Josie Riviera is one of my favorite authors. She always takes the time to do her research and share that with her readers. Her characters are engaging and her storylines offer the reader the chance to keep turning the pages. Often when you finish you wish the story could go on and on. Jenny Ormani and Christopher Drake grow up on Pink Coral Island. They had a charmed but pit filled childhood. Will their adulthood be the same? Will they rekindle their young love? The Gullah community has recently been introduced to me. I was glad to read their traditions, superstitions, and beliefs explained so well. I hope we get to visit the island again soon. I received an ARC. A review was not required.

On a small island off South Carolina, investors are attempting to refurbish an old hotel into a luxurious resort. Jenny has taken the job of hotel manager and has come to the island. Christopher, a co-owner of the hotel, is on the island working to bring it back to its previous glory. The two had lived on the island many years ago and had walked away from their teenage romance. Will they be able to rekindle that romance or has there too many years and too much hurt for that to happen? In typical Josie Riviera style, she has woven a beautiful story that really touches your heart! Her descriptions of the Gullah people who live on the island and their customs are spot on! One of the best books she has written!

Pink Coral Island is a clean, heartwarming, second chance romance with drama and suspense. Both the island and the Gullah culture are ”characters” in this well written romance. I enjoyed watching Jenny and Christopher work through their issues and rediscover their bond. To complicate the plot, someone seems determined to sabotage the reopening of the hotel. This was a very interesting book that I could not put down!

"Pink Coral Island" held my interest and was a step into learning about some of the Gullah history and culture. When Jenny is hired to manage a new hotel in the place she grew up, she doesn't hesitate to take on the new job opportunity with her best friend Maria. The hotel has a wonderful view and was like stepping into a palace. But Jenny's biggest surprise upon arrival is learning that her childhood friend and former sweetheart Christopher is the builder of the hotel (or could it be more?). While Christopher reveals his long-held feelings for Jenny, she's been burned before and isn't ready for romance. A rival resident and teacher--Evan Farrenway--strikes up a friendship with Jenny and tries to whisk her away with a job offer in Los Angeles. There seems to be tension between Evan and Christopher. Is Jenny ready to bid farewell to Pink Coral Island, her childhood memories, Christopher and his son, and all the friends she's made? She's worked long and hard to complete the new hotel, despite the fires, vandalism, and problems they've faced. Can she give it all up? And then some mysteries from the past begin to come to light. Plenty of danger, twists and turns! I appreciate Ms. Riviera's research in this book and found the Gullah culture interesting, though I wish there was more about them. My only complaint is--The question remains: who caused the fires and vandalism? I guess I'll have to wait until the next book in the series! I highly recommend "Pink Coral Island" for a much different and clean romantic story.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have voluntarily given my honest opinion in this review.

I have always enjoyed Josie Riviera books. You can always tell she does a lot of research. This story tells about Gullah culture with their superstitions and their traditions on Pink Coral Island. Jenny Ormani and her friend Maria are coming from Italy to the island to work at the Grand Michelangelo. Jenny is returning aa she has always felt this was home to her. This island was where she grew up alongside Christopher Drake from young children to young adults. She had to move as her father lost his job on the island. Even though Jenny and Christopher loved each other, he felt she needed someone better than him and she felt betrayed by their breakup. Little did she know that the place she will be working belongs to Christopher and his co-owner friend. Will these two get a second chance as he has a son he is raising on his own, learning to trust each other, as well as vandalism, and fires set. I am looking forward to finding out who is the arsonist. I have my suspects.

For me, this was one of those reads that moved at a steady pace, laying the groundwork for the story and revealing the characters, flaws and all, so that before I knew it, I was invested in the outcome of both the hotel and the various characters' lives. Pink Coral Island and the year-round residents, mainly Gullah, came to life; it's a community that works together, supporting themselves and adjusting to allowing outsiders in. This is a good, clean read, where the second-chance romance between Jenny and Christopher, childhood best friends and first loves, takes place. They are in their mid- to late-twenties, and perhaps because they were childhood sweethearts, some of the actions are reflective of a younger individual. It does come together in a lovely way.

I received an ARC, and I am leaving my own thoughts on the book without the influence of the writer or publisher.

Josie Riviera gives us a taste of traditional Gullah culture in this sweet romance. Is it possible for long ago feelings to be rekindled when Jenny returns to Pink Coral Island and finds that Christopher, a special friend from her youth, has also come back and that she will be working with him as part of her new job?

The road to their future is uneven and there are moments when I wondered how they would work out their problems.

The main characters are well developed and I enjoyed getting to know them. The setting is beautifully described for the reader – I felt like I “knew” the island. The story certainly held my interest and kept me on my toes to see what would happen next.

Travel to Pink Coral Island to enjoy this beautiful tale.

I live in the Carolinas, and truly love the beach. So, I decided to write a beach romance.

One of my favorite beaches is on Hilton Head Island, but there are many hidden, remote beaches along the Carolinas.

Daufuskie Island is off the coast of South Carolina and is a magical place.

Although the island in my story is fictional, many readers will recognize that I tailored Pink Coral Island after Daufuskie Island, SC. Many hours of research resulted in my fascination with the Gullah culture, superstitions, and traditions. I hope I did these justices in this novel.

Happy reading! As always, this novel is a sweet, clean, and wholesome romance.

Second chance romance is a favorite trope of mine. I love when the hero and heroine have a history together, as Jenny and Christopher do, having been childhood sweethearts on the island. As Christopher went off to college, they both left the island and a misunderstanding kept them apart. Now ten years later Christopher returns to renovate the hotel and Jenny takes the job to manage it without knowing he’s the new co-owner. He has always loved her and sees this as their second chance, but Jenny is not going to make that easy on him. A sweet romance with some conflicts and a heroine that wasn’t ready to trust again.

The island sounds like an interesting place to visit, rich with culture but I can understand why it’s hard to get people to work and live there with unreliable ferry service, wifi, and lack other amenities. Jenny and Christopher’s second chance is fraught with issues just like the hotel he’s rebuilding. She kept putting up walls and pushing him away and it doesn’t help that they are both jealous. It seemed like their relationship took a turn around rather fast. His son Sebastian is precocious along with their large destructive rescue dog. There were several interesting mysteries but none of them were solved by the end of the book.

This was an enjoyable second chance story that's about Jenny Ormani and Christopher Drake who were childhood sweethearts that meet when Jenny returns home to Pink Coral Island. Jenny gets a job working at a beach-side hotel as manager who runs into Christopher who's rebuilding the hotel. Will their reunion allow them to try again, or will past hurts prevent them opening their hearts? The characters were interesting, the romance between them was a slow build in this clean romance, the people of the island (Gullah) were interesting to read about in this copy that I'd received and volunteer to read and review.

I have been reading this authors books for a few years now and am never disappointed! Jenny, Christopher, Sebastian, Maria and a host of other characters captured my heart. Jenny and Christopher have a past connection but neither has any idea the other is on Pink Coral Island, returning to their childhood home. Getting the old hotel up and running is proving to be a challenge. It appears someone does not want it to happen. I loved the back and forth with Jenny and Christopher as they try to figure out how to move forward and possibly rekindle their love. I received this book as a gift and chose to write a reveiw

Series starter.

Josie Riviera is one of my favorite authors. This book had so much promise, but I feel it fell short of her other books. It has an incredible setting, interesting characters, and a good premise. I liked that it was clean and went into Gullah history, superstitions, and traditions but the angst and emotional drama between Jenny and Christopher were overdone in my opinion. What should have been a poignant second chance story seemed like it would have fit better as a YA teen romance. I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

Josie Riviera is one of my favorite authors. The island setting is rich in Gullah history, superstitions and tradition but unfortunately not a promising vacation destination with its unreliable ferry and Wi-Fi services. This reader was overwhelmed by the angst and emotional drama between Jenny and Christopher. A good, clean read and second-chance romance. This story fell short of her other books and series.
