MINISERIES PREMIERE Down-on-his-luck rideshare driver Jerry Hauser’s existence is a bleak one…especially because every fare he picks up tells him how much he looks like uber-successful self-help guru Darren Hart. But after a twist of fate, Jerry is given the chance of a lifetime…which, if he’s not careful, may well end his lifetime. So begins this California noir—a rollicking and gleefully lurid pulp crime story for our time.
Jesse Kellerman was born in Los Angeles in 1978. His award-winning plays have been produced throughout the United States and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Picked this up on a whim - well, mainly because of the handsome man in the cover art. But I was drawn into this comic mystery. No spoilers but there is mistaken identity, death and plenty of quips.
This is fresh new story, and the art is fantastic. Having read many comics over the years, it’s rare to find someone doing something new, but still keeping to the look and feel of the genre. Jesse Kellerman is a well-known author stepping out of his comfort zone, and I think he hit it out of the park. I am very much looking forward to Image 2!
