With Homecoming and everything else that’s been going on in their world, everyone is on edge. But what better time to take in a few Halloween traditions like watching scary movies and carving pumpkins? Maybe kissing can be a new Halloween tradition now that Sang has joined the crew…
Follow Sang and Kota, Victor, Silas, Nathan, Gabriel, Luke and North in this short slice of life story leading up to the homecoming dance.

It has been at least 5 years since I read Book #8 in the Ghost Bird Series, this was a series that first introduced me to the trope of Reverse Harem, and then of course like most people, new books come onto the scene and the older ones seem to fall into the book graveyard until something sparks and you feel like reading that author again. For me, I have been trying to clear older books off my kindle and reuniting with some old favorite. In Touch of Mischief, we see that danger had struck North and Silas and that if Sang hadn't been there, then we would have probably been saying goodbye to Silas. Now Sang has been having nightmares and worried about Silas. It is, however, Halloween which the team loves especially Lucas and Gabriel, and seeing as Sang has never experienced a proper Halloween, the boys including Mr. Green and Mr. Blackthorne are determined to make sure Sang experiences the whole Halloween to the extreme. I loved this part as since Halloween isn’t a big thing in New Zealand, I too have wished I could experience a US Halloween as it looks so much fun. As this was also a .5 book, it was also a nice quick read if you are wanting to satisfy yourself but don't want to spend the time reading a full-length novel. I enjoyed being reunited with the characters and this has spurred me on to continue the others in the series that have also been sitting on my kindle for years.

Upped from a 3 to 4 star on the re-read because this is really fun for a novella
Hmm...Halloween candy isn't the only super sweet thing that can cause cavities. I suspect reading about Sang and the boys on Halloween also could! But it does have super sweet feels if you are already into the series :)
UPDATE PROGRESS NOTES: (from omnibus, so % are off for novella alone) 79% "I don't understand how there can be blood and cuts on her chin, lips and cheeks without people knowing. I am pretty sure in Book 7 that she was going to be wearing a half mask that left the lips and chin and lower cheeks free? Continuity issue?" (later, it was specifically mentioned she had a full face white mask, but that was definitely a change from book 7)
1.0% "Seriously... all these traumatic events since she met the guys, all her past trauma and abuse, a diary filled with nightmares, and knowing she still has nightmares every night that make it hard to sleep... AND NO ONE HAS GOTTEN HER THERAPY YET?!! Come ON guys!"
I've really enjoyed this series so far. It's light and fun and come on, 7 dudes and one girl - all falling for her - yeah it's way too much fun.
However, now we are in book 7 and 1/2 of this series and Sang is starting to bug me. She acts so helpless and doesn't think for herself, and for a while that works because of her childhood and such, but it doesn't work anymore. Now it's annoying and frustrating and I don't like the message it sends. Sang needs to be more active in these stories. She is so passive.
She needs to grow up, make her own decisions, and move forward already.
I know this was just a teaser book so no true plot stuff happened and I did like this extra little story, but I do hope in book 8 Sang learns how to make a stand for herself and take action.
Touch of Mischief is a short story that takes place during House of Korba. I thought that Touch of Mischief was a really cute short that gave a glimpse into the workings of the Academy group and how Sang was integrating with them. It was a hilarious story that I was sad to see end. It was actually too short in my opinion (but probably because I am in dire need of more Academy boys!). In this short, we got a glimpse of how the boys celebrate Halloween, and it definitely got me excited to see what happens during Christmas. Overall, it was a cute and funny read that got me excited for the books to come.
This review is for the whole serie. It makes less and less sense the more you proceed, I dropped around book 8. The first few books are nice, but then it becomes absurd. I am at book 8 and maybe 2 months have passed. That's how slow it is.
A cute fun amusing short story of Halloween decorations and pranks on a group of friends as they are also getting ready for their first Homecoming Dance. Sang enjoys her first ever Halloween experience with horror movies and pumpkin carvings and her chance to prank her friends while also getting ready for her first major mission working with the Academy boys at the Dance. The guys reactions to one another while pranking is hilariously amusing and cute, they all are a definite family and it’s easy to see. The reactions to Sang’s prank is hilarious and needed right before they head off on mission together.
I have gotten very into reading Reverse Harem novels lately becasue of this series. It's super hard to find decent ones that don't just read like fan fiction and this series is quite good actually. This series is really good though, it is slow to develop but that allows for more books in the series which is a good thing. Both the characters and the story are fully fleshed out and well written. I'm enjoying becoming invested in this world and pleased that I discovered this author.
It was a cute short story about what happened the night before with the Korba family and the Homecoming dance. It really showed how the Academy boys do their Halloween’s and how now Sang is a part of their family.
It was really cute to see and I enjoyed the little moments with each of the boys with Sang.
It was nice to see Sang answer to their feelings of family and for once hope in the future that this will continue on.

I loved this short story! It was so cute and it just warmed my heart. I almost wish it would have been included in House of Korba. I read that first and I wish I would have stopped halfway through and read this one. I feel that my reading experience would have been better if I did. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it and I am glad I read it.
Loved this little bonus Halloween story with Sang and the guys. Set on Halloween, timeline is in the middle of "House of Korba", the next morning after the confrontation with Theo. Sang gets to experience a little taste of the team's Halloween traditions and loves every second.
It is always so easy to fall back into these books, even if only for a little while. I loved this little story. It makes your heart warmer to see how close all the guys are, closer than most families I might add. It just makes you feel good reading about their bond. Cannot wait for more books to come out!
Buy the books, does this story ever go anywhere? Will we buy the next one and re-read Halloween and Christmas and then wait some more? Will the next book( is there a next book?) repeat the the first Twelve books?
