In a Nutshell: The third book of the wonderful ‘Timeless’ series. Historical fiction with excellent research and intriguing timeslip elements that make you feel like you are reading two stories at once! Christian without feeling preachy. Strongly recommended! Though it can be read as a standalone, better to go in the right order and experience the brilliance of the entire series.

Plot Preview:
The first book of this series, “When the Day Comes”, entered my life in May 2022 and blew me away with its innovative premise and intelligent plotting. A year later came the second book, “In This Moment”, which was also fabulous but had a little too much romance and politics for my liking. This third book, a May 2024 release, takes the series back to the original high!
After two books about a timecrossing central character, I honestly believed that this third volume wouldn’t have much to surprise me with. After all, in how many ways can an author write about one person living two lives in two separate time periods? I openly declare: I was wrong!
Bookish Yays:
🥳 Again beginning by doffing a hat to the creativity of the series in terms of how its main characters get multiple simultaneous lives. Love this innovative premise!
🥳 A wonderful combo of historical fiction, timeslip, romance, and Christian fiction, but historical fiction is clearly the dominant genre.
🥳 The fresh feel of the plot despite being the third entry of the series. This book doesn't waste much time in introductions about the timecrossing, but jumps directly to the action.
🥳 The novelty of knowing right at the start which timeline the lead characters prefer. So the central conflict this time isn’t their decision over which life to choose but the challenges in their Salem lives until they can bid that era goodbye.
🥳 Grace and Hope are deserving main characters. As twins with contrasting personalities but with a strong bond, their interplay impacts the story as much as the external events do.
🥳 This series always has first-person writing, but for the first time, the first-person perspective is from two distinct characters. Each narration is well handled, as the twins’ individual personality comes out strongly through their voice.
🥳 Unlike in Book Two, the circumstances in the twins’ two lives are contrary to each other in almost every way. This makes each timeline feel distinct. The timelines aren’t politically intensive, so thankfully, I wasn’t affected by my limited knowledge of American politics.
🥳 The historical research is impeccable, further explained by the historical note at the end, detailing the author’s writing choices and the factual elements intermingled in the fictional content. Don’t miss reading her parting note as well.
🥳 The Salem timeline left me so uncomfortable! I’ve never seen this side of the witch trials portrayed, so reading that timeline felt quite claustrophobic at times, which is an indicator of how visceral the writing is. (Note that this timeline gets quite dark, so you better pick the book up when you are in a strong headspace.)
🥳 The aviation details in the 1912 timeline are equally stunning.
🥳 There is a romantic entanglement in both timelines (which is fine because this is marketed as a Christian historical romance), but this is focussed on only to the extent necessary. The love stories never overpower the core plot.
🥳 The Christian elements are exactly as I like them – focussing on Christian actions than on spouting biblical verses. The two timelines are quite opposites in faith, with dogmatism and rigidity being the hallmark of the Puritan era. The true test of faith is in times of trouble, and both the twins’ lives depict this well.
(Note: Conservative believers might not be happy with some of the content in this book. But as a liberal believer, I didn’t find anything offensive or awkward.)
🥳 The ending – practically perfect in how it ties all the arcs together, with a special guest appearance as well.
Bookish Mixed Bags:
😐 As there is only one way this story could end, there is a greater element of predictability this time. I still love how the plot proceeded, but I wish there had been some suspense about the final resolution.
😐 The tempo is slightly on the slower side, especially in the first half, but I don’t mind this much. The story merits a gentle-paced development because of how intricate the subplots were, and it still progresses steadily enough without dawdling or rambling.
😐 There are many interesting secondary characters, but because the two leads get so much coverage, the rest don’t get that much page space. Maggie and Graydon, the twins’ parents, also have a relatively limited role in the story they are barely there in the first half! Of the two romantic partners, Luc was good but Isaac was too goody-goody. I am not sure if his portrayal stands accurate to the era he lived in. (On an aside, I am also not sure how there was no eyebrow raised in either timeline about the girls interacting with men without any chaperone around. I thought this was a prerequisite in both those eras; I could be wrong about this.)
All in all, this series has mostly been a delight! The three books I’ve read so far have offered plenty of insights, introspection, and joy. As a historical fiction lover, I find it delightful that each book offers me more than one historical timeline to indulge in.
This time, the climax offers no direct clue about where the next book will go and whom it will focus on! But I know that it is already in the works, and set for a November 2024 release. Only a six-month wait this time – woohoo!!! (There is an excerpt of Book Four, “Across the Ages”, provided at the end of this one, but I never read excerpts. I’d rather experience the whole story fresh and at one go.)
Heartily recommending this to all historical fiction lovers who don’t mind mild Christian content in the writing. With its intricate plotting and exceptional historical research, ‘Timeless’ is one of my favourite series. While each book functions as a standalone, I’d recommend reading the series in order so as to avoid spoilers about the earlier novels.

For A Lifetime by Gabrielle Meyer (Book 3 in the Timeless Series) 5 Stars
If I could give this book 10 stars, I would. This series has been absolutely phenomenal. The faith, characters, time travel level of detail and explanations - SOLID. This book is hard to review without spoilers so I will be brief - but all I can say is, this is *hands down* the best Christian Fiction series of all time for me. Nothing compares. If you know me, you know I am constantly recommending this series. From the moment I read book 1, I knew this series was going to be significant in my reading journey. Thank you Gabrielle for these stories. They mean the world.
This book signifies God's plan is truly the best one for us. It reminds us over and over how good His plan really is. He gives us His Grace to go through things and we have the Hope of Christ through every circumstance. It's no mistake these twin sisters have the names, Grace and Hope. I love the significance of their names in this story. Both sisters are relatable in their emotions and what they endure.
For context, we are in two timelines for this time travel story between two twin sisters. They are time crossers between 1692 Salem, Massachusetts during the Salem Witch Trials and 1912 New York. By the end of a certain birthday, they have to decide which timeline they want to live in for the rest of their lives. I thought I knew where things were going fully, but there were so many twists and turns throughout the story that completely blew me away.
The sister relationship was so moving. I loved how sacrificial they were for one another. As a sister to my younger brother, it was very relatable for me. I also loved Luc and Isaac. Both of their characters were top notch and the prayers and support they had for each sister was beautiful.
I am so glad I buddy read this book with 4 other lovely ladies because I truly believe this series should be read with others as we all had so many beautiful moments of tears and sharing how this story touched our hearts and what each of us were going through in those moments of our lives.
I recommend taking your time with this story as you read to fully immerse yourself in the story and process through all of the beauty this story has to offer.
I cannot wait for the next book to release this November! Highly recommend this series. Favorite of all time.

Absolutely AMAZING!! Grace and Hope are twins that have two lives. One life is in 1692 Salem during the witch trials. The other life is in 1912, where Grace is a journalist and Hope is a female pilot. In both timelines big things are happening. In 1912, Hope is wanting to become the first female pilot to fly across the English Channel. She also is in love with Luc, who is also a pilot. Grace comes along with Hope and Luc to write about the event. In 1692 the witch trials have begun, and Grace and Hope are hoping they will not be accused. To make matters worse, they learn some disturbing news surrounding their mother's death and get a new stepmother who is not kind and younger than them. Grace is in love with Isaac in 1692. And I will leave it at that to not give away any more information or accidental spoilers.
Like I said, this story is incredible. I predicted what would happen, a little, but there were multiple things I didn't see coming and my mouth dropped several times. I don’t know how the author always comes up with new surprises. I loved both Grace and Hope so much! They are both very strong and brave women. I loved the Christian content in this story! “It’s important to be honest with ourselves so we know who we are and who we are not. Only then do we become the best version of ourselves.”
Dare I say that this was the best of the three wonderful Timeless stories?
I’m not surprised seeing as I loved Graydon and Maggie Cooper from In This Moment (book 2). The twins in For A Lifetime (book 3), Hope and Grace Eaton, are Graydon and Maggie’s girls. Each girl was born with a mark on the back of her head which allows her to time travel between 1912 and 1692.
This was a particularly interesting book for me because I knew very little about (1) Salem Village and the witch trials and (3) the views of the Puritans and Quakers and the differences between them. My heart ached to hear about how the strict Puritan laws affected those being raised in this way and how, according to one character, this harsh lifestyle “only taught me how to hide my sinful heart and defy my elders. It had made me afraid to do the wrong thing instead of longing to do the right thing.” It made me glad to see that she was brought to the place where she questioned the Puritans’ God of strict rules and regulations and compared Him with the God of her parents who offered grace and mercy.
The sections featuring the American aviatrix made my historical fiction-loving heart happy and the swoon-worthy utterances of Lucas Voland made me weak at the knees!
This book may be about risks and sacrifice, but it’s also about:

✔️Sacrificial love
✔️Brokenness and how we choose to respond

How far can Gabrielle Meyer go before my heart is completely shattered?
This book deserves all the stars and more. At least 6 if not 10⭐. The whole series is 10 stars and probably my favorite of all time. The author does such a fantastic job at conveying the emotions of her characters and making such unique settings for each of these time travel timelines.
I couldn't put it down, I actually finished it within 24hrs. Very rarely do I enjoy a book to this extent.

For a Lifetime is an intriguing tale of time travel, romance, and history. A fascinating story about twin sisters born with the ability to time-cross and their strong bond to stay together no matter what.
The story revolves around twin sisters named Grace and Hope. It is narrated from the perspectives of both sisters as they face the challenge of choosing which timeline to stay in once they turn 25. The two timelines in question are the Salem witch trials of 1692 and the year 1912 in New York, where Grace works as a journalist, while Hope aspires to become one of the first female pilots in America.
"Life is full of twists and turns. We can't always predict which way it will go, but it's a magnificent journey when we let it take us where it wants."

This captivating and unpredictable story will leave you amazed, spellbound, and a little heartbroken with all the historical elements. It is well-written, well-researched, and fast-paced, although it starts a little slow. The twists and turns are well-placed. And the romance is so sweet. The events happening in both timelines during 1692 were a scary and dark time, with injustice, helplessness, and historical prejudice surrounding the Salem Witch Trials. The year 1912 was interesting with the beginning of modern aviation.
What I loved most was the character development, their personal growth, the uniqueness of the story, the time travel element, our characters, and the faith content throughout and who they were destined to be. Learning about the woman Hope was based on in the historical notes was fun. I highly recommend reading previous books in the series, because they are exciting, romantic, and emotional.

This captivating and unpredictable story will leave you amazed, spellbound, and a little heartbroken with all the historical elements. It is well-written, well-researched, and fast-paced, although it starts a little slow. The twists and turns are well-placed. And the romance is so sweet. The events happening in both timelines during 1692 were a scary and dark time, with injustice, helplessness, and historical prejudice surrounding the Salem Witch Trials. The year 1912 was interesting with the beginning of modern aviation.
What I loved most was the character development, their personal growth, the uniqueness of the story, the time travel element, our characters, and the faith content throughout and who they were destined to be. Learning about the woman Hope was based on in the historical notes was fun. I highly recommend reading previous books in the series, because they are exciting, romantic, and emotional.

Based on the previous 2 books of the series, I knew going into this that this book would be a wild ride filled with faith, and Gabrielle Meyer did not disappoint, in fact she exceeded expectations.
For a Lifetime is an excellent addition to a 5-star series. Gabrielle Meyer undoubtedly has God-gifted talent for storytelling--no one quite does it like her: the way she weaves together the tme crossing components, the historical elements, the complex characters, the twists and turns, and the FAITH is like none other. You can tell that this author does her homework to create as much historical accuracy in her stories as possible; I learned so much about the tragic time of the Salem witch trials in particular.
As I mentioned before, the faith contained within the pages is breathtaking: from 2 faith-filled male romantic interests to the meanings behind Hope and Grace's names to the lessons that God is faith and His plan is better than anything. I can pretty much guarantee that this book will minister to you in some way, if you let it.

Oh me, oh my! This Timeless series is hitting in all of the right spots.
First off, the history was FASCINATING. I found myself researching in addition to reading because Meyer's writing hit deep into my history loving soul and she really expounded on historical elements that I didn't know about. It was like a deep dive into elements while still letting the story tell itself.
The characters! I was so intrigued how this storyline would work with twins. It worked, and worked SO WELL! Yes, I'm bringing out the caps throughout this review because this book (and series) deserve all the caps! I loved the contrast in characters. I loved watching them learn and grow and become who they were destined to be.
The feels. There are all of the feels in this book. Some moments took my breath away, some buoyed me up and some absolutely gutted me. I loved the anticipation that continued to build throughout the entire story. There were so many times I couldn't turn the pages fast enough because I HAD TO KNOW how this book would end! The twists and turns were oh so good and so well placed. And the romance was so sweet and tender!

These books STRESS ME OUT (in the best way of course). Meyer has a way of dropping little suspense bombs 5 pages into the book, leaving you reading through your fingers while holding the book at arms length and yet unable to put it down until you know what happened.
The third in the Timeless series, this book follows twins and timeslippers Grace and Hope through their life in 1912 where they fly planes and write news articles and 1692 where they…uh…live in Salem Massachusetts. And someone overhears them talking about flying. It’s not good. And I was STRESSED OUT.

WOW - how does one even BEGIN to review this masterpiece of a novel?! I have been a fan of this series since the very first book, and now I hope it never ends! The possibilities of timelines for time-crossers to experience seems infinite, and I just hope we get at least one more past the 4th book that's on the heels of this book - For a Lifetime.
It's so hard to review this book without giving spoilers, but I shall endeavor to do my best! First and foremost, Gabrielle has woven two incredibly exciting eras of history - the Salem Witch Trials occurring in 1692 alongside the introduction of female aviators in 1912. If you know 1912, you also know that the maiden voyage and subsequent sinking of the Titanic occurs then, too, and it is included in the storyline (that's all I will say about that!). While I have yet to research female aviators since finishing (on the to-do list!), I have started reading more about Puritan Massachusetts, the Quakers, and the real truth about the Salem Witch Trials that I have woefully misunderstood up to this point. While there's nothing overtly gory described in the book, there's no question that the results of the Trials were painful to read. It is hard not to draw a comparison between how people were easily influenced by the mainstream then vs. now, and discernment is harder to come by than it should be.
Second, I didn't think Gabrielle could top the romantic tension from book two, but it is OVERFLOWING in For a Lifetime! Isaac and Luc are the male counterparts to Hope and Grace, and until I read the very last page, I honestly had zero clue how these relationships would end. One minute, I thought I had figured it out, but the next chapter would have me guessing once again. Pure agony, but the good kind!
Third, it's hard not to notice the spiritual themes in this story, and I'm so thankful for authors that do not shy away from that. God's purpose for our lives, forgiveness, extending mercy to those who need it most - each one flowed through this story as easily as a breath.
While I could certainly go on and on and risk spoiling all the great things about this story, I will leave you with this - just get your hands on this book. Not just this one, but the whole series. You will scarcely find time to do anything else because they are all that engrossing. And then when you finish, you won't be able to stop yourself from telling everyone you know HOW GOOD THEY ARE like I have (hopefully) done just now!
Here's hoping that this author and publisher keep this series going for as long as possible!

I continue to be in absolute awe of Gabrielle Meyer’s brilliance in crafting this beautiful series! This story is told in dual perspectives of twin sisters Grace and Hope who live in 1692 and 1912. In the same manner as the two previous novels in the series, Grace and Hope are time crossers who must decide which timeline to remain in when they turn 25.
I could not put this book down and was truly riveted by the suspense and surprising twists. The romance is beautiful and Meyer truly captured the special bond of sisters in a profound way. It’s the sacrificial, selfless love of Grace and Hope that really spoke to me.
In today’s sermon at my church we focused on part of Paul’s message to the Philippians that they would live lives worthy of the gospel of Christ. We are told that in this life we are to take up our crosses and follow Jesus, dying to self, and living for Him alone. In this life we WILL have trouble, but we can take heart for He has overcome the world. I was reminded of a choice that one of the twins has to make in For a Lifetime, in which she faces death if she speaks truth. Meyer’s ability to convey the gospel through her fiction is truly remarkable.
This book is a captivating work of art and I would love to press it into the hands of every reader I know. This is a must read!

I’m absolutely obsessed with this writer and her Timeless series! I couldn’t believe I got an advanced copy of her new book, thanks to Netgalley, last week!
This book centers on twins with the gift that is passed on from their family. I love the history that was very well researched. I have definitely heard of the Salem Witch Trials but this story puts you in the middle of it and how everyone wonders if they will be accused or afflicted next. If you want a good book then definitely put this on your TBR! Releasing on May 7th 2024.

Wow, what a ride! I've read each book in the Timeless series, and I have to say, this was by far my favorite. I remember sitting down to read and thinking, "Oh, I'll just read a few chapters and then get back to working." And then a certain plot twist hit, and I thought, "Yeah, there's no way I'm getting back to work." *proceeds to keep reading*
I think one of the toughest parts about writing a time-travel series that follows a similiar(ish) plot is keeping each book distinct without recycling the storylines. The author has managed to not only keep each book distinct but to keep me on my toes, and not to mention, on the edge of my seat.
Two sisters. Two timelines. Two choices. The Salem Witch Trials of 1692 or early aviation in 1912 New York City?
The cost of choosing one over the other? High. Not to mention, irreversible.
If you enjoy books with high stakes, clean romance, suspense, faith, and a touching sister bond, you don't want to miss For a Lifetime.

I have one word for this book.
Fantabulous! I loved every minute of it.
I loved both girls' experience and I definitely loved both timelines.
These two timelines are just awesome. The events in 1692 were very scary and ridiculous at the same time, if that's possible. You couldn't sneeze without someone accusing you of something.
I didn't and still don't like those girls to this day.
They were like the popular girls of high school in today's times. If they didn't like you or get their way, there was trouble that didn't seem fair at all.
Betty and Abigail were the worst.
I loved Hope's personality. Very energetic and outgoing. She didn't seem afraid of anything, which I very much admired. I wish I was more like her.
I was very much pulled in from the beginning until the end of this wonderful story.
Here's a quote that was my favorite
Time was a gift—one of the greatest we would ever be given— and I wouldn't take it for granted.
There were a few places that I was absolutely appalled and even cried because of these events in 1692.

Hope and Grace are twins that are from a long line of time crossers. The exist in two times. They are in Puritan Salem and in 1912. They have a plan, on their 25th birthday they will decide to stay in 1912. Will they maintain their plan as they navigate the last few months before their birthday?
I have no words to really express my feelings on this book. I finished it yesterday but have been meditating on it. This book is off the charts good. I gave book 1 five stars and four stars to book 2. This book would be more than five stars if that were possible. Gabrielle Meyer is a talented writer. Just when the reader thinks she knows what is going to happen, a plot twist happens. This happens all throughout the book. The faith content is topline as well. This book illustrates that God knows us better than we know ourselves and he has our best interest in mind.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a great Christian Fiction story. However, if the fantastical element of time crossing bothers you then you this would not be the book I recommend to you.

Another absolutely incredible time-travel book by this author.
After I finished the previous book in the series and saw her next book would feature twin daughters, I was so excited to see how this would play out. The times featured here are 1692 and 1912. Now the girls are able to go to sleep-in one-time period and wake up in the other time period without any time having passed.
In 1692 they live and work in their father's tavern. It is the time of the Salem Witch trials, mass hysteria, afflicted citizens. Who can you trust? I found the information about the Salem witch trials informative and fascinating and as coincidence may have it, I was just in Salem this past October and found out a lot of fascinating historical information about this time period.
In 1912 as times are more progressive one of the twins is a journalist and the other aspires to become the first female pilot in America.
I loved seeing the growth the girls go through, each has a love interest in a different time period and has established such an important bond with people and events in this time period.
The girls have promised each other to be together forever but when an unimaginable tragedy happens how will this affect their future? The pacing of the story felt right, the characters kept my attention with excitement. I enjoyed reading the alternating viewpoints of the girls and seeing how they came to the conclusions they have.

I couldn't wait to read this book and continue the Timeless series! Book 1 is one of my all-time favorite fiction books. Book 2 was great as well!
Book 3, For A Lifetime, was a little too anxiety-inducing for me personally with the Salem (as in Salem Witch Trials) timeline.
I did appreciate how each character's' faith matured and the emphasis on deepening your fellowship with the Lord. Also, seeing Maggie again was fun, and I really enjoyed the connection to Libby from book 1.
The story was engaging and well-written, and I am POSITIVE a ton of people will love this book, but I'm at a point in my life where I don't seek darker-themed fiction because it unsettles me. But I will definitely be continuing with the series when Book 4, Across the Ages, is released in November. There was a lot to like about this book. As usual, Ms. Meyer has an engaging writing style that pulls you into the story immediately.
As someone who has watched almost all of the Salem Witch trial documentaries and movies, I already knew most of what was happening in that timeline. It was sobering watching it play out and how helpless people were to change things.
The aviation storyline in 1912 was interesting, but what I loved most about the book was the sisters' faith journey as they learned that God works all things for His glory, even when His plans are not our own. The romance was sweet and made me a bit anxious a few times seeing how it was going to play out.
The book was an interesting, fast-paced read with sweet romance, and had wonderful character development and personal growth in their faith.

The romance was sweet and made me a bit anxious a few times seeing how it was going to play out.
The book was an interesting, fast-paced read with sweet romance, and had wonderful character development and personal growth in their faith.

Why doesn't Goodreads make a button for like 10 stars? This book in one word: MINDBLOWING!!! I read this as much as possible until the end, but now I wish there was more to read!! Guess I'll just have to wait for books 4 & 5! There is so much AWEsomeness in this book so bear with me as I ramble and try to remember all of it. 🙃 Firstly, I had no idea of the horrendous events of the Salem Witch Trials, and I was so stunned by the events and thankful that this book enlightened me. Then, I related so much to the sisterly dynamic between Grace and Hope. My sister and I are not twins, but in all other aspects I was Grace in this story, and I saw so much of my sister in Hope (down to Hope's fascination with aviation and her passion for flying and her hopes of being a pilot.) In short, it totally rocked. Another thing that added to my enjoyment of this was the powerful devotion and faith of Isaac and Luc. Especially the things Luc said about God?!..swoon. 😋 The faith elements in general were just so so good. I was reminded with the characters that God may not always give us what we want, but His plans are always EXCEEDINGLY greater even when life looks upside down. The cliffhanger elements were riveting, and all of the clever elements, including a character crossover from book 1 👀, never ceased to blow me away. This book, like the other books in this series, are truly once in a lifetime reads, with outstanding faith, one of a kind plots, stellar research, and the best characters. If you have yet to decide to read this series, here's your sign: get your hands on them ASAP; you won't regret it.

Grace and Hope Eaton are twins with different personalities. But their bond is so strong that they vow to stay together no matter what. Living in two different times is extremely difficult because in one timeframe they live in Salem Village in 1692 during the witch trials. They get a respite in the other timeline in 1912 where Hope is adventurous and learns to fly an airplane, while Grace makes strides as a journalist for a New York newspaper.
Their love lives are problematic as each one pines for a man who does not return their affections. But how can they marry before their 25th birthday, when they are to choose which time period to remain in for the rest of their days?
Lots of twists, turns and danger await them as well as unexpected meetings with people who are connected to them. And underlying it all is an abiding faith that knows God is in control of their lives.
This was another fascinating offering in a unique time-crossing setting that will astonish you and at the same time take you captive with its imaginative storylines.

Y’all. I can’t even say anything coherent right now. I’m in total book hangover mode. WOW. What a fabulous follow-up to the first two books in this series, and a STUNNINGLY GREAT novel on its own merit.
After I read When the Day Comes, with one young woman crossing between two very different time periods and having to ultimately choose between one, I worried a little about how Meyer could possibly top such a masterful novel. And then I read In This Moment, with one young woman crossing between THREE time periods, and I knew I shouldn’t have been even the slightest bit concerned. Because it was even better than masterful – just absolutely amazing in every way. And now For a Lifetime has surpassed them both, with TWINS crossing between two time periods, and while I am quite happily calling the author a genius I’m still not sure it’s even the best word to do justice to her incredible plotting skills. I know, I know. I’m being as incoherent as I feared I would be but y’all… this series is truly a masterpiece and with each new addition the layers get more complex and the emotions run even higher and I am completely engrossed in every word.
There’s a lot I want to gush about… but I want to be super careful about spoilers. The two timelines that Grace and Hope cross between together were equally fascinating to me, but for different reasons. I probably don’t have to tell you why being in Salem in 1692 was compelling – most people have heard of the infamous Salem Witch Trials – but it wasn’t something I had studied beyond the little I was taught in school. As I read these scenes, I felt the heaviness that Grace & Hope experienced there, despite the bright light of people like handsome Isaac. And I was horrified at the fear-driven hysteria and how easily manipulated the people were, something that paralleled our current culture alarmingly well. In their 1912 path, the twins are what feels like a world away from the oppressive weight of 1692 – Females breaking barriers as journalists and aviators, the United States in its grand Progressive Era where innovations and modernizations are happening with increasing alacrity, swoony French flight instructor/stunt pilot Luc, and the presence of the girls’ parents (the subjects of book 2) all made this timeline a breath of fresh air. Until it wasn’t… until the layers in 1912 became just as (if not more) stunningly complex as the ones in 1692. And that’s I’m all going to say about that… except to add that this is the moment this book truly became my fave of the series (so far) and I could not have torn myself away if I had wanted to.
Bottom Line: I love everything about this series and about For a Lifetime. Gabrielle Meyer is truly a genius at creating fresh and captivating storylines that align the fictional concept of time crossing with a deep exploration of faith and history like I’ve never encountered before. Knowing that they each have to choose a timeline before their 25th birthday kept me on pins and needles – and with tears in my eyes – the closer we got to that date because any of the choices seemed impossible to make. I loved Grace and Hope (and though I felt more of a kinship with Grace, my family would probably say I was more like Hope haha). I was fully immersed in their stories, with all the complications and emotions and losses and gains involved. A million little writing choices on the part of the author reinforced my belief that she is just brilliant, and I am impatiently waiting for book 4 now – is it November yet?!?!?

Gabrielle Meyer’s Timeless series is one of the most beautiful, intriguing, touching sequences of stories that I’ve read. This is Book 3 (and while I feel they can stand alone, they’re better enjoyed in order) and I was immersed into the dual timelines of early aviation in 1912 and the beginnings of the Salem Witch Trials in 1692.
As a girl who dreamed of being an astronaut and who also had a chance to visit Salem in the autumn of 2022, I was deeply touched by Hope’s and Grace’s experiences. Yes, they are twins. Each night when they go to sleep, they wake up in the other time period, with no time passing. Since I don’t want to give any spoilers, I will say that reading more about the Salem period was heart-wrenching. When my sisters, mom, and I visited, it was in October and as added to the Author’s Notes, this charming town is sensationalized. But as we read accounts and stories, giving ourselves a walking tour, it felt slightly eerie to walk where these people walked and to know how horrifying this bit of history was.
This author never ceases to amaze me with her writing style and ability to connect the reader with the characters and I will forever devour her works. The longing and emotion were authentic and caught my heart and soul.
