High Roller Omegas #1

Queen of Clubs

Rate this book
My whole life, there was never a place I called my home.

Because home wasn’t a place to me, it was a person. Three people to be exact. Everett, Griffin and Zane. Three boys who always protected me against the harsh reality of our world. That is, until they aged out of the system before me.

All the promises that were made were then broken. They left me behind and made a name for themselves as rock stars and never looking back.

The next few years left me broken and closed off until it was my turn to leave. I had nothing and nowhere to go. That was until I found High Roller omegas.

For years, I’ve worked there, found a new home within the walls of the building itself and the girls that worked there.

I was doing fine, happy enough. Until one night, the three people I never thought I’d see again come in for a little bit of fun. All alphas now.

They’re shocked to see me, to find out the omega I’ve become.

Now that I’m back in their life, they won’t let me go and somehow manage to convince me to go on tour with them.

And I’m about to find out just how not perfect their life is because life isn’t meant to be sex, drugs and rock N roll.

This is a stand alone in the shared High Roller Omegaverse which can be read in any order

I think some of the choices were too heavy for this kind of story. Certain things should not be used for shock factor or to show how bad someone is. Especially when they don’t handle the situation how it should be handled. Instead they acted like it was some guy stealing when it is much more serious than that. (Spoiler and tw but I need to stress how bad these choices were: they decided to let young girls suffer in the worst way possible just so they had time to plan out how to make this guy suffer. Instead of stopping an evil man who was still doing all these terrible things, they focused on their own issues with him and almost dismissed all the girls that have been and would be hurt by him). On top of it all, this was thrown in the story but had absolutely no impact to the plot whatsoever. It was so unnecessary. This was the worst instance but there are dozens of times darker themes were used for shock factor littered throughout the book. It felt very lazy and offensive to use such serious topics but not take the care needed when these topics are used.

Also these guys acting like they could kill someone without blinking is so out of place. Honestly, they just come off as these goofy guys enjoying the fame without any sort of darker side to back up these claims. I think that’s a similar theme throughout the story. There’s no real rhyme or reason behind how these characters act. There were a few other things I personally didn’t like about this book but it seems silly to complain about lack of depth, development or connection, unrealistic motives and actions, and over the top, immature, superficial characters when there is a much more serious issue that I had to address.

At first it was a silly but entertaining read but as I said, the silly, nonsensical choices became less entertaining and more uncomfortable, too much, and honestly, upsetting. They weren’t needed and there are so many better ways to move the plot forward. Even if they were cut from the book, I would still only give this a 1 star rating because of everything else I did not like about this book. Check tw before jumping into this one.

I just didn't vibe with this one. The guys, especially Zane, felt over the top dramatic and it kind of just killed the whole story for me.

Shes so mad at them for abandoning her and then they stick a needle in her neck and kidnap her and she goes all swoony? Just gross.

The way I read this in less than a day? I was HOOKED.

Rockstar meets omegaverse why choose meets slowburn goodness. Add in childhood friends to lovers, second chance, and some possessive men? Ugh, fantastic.

Basically, FMC is a foster kid, grew up with three guys she ends up loving. They age out before her, leave to LA to pursue music, and promise to come back for her after she ages out. Two years go by. Radio silence. FMC runs away her 18th birthday, heart broken, and finds herself working at High Roller. She only has one client, a hunky alpha who's starting to get attached to her, but one day, the three alphas of her past are at her workplace. In comes a kidnapping and revealed relationships and shenanigans.

This was so freaking entertaining. I don't know what the author put in this but I couldn't put it down. There's MM/MMM action, two of the four guys are ACTUALLY HALF BROTHERS, and by the end they scheme with each other and it's great, and I genuinely enjoyed it so much.

My main gripe is the third act conflict and how there was just a touch too much yelling, but everything else was super fun. Would definitely recommend this one for a good time!

It was a pretty standard concept, nothing groundbreaking for an omegaverse. I was mostly entertained, but I ended up skimming a lot of this. I had trouble connecting with the characters because they felt one-dimensional.

My biggest issue was the way they handled Gianna’s character. I knew she was going to be the driving force behind the split from the moment her name was first mentioned, and while the plain internalized misogyny would have been somewhat boring and overdone I do think that still would have been better than what happened. Choosing to present her as a victim of Zane and Calvin’s father is one thing, but there was no care or consideration given to that plot line. She confesses and then is immediately killed and they’re all still referring to her as obsessed and crazy. Calvin even has a moment in the narration where he thinks “I was going to suggest getting her mental help, but shooting her is just as good.” Like what the actual fuck.

And I just feel like this book was too glib in general considering topics like trafficking, murder, and childhood sexual assault were included. Those things didn’t really improve or alter the plot, so it feels like lazy writing to fall back on them for shock/interest.

Jade isn’t a mafia princess in hiding or on the run from a cruel alpha. No, Jade ended up at the High Roller Club the way most omegas probably do: She didn’t a safe place to go or anyone to turn to and at least at the High Roller she had choices, safety, and money of her own. She doesn’t take on clients (except one that comes around every now and again that she just couldn’t say no to), she just serves drinks and dances. She loves the club, her co-workers, and her job. They are the family who filled in most of the hole left behind when her foster siblings (and alphas she fell in love with) forgot all about her after they left her behind to become huge rock stars.

Only, nothing is as it seems, as both Jade and the three alphas who stole her heart when she was a teenager find out during a chance run-in at the High Roller one night. It seems like someone conspired to keep them apart. But who?

I’m not going to lie, this book isn’t really what I thought it would be. It’s not truly friends to lovers, in my opinion: it’s closer to a second chance romance. There’s not really an age gap except with one character. And as for slow burn? Yeah, I don’t even classify this book as a slow burn and I don’t like waiting long for my spicy scenes to begin.

What does this book have for us? Two possessive, more than a little unhinged alphas (which is a trope I love), an omega who is more than a little turned on by that (which I love), and an established all-male alpha triad within the pack that is hotter than hot throughout the book.

There are weak spots in the plot and execution, but the story itself is solid. I loved the book as a whole and the spice is so nice. A solid read.

I was provided a copy of this title by the author. All thoughts, opinions, views, and ideas expressed herein are mine and mine alone. Thank you.

This was a crazy ride. It felt very different than the other 3 in the series. Rockstar is not usually a trope that I love but the combination here worked really well, childhood friends to rekindled love amazing. There were great twists here… but things got a little crazy to the end. A little too much for what the first half of the book was if you ask me but i really enjoyed it.

So the alpha being more omega than the ACTUAL omega 🙄. Once more, IT IS OKAY TO JUST WRITE MM. Do not force yourself to write stories with MFMM where it feels like the women value to the relationship is to give birth.

I was so excited to read Jade’s story after getting small glimpses of her in Queen of Hearts.
Jade is an omega who grew up in foster care with her three best friends. Those three best friends who ended up being alpha rockstars that left Jade behind. But, things are not what they seem. There were so many twist and turns with a few surprises…. I loved it!

DNF @ 38%

Tropes - omegaverse, musicians, taboo - foster siblings, why choose, friends to enemies to lovers, slow burn, scent matches, insta love, possessive, jealous, age gap, forced proximity, millionaires, one bed

Unfortunately, this one wasn't for me. The MMCs get separated from the FMC as they age out of the system before her and they had all of these plans to be together and form a pack whether regardless of the FMCs designation. When they do finally find each other again, they find out there were forces working against them and someone had sabotaged them.

Zane (MMC) was very possessive and, to me, in a way that came across as childish and dramatic, not hot and I was soooooo over his character; it was truly embarrassing. Things were being dragged out for what I thought was no reason especially as it pertains to the scent matches, I searched through the ebook and (spoiler) and I just thought that was dumb and would be against their nature.

tl;dr i don't have time for this 😬😬😬

4.5 (rock)⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨️

Gotta say i was not expecting a Rockstar romance omegaverse but I'm certainly not disappointed. I ate this book up. 🤣

Jade met her guys in foster care years ago. Only problem was they were older and aged out faster. Promising to keep in touch and come for her when she turned 18. Other ppl had different, more sinister ideas. 😡

But.. her scent match found her working in Las Vegas and begins courting her(secretly). She's unaware of the connection. Then.. what do you know? Her guys show up. But there's been a huge misunderstanding. (Sabotage!) 😭😭

Some light kidnapping and a ton of surprises that seem never ending, a murder plot, an evil daddy.. ha. It's omegaverse! What do you expect!? I love it.

I think Calvin is my favorite. Don't come for me! 🙈

If you love omega and alpha stories you will enjoy this one. Jade, Zane, Everett, and Griffin were raise in the same awful foster home. The boys aged out before Jade and had the leave her behind. They promised to stay in touch but after time the communication stopped. Jade was hurt, scared, stressed, and distraught. When she turned eighteen and found out she was an omega-she got out of that foster home. Jade found a workplaces that treated omegas with respect. Jade met a new male friend and didn’t know that her life as she knew it was going to change. I felt she handled the changes very well and made sure things moved at the pace she wanted it too. Plenty of sexy times.

One thing this author is gonna do is write a good freaking book. She made me fall for every single main character.

Second chance romance is usually a hit or miss for me and this one was definitely a hit. From the beginning I knew how much these characters loved each other and they made it super easy for me to root for them.

This book was filled with spice like sooo much. Definitely be careful reading it in front of people 😭. Even watching them get protective and jealous over each other was hot as hell. It also had a very good amount of really sweet moments between them all.

I think one of my favorite parts was seeing Zane and Calvin finally sit and talk and have a good relationship that siblings should have.

The story was perfect. It had spice, sweet moments, grovel literally everything you could want.

At least 2, and to an extent all 4, of her alphas were assholes who don’t respect her bodily autonomy. They started out by drugging and kidnapping her rather than persuading her to go with them. Then later they tampered with her suppressants / birth control rather than discussing stopping them with her. It’s ironic because
1. Both of these circumstances were SO UNNECESSARY— she would have absolutely come with them in a day or so, and they had already had a conversation about starting a family
And
2. They lose their minds (apparently) about other people threatening to hurt her, to the tune of assault and murder.

Look, assholes, you are treating her like shit and following the abuser’s playbook. I hate “romance” novels that glorify abuse.

This girl has been abused by so many people, she doesn’t need it from her pack, too.

I have read and enjoyed other books by this author, which is why I finished it. I kinda regret doing so.

I mean wow….. I’ve read 2/4 of the High Roller Series and they are both amazing. The FMC is strong and vulnerable. And the MMCs…. Geez I loved the love. The epilogues were a great way to see the HEA for these characters.

Loved it

Ahh I always love reading Alisha’s books and this is no exception. I’ve read a few lackluster omegaverse books recently so this was such a breath of fresh air. Jade and her crew were marvelous and I loved getting to know them. I’m excited to read about the other ladies of High Roller Omegas and finding some new favourite authors.

What a roller coaster ride you can’t help but to laugh and cry so be prepared. I loved the way the story had to pull you in and feel for the fmc but finding out the secrets and love that’s given in this story was amazing. You love how crazy and in love the mmcs are for their omega even before as they meet as foster children to losing and finding that love again is the most vital part of the story but you also have kidnapping’s stalking and questions that you get answered among the way all I can say is get the tissues handy and to fall in hate and love the characters.

DNF @ 56%. Multiple issues with the book:

Characters are bland.

The same dialogue is used over and over again about her being theirs and her “fighting” back.

Random dark themes that had no place in the storyline and just showing up.

I’m sure there’s more, but that’s what sticks out the most.

No thanks

Maybe, I expect too much. For instance, like alphas who want or desire an omega just a bit more than they want each other. Love is love, is okay within a pack and a male /female omega as they hold the same place in a pack but when the alphas are having more sex between each other and one is more omega than alpha and more omega than the omega herself, what's the point? We have the basic story of childhood sweethearts, growing up with slight trauma, foster care etc....once again, once I started reading of how they were kept apart, anyone within the sound of my voice knew Gianna had something to do with it. Funny enough, I knew for some reason so did Zane's father. My assumption that was wrong was that maybe Calvin was involved so that was one pleasant surprise to see he wasn't a bad guy. When he mentioned the scent match first and implied for her to keep taking the drops I assumed he didn't want her to know she was theirs also (and he knew who she was 6 months prior-so that was where the bad guy thoughts stepped in). What I can't understand is why not tell her straight away she was their scent match also. It might have been easier to build the trust knowing they couldn't hurt her being they were her's also. What really takes the cake is Everett, still needs sex to balance himself out. When the other two alphas are okay once they have their omega to let their addictions go. Everett, even admits he's more omega than Jade. He was more of the focus during her heat by his alpha boyfriends (which the book could not stop addressing), even Calvin found that strange enough to comment on it within his inner monologue. Calvin, even makes the comment of them being gay and horny teenage boys to which the alphas in return all respond with," bi", because of their flirting and overt sexual behaviour towards one another it truly seems like they are just into each other. I just don't understand why all these authors are so obsessed with pushing the boundaries of what an omega means to a pack. Embracing change is like an alpha being okay with their omega dancing or working at an omega sex club while the world knows this, but to have her only truly be the focus of ONE alpha out of four just seems so wrong. During Jade's heat while she's with Zane he had to instruct Griffen and Everett to look at her because in Jade's own words, Griffen looked at where he was connected to Everett like it was the best thing in the world he's ever seen. Does that sound like men interested in their omega? Men who were sharing their first heat with an omega and their scent matched omega? The ending seemed rushed especially since we don't meet the father or truly know what happened with why he did the things he did besides being a sick man. What of Gianna's family who were partners or friend's with Zane's and his Calvin's father. Does Everett finally turn into an omega...(I was waiting for that twist)lol...? Does Jade realise, she might not be needed except for childbirth and to be besties??? If you didn't pick up on it yet, This book did not do it for me at all but I will keep patiently waiting and reading with great expectations for what's around the next nook.

Another great read from Williams, which combines a few of my favourite tropes - rockstar romance, omegaverse, why choose with plenty of sword crossing, and second chance romance. The story of Jade and her Alphas had me hooked, and I loved reading as their rollercoaster of a life unfolded in the pages.

Jade's (and Zane, Everett and Griffin's) past is riddled with pain and heartbreak, but a chance meeting years down the track bring them back together. From page one, I was hopeful that Jade would get her happily ever after. I'm so glad that she did, even despite some surprising twists and turns through the book. Reading her growth from the near naive 15 year old, to the strong 22 (if I can math properly) year old was a beautiful character journey, and it was great to read of an OV world that was so supportive to their omegas in the sense of providing a safe place to escape, no questions asked.

Each Alpha was unique in their own way, playing a part in the larger pack dynamic. I loved how they all doted on Jade in their own ways, even if in some cases, it was slightly extreme. I will say, I did find Zane to be a bit OTT for a lot of the story for my taste, but at the same time, I'm aware that's how he shows his love and his care for his omega. Calvin had me swooning each time he called Jade "darling", Griffin's comedy was top notch, and Everett could have definitely been an omega in another life. I loved that Zane, Everett and Griffin had their own established triad before Jade returned into their life, even though I would have loved to see how that dynamic initially started.

When the truth came rolling on out, I had an "I knew it!" moment, but I also loved how Williams wrote it in a way that still slightly surprised me. There were little hints dropped throughout the narrative that clued you in, but the climax was still a shock. Top all of this off with the OV smutty goodness that Williams always brings, and it was a great story. I loved the peek into their lives in the future with the epilogues, and I'm so very glad that after all these characters went through, they got their happily ever after.

Thank you to the author for the eARC opportunity.

dnf at 24%.

i am so disappointed. i have been waiting for another omegaverse pack novel, and queen of diamonds was so good, so i was delighted to see another pack with m/f and m/m in it. however, this is not the book for me. everyone is so dramatic. they're all screaming at each other the whole time. the first "sex scene" is absolutely insane. this girl hasn't seen these guys in years, walks in on them, and then decides that "oh, i'm drunk, so this is totally fine and regular to do despite not asking them any questions."

not to mention, even after the fact, she tries to storm off and leave them there without asking what happened or why they lost touch. i got it at first when she was supposed to be this distraught 18 year old, but now that all these characters are older, it feels like a bunch of teenagers yelling when every other line of dialogue is "who the fuck cares, we're gonna fucking fix this" "what the fuck do you mean, i'm not fucking going anywhere with you" blah blah blah.

and this sounds like i'm complaining about the "strong language" but that's not the point. i don't care about cursing. the point is that none of this dialogue sounds like it comes from real adults who are actively trying to problem-solve and figure out what happened between them.

this just feels so unbelievably juvenile. this might have been something i thought was "edgy and different" when i was 14, but i want this book to be a sexy, fun second chance romance where they get to appreciate the ways they've grown and why they've missed one another. or i want an antagonistic sort of bully romance vibe that queen of diamonds had. but this book doesn't do either of those things, it's just a bunch of overdramatized whining at each other.

also i was extremely excited for this to be a book where in the time where the "main group" wasn't able to be together, our fmc found another lover and wanted to introduce them into the polycule. there are never enough of those. but i won't even get to see it, because i'm sure that instead of being the sexy introduction it could be, it will just be more yelling.
