The Hometown Heartless #2

Of Heartbreak and Harmony

Rate this book
He burned me once.
This time, I won’t be the one consumed by the flames.

Torren King is rock-and-roll’s broodiest bachelor.
Mysterious, moody, and coveted by nearly everyone.
But to me, he’s just the sad boy who set fire to my heart,
then reduced me to ashes in the desert.

For four sweltering nights, I burned for him,
and he conquered my heart one whispered lyric at a time.
But on the fifth night, he shattered me in the way only a flawless rock god
irreparably, and with devastating finesse.

Four years later, the last place I expect to be is sitting before him,
reading through a contact with a pen poised in my fingertips.
A favor for a favor, he says.
A US tour and a fake relationship in exchange for the answer to all my problems.

I hate him. I hate that I need him.
And what I hate the most?
He doesn’t remember me. At all.

But despite the burning chemistry between us,
the rapidly blurring lines and the suffocating attraction,
He’s still the rock star who ruined me.
I refuse to let myself forget.

Brit Benson writes real, relatable romance novels. She likes outspoken, independent heroines, dirty-talking, love-struck heroes, and plots that get you right in the feels.

Brit would almost always rather be reading or writing. When she's not dreaming up her next swoony book boyfriend and fierce book bestie, she's getting lost in someone else's fictional world. When she's not doing that, she's probably marathoning a Netflix series or wandering aimlessly up and down the aisles in Homegoods, sniffing candles and touching things she’ll never buy.

pi-Zap-5 'O𝐅 𝐇E𝐀R𝐓B𝐑E𝐀K A𝐍D H𝐀R𝐌O𝐍Y' Is a full length rockstar fake relationship romance book. Spoken in dual perspectives. Torren 🎶 Callie

This book had been on my radar since the cover dropped, to the blurb, throw in the early teaser reviews and my anticipation levels were beyond normal, one clicked, plus if you've not read a book by this author your missing out, then I dived in and inhaled it in no time at all, this author has such a unique storytelling ability which pulls you in effortlessly, her characters are unforgettable and relatable.

August has so far been my favorite month for releasing the books I've been craving..

I haven’t read a rockstar romance in a long time so this definitely hit the right spot, and definitely has me wanting to read the next book coming in this series.

Once I started this I was pulled in
I couldn’t put it down
I loved these two together

Sav and Torren were toxic, Torren and Callie were made for each other, a past that pulled them into the future, a fire that never extinguished. Their story wrung havoc on my nerves and put my heart through the wringer, but what love story doesn't have their fair share of angst, and this was no different, it scorched the pages..

If Brit Benson writes it, I'm going to read it.

The tension and the angst in this one was top notch! I really enjoyed the characters and the build up.

I did find the book to be a little lengthy and drawn out. I also didn't understand why it kept mentioning that Sav was eyeing Callie up like she was competition, like she was sizing her up when Sav found her happily ever after with Levi in book 1. I got a little annoyed by that.

Overall, I really liked this book, it had a lot of my favorite tropes and it was written by one of my favorite authors.

Thank you Brit and The Author Agency for the ARC!

"You're mine, Firebird, and he knows it. I'm just waiting on you."
"In your dreams, King."
He nods. "Yep. Every single one of them."

Brit Benson is an author I discovered this year and I really can't believe it because it feels like l've been reading her work for years. And every time she releases a book, it becomes my new favorite.
Of Heartbreak and Harmony was no different!

This is a gritty, angsty, second-chance romance and I devoured it. After reading that prologue, I was not able to put this book down. Talk about a hook!

This book can be read as a standalone, though I highly recommend reading Between Never and Forever first as we first meet Torran there. He was such a complex and volatile character. He and Callie met years ago at a music festival and shared a few brief days together. But it was during a time when Torran was using, so he doesn't really remember her.

A chance encounter and a struck deal later and these two are thrusted into each other's lives again.

I enjoyed every page of this story. The pacing was perfect and Brit's writing is perfection.

OMG...the piano scene at the end?! Dead!!!

Vibes:
Almost Famous with Kate Hudson
Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I cannot recommend this book highly enough if you're looking for a gritty, angst-fest of a read that doesn't hold back! And a kick ass love story!

*Full ARC Review*

Let's just start of this review by saying once I started reading this book, I couldn't stop.

I rarely read many books with fake dating but this book definitely became a favorite. Callie & Torren's relationship was just filled with angst, tension & all the feels. I was unsure about Torren but once the dust settled he definitely became a favorite book boyfriend of mine.

I love Brit's writing, how she makes us fall in love with her characters but also leaving us at the edge of our seats. I was in her DMs she's knows. 👀👀

This book can be read as a standalone, however I would suggest reading Between Never and Forever first.

"And I like you, Calla Lily Sunrise James."

I AM OBSESSED. I never want to leave this world. EVER.

”She quiets the storm in my head, and that’s how I know for sure. What’s happening between us is something real. Something solid. We’re not headed for heartbreak. We’re not dissonance. We’re harmony, and I have to let myself trust it.”

Torren is the bassist is one of the world’s biggest rock bands. He can get anything in the world that he wants. And quite frankly, he does.

When he runs into our FMC Callie for the first time, the attraction is instant, for both of them. But our girl Callie makes him work for it. And they have the best few days together. Until it all goes up in flames.

Now here we are years later and they are being brought together in the worst way. Torren needs Callie and only her to be his fake girlfriend. And he makes her a proposition that she can’t turn down.

How will these two tour together for months without any drama?

Torren is an absolute rockstar in all types of the word and the way he slowly falls in love with Callie and supports her unconditionally is beautiful. Callie has always had a crush that turned into hate, and seeing her fall back in love with Torren was so powerful.

I loved seeing all of the members of The Hometown Heartless and I am chomping to get my hands on Jonah’s story because I know that’s going to be an emotional one!

“Torren Fucking King made me fall head over feet in love with him. He gave me strength when mine was faltering. He played my bass notes when I couldn’t. He was my harmony when all I heard was dissonance. He’s my love song.”

Another day, another story that has left me a stumbling, fumbling, loss for words, emotional, lovesick, bookish hungover mess. One of my favorite reads of 2024!
I am so utterly and irrevocably obsessed with Brit’s words and worlds. Being back inside one of her worlds was just pure absolute bliss.

I was prepared for broody, sexy rock star Torren. But, broody, sexy, in love, completely head over heels gone for his girl Torren, baaaaaaby!!!
Nothing could have prepared me for that man. There was so much more to the man behind the brood. Romantic Torren, pour out his heart and soul Torren is a force to be reckoned with. That man put in overtime work for Callie’s forgiveness, affection and heart. His incredibly heartfelt words touched my soul and at one point brought me to tears with their beauty.

Brit knows if it’s one thing she’s a skillful beast at, it’s giving good angst and I was here for every second of it with Torren and Callie. Their story was passion, emotion, messy, humor, heartbreak, strength, courage, love and just every feel that’s possible to feel.

Calla Lily Sunrise James was an absolute spitfire full of independence, grit and determination. Although, we definitely had beef at times. She was like an onion, so many layers to be peeled. Prickly to where you wanted to keep your distance. But, at the same time, it was completely impossible not to adore and love her. Though, I’ve come to expect nothing less from a Brit Benson heroine. Callie had nothing but hate for Torren and everything Hometown Heartless. But, I swear it was something about that hate that made for this delicious back and forth between Torren and Callie.

The flashbacks were done in a way that was seamless and gave the perfect insight as to how things ended up in the present. They also did a perfect job as the supporting foundation for Torren and Callie’s love story. Their growth from the beginning to the end was absolutely incredible.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t give mention to chapter 33-35 cause Brit maam, exsqueeze TF out of me…you did not come to play. Lemme find out some. (IYKYK) The spice was spicing off the charts.

I loved being reunited with the band…it was like being back with family. Their bickering, their fun, their camaraderie, their love, their fights and the way they rode hard for each other. My gawd it just melted my heart.

This book completely consumed me wholeheartedly from the first word of the prologue to the last word in the epilogue.

My heart hurt so bad when I got to that last page and had to say goodbye cause I already NEED back in this world BAAAAAD.

brit wrote torren and i immediately fell in love. 10/10 would bang torren motherfucking king.

one of my favorite parts of the book is the sibling relationship between the fmc and her sister glory. it’s so realistic 🤣 glory bell was such a sassy icon. i hope brit writes a book for her eventually.

My only con of the book is that like halfway thru it felt like there was a pace change? and I just wanted a tad more angst between the characters getting together.

Holy shit cakes Batman! Brit has freaking done it again. I’m in awe of the flawless way she takes a character that wasn’t a fan fave and creates magic. The layers of this fictional character shine through as if they’re tangible. And brick by brick you are shown someone worthy of everything…It’s a gift that Ms Benson has perfected. And scorching hot scenes that bring the level of p to the v to extraordinary heights. 🔥🔥 all the tingles lol. I loved this story and can’t wait to see what she brings next. LOVE!!

I forgot how much I love a good Rockstar Romance and this one was perfect! I simply could not put this book down, which shouldn’t be a surprise since Brit Benson has become a one click author for me.

When Callie literally crashes into Torren there’s just something about her that makes him want to know more so when he ends up needing a fake girlfriend she seems like the perfect choice. Callie has some mysterious damage with him and the band but she can’t turn down the money they’re offering her to go on tour with them and enter into this PR relationship.

This book has all the fake dating, forced proximity, hot as hell rockstar goodness. And when Torren ultimately decides that Callie is his, there is no changing his mind. And his devotion to her in the second half of this book is the epitome of romance. I’m truly obsessed with that man.

And the spice? There is a scene in this book that will forever live in my head rent free and has me so excited for Jonah’s book!

I highly recommend this one (and Brit Benson in general of course)

If you haven’t read Between Never and Forever yet definitely read that one first! It’s also amazing!

I’ve literally have never read a Brit Benson book that I haven’t absolutely loved, but I have to say this one was disappointing. I really wasn’t feeling the chemistry at all between these characters. Torren and Callie’s personalities really didn’t seem to fit together. And you could really see Callie’s insecurities in this book. (Long past the time where they were warranted) I found her character a bit insufferable honestly.

I felt like we didn’t have enough moments actually building up their relationship, it was just an insta attraction at the festival, they had sex, then they met again, Torren did some grovelling, then all of a sudden they both like each other. I just felt these two were really bland which is crazy as I felt that Torrens character had so much potential. But they were very dry honestly.

The threesome scene was spicy, but their relationship just didn’t make sense to me, and it was so boring. I felt like a lot of time was wasted in this book on the conflict with Jonah, and him being incorporated instead of having bonding moments between Torren and Callie. Jonah just didn’t need to be in this as much, his part in this book was weird.

I kept expecting Torren to let his walls down from the start of this book, (as when Callie first meets him he’s distant and doesn’t say too much) but it turns out he’s just a boring character. Even when they got to know each other I felt they just didn’t have that chemistry, and Callie didn’t seem to fit with Tors personality. Like what is he, this druggie rebel rockstar, or actually a kind nice guy with flaws, I felt like they didn’t actually explore that in the book.

This book just honestly gave me the ick, instead of feeling like Torren actually loves Callie, I honestly just felt he viewed her as a sexual object throughout this book. It really seemed out of nowhere that he now “loves” her. I truly think this book had potential to be angsty, but I feel the author got confused along the way, and I just really wasn’t feeling the chemistry or interested in the story. Which is sad because I absolutely ADORED between never and forever! There was SO much chemistry in that book, and the characters really developed their relationship, and you truly felt that Levi loved Sav.

This book had absolutely no angst, and by the end of the book, I just couldn’t bring myself to care about Callie and just wanted to finish the book. I have to say not one of my favourites from Brit Benson, which I really never thought i would say. Here’s to hoping for better ones in the future! 🫡🫨

Favorite Quote:

Callie and Torren first meet at Artfest and have a whirlwind romance filled fire and substances that ends in total heartbreak.. fast forward 5 years Callie runs into him (literally) and he has no idea who she is but he does know he needs a fake girl friend to help with a PR situation and she's the girl for the job. She hates him but she doesn't hate the 80k he's willing to make her for the role. she needs the money.. he needs the GF..

IDK how Brit does it EVERY TIME BUT SHE DOES. How can she make a 480 page book read like a fcking novella? it read SO FAST and I simply couldn't put it down til I finished it. It was so fast paced and so addictive that it had you running to the next chapter to know how it was going to play out.

Callie my sweet sweet Callie I wanted to give her the BIGGEST hug so many times with all she went through.. she didn't know how broken the man she was falling for was until it was to late and Torren man I wanted to shake the ever loving shiz out of that man but also i wanted to give him a huge hug because we know from reading the first book how broken he was over Sav.

I could literally keep talking on and on about this book but all you need to know is it's a MUST read.. ok?

Well, Brit went and did it again! She made me fall in love with a character I wasn’t sure I could love.

Way to prove me wrong, B. Damn you!

We met badboi Torren in BNAF, but we get sadboi Torren in OHAH—and I’m 100% here for it!

WHAT I LOVED:
🎵 The way the author beautifully blends glimpses of the past with the present. Each flashback was very thoughtfully placed in such a way that it adds to the angst, provides a deeper understanding of the character’s emotions, and allows us to see how far these characters have deviated (for better or for worse) from the paths they were on in the not too distant past.
🐦‍🔥The classic forced proximity/enemies to lovers combo! It’s such a fave of mine—watching the characters learn to better understand each other (albeit under protest, lol) and inevitably fall in love is my catnip. GIMME! But also, simp-y sadboi Torren is my faaaaavoite side of Torren!
🎶 Seeing The Hometown Heartless crew again! Gah! I can’t get enough of Sav, Mabel, Torren and Jonah! And boyyyy do we get to see more of Jonah—the little snippets we get have me SO INTRIGUED for his book!
🔥 The steamy scenes, OBVIOUSLY. I would tell you which is my favorite, but I think you’ll be able to guess once you read the book 😎

This book will hold you captivated by its poetic imagery as well as the unbelievably hot chemistry between Torren and Callie. Prepare yourselves to get rocked by yet another book in The Hometown Heartless series!

I've only recently discovered Brit Benson's books, and I have to say that I'm constantly amazed at how much I love reading each of her books. The second book in The Hometown Heartless series, which centers on Torren King and Callie, is titled Of Heartbreak and Harmony. This book was quite the journey, and it was a journey of emotions!

I had so much fun diving back into the Hometown Heartless world and getting bits and pieces of old characters that I loved reading about. This was a narrative about a redeemable a-hole, which is what I love even more. Torren is such a jerk when we first meet him, but the book really shows you that he has a really sweet side as well. Despite her tough demeanor, I thought Callie's character was very unique and I truly appreciated her. Don’t even get me started on the spice! 🔥🔥🔥

If you love hate to love, slow burn, rockstar, and forced proximity I can’t recommend this book enough! I can’t wait to see what’s next for this series! 🫶🏻

After truly enjoying book 1 of this series the follow up fell way flat for me. The angst and depth of characters and plot that were present in book 1 just weren’t here at all. I liked Torren as a character but I felt like we needed to go deeper with him. All this talk in book 1 about how his brother raised him and how hard it was to kick him out of the band and we get no exploration of that relationship or his feelings about it. All we got was surface level Torren and I feel like it was such a missed opportunity to really craft a dynamic, well rounded character.

I also could not get on board with Callie. I found her so irritating and cringey. Like, girl, I get you were 19 at the time but you’re in a band, traveling all over playing shows, already low key living the lifestyle and you’re shocked and broken hearted that one of the biggest rock stars on the planet doesn’t remember a one time hook up with you from 4 years before that happened while you were both high as kites?? Omg stop. Why was she so pissed at him for that?? Did she truly expect to be the “special” one? Idk I found that so irritating. Then the constant badgering him about his hook ups since and how he’s shared with Jonah or how they used to play games and pick up girls. Going to speak to Savannah to “confirm” she and Torren are done. Like wtf. This makes you look like a desperate, jealous teenager. Not a good look. I actually skipped so many of her little high school tantrums. I felt like she and Torren had zero chemistry. I wasn’t invested in them as a couple at all.

The whole bit with the stalker at the end and her car accident was just so out of left field. It didn’t fit the story at all. Overall this was a missed opportunity all around and pretty underwhelming.

Another captivating 5-star read from Brit Benson in the Hometown Heartless Series, "Of Heartbreak and Harmony." This exciting rockstar romance had me engrossed right from the start! The vivid descriptions by Brit Benson allowed me to visualize the scenes, connect with the characters, and experience the moments as if they were my own. The entire story deeply touched my heart, leading to tears, especially towards the conclusion. The emotional journey, exceptional story, character development, and portrayal of true love make this a must-read. Don't miss out on this five-star read!

This book was everything I expected and more.

I’m absolutely loving the Hometown Heartless series and Torren and Callie’s story did not disappoint. Brit’s writing pulls you in from the first page and makes you feel like you are on the journey with the characters. Full of love, laughter and angst, it’s the perfect mix of everything, I was laughing one minute then tearing up the next.

A must read for all, I cannot wait for Jonah’s story.

“You’re mine, Firebird, and he knows it. I’m just waiting on you.”
“In your dreams, King.”
“Yep. Every single one of them.” -Torren

Of Harmony and Heartbreak is *chef's kiss*, I loved, loved, loved it! The angst, tension, banter and slow burn were so good. Brit Benson is a talented writer; her writing is beautiful and lyrical, making it effortless to be pulled into the world she created. Back-to-back at multiple scenes, I lost track of how many times I swooned, blushed and giggled (like a school girl).

If you read Between Never and Forever, then you know you'll need to read Torren's (MMC) story. Ahh... Torren King: the sexy, broody and wounded bassist; I didn't realise I was so eager to read his book until I read the first page. It was great to dive back into this world and see The Hometown Heartless gang/band, their life on the road and check on how Torren was doing and coping after what happened in book 1.

"We’re not headed for heartbreak. We’re not dissonance. We’re harmony, and I have to let myself trust it." - Callie

All the feels, full of passion, heartbreak, love, healing and a little misunderstanding, Callie (FMC) and Torren's relationship was rocky and messy. Callie can be prickly and is a complete spitfire, and Torren loves how she burns her fire. And the nickname he gave her: Firebird *swoon*. Callie sure did make Torren work for it! Who knew that this bad boy rockstar would be such a romantic? The gestures and surprises Torren did for Callie were amazing and thoughtful. And the way Torren and Jonah took care of Callie 🥵🔥 they most definitely worshipped her; Callie was a lucky girl.

"Torren F*cking King made me fall head over feet in love with him. He broke my heart once, but he’s mended it ten times over." - Callie

There are flashbacks until roughly about halfway through the book. The transition from past to present was seamless, giving a great insight into how/when they first met. Calla "Callie" Lily Sunrise James had been a fan of The Hometown Heartless, however, one particular band member piqued her curiosity: Torren King. Callie is also an artist (pianist/keyboard player) but unfortunately, she had to give up her dream, putting it on the back burner.

"Calla Lily James is my Firebird. She was burned into my chest four years ago, and even when I couldn’t grasp anything more than the smoky haze of a memory, she’d stuck with me." - Torren

Four years ago, Callie and Torren crossed paths at a music event. Callie caught Torren's attention; drawn to Callie, they spent time together talking or participating in activities. Oh! And let's not forget their heated moments. Then things ended badly, and it left Callie with a broken heart. Present time, Callie and Torren meet again: Torren doesn't remember her, and Callie holds a bit of resentment and a grudge. Now, they have to fake date each other and make it believable, easier said than done, especially when Callie has all these negative, bitter emotions towards Torren and the band. And Torren is desperate to understand Callie's hostility.

I think everyone needs a sister like Glory Bell 😆 This girl! Yes, sometimes I got annoyed with her behaviour, nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed her antics. She has so much attitude! She's a little miss-sassy; you don't want to be on her bad side. And the sneak peak! I am super pumped for Jonah's story!!!

Just amazing! Brit had such an away with words. Creating characters you easily fall in love with.
Torren and Callie brought all the feels with that story and I had such an array of emotions throughout.

I couldn’t put it down! This is another just read, so happy to be back with the Hometown Heartless.

Full Review To Come!

**UPDATE**

From the moment I read the prologue I was hooked and my heart went out to both these characters. Just an over all amazing read! Brit had such a way with words, creating characters you easily fall in love with.
Torren and Callie brought all the feels with this story and I experienced such an array of emotions throughout. I loved the mix of flashbacks so much, and getting that insight added such a great dynamic to the story.

Callie and Torren are such wonderful characters, you can feel the tension and attraction radiating off the page, right from their first meeting! I was so there for it all! Callie had been through so much, the way I understood her feelings was great. Torren is amazing, this cocky rockstar-who did not go without his own struggles-but when that man falls, he falls hard, and shows the best side of himself.

The flirty banter between Torren and Callie is everything. Their chemistry is so high, not only that, they have such a strong connection that I loved exploring with them. Mixed with the distrust, and some strong feelings of dislike (especially on Callie’s part) made for such an intriguing read. When the spice hits, it is steamy-Callie and Torren never failed to heat things up.

I truly didn’t want to put this one down. I found myself easily connecting with the characters. The way I felt so strongly for every single situation the author put them through the good, the sad and the difficult was wonderful.

Brit easily paints an in depth picture with her writing, the story played so vividly in my mind. I was so excited for this book and I knew I would love it, but am still surprised with how blown away I was with each chapter.

This was a great twist on a second chance, fake dating, rockstar romance. I was so happy to be back in The Hometown Heartless world. Be sure to read right to the end, and buckle up for Jonah’s book next!

I loved this book so much!! Reading Between Never and Forever a couple weeks ago I knew I immediately needed Torren's book and it was so good!!

In order to help with his and Sav's image, Torren get's Callie to go on tour with him and be his fake girlfriend. What he doesn't realize though, is that he knows Callie from four years ago. She remembers their time together, but he doesn't. Which makes her hate him even more than she already did and leads to that sweet slow burn tension we all love!

This had everything you would want in a rockstar romance: hot musicians with complicated relationship dynamics, emotional scenes, laugh out loud moments, spiiiicy spice, so much heart, and even some suspense! I loved seeing the flashbacks of when they met four years ago and how Callie slowly let Torren back in. She made him work for it but it was so perfect.

I loved Torren so dang much. The way he cares for the people in his life is so amazing, even when they don't deserve it. I loved how supportive he was of Callie but also how even though he's soft at times, remained true to his rockstar god self haha. And given everything that happened with Sav, it just made me so happy to see him happy! But Callie, my girl. She gives so much to her family and has gone through so much. It was so nice to see her do more for herself and go for what she wanted with Torren and in her career!

I also adored seeing Sav and Torren fix their relationship and work towards being the friends they were before. I do definitely recommend reading this series in order because I think it will give you a better appreciation for Torren and his journey! I really just love the whole Hometown Heartless fam and can't wait for Jonah's book! I have a feeling his could be a fave and should be verrryyyy interesting!

Thank you so much to Brit Benson and The Author Agency for the eARC!

🌟 4.25/5

🛑 Look at the author's trigger warning!!!

‼️ While this book could be read as a standalone, this is book 2 of the Hometown Heartless series.

ℙ𝕆𝕍: first person, dual perspectives

𝕄𝕪 𝕋𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤:
This book. Man, you are in for a full stage of emotions while reading this book. Seriously. I laughed, cried, wanted to throw my Kindle, and most of all, smiled. Brit's writing has a way of bringing it all out.

I really really enjoyed finally reading Torren and Callie's book. Who wasn't after getting the teaser at the end of the 1st book??? It left us all sobbing in frustration that this book wasn't out yet.😅

While I loved the book for the most part, I must admit that I wasn't a fan of how quickly both the characters' relationship played out after everything was revealed. We barely see the MMC and FMC together in terms of their relationship. At one point, it's written out as if weeks had passed after their 1st time together. Never mind the fact that their 1st time, they aren't alone. Yes, the scene was hot. I just wanted a little bit more of just the 2 characters together before the 3rd act, and everything happens (no spoilers, obviously).

Overall, I'm super excited to read the 3rd book of this series. I'm SUPER hesitant going in because we know who the FMC of the book will be about. I'll trust the process, but Brit must know all of her avid readers are side-eyeing her.🤣🫣

Thank you to the author for an ARC!❤️

Of Heartbreak and Harmony is book 2 of the Hometown Heartless series, and we finally get the highly anticipated Torren’s story.

We met Torren in book 1 as Sav’s ex and bassist of the Hometown Heartless band. We left him heartbroken at the end of book 1.

Calla Lily, aka Callie, used to be in a band of her own a few years back, but is now forced to work doubles at both her jobs in order to take care of her sick mom and 15 year old sister.

When she unexpectedly runs into Torren, her memories throw her back to a festival 4 years prior where they already met… but he doesn't seem to remember.

Oblivious to Callie’s reason for “hating” him, he offers her to go on tour with the band for a very specific reason… but she has to sign a contract!

I was very curious about Torren in book 1 and couldn't wait for his story. When I started the book I was kind of disappointed by the poor girl / rockstar trope that I seemed to have read countless times. BUT I was pleasantly surprised by the way the story was handled and laid out.

Torren’s character arc is beautiful to witness and the way he always organizes thoughtful surprises for Callie 😍😍 husband material!!

Callie could have fallen into the bratty / bitchy category so fast but didn't and I was so there for it!

Now I’m waiting for Jonah’s story and it can't come fast enough!! I'm so curious about his story and what’s on his mind!

I received a free copy of this book via The Author Agency and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The prologue is kicking and started the anxiety of how and when, and that’s the sign of the book being so good that I am not going to put it down until I finish reading and that’s exactly what I did. I put it down only when I was required urgently at home or couldn’t open my eyes at night. Hats off to Brit Benson.

I love her writing and her stories always steal my breath away, each and every one of them offers something new to hold on to. OHAH is so different and is emotional as hell. When I started the book, I was not expecting it to take so many turns and go through so many challenges but it did and came out with flying colours.

The best part was to meet Sav and Levi again and then Torren being an absolute sweetheart in the book. Callie is a strong, mind-blowing character, and knows how to question things even if they are hard to do. She excludes positive vibes throughout and when she adds Torren in the midst, it’s all fireworks.

The writing is amazing and the plot is captivating which keeps evolving as we move forward. The chemistry is just breathtaking and how they both deal with situations is flawless. The story moves from present to past and ties up excellently giving all the details at the exact time we need them. The HEA is inevitable and is written beautifully, covering all the bases and making me fall in love with these characters even more.

‘Glory’ is an amazing sister and I appreciate that she speaks what’s in her mind. She just amps up the environment and I love her for that. Also watch out for the sneak peek of the next book and I don’t think we are ready for it. At least I was not expecting it to be that. I am very curious now.

Brit’s writing continues to have a chokehold on me with this next novel in her Hometown Heartless series. She doesn’t take it easy on her characters, but that’s okay. Life isn’t easy, and it makes their accomplishments that much greater knowing the challenges and hurdles they’ve scaled.

If you’re looking for a good rockstar romance, this is the series for you. Torren King is the bassist for the Hometown Heartless, and when he needs a PR relationship to cause a distraction, a shadow from his past emerges in the form of Calla Lily Sunrise James. But you can call her Callie.

They had a rocky start, but oh man, did Torren step up. After his history with lead singer Sav Loveless, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but Torren King delivered! He certainly knows how to heat things up, and he’s not afraid to play with fire. Plus all of the little things he does for Callie had me melting.

I just loved them so much. Brit’s writing just does something to me. She writes her characters so well, flaws and all. And it’s those flaws that draw me in, that make me connect so much with her stories. I just love it so much and could gush for hours about this series. Just read it. PLEASE.

No one does angst better than Brit Benson, and she has easily become one of my favorites. The stories she creates are so addicting, and her characters are complex and amazing. If you’ve read the first book in this series, then you know Torren and that he is the bassist for one of the most popular bands. He was a conflicting character, but also so intriguing, and I was excited for his story. It did not disappoint! Every time I read the first book in one of Brit’s series, I kind of think to myself no way can she top this… and then she does.

Another second chance romance? Don’t mind if I do. I will never get tired of them. And I loved that in this one there’s a catch - Torren barely remembers Callie four years after their initial meeting, when he spent four nights with her 🙄 This is an emotional story, full of the best character development, and I couldn’t put it down. And don’t get me started on those spicy scenes 🔥 I can’t wait for the next! 🥰

Absolutely Amazing!!!

Infinity stars, absolutely amazing!!! This series easily has become a favorite of mine!!! I was not prepared for Torren King, God of Love!!! Holy moly, this broody, beautiful man blew me away. He threw me for a loop in this book! I was shocked at his character growth and how Callie made him a better man.

This story has soooo much heart. I’m glad we get glimpses of Sav, Levi, Mabel and Jonah!!! I really love them sooop much. They are the found family I never knew I wanted and needed.

Callie & Torren has some highs and lows. The highs are incredible and suck you in and make you swoon. The lows suck you into because you are routing for them. Routing for their happiness. Absolutely incredible! Brit Benson has easily become a top favorite author for me!!! Her writing is incredible!

holy shit. another 5 star read from Brit.
are we surprised? nope.

there’s a lot of reasons Brit is one of my favourite authors and this book just solidified every single one of them.
the angst, the tension, the spice… I inhaled this story and loved every second.

I laughed, I cried, I raged, I swooned.

I loved Torren and Callie, their history had me in tears, and the growth they show since they first met felt so true to both their characters and reflected in their relationships with the rest of the group.

I’m not gonna lie, dual timelines scare me but Brit does it so well that the story flows and fills in the gaps with perfect timing, and without sacrificing the pace of the story. and you know I’m a sucker for fake dating.

I need to shoutout my boy Jonah. alexa, play “but daddy I love him” by taylor swift. he was such a dick at times but I couldn’t help but love him anyway. (also the sneak peek for his book had me SCREAMING.)

it was great to see my faves Sav and Levi again, and build a better understanding of the (slightly dysfunctional at times) dynamic of the group following BNAF.

is it too soon to reread? 👀
