You're the Boss

Rate this book
A sexy, banter-filled romcom between the secretary trying to escape and the man who refuses to let her go...

Current life hand in my resignation and get out from under the thumb of my cold, demanding boss that I’ve not-so-lovingly nicknamed The Bastard. After a month of trying and failing to get the infuriating man to accept it, his grandfather offers me the chance I’ve been waiting go on a trip up north for six weeks for a project that will solidify my boss’ position as the company Vice-President, and he’ll personally see to it that my resignation is processed on our return. The catch? I have to live with him for those six weeks.

That’s exactly how I acquire a rich, handsome roommate who doesn’t seem to know what a shirt is, can’t operate a washing machine, and might actually set the kitchen on fire. They’re all sides of Theodore Black I’ve never seen before, but I still don’t know if I want to kick him or kiss him. Until I accidentally walk in on him doing some self-care in the shower. And maybe… the office isn’t the only place he’s the boss.

You're the Boss is a steamy standalone romantic comedy. If you love roommates, office romances, and hate/love relationships, this is for you.

The author started off with lots of snarky banter, several side characters, a 'bastard' boss and a heroine who wanted to quit. Way too much overload for me at one time. Sorry, I just couldn't get into this story, or feel anything for the characters. 😐

DNF around 28%. It's not awful, but I've just read a million better versions of this grumpy boss story. Some of the humor is kind of cute, but a lot of it also isn't quite as clever as it's meant to be, and I find the weird lofty aristocracy ties intrusive and annoying. Plus his feelings are revealed way too soon with far too little substance. Meh.

Very cute read

Awe! This sweet read warmed my heart. I love the over bearing boss and the strong woman that could put up with his crap and put him in his place.

This was. . . bad. . . but it still had a few good moments. . . and I really mean a "few". . .

I've been curious with this author for a long time and since this book just came out and the blurb got me so curious I decided to pick it up.
The thing is. . . this book had really good tropes and it could be an amazing story but ended up being a disappointment. . .

I didn't connect it the characters at all and the story was so messy and in almost every moment also boring.
The only thing that saved this of only being a 1 star ranting was after the chapter 20 when things FINALLY happen between the couple. And yes, they ended up being good and hot together but I was expecting so much more. . .

▬ 𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬: workplace/office romance (boss x secretary), forced proximity, obsessed boy, slow burn

Chloe St James (yes, that’s really her name) and Theodore Black have a strictly professional relationship where he makes unreasonable outside of work requests and she tries to resign. Because he’s been burned by a previous work romance.

The things that made this so difficult get through:

- He’s a duke heir and about to inherit a business empire. He’s everyone’s favourite because he’s so clever and hardworking but also awkward as hell and shy. It’s totally understandable why the board gives him a hard time. He’s a nepo baby.
- He’s family is like obsessed with her. They actively try to contrive situations for them to get together when his actual grandfather would most likely have been hella prejudiced against a commoner.
- Girl, in this economy, you have a well paying job that affords you a car, housing and 2 subordinates, how are you gonna quit with no back-up plan or alternate job lined up?? In LONDON?? Free housing in LONDON?? No. Honestly.

This book was kindly sent to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Falling for the boss was never on the cards, but here we are I guess…

For a month now, Chloe St James has been trying to hand in her resignation to her boss Theodore Black, Vice President of Black Ink Corporation and future Duke of Ruxleigh. And for a month now, Theodore has refused to accept it, truly emphasising why she wants to quit in the first place. Theodore may be passionate about his job, but he’s an ice-cold boss and Chloe is sick of being at his beck-and-call 24/7. Just when she thinks she’s going to be stuck as Theodore’s assistant for the rest of her life, she’s finally handed her out. But it comes at a cost - her resignation will be processed after she returns from a six week business trip with Theodore as they establish a new branch of the company. Oh and to top it all off, they’ll be living together in one of his family’s cottages. It’s not the most ideal of situations, but Chloe takes it in her stride. Living in such close quarters, Chloe starts to see a completely different side of Theodore as he begins to show her that he’s not just the cold-hearted boss she comes to know. But whatever happens between them at the cottage isn’t necessarily going to translate to life back in London…

Y’all know I can’t say no to another romp in Emma’s Aristoverse! And while I always say to read companion series/universes in publication order, Emma has made it really easy to dive into any of the books (outside the original trilogy) without feeling totally lost about the world she’s created. In fact, this installment feels the least connected to the previous books because there are very few mentions and references to previous characters. And to be honest, I totally forget it was part of the Aristoverse until I started reading it!

I’ll admit, it took me a little bit to get into Chloe and Theodore in terms of their feelings towards one another and their boss/employee dynamic - it kind of felt like Emma threw us in the deep end and didn’t throw the life ring out quiet far enough for us to reach. But once I got into the flow of things, I really enjoyed following these two break down each other’s walls and getting to know one another outside the office. They had really great chemistry from the get-go, and once they were stuck in each other’s orbits 24/7, that sexual tension and flirty banter increased tenfold, although it was a bit of a slow burn.

One of the things I always love about Emma’s rom-coms is the inclusion of a quirky/fun/nosey grandparent, and here we had Theordore’s grandfather, the Duke of Ruxleigh, who was an absolute riot! The dynamic between Theodore, his father and his grandfather was really fun, and I loved how invested the Duke was at playing matchmaker to officially have Chloe as part of the family. Nosey and slightly overbearing parents/grandparents can sometimes ruin the flow of a good romance, but Emma always finds a balance with these characters, and they’re always a joy to get to know.

While I’m 100% still in my yeehaw era, I’m very much enjoying entering a mini-era of workplace boss/employee romances! It’d be a HR nightmare IRL, but I am LIVING for them when it comes to the world of fiction! The forced proximity, the tension, the subtle flirty banter, the underlying attraction - it’s all here in spades!

If you’re ready to dive into the world of the British aristocracy, you won’t want to miss out on the world that Emma has crafted! Whether you start here or back at the very beginning, you’ll love every minute of the upper class drama and swoony dukes/future dukes that we are introduced to.

You're the Boss is a cute, fluffy antagonists-to-lovers (though we're supposed to believe that he actually "loves" her the whole time, it's absolutely more of an elementary school-style of "love" than the real thing) rom com that did keep me turning the pages, though I don't think it will end up being particularly memorable.

It is a bit whiplash-y how fast Chloe goes from straight up hating Theo to thinking he's not bad to...well, more--she does admit he's good looking from the start, but he's definitely got a stick up his posterior at work (along with OMG so much weaponized incompetence, both in and out of the office) and there is absolutely no way anything was ever going to happen between them if they'd just had an in-office work relationship, even if he continued to refuse to accept her letter of resignation.

(Which, don't get me started on that bit. It's OTT ridiculous and if businesses really do work like that...well, they shouldn't.)

But anyway.

Once they're on their work trip together (orchestrated by Theo's grandfather, the former president of the company and current Duke of Ruxleigh) of course everything comes together: they get to know each other for real, Chloe makes Theo stick to regular work hours, and they start to maybe make sense as a couple. They have quite a few cute moments and then start to have some hella steamy ones together, all with the end of the trip and Chloe's resignation hanging over their heads the whole time. Are they in a real relationship? Is this just a temporary thing? How will they ever figure it out?

(By communicating, of course. You know that's what it'll come down to. I know that's what it'll come down to. But our MCs will need someone to literally tell them that's what they will need to do for it to actually happen.)

So if you enjoy quippy banter and he's-making-you-call-him-a-car-while-you're-out-with-friends-because-he-likes-you vibes and believe that third act breakups are unnecessary in romances, this might be right up your alley. If you're a fan of Ms Hart's writing already, then absolutely give it a read--it's very much on-brand for her. As I said before, it's cute and fluffy and fun; as long as you don't examine things too closely as you read you'll probably have a good time.

Thank you so much Emma Hart for sending me this ARC!

You’re the Boss is the newest Romantic Comedy from Emma Hart and this author never disappoints, Chloe and Theo’s story was amazing and I laughed, swooned and absolutely loved it!

When Chloe’s overbearing boss once again refuses to accept her resignation, she has no choice but to agree to his grandfather’s plan: live with Theo, her boss, for a few months while they oversee a new company project and in exchange she will be able to find a new job. But the more time they spend together, the more Chloe realizes the man she thought to be cold-hearted man is actually a cinnamon roll and when they realize they might be more than just work associates, despite their constant bickering, they need to decide if they are willing to give in to their fiery attraction and give a relationship a try all the while trying not to kill each other and not to fall for each other.

Let me just say that this book had me hooked in the first chapter and didn’t let me go until the very end. Chloe and Theo’s story was absolutely amazing and I had so much fun reading it, their thoughts and banter had me laughing out loud so many times, these two were everything. I liked how the first few chapters were from Chloe’s POV and we got to see Theo from her eyes and then how different everything seemed when we got to his POV, I couldn’t stop laughing at how oblivious Chloe was at times when it came to him. I really liked Chloe as the main character, she was smart and sassy and some of her thoughts and actions were pure gold but Theo… he was the true gem here, he was a cinnamon roll hero and I loved how cute he was at times and the way he was pining for Chloe was everything, I was rooting for him so much. Theo and Chloe were amazing together and despite her extreme dislike for him as her boss I loved how perfect they were for each other, they bickered a lot but always had each other’s back and when they finally gave in to their attraction, the spicy scenes had me blushing at times, they were fire together. And of course, I can’t forget about Theo’s father and grandfather and Chloe’s cousin, Harvey, they were amazing supporting characters and made me crack up with their antics.

You’re the Boss is a really great romantic comedy with amazing characters, cute and spicy romance and laugh out loud banter, I absolutely loved it and already can’t wait for Emma’s next book!

Chloe St. James doesn’t like her boss. In fact, she dislikes him so much, she has been trying to resign for weeks . . . He’s cold and demanding. He never says thank you and expects her to drop everything when he needs her, even outside of the office. He just refuses to accept her resignation.

Theodore Black knows exactly why he won’t accept his secretary’s resignation. Not only is she exceptional in her job, he can’t imagine not seeing her every day. Yes, he knows she secretly has a not so nice nickname for him, but that doesn’t stop the secret feelings he has for her, even if he never intends to act upon them.

When an out of town project comes up, Chloe and Theodore find themselves roommates for the next six weeks and both quickly realize their office personalities are not all there is to know about one another . . . and lines are crossed that can never be forgotten.

Emma Hart’s newest romantic comedy in her Aristoverse was the perfect combination of witty banter, secret cinnamon roll boss and extremely sassy secretary with a bit of forced proximity and scheming grandfather all rolled up into a delicious office romance!

I always enjoy the banter rin Emma’s books and this was phenomenal throughout. It’s incredibly smart and witty and just enjoyable to read as you watch Theo and Chloe interact, as well as Chloe’s inner dialogue, which is hilarious! I really loved watching this couple discover things about one another in a new light as roommates and watching them start to see what everyone around them already knew. And the fact that the very uptight and bossy Theo is secretly a dirty talker . . . and that the sassy and always in control Chloe is there for it . . . yum!

You’re the Boss was classic Emma Hart and an incredibly fun romance from start to finish. 5 stars!

A steamy office romance with You’re the Boss even though much of the story takes place in a cottage in the picturesque Lake District when Chloe is told the only way she can escape her tyrannical boss Theo Black and resign is by spending six weeks setting up his family’s latest acquisition. Six weeks with the man she loves to hate, so much so she has him programmed into her phone as ‘The Bastard”. But is she about to find out there’s a fine line between love and hate.

I loved the role reversal in this book with the boss mooning after his secretary. Theo had definitely fallen first but after a previous office relationship had gone sour, he was reluctant to act on his feelings for Chloe…... plus he was under the impression that she hated him! It took the interference of his grandfather aka the Duke of Ruxleigh, who wanted Chloe as his granddaughter, so had decided Theo needed to hurry up and get with the programme and marry the girl, hence the six weeks together in the same house in the country. I loved Theo and Chloe’s relationship. It was obvious right from the start that Chloe wielded the power. He might’ve have been brilliant when it came to business, but he was inept when it came to household chores. Their banter was hilarious and chemistry steamy as they struggled to keep things on a professional basis.

There was so much I loved about this fun and spicy romcom, from Theo’s love of colourful socks to his newly discovered love of simulated farm games. His relationship with his grandfather was a joy to read. Their verbal sparring and creative insults with his poor father generally stuck in the middle trying to referee between them, not through choice but mainly because they had their spats in his office. The only thing that seemed to strike a healthy fear into any of the Black men was the threat of phoning their respective mother/grandmother/wives and judging by Chloe’s relationship with Theo she was going to fit right in.

This was cute. It’s been a while since I’ve read any Emma Hart and I forgot how fun her books can be. The set up was entertaining and the chemistry between Chloe and Theo was good. The bickering was entertaining and I liked how the forced proximity development allowed them to see another side of each other. The sex scenes were hot and well-written - there was a good steamy side to this book I hadn’t expected going into it.

I did find though after a while that the book became a bit bland; it meandered a little after the two characters developed a physical relationship and it felt a bit like the author wasn’t sure what to do next. I just wanted a bit more conflict and some drama, personally. Also, I had actually forgotten that one reason I’d stopped reading Emma Hart’s books was because I found her usual inclusion of a busybody, eccentric elderly character grating so I have to say that Theo’s grandfather did annoy me quite a bit whenever he was on-page.

But aside from that it was a very cute read – a bit boring in parts and not a lot actually happened but it was very fluffy and light and quite good fun overall.

Content Notes: Boss/employee, personal assistant, workplace, forced proximity, grumpy MC.

Favorite Quotes:

“Emily Grandstein gave our Chloe a papercut.” Cassidy paused, setting his tea in front of him. “I’ll contact an assassin immediately.”

Really, what’s gotten into him today? Is this poison? Are we going to die? Aren’t executioners always nice to their victims before they kill them? Is this our famed last meal before we’re dropped into a pit of lions?

Theodore Black had the kind of perfectly toned body that wouldn’t be out of place on a poster attached to the wall of a teenage girl’s bedroom. It was the body of someone who ate a good diet and worked out regularly but didn’t live and die by the gym. His shoulders were broad, and his back was toned, and there was just enough visible vein in his forearm to make a girl really stop and think about her life choices until now.

Henry the Eighth had more patience than you do, and he chopped off the heads of two of his wives.

My Review:

I am devoted to the well-crafted and engaging writing skills of Emma Hart and adore her clever arrangements of words as they are a true delight to indulge in. I find myself totally enmeshed during perusal and have fully enjoyed each of her tales that I’ve been lucky enough to get my poorly manicured hands on.

Her prose sparkles with wit through amusing barbs, humorous observations, wry quips, and snarky banter.

Her characters are admirable, adorably quirky, and well-developed, yet not above startling epiphanies along their path.

I am eagerly awaiting her next missive.

I absolutely loved this book. It was a great read to entertain for hours. It is filled with flirty fun and crazy antics.

Chloe has been trying to resign from her job for a month now and her extremely insufferable boss will not even acknowledge it. She is beyond frustrated. She is so tired of working for the man who is a big pain in her behind. So when an opportunity arises to get her resignation letter recognized she jumps at the chance.

Theo has been in love with Chloe since day one ten months ago. She has tried to resign so many times over the past month but he ignores it, because if he acknowledges it then she will leave him. He cannot imagine life without her in it. When his kooky grandfather gives her an out, Theo does his best to prove he can be a better person to her. Will he change her mind or will he loose her forever?

This book was sweet, fun and highly entertaining. The characters are a riot and the banter will have you in stitches. I would love to see a movie with this book. I bet it would be amazing. Chloe and Theo are so cute and the flirting is turned up to high. The supporting characters are a hoot and I just loved the grandfather, for he is a sneaky old man.

Emma Hart is the queen of Rom-Com and I love all of her books. I can't wait to see what she writes next. If you are looking for a fun and energetic read then this book is for you. It will provide you with many hours of entertainment.

Smart, Funny and Absolutely Fabulous!

Wow did I enjoy reading this book! It was so much fun! The banter and dialogue was hilarious and I loved how witty the characters often were. This is an office rom-com with a side of aristocracy.

Theodore Black is the VP of his family’s company. He is young, hard working, talented, handsome and overly demanding and nightmarish to Chloe, his executive assistant.

Chloe St James is extremely good at her job and enjoys the company and what she does, but what she doesn’t love is working for her demanding boss, Theo. She can’t wait to resign. Unfortunately that’s turning out to be more difficult than she planned because her boss doesn’t want to let her go. That is until her boss’s grandfather (her previous boss, The Duke) offers her a deal. Live with Theo for 6 weeks while working with him on a new project that will help solidify his standing in the company and he’ll make sure she can resign. Plus he’ll help her get a new position. This is the perfect offer for Chloe. Surely she can handle living with her annoying boss for 6 weeks? Plus she loves Theodore’s family and truly thinks he deserves his position even if he’s a thorn in her side.

This was a bit of a slow burn, but it’s the kind that really pays off well. If you like a grumpy/cinnamon roll MC’s then look no further because Theo has it all. There was plenty of hot tension and steam! I really loved Chloe and Theo figuring out their attraction, relationship and what they’re doing to do about that in conjunction with their jobs. Chloe was hilarious and so smart except maybe when her own love life is in play. I loved all the characters in this book and I’m so sad I’m already done reading it because I really want more. This is a must read!!

It's been a long time since I read a book by this author but I definitely enjoyed the chemistry and banter between Theo & Chloe. But I also enjoyed the side characters a lot as they brought something more to the table which definitely kept me going as at times I got a bit lost. It was a fun story that had a romantic feel about it but I enjoyed reading Theo & Chloe's journey throughout.

Chloe's ready to give up her job but only has one problem; her boss Theo doesn't seem to accept her resignation. So far every attempt, she has gotten nowhere and she has even tried to get the help of his family, but to no avail. When Chloe needs to go on a trip with her boss, she may finally be able to get what she wants although she'll need to stay in the same house and that might be a challenge after all. Theo has always valued Chloe's work and while he's hiding a secret, he's glad they'll have some time away together, even if it's a work trip. As Chloe's slowly seeing a change in Theo, it seems they may have more in common than they thought. Theo will do whatever it takes to change Chloe's mind of resigning and as their relationship is slowly changing, feelings have started to show between them. Will Theo be able to change her mind and will their relationship stand a chance in the end?...

You're The Boss by Emma Hart is a fantastic romantic comedy that had me chuckling, swooning, and more! Chloe and Theo are such a good match!

Chloe is feisty, sassy, and extremely competent at her job. She's got attitude, is sweet, but hides it as she tries to get the life she deserves. She feels beholden for kindness she's been shown in her life, and watching her learn how to accept it was lovely.

Theo is a curmudgeon and icy, but boy oh boy is he gooey and a sweetheart underneath the surface for the one woman he can't get off his mind! And when he becomes playful? Be still my beating heart! It's swoonworthy!

The close proximity, only one cabin, work trip with the boss tropes were done well, making me smile as I got to navigate the characters' journey with them. Chloe and Theo's chemistry sizzles everywhere, but when they're together exploring one another it is explosive!

I enjoyed the twists and turns of who pursued who, who was seeing what was right in front of them, who was trying to hold back, who felt they were doing the right thing even when it felt like an additional new barrier. I hope you enjoy this office/boss/assistant romance as much as I did!

P. S. I want a grandfather wingman like this one!

Finally, a new book from Emma! I felt like I was missing a little bit of backstory between these characters, and I’m not sure if there are books for some of them, but after the initial confusion, I started to really enjoy this book and seeing where these characters would go! Chloe has been trying to give her resignation because she can no longer work under her horrible boss, Theo. Theo has taken over the family business and has become quite the work horse both through himself but also his expectations of Chloe and the other assistants. Theo’s grandfather gives Chloe a final task – travel with Theo for one last work project and he will override Theo’s decision on accepting her resignation, giving her the ability to put her notice in, and she agrees. I love how sneaky Theo’s grandfather is – seeing that Chloe and Theo are perfect for each other and forcing them into close proximity to get to know each other on a personal level and potentially develop a relationship, especially after he finds out that Theo is attracted to her. While I started the book slightly confused, by the end I was really rooting for this couple and was so happy with how things ended for them!

Seppy's 5-Star Review:

Chloe St. James boss is a demanding, cold man who she feels doesn't appreciate her at all. He calls on her after hours to drop everything she is doing when he needs something.  She has been trying to resign for weeks and he refuses to accept her resignation letter. Theodore Black won't accept Chloe's resignation. She is an excellent administrative assistant. But his main reasoning is that he can't imagine not being able to see her daily. Theo has secret feelings for Chloe but doesn't act upon them and tries to remain professional. Until Theo's grandpa assigns Theo and Chloe to an out-of-town project for the next 6 weeks and the kicker is they will be roommates too. What happens when the lines blur and Chloe sees a different side to Theo?

Emma's books are always a great read and this one doesn't disappoint. I love the fun and witty banter between Chloe and Theo. I loved reading this one. The characters were so loveable. Yes, even stiff and cold Theo thaws by the end of this one.  I couldn't get enough of this one and read it cover to cover and enjoyed every minute of this one.

Went in with high hopes. Ended with some disappointment. I liked Chloe to a point. She was good at her job and seemed to have the best interests of the company she worked for at heart. Her depicting Theodore as a demanding boss was a bit puzzling. She excelled at handling his needs, but then complained when he had her utilize them? She complained a lot and was not without her own issues that were never really addressed. Her not realizing he was smart enough to know she was being sarcastic was a bit much. He didn't get where he was by being obtuse. Chloe also was very dense when it came to the opposite sex being attracted to her. For a teenager or someone in the early 20's, okay, but not someone closing in on 30. She also ran away and had her own temper tantrums that Theodore never called her out on. I felt like a relationship should be a 2 way street and this one was just her bossing him around and then complaining about him the whole while. I wanted more of her stepping up and less of him constantly placating her. Snarkiness doesn't make a female a strong person, putting yourself out there does.

3.5 I randomly came across this and hadn't read anything by this author before, so I figured why not. Chloe is a very efficient secretary (who is no no-nonsense and gets stuff done). The boss, or "bastard" as she refers to him is also very demanding which adds to her stress. But he has a crush on her and has liked her from the start even though she is clueless.. then things change between them when they are "forced" to live together. What's interesting for me is that then he becomes needy and sensitive and seems to undergo a big personality change, while Chloe seems to remain the same- no-nonsense, more logical than emotional. Sort of interesting to see that dynamic play out.

I liked that there was no third act conflict, and there was some funny banter/snark..but seemed to fizzle out a bit..not sure why. I feel like there should have been a bit more to it? Toward the middle/end it seemed like it was mostly them trying to figure out what should we do this/where should we go with this, but not doing a great job communicating about it. Then it gets figured out.
A bit of a boring end. Sort of just quietly fizzled out for me. odd. Don't know how else to describe it.

Chloe works as a secretary to Theo who is Vice-President of the Black Ink Corporation and has been putting in her resignation for a month but every time she does, Theo denies it. Giving him the name, The Bastard. Their company took over Adair Travel and Theo is going to be the director and is tasked to turn it around within two years. So, the two of them go and oversee the renovations that is being undertaken. During their time away from London, she realizes that Theo is a cinnamon roll at heart and his true feelings about her come about.

After I read the book, I found out that this was part of a series and then understood why I felt like I missed some backstory on some of the characters. Emma Hart slays at writing banter and the banter between all of the characters in this book was fantastic! I loved the relationship Theo has with his dad and grandpa, the three of them together are hilarious! I loved the true reason as to why Theo kept denying her resignation ❤️ I thought Chloe was a strong and independent fmc and I enjoyed her character so much! Theo *Swoon* He is a true cinnamon roll hero and the things he does for Chloe is incredibly sweet and I thought his love of decorative socks was so funny! I thought You’re the Boss was sweet, funny and there was great spice! I absolutely love Emma’s books!

Youre the Boss by - Emma Hart.

I cannot even explain the obsession I have with this author. I have been in love with her writing for years I mean years. I came across her books years ago when my son first got diagnosed and she has been my go to author when I want a great book to keep my mind occupied and to brighten my spirit. Her stories always make me laugh out loud so much my son thinks I’m crazy at times. I have recommended her to so many of the nurses I have met through out the years because they have heard me laughing so much while reading. So with book it was no different I was laughing so much at the crazy antics. I mean I absolutely love Chloe and Theo and they had me laughing so much one of the nurses asked what I was reading so I had to tell her to grab the book and of course sing my praise to the author. I loved Theo’s grandfather he was one of my favorite people. I mean who doesn’t love a sneaky old man in acute way of course. I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down. I laughed so much and would highly recommend.

Chloe, the female lead, has a contract requiring her to give written resignation notice to her boss, the vice-president of the company and male lead, Theo. But Theo is determined to ignore it; he wants her to stay and not just because she’s coolly efficient and fantastic at her job.

When Chloe is told her resignation will be accepted if she spends six weeks assisting Theo offsite in reestablishing a company they’ve just acquired, she’s elated. But familiarity is making her reconsider her hatred of him…

Theo has been interested in Chloe but never acted on it because she was his direct report plus he’d been burned before. But he doesn’t want her to just go…

This story is dual POV (majority female lead), well written, and a true contemporary office romcom that left me chuckling regularly. I enjoyed Chloe's changing perspective on Theo. I enjoyed Theo’s attempt to rebalance their relationship. I enjoyed their intimate dynamics and the playfulness they enjoyed. I enjoyed Chloe’s confidence and assertiveness.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

Chloe has reached the point of no return when it comes to her difficult boss’s unreasonable expectations and cold attitude. She wants to resign and is not certain why he will not accept it and if that isn’t enough the only way that it will happen is if she goes on an extended business trip with him where they will not only be working together but living together as well.

Theo acknowledges that he is not easy to work for however he also is not ready for Chloe to walk out of his life. Living with her will push the parameters of their relationship from professional to personal and now they must decide where they go from here.

The interactions between them were amusing as Theo shows Chloe that she only knows part of who he is and the more she learns the more intriguing he becomes. There are also some quirky secondary characters which add some additional humor to the story.

What a fun read! Emma Hart sucks you in to this book that you won't want to put down. It's such a lighthearted fun read.

Chloe is the assistant to the Vice President at this company. It just so happens that the Vice President is Theo, who also happens to be in line to inherit the Dukedom. The Duke is his grandfather and a funny meddlesome man. Theo also happens to be nicknamed the "B*stard" by Chloe because he's so demanding and never complimentary. Chloe has tried to resign but Theo won't accept her resignation because she's great at her job or is there more to this....

Theo has to launch a new company far away from where he lives. He will be moving there for 6 weeks to get the company launched. Grandfather is sending him with Chloe to help the launch go well. However, Grandfather is also hoping that Theo will finally figure out how to charm Chloe and give him a granddaughter that he loves.

A quick, fun read!

I’m always feeling so/so about royalty/aristocrat books, maybe cause that’s just not my jam. But this one?! So freaking good! The Duke was one of my favourite characters & he had me cracking up anytime he graced the pages!

At first I was definitely not a fan of Theo. His refusal to accept Chloe’s resignation & overall cold abruptness made it hard to see how anything could ever work out between these two. Plus Theo had probably the best kept secret crush ever. I would have never known until we were told.

The change between these two was sudden but there’s a fine line between love & hate! Their banter was hilarious & I loved how much of a ball buster Chloe was. It was fun, lighthearted & hilarious read! I enjoyed it from start to finish!

GUESS WHO IS BACK?! Me. Me finding perfect books that's who.

Im in my office romance era 🥰🥰🥰
(Plus the added royalty didn't hurt)
Thank goodness for hidden gems like these, where I fall in love with people and don't want to let them go. Let's give a round to COMMUNICATION! And especially when it's ACKNOWLEDGED MY THE HERO AND HEROINE. It is so sexy when people are smart. The side characters were everythingggg and I loved gramps. This is one of those books that i wished happened to me, because it was real, and it was genuine with everything that happened. I loved the writing- even if I can't read in British- but I will definitely be reading more from the author. You have my consent and permission to enjoy this♥️

Now, I need me a boss man. NEXT BOOK PLEASE!

You’re the Boss is a rather entertaining story with witty banter. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book especially the initial animosity Chloe has towards her boss, you could definitely cut the tension with a knife. Her boss Theo Black has a secret. And wait till you find out why he is the way he is. You know how they say you don’t know someone properly till you live with them? Lets just say Theos indoor persona is quite different to his work persona!
Honestly this book is why I enjoy reading, especially lighthearted rom coms. Yes there is sizzling tension and steamy moments but also funny parts especially where family and friends are involved.
I enjoyed it immensely!

Not perfect because there were quite a number of typos that slipped through

But yeah this was a cute and adorable romance with some appropriate spice. The banter is top tier and had me guffawing and smiling in public while I was reading this. Theo was insecure and kinda stupid, but he really was head over heels in love with Chloe. They fixed their issues with COMMUNICATION!!! After a bit of not communicating, they learned their lesson and talked things through.

There’s a bit that kinda dragged. Their stay at the cottage was kinda draggy, but aside from that, it was a good way to see how their dynamic changed and developed.

Gramps was the best wingman hahahaha
