The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue meets This is How You Lose The Time War in this fantastical love story that defies death as two souls reincarnate through the centuries.

They've loved each other in a thousand lifetimes. They've killed each other in every one.

Evelyn remembers all her past lives. She also remembers that in every single one, she’s been murdered before her eighteenth birthday by Arden, a supernatural being whose soul―and survival―is tethered to hers.

The problem is that she’s quite fond of the life she’s in now, and her little sister needs her for bone marrow transplants in order to stay alive. If Evelyn wants to save her sister, she’ll have to:

1. Find the centuries-old devil who hunts her through each life―before they find her first.
2. Figure out why she’s being hunted and finally break their curse.

"If a hero is someone who will give up love to save the world, then a villain is the reverse. Someone who will give up the world to save love."

I feel like this book is going to be the Divine Rivals of 2025. It is an epic, sweeping love story that transcends time and centuries and gender. It is heartbreaking and uplifting. It has some of the most beautiful prose I have ever read, and I don't usually tab books, but I was tabbing this one. It's also inspired by one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs, exile, so there was a lot to love here. Highly recommend.

Huge thanks to Wednesday Books for the bound manuscript.

*unintelligible screaming*

This was SO so good! I had been in a massive fantasy slump but Our Infinite Fates toed the line perfectly between awesomely fantastically and real. I was sold at ‘‘based on Taylor Swift’s Exile. We follow Evelyn and Arden, two immortals doomed to love one another and kill one another in every lifetime. Their relationship transcends time, gender, social norms, and is written so beautifully, it’s a pleasure to read.

Not only is the writing exquisite and the book characters deep and real, the plot is also frankly insane? The tension had my eyes GLUED to the screen of my Kindle and some of those plot twists had me reading wayyy into the night.

If you’re a fan of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue or This Is How You Lose The Time War, please try this! I also got Divine Rivals vibes, which is the HIGHEST of praise. these characters feel imprinted on my soul and I can’t wait until this releases un February 2925 so everyone else can bask in Laura’s visceral and heartbreaking writing.

Thank you Penguin for an ARC of this book!!!

As soon as I heard the premise of this book I felt such a sense of joy because I knew I was going to read something special. Laura Stevens has taken the fated mates trope and has written something that is so rich, unique and fulfilling that it makes you seek out small joys and comforts after you emerge from this book.

To truly know and love a person with your whole heart is such a beautiful thing and Laura Stevens has written this lovely, queer(!!!), romantic story that will leave you yearning for someone that knows and loves your very soul.

I had a few issues with the final act and the way the ‘truth’ was told to the reader but with such strong and nuanced characters, compelling intrigue and THAT FINAL LINE it’s not enough for me to remove a single star.

This book is a certified banger and I can’t wait until the rest of the world gets to read this and fall in love with these two souls as they travel through time and fall in love with each again and again and again 💕

uh...like.... um just..what? invisible life of addie larue meets this is how you lose time war, right? yeah sure, you can say that, especially considering how boring it is, but the above two books had writing going for them, but this one had a bunch of pretentious words thrown together in an illogical way to make it seem beautiful, but it's just ....not. not when there is no nuance in the characters, relationships and no complexity in the way the story (if you can even call it that) unfolds. the premise was just so good to be wasted this way....I'm just speechless. two people always fated to kill eachother in every life!!! how could this premise be this boring and stale😭😭 i just can't get over how sick i feel.

quotes that should have been in tumblr or pinterest in pandemic are being presented to my face in big 2024 in a traditionally published book?? yeah no. wake the fuck up.

thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wowowowowowow this was absolutely amazing. I should’ve known that anything Laura Steven puts out would be but this absolutely blew me away.

This is how you do enemies to lovers. This is how you write a book that transcends time.

“I love you. And I have loved you. And I will love you.”

The time jumps giving us glimpse into Arden and Evelyn throughout their lives while also showing us who they are now was perfectly done. The ending was absolutely perfect for this story. This is one that I can see myself thinking about for a very long time.

We have quite a long time until the publication and I will most definitely read this again. I think everyone should add this to their tbr and plan to read it as soon as it comes out.

Thank you to St. Martin’s press for the advanced copy of this book, I was a winner in the Goodreads giveaway.
Overall, I thought this was a solid read, and kept me intrigued through the story. Warning, likely some spoilers ahead as I put in what I loved about the book and what I found to be weak.
What I loved:
-The flashbacks as a tool for readers to learn more about the main characters Arden and Evelyn and their love origins
-The reincarnations of Arden and Evelyn being all sorts of different characters, male or female, different cultures, etc.
-How they were at major historical events throughout their many lives- I had just read a book on different witchcraft trials including one on Vardo and so the flashback/mention of Vardo was interesting to see.
What I found to be weaker:
-the Underrealm scene and the interactions with the Mother. That whole section of the book felt a little rushed/too short to really feel that the Mother was fleshed out for being the villain in the story. Maybe having more Mother interactions sprinkled through would have been helpful to make that more impactful when they finally confront her? Like more clues for Evelyn to figure out her origin instead of Arden just telling her?
-the whole goal for Evelyn throughout the book was to stay in the life she was already in. I think I would’ve found the ending more satisfying if they had woken up in their bodies after all that went down in the Underrealm and been able to live past 18 in the welsh storyline. It felt a little clean that they could just leave the mess of Dylan and Branwen behind for a new life fresh for their love, but that’s just me.

Overall 4 stars, thanks again for the advanced copy!

I should not have been surprised by how much this book destroyed me. Laura has always written the visceral kind of story that sinks into your bones and burrows into your heart, but with OUR INFINITE FATES, she levelled up exponentially. I read it with the breathless excitement that readers chase and hunt for all their lives. It's such an unbearably special book, both epic in scale and filled with small moments of quiet, piercing brilliance. I am so excited for the world to know this story and love these characters, and even more excited for what Laura gives us next.

This book is breathtaking.

From Laura’s profound writing to the stunning story line, she’s really hit the jackpot with this one.

There’s so much to relate too, and the dynamic between our two main characters is full of depth and nuance. A love that exceeds the limits of this world.

A beautiful story with a twist that will leave you shocked and stunned, wondering what happened next.

I was breathless by the last page. And a little teary.

This is such a special book!

I feel as though I’ve been on a whole journey with Arden and Evelyn, and experienced so many different histories, emotions, struggles and precious moments.

I’ll never forget these characters. They made me think about what it means to be human, to be alive, to truly love.

I ADORED this with all that I am. The whole concept is just DELICIOUS: two souls through time finding each other, loving each other, being ripped apart from each other. The characters are just amazing and I could’ve kept reading for PAGES more. The ending gave my heart everything that it needed to be healed from all the tears I shed. I loved all of the stories through time of them meeting each other again; I just wanted more and more. God, I just adored this so much. The world better fall in love with this too.

Sprawling, star-crossed, and sensational, OUR INFINITE FATES is the kind of book that only comes around once in a lifetime. With immaculately crafted settings and whirlwind twists and turns, Evelyn and Arden's story is a breathtaking romantasy that gives enemies to lovers a whole new meaning.

i have every confidence that this book will be the next big thing. so thoughtful and provoking with discussions about fate, death, love, souls, gender, identity, sex, life, and belonging, it creeps up on you in the best possible way.

i'm speechless after finishing it. this was so unlike anything i've ever read. it really puts everything into perspective, life and belonging, the hopelessness of existence. some parts were definitely also not for me - it was very long at times, very slow, and slightly repetitive in the middle, but everything balances out so perfectly. i can't even imagine the utter time and care that was put into research and writing, truly a love letter to history. every chapter set in the past was so interesting and fascinating, which is so hard to do. my favorite chapters were obviously russia/siberia (top tier,) el salvador, nauru, and austria-hungary.

laura steven does a very good job of balancing cultural identities, but i did wish she played into it more. i think it's also very telling of the way this book was written that so many cultures and identities have been erased in history that we can't know of in the modern day as the author writes. the eurocentric focus to the past lives was telling to no one else but me, however, having lived over a millennium, there's no way power and colonization didn't play a much larger part than the base mentions. especially colonization.

laura steven also wrote immortals who are teenagers so well, they were so loving and kind in their dialogue but the moments that push through when you haven't actually evolved past 18, so true.

i also loved the focus that the love story took throughout the whole book. obviously overwhelming and uncontrollable at times, but the realistic look that loving someone for a long time means a quiet that overtakes your being. and at the end of the day, love also wasn't the main focus. the idea that life should be more important and that people matter above all else.

i have a million more thoughts and i know this book is one i'll be thinking about for a long time, probably for the rest of my life. but i also believe in a spoiler-free(ish) review so i'll just share some of my favorite quotes/moments:
- climbing into the grave together
- "i've never met anyone as ruthful as you."
- the red ribbon
- "this is a bit much, evelyn. even for you." I YELLED
- "I think i prefer being a boy, but I couldn't say why, exactly. it almost defies language"

also, the day i get the 1st print hardcover edition with the gold sprayed edges is the day i truly know peace

Our Infinite Fates is a book that will stay with you long after you finish it. I truly believe this is a book for everyone – it has the tender love of a romance, the bizarrely supernatural elements of a fantasy, the heart wrenching reality of a history, and somehow the innocence of a children’s novel wrapped up in the maturity of an adult’s.

The beauty of this book is how it can make you FEEL every possible human emotion (no joke, I cried 16 separate times) sometimes all at the same time. There were times when I couldn’t tell if I was crying because it was so beautifully written, or from the love between Arden and Evelyn, or from their pain, and really it didn’t matter as I was so engrossed in their story I couldn’t stop reading through my tears. I can’t say anything about the ending, as you must experience this book as blind as Evelyn is to the truth – but I can say that I shouted NO through tears many times during the final 60 pages.

As a fan of Steven’s other works, I already knew I loved her writing, but Our Infinite Fates takes their craft to a whole new level. The lyricism of her language so gorgeously wove together the past and present in a way that felt poetic – and then she goes and proves through Arden that she can write poems too! I will be shocked if anyone finishes this book without a renewed (or new) interest in literature itself sparking. If you’re more historically inclined, I can assure you that the chapters in their past lives have you diving into wonderfully rich descriptions of the past – from the beauty of a tiny trawler off the coast of Nauru in 1968, to the horrors of an asylum in 1862 Vermont, to the sweltering heat of the Sahara in 1290.

It's hard to talk about this book without getting overly personal as you are so intimately involved in Arden and Evelyn’s story that you can’t help but reflect on your own life. They made me yearn for a love so deep and meaningful; made me re-examine and cherish the loves I do have; and truly made me question who I am at my core. It takes a master to tell a story with so much heart you are forced to look at your own, and Laura Steven has truly cemented herself as such with this book. Our Infinite Fates is not only my top read of 2024, but has instantly become a firm favourite that I can see myself revisiting over and over.

Received an arc copy from a Waterstones giveaway, and I'm so happy for my luck.

I give this book a 4.5/5, though a nice rounded 5 stars for Goodreads because I like to be optimistic

I am always someone who adores a time travel/reincarnation/tragic love story plot. Our Infinite Fates has a beautiful combination of all three. The characters all felt so inexplicably human in the face of tragedy, and our main character Evelyn will forever believe in the power of love because it's the only thing that keeps them going throughout their hardships. Their love for Arden is beautiful and heartbreaking, with every new life they experience always ending in tragedy as Arden must always kill Evelyn before their 18th birthdays.

Laura's writing is great, conveying some complex topics and a digestible format. I do think that there could've been more exploration into Evelyn and Arden's gender identities (or lack thereof) as when it was brought up it felt rather shallow, but it is a minor point.

My biggest gripe is the entire Underrealm portion. It very much felt like it came out of nowhere - a bit more needed to be done to sow the seeds of what's to come there. Evelyn only wanted to live her CURRENT life with Gracie, her mother and Arden/Dylan... To have that ignored in favour of having them both reincarnate one final time didn't quite sit right with me. If the book is to have a happy ending, I don't see why it couldn't be the one Evelyn wished for after the millennia of suffering she has endured.

I look forward to the book's formal release and wish it nothing but the best success.

Thank you to netgalley and penguin for sending me an eARC! when i saw this book on Laura Steven’s tiktok with the tagline “they’ve loved each other in a thousand lifetimes, they’ve killed each other in every one” I just became desperate to read this book. I was overjoyed when the ARC came in and thankfully, this book more than lived up to my excitement. Our Infinite Fates follows Evelyn and Arden and the strange curse that links them - they are drawn together and fall in love in every lifetime but inevitably kill each other before reaching their 18th birthday in each one, only to be reborn again moments later. It really reminded me of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, another favourite of mine! This book really delves into the supernatural without getting bogged down in overcomplicated details. I found it both easy to understand and rich in magical realism that kept you guessing until the very end. The question of why Evelyn and Arden are this way kept me gripped throughout, and i did not see the explanation coming - it’s rare that a book really shocks me but i gasped out loud at this one!! Laura Steven also does an incredible job at immersing the reader in the places she writes about, and the world of Evelyn’s life as Branwen and her life in Wales with her mum and sister Gracie and all of their troubles was so heart-wrenchingly real. Not only that, but all of the places across the world we visit in Evelyn and Arden’s past lives like El Salvador, Serbia and the trenches of the Western Front are so captivating, so well researched and so detailed that I was in awe of how Laura creates a different atmosphere in every chapter. Not only is this a heartbreaking story of love, loss, betrayal and hope, but it’s a writing masterclass in all aspects. I cannot wait until this book comes out and I can scream about all the amazing little details I adored about this book!

I finished this book two days ago, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. The longer I sit with it, the more reasons I find to love it. It's the kind of book that moves me to create art, but I am not an artist.

So I sit with images of winding red ribbons and cold, muddy trenches and sun warmed sand and a frozen wilderness and the steady beeping symphony of hospital rooms playing on repeat in my head with nowhere for it to go.

I think of the magic and devastation of two souls fated to love and destroy each other in every lifetime.

Our Infinite Fates is a standalone fantasy for readers who live for the second book in a trilogy- those who love a story with angst and pining and grief and joy and heartbreak and seemingly.inconquerable odds.

It's for the hopeless romantics and those who seek catharsis through stories.

This book is character driven, not action driven, and the timeline shifts combined with the many different lifetimes may be disorienting for ADHD readers or others who have trouble focusing to follow a story, but it's worth investing the energy to finish.

I've read a lot of YA fantasy in my lifetime, and this is by far one of my favorites

To be honest, I didn't have any opinions about this book going in. It had a pretty cover so I entered into a giveaway to win it. I was happy to win, but had no idea how much I would enjoy it. BUT OH MY GOSH. I really enjoyed this book. I thought the execution of a really intricate story line was going to be hard to pull off, but Laura Steven killed it! I loved the interwoven story lines from the different lives that the two protagonists lived, while following the present day conflict.
I hate reviews with spoilers, so I'll save those for myself, but this book brought me back out of a reading slump, I finished it in a single day. I couldn't wait to learn more about WHY they were stuck in their infinite loop of existence. AND THE REVEAL! Wow, I was not expecting it, and I loved every second of it.
Anyway, I have no idea if anyone will actually read this review, but if you do, I hope this helps you decide to give the book a chance, because I am really glad I did! I read an uncorrected copy, so there were some minor editing issues I saw, but the story was wonderful. :)

Heart stopping. Spell binding. Painfully beautiful and unlike anything I’ve read before. There are so many ways I could describe this book, but none of them are quite right. None of them reach the depth and heart poured into every single page. This book is a romance—steamy, fun, with witty banter and the most gorgeous moments time after time—and it’s a tale of grief and human nature. I cried. A lot. I laughed just as much.

The characters were so fleshed out that they felt more than real. Like old friends I’d simply forgotten to miss until I met them here. And the story that Laura Steven weaves is just exceptional. Twists, turns, excitement, sadness, angst, yearning, and more than anything—hope. I wish I could give it ten stars. Or a thousand. But I suppose I’ll settle for five. This is a new classic, written with such craftsmanship that felt both effortless and handled with immense care. If you read anything, let it be this book. Just stock up on the tissues before 🥲

I loved so much about this story! The author took such a poetic approach to the story about love. It was such an honest and vulnerable description about all the different kinds of love, from romance to love between sisters, mothers, family and love between friends, it was refreshing to hear from all different perspectives.

I loved the back and forth POV and all the time periods that our main character traveled. The style is my favorite kind of storytelling, and the author did it flawlessly. I absolutely loved the subject of reincarnation and the twist that provided for the story.

I loved the questions this brought up while reading. I wondered about if it would be better to know or not know the fate of your destiny, and each of the main characters took on that role, while reading I wondered which role would have been a harder burden to carry.

Fantastic read, I will recommend to all!
