I can't wait to see who's next on this Situationship series.

Jesse Reign is very good at smut, and I stan for that reason. But this one just didn't hit all the way. It's a very straightforward daddy/boy situation. With Gould, the lovable airhead we've met in the first two books, moving in with Stuart - who is his father's best friend and a significantly older Daddy. Gould, first name Elliot, has deep-seated issues with his actual father and a huge discipline problem, and Stuart has a daddy-dom streak a mile wide. Made for each other, of course. There's lots of impact play, but it takes about half the book for it to get good. I wasn't terribly interested in their relationship, to be honest. And although it was hot, I was a little bored. This is not really my kink, so maybe I am just not the target audience. Still, I'll give it to Ms Reign, she knows how to write a sex scene.

Ahhhh! The third book in the series and the one I didn’t know I absolutely needed! I’m a sucker for age gap AND daddy kink. Add in a character I’m surprised I really liked (Elliot, aka Chaotic Gould) and a Daddy in every sense of the word (Stuart, aka Elliot’s absent dad’s best friend and current roommate) and this was one heckuva ride from start to finish. I laughed and fanned myself and good clapped and rolled my eyes so many times.

So. Good.

I LOVED Stuart’s progression. I cackled. He went from stoic and in control to rabid. Elliot pushed every single one of his buttons and flipped all his switches and then some. It was both a train wreck and inevitable. And by the end, I ADORED these two. Stuart gave Elliot everything he needed and Elliot healed Stuart’s heart and made him incandescently happy. And yes, I rarely use that most perfect word…but it fits SO WELL here.

“ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛʜᴇꜱᴇ ɪɴᴄʜᴇꜱ, ʙᴀʙʏ?” ʜᴇ ɴᴏᴅꜱ Qᴜɪᴄᴋʟʏ. “ʜᴏᴡ ᴍᴀɴʏ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ?” ʜɪꜱ ᴛᴏɴɢᴜᴇ ᴅᴀʀᴛꜱ ᴏᴜᴛ ʙᴇᴛᴡᴇᴇɴ ʜɪꜱ ʟɪᴘꜱ, ᴍᴏɪꜱᴛᴇɴɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇᴍ. “ᴀʟʟ ᴏꜰ ᴛʜᴇᴍ.” [this whole scene is 🤌🏻🥵]

This whole series is amazing. I love every single person in this world. It was great seeing Luke & Jessie. It was great seeing Trouble, Will, and Mat. I want to know more about Wyn, but y’all, this is a comfort series. It’s THAT sexy and amazing.

Even though the tropes were totally up my alley and they worked wonderfully for the plot I just didn’t love it. There isn’t really a reason. Or maybe I just can’t describe my feelings about this book. I don’t know.

Elliot was entertaining as fuck though. I just need to point that out. I loved how he pushed buttons and totally knew what the consequences would be. He lived for it and that was fabulous to witness.

Y’all in my mind I swear I reviewed this book already because, despite being none of the tropes/themes I normally read, it’s my favorite of the series!

These two MCs fit together so well. Gould has the two worst parents on the planet and feels embarrassed for not knowing the things he thinks a "typical" 24-year-old should know. But it's not his fault, because no one ever cared enough to teach him 😭 So underneath all his antics he is seeking someone who can attentively listen when he speaks and, most importantly, make him feel valued and significant instead of small and ignored like his POS parents.

Once Stuart realizes that Gould is not the spoiled brat he thought he was, their dynamic shifts quite seamlessly. But things progress methodically & slowly as he takes time to build trust and explain things to Gould (which I was worried wouldn't happen because this young man doesn't even know how to chop vegetables y'all so we are starting at level negative 10).

I also really appreciated how Stuart handled the confrontation with his supposed best friend and Elliot's dad near the end of the book.

*I received and arc of this book, all opinions are my own*

The qualities that I am enjoying in this author’s books are not in this one. I could not connect with Daddy Stuart or Boy Elliot. I feel that I shouldn’t even use D/b to describe their relationship. It was more like stern older roommate and messy young roommate who needs therapy from childhood abandonment issues.
Elliot’s childish and surly attitude was off putting. I found him to be charmless and Stuart dull. Not being into either MC is a red flag in my romance reading.
Stuart tolerated Elliot’s bad behavior until he didn’t and started spanking. This is the usual scenario in this type story, but the writing of any desire was too low key and had no spark of passion.
It was dragging too much and I stopped reading. 57%

***ARC Review***

This is my honest and voluntary review for the ARC I received.

Jesse H Reign does a great job of keeping readers engaged in this story. Reign’s plot points, dialogue, character development, and steam are spot on. In this third installment in the Situationship series, Elliot and Stuart are slated to live together for the next six months. Elliot has racked up some debt and his dad reaches out to his childhood friend, Stuart, for a favor. There is a 16 year age gap between Elliot and Stuart. (Dad’s best friend is a trope that I definitely enjoy). Elliot has a lot of bad habits that he needs to work on, and Stuart is just the man to help him learn his place and some new skill sets.

I enjoyed the push and pull between the MCs in the beginning as they navigate living together, as well as, figuring out what kind of arrangement works best for them. Stuart is serious and mature. Though he comes off as strict, he’s also protective and dishes out the praise (which unlocks another kink for Elliot). I appreciated that readers get to see how Elliot’s mind works in this book. He’s a larger than life personality in the other novels in the series, so it was interesting to see why he acts the way that he does at times. (It was really pleasing to see that bratty Elliot is actually a good egg at heart).

Elliot and Stuart have intense chemistry. (FYI, there’s tons of spanking in this book). Their arrangement helps both of them come to terms with different aspects of their pasts. (Damien seems like a total tool, btw). Elliot grows more confident as his situationship with Stuart progresses. It’s obvious they both men genuinely care for one another the longer their arrangement goes on. I think both MCs fill a void for the other in a way that no one else can. I was happy to see Elliot’s gaggle of friends pop back up in this book. It was great catching up with previous characters from the series in little doses. While this book is pretty low angst, both MCs have to overcome challenges (some individual, some societal) to reach their HEA. The last chapter in this book gives all the feels!

Jesse writes big feelings like nobody’s business. Elliot Gould (Gouldie) is feeling so much, and doesn’t really know what to do with it. Struggling to know himself and completely incapable of setting boundaries, he is out of control. His wayward life lands him on the doorstep of Stuart Wiseman, who is his absentee father’s best friend and sixteen years his senior. Stuart, by contrast, is a man of complete control. He is calm and collected, particular and a bit stodgy at times. His outward demeanor belies the literal drawer full of tricks he’s hiding. To be honest, I struggled a bit to really connect with him as a character outside the kink scenes. Regardless, he and Elliot are a total powder keg waiting to blow.

And blow (oo-er), they do! I am not, and never have been, a fan of Daddy kink. I usually find it off-putting, simply because I don’t connect with it. But I have a lot of trust in Jesse as an author, and this book shows that’s for damn good reason. While I still can’t say I fully “get it,” it was so obvious that the Daddy/boy relationship fulfilled deep needs for Elliot and Stuart, and were a critical piece of who they were. And though I may not get the Daddy piece, I fully get and adore a Dom/sub relationship and the punishment scenes in this book were absolutely fire! Y’all, there is so much spanking. Over the pants, bare, with hands, with specific implements, with whatever object is near to hand. It’s frequent and it is HAWT. Elliot’s need for pain and structure and love were palpable, and the spicy scenes that followed were intense in a way I found enthralling. In their relationship, these two communicated well with each other. Open communication is a plus, but this story was lacking a bit of the angst I was expecting based on the author’s prior works. The total care they had for one another was sweet, though. If you’re a fan of the tropes, I wholeheartedly recommend picking this up! I’m glad I followed my gut and gave it a try.

I received an advanced reader copy from the author and I am voluntarily leaving my review.

Derailed that’s what Elliot feels like, imagine living in a world where you feel there’s nobody who cares, nobody who takes an effort, nobody who really sees or wants you, who knows what you need. Even that deep yearning need for things he can’t bring himself to speak out.

And then there’s Stuart.

Stuart gives Elliot, his best friend’s son, a room for the next six months to regroup.

Elliot gives Stuart headaches, and unintentionally the boy screams for attention. After weeks of being patient, he had enough, more than enough. For god sake, he’s a Daddy, this has to end.
Stuart explains to Elliot what he can do for him, there are rules, and strict rules, if rules are not followed, there will be consequences, as in hand-smack-behind.
He offers him a Daddy arrangement.

“I swear to God, no one wears embarrassment better than Elliot Gould.”

So much pain, pain that makes Elliot cry, moan, centered, and happy and embrace it.
For Elliot it’s one big learning process, he’s determined to get what he wants, he wants Stuart!
He’s floating and I was with him, I felt it, it was all super intense.

What an awesome read! We get a thoroughly detailed look into both their minds and hearts, and it is so SO amazingly done. Every emotion, doubt, and decision, is expressed and so palpable.
Stuart and Elliot are just perfect for each other, they were a sight to behold!!
I enjoyed this story immensely!

One of my resolutions this year is not forcing myself to finish a book I'm not enjoying. I just think this one is not for me... I didn't connect with either MC and I'm not really into the story so far.

This series just keeps getting better. I did not want to put this book down once I started, intense in the very best way. It’s scorching hot, kinky fun and also so tender and sweet - I absolutely loved it.

Expect:
* Age gap
* Daddy/boy dynamic
* Lots of spanking and some impact play and a bit of a praise kink
* Found family
* Hurt comfort
* Dad’s best friend
* Opposites attract
* Forced proximity
* Longing and pining

Elliot is impulsive, sensitive, a bit of a hot mess with a big heart and he find himself staying with THE most together person he has ever come across. Stuart is still getting over a bad breakup, is quite set in his ways and is a through and through Daddy but Elliot is massively off limits to him in his for… reasons.

When they start living together because he’s supporting Elliot at a vulnerable time, Elliot’s brattiest self goes head to head and looses (wins😏) when Daddy steps in. However, Stuart is still adamant about keeping things platonic, fighting his attraction and Elliot is a lust filled powder keg ready to blow with how attracted he is to Stuart.

There is no way things don’t escalate between the two and god the chemistry is explosive with all the brattiness being spanked out & loads of teachable moments. What makes this even better is all the feelings that are developing between the two and it’s so sweet and touching in parts. It made me sprint across the emotional range from snickering to awwwing to tearing up. Also, did I mention the spanking scenes that are white hot and fantastic the build up and then the meltdown is sublime 🫠🫠.

The story flows beautifully around both of them evolving and finding what they need , hugely immersive with these heightened emotions and all that yummy push/pull and resistance that pulls you in and keeps you hooked all the way to an ecstatic HEA.

Jesse did such an awesome job with Gouldie’s story.

I’ve been so curious about him ever since he appeared in The Stepbro Situation.

I really liked how these two characters fit together.

Perfect amount of heat... 🔥🔥

Their nature and dynamics made them a perfect fit for each other. I really liked how it was all brought together... 💙🥰💙

Daddy kink in the sweetest way. Even if you don't like daddy kink, which I don't, this is totally a great book even without that. It's not that much of it but the focus of the relationship is very much so, an older 40 year old man who admits, he acts old and a 24 year old very young man who's his best friends son.

** If the score is ONE EMOJI that means little to none of whatever category/trope was present in the book.

Some books you devour and others you savor. The Daddy Arrangement is definitely one to be savored.

Jesse H Reign is a true marvel. I'm someone who usually guesses the plots and big reveals of books immediately. Yet she manages to keep me on my toes. She did it again in The Daddy Arrangement. She astonished me with this book. Even though she's repeatedly written books that are wholesomely sweet while containing exquisite smut, I'm shocked every time.

The Daddy Arrangement requires you to leave your preconceived notions at the door. This book was a pleasant surprise once I let go of who I thought Elliot "Gould" was and APPRECIATED WHO HE IS. I’ve read the first two books in the series so I went into this book with a certain image of Gould. I expected the book to be about a TOTAL BRAT but it wasn't. This caught me off guard in a great way. The book ended up being so much more than I was prepared for. Gould ultimately had internal depths and struggles that I was unaware of. This discovery made him so much more relatable to me.

I've come to realize my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE theme in books, especially romance books, is unconditional love. I delight in stories where characters find exactly what they need in their partners. I adore when that partner sees them for exactly who they are, recognizes their needs and then provides them that and loves them how they DESIRE to be LOVED.

For Gould that consists of a lot of things so I'll just name a few. He needs his ass whooped even though he spent his life feeling ashamed about the desire. He needs someone to be patient with him. He needs someone who listens when he speaks. Gould needs to feel like he matters.

This book feels longer than it was...not because it dragged but because it told a brilliant story in an organic way. The dynamic and ultimate relationship between Gould and Stuart doesn't feel rushed. You never feel like well that came out of nowhere. They have ample time to develop a relationship and to explore each facet of their dynamic and the way it evolves. We watch these strangers really get to know each other. They open up to each in ways they don't with anyone else. Gould has worn a public face all of his life. He gets to be his true self with Stuart though. He gets to be vulnerable with him in ways he's never allowed himself to be before. He recognizes the gift that having a safe space is. Also we, as the reader realize before he does that while he has brat tendencies...he's not a brat. Gould just needs someone to care for him and see past all the nonsense he puts out into the world. Gould needs the structure and discipline to thrive that Stuart is happy to provide. We get to see him come to terms with that and we all start to view him in a new light.

This book is a true love story and we get to travel on the journey with them as they go from strangers to friends with a deeper lasting connection and to finding their forever love.

You should say #FvckYourTBR and read The Daddy Arrangement this weekend because it's the swoony k!nk book you didn't know you needed in your life.

Elliot "Gould" is such a charming, broken boy trying to find his place in the world.

Stuart is a natural born caregiver who needs a boy to guide and help become the best version of himself while loving him exactly as he is.

Stories of unconditional love and acceptance are the real fairytales and this book is definitely that.
This book is a true love story, and we get to travel on the journey with them as they go from strangers to friends with a deeper lasting connection and lovers finding their forever person.
