Nothing sucks more than fake dating a vampire in this paranormal romantic comedy from the USA Today bestselling author of My Roommate Is a Vampire.

Amelia Collins is by definition successful. She would even go so far as to say successfully single. But not according to her family, and she's tired of the constant questions about her nonexistent dating life. When an invitation to yet another family wedding arrives, she decides to get everyone off her back once and for all by finding someone--anyone--to pose as her date.

After a chance encounter with Reginald Cleaves, Amelia decides he's perfect for her purposes. He's a bit strange, but that’s fine; it'll discourage tough questions from her family. (And it certainly doesn't hurt that he's very handsome.) For centuries-old vampire Reggie, posing as her plus-one sounds like the ultimate fun. And if it helps his ruse of pretending to be human, so much the better.

As Amelia and Reggie practice their fauxmance, it becomes clear that Reggie is as loyal to her as the day is long, and that Amelia’s first impressions could not have been more wrong. Suddenly, being in a real relationship with Reggie sounds pretty fang-tastic.

Hmm, I might read this just because the task of making Reginald into a romantic hero seems impossible and I'm curious to see if she can pull it off.

If you have had the pleasure of reading My Roommate is a Vampire you already know this book could only be RIDICULOUSLY and UTTERLY CUTE. The book has 5 ⭐️ energy so don’t look to deep into my rating. I adore this series and think it’s the perfect palette cleanser read that will cure ANY book slump. This author makes vampires cute and funny versus how in many books they’re sexy, dark and broody.

I freakin love the fake dating trope!!! My favorite part is when they want to set rules like “no fAlLiNg in lOvE or nO kIsSiNg ” and I’m sitting here reading like mmmhhhmmmm whatever I know that’s going to change by chapter 10🤭

Frederick the MMC is not only adorable but has a filthy mouth 🥵 I liked him so much!!! He’s quirky, funny, and a little out of touch with reality…hello he’s a 300 year old vampire 😂 (Can I also add it was refreshing to have a blonde guy for once I’m getting tired of all the male interests with dark hair.)
The FMC is an accountant and is all about her work so I enjoyed how he made her have fun and be happy. I was screaming when we got scenes and interactions with Frederick and Cassie from the previous book.. we are also introduced to some other new characters who I’m hoping will also have a book 🧙🏼‍♀️

Overall thoughts: I really loved this book. It’s cute, funny and a lighthearted read. I definitely recommend 💕

I really love the cover it's so eye catching.

*ೃ༄ The plot revolves around Amelia Collins a cut throat, successful accountant with a very annoying family but loving family are keen to see her date. Desperate, she lies and tells them she has a boyfriend who she'll bring to a family wedding and the only person who agrees is a charming but weird man she bumps into in the street, who has a very dark secret.

*ೃ༄ Honestly I absolutely have no criticisms to this book. Jenna has a great writing style and her words seem to seamlessly flow, there's no grammatical errors, she seems to get her point across and the narrative is well thought out and easy to understand.

*ೃ༄ The characters are thought through and they're really good together. Amelia is very sweet and Reginald is super whimsy and over the top in like the best way possible. However in all honesty I just didn't connect to them that well. They're like the people in your life who you can always say hi to and have great conversations with but you just don't care about and aren’t close to.

But I have to say that I didn't know that Levine's other book ties into this one and I went into it thinking it was a stand-alone. I mean it technically is but I always felt like I was missing something, like when you hang out with a close friend group, yea they include you and talk to you but you always feel like you're just not getting something. Would definitely recommend probably reading that before this, but I personally don't think I will.

✦ If you want a light hearted funny read with a wacky plot line and a cute romance without having to use your brain this book is definitely for you

My Vampire Plus-One is a sweet and charming rom-com following Amelia, an accountant, who is tired of having to explain her lack of a boyfriend to her meddling family, and Reggie, an ancient vampire on the run from a vigilante group. When the two bump into each other on the street and then later at a cafe, Amelia comes up with the brilliant idea to bring Reggie as her fake boyfriend to an upcoming family wedding. This was such a fun and quirky read! The fake dating was so well done and I loved how it added to the slow burn of their romance. Reggie was such a chaotic and endearing character, the lengths he went to for Amelia were so sweet. The vampire was just completely smitten and I thought it was so cute how he wrote about her in his journal. The epistolary aspects were so humorous and I loved that we got to see multiple outside perspectives through them. This would make for a great fall read and I cannot wait for the next book in this lighthearted series!

This is a Netgalley arc review. Thank you as always to the publisher and to Netgalley for these opportunities!

THIS BOOK. I had to sit on it for a few days just to get my thoughts together. I think this is the very rare case of a reverse second book syndrome, where Book 2 of the series is BETTER than the first, and in this case, better by FAR.

The first book was OK for me, but was more of an average read. I wasn’t blown away, but had enough interest in the series to continue.

It truly feels like the author took all the feedback from the first book, both positive and constructive, and intentionally went into crafting this book with that feedback in mind. And the author set up a couple challenges for herself here as well, particularly having an MMC (Reginald/Reggie) introduced in a fairly poor light in the first book becoming a believable main love interest and main character in this one. But BOY, did she absolutely nail this.

When I think of Reggie, I think of a mix of Bones from the Night Huntress book series and Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, particularly Spike’s Billy Idol, slayer rampage era. This is a character who is witty, sarcastic, irreverent, uncaring (seemingly) and so on. It’s such a hard character archetype to get right, because it can easily tip the scale overboard and make it unbelievable for the character to truly care and love, and therefore work as a romance lead. But the author got this balance soooooo right. Reggie’s character was magic, and his relationship with Amelia, the 34-year-old accountant FMC, brought out the best in his character, and was the catalyst for his immense character development.

Amelia was also a well-written, well-rounded character. I wouldn’t say this is a true reverse grumpy x sunshine because I wouldn’t classify Amelia as grumpy, more so reserved and introverted. I wouldn’t even say black cat x golden retriever either, although that may be closer.

It’s Amelia’s circumstances and a chance meet-cute (crash-cute?) that’s the driver for the fake dating plot line between her and Reggie, although the ploy also helps out Reggie’s underlying unfinished history of problems as well.

The romance between Amelia and Reggie was sweet and steamy both, and I really appreciated the balance of each. Trust played a large role between them, and respect as well. Reggie listened to Amelia where others had ignored her before, and Amelia helped Reggie to understand his value and place in the world when before it was unsettled and unknown.

I do wish was that the ending was stronger, though. I felt that the storylines being developed through the book wrapped up too quickly and easily, as well as the ending in general feeling too quickly paced.

I also wish we learned more about Reggie’s long, storied, and colorful history overall. We got tidbits and hints here and there, but I was dying to know more and uncover more of his past. Especially with how his past and the current plot were connected. I think there’s extreme potential for a second book about this same couple to extend and resolve the plot. I would say this ends with a HFN, and it was be awesome to see the author end this saga with a more definitive and satisfying close. Although this would be acceptable as a HEA if we end up not getting anything else!

Other than those two reasons, this would’ve been 5 stars. Easy.

If you’re a lover of human x vampire romance, contemporary paranormal setting, irreverent, extroverted MMC x serious, introverted FMC, and fake dating, this read should be a real treat!

I absolutely adored My Roommate Is A Vampire so I knew I had to read this one... and I was not disappointed!

4 stars | 1/5 spice

I really enjoyed Amelia and Reggies fake dating that turned to something real. The vampires in these books are always so quirky and entertaining that you won't want to set this one down! This is definitely a slow burn just like the last one by Levine.

Reggie was so eccentric and I loved it! He wasn't quite as funny as Fredrick was (he had me cackling at his antics). But I loved the vulnerability he shared with Amelia and how he quickly fell for her. I also loved how they balanced each other out and gave each other exactly what they needed.

The spice was ok? I would have loved for more spice - but that's just me. The tension between them could definitely be felt through the pages as you are reading.

Overall, a 4-star read for me. This will make the PERFECT fall read with a little bit of paranormal elements plus a cozy love story. If you were a fan of My Roommate is a Vampire then you will also adore this one! The epilogue was perfect and I loved the updates we got to see with Cassie and Fredrick. I am secretly hoping for an update of some sort on Reggie and Amelia with the next book if there is one.

i only picked this book up because i loved the first one but i should’ve at least read the description because then i would’ve known it was fake dating. i’m just not into fake dating books right now, i feel like it’s overdone and i should’ve known it was going to be fake dating because romance books always have to feature that trope in their series but also… the title. also there was no need for it to be 400 pages like cmon

I really enjoyed the first book this author wrote, and while this is kind of a sequel with overlapping characters it is minimal and this book could be enjoyed as a standalone. I liked this one a lot, but not quite as much as the first one. This is a very lighthearted vampire romance (very light on spice too). It was funny and really just a quick, run read. Amelia is an accountant and as tax season is approaching she is working endlessly long hours barely taking time to take care of herself when she literally runs into Reginald on her way to a family dinner. He asks her for a favor and tells her he owes her one before he disappears. When another impending family wedding and the judgement and disappointment of her parents looms she latches onto the idea of pretending to have a boyfriend and after bumping back into Reggie she asks him and they embark on my favorite romance trope - fake relationship.

✧.* A silly little vampire romcom is exactly what I needed to help me out of my slump

Reginald and Amelia are perfect. For once in a blue moon I actually love both the characters and I loved their chemistry and banter.

I have realised for me a romance has to have a fairly solid plot in the background to keep me engaged otherwise if it is straight instalove and smut every chapter I immediately DNF but My vampire plus one was fleshed out enough that I actually cared about the characters and their stories. I enjoyed the silliness of the vampire aspect and even the predictability of the story didn't detract from my enjoyment.

I hope Jenna Levine writes more books in this world

One of my most anticipated books of the year! Not going to lie, my excitement levels for this book hit the galactic ceiling and it was everything and more. 1000/10 stars and I’ll tell you for why. Pull up a pew or go read the book ASAP because it’s a worthy addition to your bookshelf.

We got a brief and tantalising glimpse of Reginald in the previous book, and it’s safe to say, he is quick to captivate. He has an air about him and the swoon transcends pages *insert frantic fan waving emoji here*. He’s so quirky and I love that he’s so unapologetically him. And the spice - ooof!

Jenna Levine is a fantastic writer and BOY did she do us a solid in this book. She’s rapidly becoming a favourite author for sure. I’m so glad she gave a story to Reginald and introduced us to Amelia, who was a fab character as well. We also check in with Cassie and Frederick and see their story develop a little more.

It was an easily enjoyable read, both feel good and a heartwarming supernatural romance. Loved it!

Thank you to the author and publisher for this book on NetGalley in return for my honest thoughts and review.

I'm a HUGE fan of My Roommate Is A Vampire, so to say I was excited to read this is an understatement!

While the first book is still my favorite, I absolutely adored this one. It was laugh out loud funny and I just loved the two main characters. The fake dating trope was done very well and I just really appreciate how the author incorporates vampires being silly and cute vs dark and scary. The romance was a bit slow compared to the first book and I felt like this one didn't have as much of connection between the characters, but once the spicy scenes hit it was fun and wild!!

If the author continues making more vampire books like this one, sign me up!!

Fake dating a vampire never looked so good! Reginald is the cutest 😍

~ Amelia is in desperate need of a fake boyfriend for her cousins upcoming wedding. One more comment about her workaholic ways and nonexistent dating life will send her over the edge. Reginald seems a little strange but so far he’s her best option. It’s not like she plans to see him after the wedding anyway. ~

This is definitely one of my favorite reads in 2024! The humor, the back and forth, the vulnerability.. there’s so much to this book AND their romance, I loved every second.

I only wish there was a long ass epilogue a few years down the line because I’d love to see where they end up 😍

Can’t wait for more from this author!

This was a fun and cute paranormal romance. I really enjoyed the fmc alot and how she had no idea that vampires were real lol. The main characters Reggie and Amelia had chemistry though the mmc was a bit boring at times. I thought the fake dating plot was okay even though it didnt seem neccessary to the story after the blizzard. The main characters start their fake dating stint after the fmc goes to the mmc to recollect a favor, she needs his help in getting her family of her back.

There were some humorous moments, centuries old vampires, a secret society vigilante vampire group and more in this. I liked the romance, it was a bit of a slow burn but once they got together they were in it. There is a bit of steam and blood drinking which was good. After reading this I think I need to read the other vampire book by the author. Thank you Berkley for this arc for an honest review.

Read for:
- Paranormal romance
- Opposites attracts
- Vampire/human pairing
- Some steam
- Fake dating

This book was just so cute!! Perfect way to start the fall vibes reads for sure! It doesn’t take that long to know what happened from the first book.
It was so nice to see Fredrick and cassie popping up in this book too!

Reginald: Reggie was stunningly handsome man figuring out a way to mix in with the humans the way he met Amelia not going to lie at first their meet was awkward, but you do seem to understand why as you go along they’re just perfect for each other and they didn’t know it yet 🥹

Amelia: the way Amelia wasn’t that baffled when Reggie told her he was a vampire just shows she has a good heart. I get she was trying to impress her family have them to back off but it still wasn’t fair for the pressure for Reggie when he was himself trying to understand human world.

Romance: The romance was so cute the way they both cared for each other and the relationship wasnt toxic due to family members which i loved to see. The connection that these two had was powerful even in tough situations they both still made it work for each other and i found that admiring.
The way they kept the friendship between Cassie and Fredrick the same i loved seeing that pov side too theey both had a good friendship between each other and to rely too to make everyone comfortable

The ending was just perfectt for Reggie and Amelia i just hope in the next book if there is one they still mention these two id love to see how their love grows. i really enjoyed this book so much!!

2024 reads: 250/250

i received an advanced review copy from the publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest review. this did not affect my rating.

note: this is the sequel to my roommate is a vampire. though this follows a different couple, i still recommend reading that one first!

amelia collins would consider herself successful. she has a good job and a good life. however, in her family’s eyes, she’s missing one thing: love. so, when the news of her cousin’s upcoming wedding is brought up, her family takes her sarcastic remark about having a boyfriend a bit too seriously…which leads to a fake-dating proposal with a strange man named reginald cleaves.

i really enjoyed my roommate is a vampire last year, and loved reggie as a side character, so i couldn’t wait to see him as the main character in this one! i loved getting to know him better and seeing how he interacted with the human world. also, something i loved about book one was how humorous it was, which i’m pleased to say also describes this book. the humor aspect kind of goes with what i was saying about reggie and the human world😉

i also loved amelia as a main character! she’s not the best at sticking up for herself, but i appreciated how she grew from this. she also didn’t set aside her career, though she did learn to make time for herself, which was nice to see.

i’d recommend this to anyone who enjoyed book one. i can’t wait for more from jenna levine!

So excited that I received an ARC of this novel after how much I adored “My Roommate is a Vampire!” And once again, I received endless serotonin and giggles. I knew I was going to devour Reginald’s love story and it absolutely delivered for me! And the cover😍

Reginald and Amelia fall into a fake dating arrangement that seems mutually beneficial - Amelia needs to get her family out of her love life and Reginald needs to avoid the Vampire society tracking him down. What they don’t expect is their immediate chemistry and understanding of each other.

Reginald’s characterization is so outrageous in the best way. You would expect Vampires who are hundreds of years old to be brooding and cold, but that’s not what Levine delivers. He has an outlandish fashion sense and he bullet journals!! I love their dynamic so much. I completely recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun and unique read.

Thank you Berkley Romance for the advanced copy.

I went into this fully unaware that it was part of a series. I didn’t even read the blurb haha. That being said, I had a lot of fun with this! I was desperate for an audiobook and picked this one, hesitant that I would enjoy it, but I actually really loved it?? I think I’m going to try the first one now, because again, this was so fun!

Also obsessed with an MMC who wears makeup and skirts and shit. There’s even a scene where he puts makeup on her, and I LOVED it. Reggie is just insanely entertaining haha.

I don’t care how unrealistic, silly, or predictable a vampire love story is - I will eat it up every time. I think I liked this book even more than the first one. Which is something I can never say! When I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about reading it. It was very much a slow burn, but definitely worth the wait.

I loved Reginald!! He was so quirky, charming, and funny.
This book had me smiling and laughing out loud throughout. I also loved how the author incorporated journal entries & text messages because for me, that always adds another layer of excitement to the story. My only complaint is that the ending felt a little abrupt. There was this whole build up to the cousin’s wedding only for it to be included in a very small portion at the very end of the book. I was really hoping we would have gotten more of Reginald & Amelia as they dove deeper into their relationship because I loved them as a couple.

Overall, this was such an easy, funny, and light hearted read with unique characters that I didn’t want to end. Can’t wait to see what this author has in store for the future.

Thank you to NetGalley & Berkley Publishing for my eARC copy of this book!

After reading the ARC for My Roommate is a Vampire, I was really looking forward to this one but had no idea how Jenna Levine was going to turn Reggie into a romantic hero but boy did she.

Amelia is self-proclaimed boring and tired of her entire family on her back about her being single when she’s just trying to get through tax season (she’s an accountant). In the most bizarre meet cute ever she meets Reginald - a very strange vampire that offers his services as Amelia’s fake boyfriend…

I found this so funny and I have never once in my life enjoyed a miscommunication trope apart from in this. I loved hearing more of Cassie and Frederick’s stories in this. It was lighthearted, funny, and I really enjoyed the writing style.

This book is dual POV but I don’t think it was really necessary. There really wasn’t much of Reggie’s POV and the chapter starters (which I loved) gave enough of a POV for me.

My Vampire Plus-One was entirely ridiculous but in the absolute best way. Where else is a ‘boring’ accountant going to save the day and not only that but save the day with tax laws than in a Jenna Levine book? The answer is nowhere. I really enjoyed this and I think I even liked it more than the first one.

Jenna Levine continues to write the vampire romcoms of my dreams! This book follows Reggie (who we meet in the first interconnected book ‘My Roommate Is A Vampire) our resident vampire and Amelia, a quirky accountant.

Reggie and Amelia quite literally run into one another outside a coffee shop and end up brewing up some favours from one another. Amelia is tired of her family giving her grief for being the black sheep of the family, and for still being single. When it’s Reggie’s turn to owe Amelia a favour she hatches up a plan to bring him as a fake date to her cousins wedding to get her family off her back. A meet the parents, snowed in-one bed-cabin stay, and some hilarity over Amelia’s understanding that Reggie is actually a vampire later… and a real romance is brewing.

This was so much fun. The comedy in reading Reggie’s POV, his bullet journal and various texts and emails between characters throughout the book really adds a fun flair. The intimate scene was something I brushed over as the vibes for me weren’t right with the level of fun comedic vibes happening in this book but I suppose I could just be being a prude!

This is a must read for all my fellow twilight adults forever chasing more vampire love.

This was such a cute follow up to My Roommate is a Vampire which I completely adored! The two books in this interconnected standalone series are not only funny and flirty, but full of heart and real-world issues.

Here are some of the specific things I really loved about this book:
1. I loved the tax accountant rep we saw in our FMC Amelia. As a fellow tax accountant, I loved that she was seen in a good light rather than the typical nerdy accountant who no one likes schtick we tend to see in books. I also freaking LOVED how her knowledge and the tax code were very important in this story 😉

2. Reggie was hilarious, adorable, and super sexy all at once! The fact that this man just wanted to make her laugh, make her pancakes, and still would go feral over anyone who disrespected her, he really hit on all my favorite things in an MMC. He reminds me of my husband, so there’s also that!

3. I loved the bits we saw of Frederick and Cassie! I love when we get to revisit old favorites in new books in an interconnected standalone series. It was so nice catching up with them and…everything that was going on in their lives! I can’t wait to see what each of the couples get into going forward if there is a next book.

4. This story was downright hilarious! Not just in the interactions between our FMC and MMC, but in little things like how Reggie dressed, how Reggie texted, Amelia and her friend Sophie’s conversations, and Amelia’s conversations with herself. Definitely a rom-com in my opinion!

5. I liked the storyline weaved in the background about The Collective. It was interesting to watch all the pieces come together, and even more interesting to “meet” a new character who I suspect will be getting to claim the lead in book 3 if there is one!

Overall, a great read for those who like their vampire love stories funny and flirty.

Thank you to NetGalley, Berkley Publishing Group, and Jenna Levine for the opportunity to read a copy of this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.

I had a rather fun time!

I haven't read My Roommate is a Vampire, and while there is some obvious character crossover I found it did not hinder me from understanding this book in any way. But I might go back to read it later because Fredrick and Cassie do seem like they'd be interesting to read about as well.

Anyways, let's dive into it.

This book is what I think most would consider 'campy'. But I mean that in the best way. It's playful and doesn't take itself too seriously—even our studious, particular, accountant FMC.

Amelia and Reggie bump into each other by accident on the street, while she's leaving late from her job and he's fleeing his peculiar pursuers. From this chance meeting, pure hijinks ensue.

Reggie and Amelia had such a sweet, effortless chemistry. They were opposites in so many ways. But they complimented each other in every way that mattered. They're like peanut butter and jelly. Best of all, they communicate like adults. There is no long-standing miscommunication. No third-act break-up. Just pure love and respect. I love that for them. And I loved this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
