Probably a 3.5 on first reading. It sounded motivational at times but more similar to "The Secret". As much as a like this, i wanted a bit more structure. I'll be rereading it as i prepare to become a coach.

More than anything I want to be a successful life coach. Not just in the way of finances. No! Most importantly, as the professional that helps others to see themselves as dream realizers and goal achievers. I want them to complete their time with me knowing that they can and will go forward and have awesome, peace-filled and love-filled lives. Transformational Life Coaching not only gave me the insight on how to accomplish this goal of mine but Dr. Scott and Lynn Stewart helped me to understand that coaching is most effective when you know how to coach and understand yourself; when you "live the process". I enjoyed reading it and I believe that I am better for having read it.

Dr. Carter-Scott provides a great overview of the coaching experience from both the coach and coachee perspective. Her ideals are right in line with mainstream coaching except for a brief foray into describing the importance of chakras.

She focuses on what it takes to be a "brilliant coach." This is the coach that can make a real connection with their client to fully support lasting and meaningful change. What I liked best was her attention given to what a coach needs to do for "self care" to maintain the energy needed for these ongoing relationships.

If you're new to coaching or you're considering hiring a coach, this is a quick read and should let you know if you're on the right path.
