“Encontro Fatal” é um livro escrito e desenhado pelo italiano Milo Manara (n. 1945), um “especialista” em banda desenhada em torno de mulheres bonitas, elegantes e sensuais, com “linhas” voluptuosas, com as histórias a decorrer em cenários exóticos e deslumbrantes, com enredos eróticos, muitas vezes improváveis e fantásticos. Muita da sua banda desenhada contém temas como bondage, sadismo, voyeurismo e “coisas” sobrenaturais, onde a tensão sexual está sempre presente.
Valéria é a mulher materialista e superficial, casada com Sílvio, um deputado recém-eleito, que acaba envolvido numa “teia” de dívidas, provenientes de um empréstimo, que não consegue pagar. Numa espiral de agiotagem, com credores sem escrúpulos e juros altíssimos, o agiota torna-se implacável na cobrança, e acaba por ser Valéria a “pagar” com o seu corpo, os atrasos na regularização da dívida – todos os dias pelas 18 horas, ela tem um encontro marcado com Ursus, um homem brutal, encarregue pelo seu chefe da cruel “tarefa” – estrupada de uma forma continuada e sistemática, com uma violência atroz.
Depois há um senador e a envolvente política, histórias e estratagemas que se cruzam, comportamentos dúbios, vinculados por mentiras e suposições que se vão materializando.
Em “Encontro Fatal” Milo Manara conta-nos uma história, que vai muito para além do erotismo, um enredo sexualmente explicito, por vezes, absurdo e primitivo no contexto físico e emocional, mas que tem um desenho irrepreensível e uma ilustração em que se pode “apreciar” as imagens dos actos sexuais, apesar da violência, do horror e da ansiedade de tais sequências, mas que nos sentimos impelidos a ler.

Plot: homem casado com problemas financeiros gravíssimos na qual está devendo um dinheirão para pessoas corruptas e sua esposa que não entende o seu drama e só sonha em ter uma vida de muito luxo.
Como punição ao marido, o chefão determina que enquanto ele não pagar a dívida, sua esposa será violentada todos os dias às 18h pelo mesmo brutamonte.
É aquele enredo bem tosco, mas o que vale a pena aqui é conferir a arte e ignorar o resto.

This is the work of Milo Manara, the famous Italian artist. Or should I say infamous, because those in the know, those who have read Heavy Metal magazine for a while will know that when Manara creates a new work, he doesn’t half-ass it on the nudity or sex. His work, I think, would be comparable to the modern day Tijuana Bible - aka comic book pornography - except Manara always wraps a story around it. Whether it’s for good or ill, that’s up to you. When I was younger it turned me on, was my first glimpse of raw sexuality without inhibitions. Nowadays it amuses me more than anything.
It begins with a young man with political aspirations and his attractive trophy wife leaving a dull party and engaging in some sexual play in his car on the way home. He's soon called to the carpet by a loan shark he's borrowed from, and the thug demands that the young woman deliver something her husband might need to the loan shark's house. The loan shark then decrees that until the young man's debt is paid, that his wife will be anally raped by one of the shark's goons on a daily basis. The rest of the comic is about this happening, and the woman recounting these experiences to the mentor of the young man, an older "senator" who hosts her on his yacht, to which she eventually flees to escape the goon after apparently at least several weeks of daily encounters. There is then the requisite twist at the end of the tale.
This book is purely for those who don’t blush at the erotic. The plot has as much believability as your standard porno film. Everything is arranged to get the clothes off the girl and a cock ready for penetration. Even those who are critical of Manara’s text cannot find fault with his art work. It is beautiful, light, and sublime. It is as if he is able to capture the emotions of the world and allow them to alight onto paper. He is simply a master of the craft.

Unnecessarily graphic. There’s no need to depict what happens so clearly and it ends up taking away from the story as one wonders if this is about the story or more about drawings of rape. The ending felt forced. Like one of those Indie short films that tries so hard to be edgy it just makes no sense in the end.

Un martirio. Un dibujo genial que se ve bastardeado por lo que quizás sea el peor guion de Manara. Juega a ser thriller, falla argumentalmente. Juega a ser osado (en forma de una violación que se repite a lo alrgo de todo el comic), falla retrógradaamente. Juega a ser porno salvaje, falla explícitamente. Juega a ser impredecible, falla.
Sencillamente esquivable.
