It began with a body of a sixteen-year-old girl found in a cabin. Her wounds and manner of death remind Lucy Kendall of Mary Weston, a notorious serial killer. Mary just also happens to be Chris' mother. For those who have not read the previous books, Chris is Mary’s son and Lucy’s close friend. He has been in the previous two books. Their history is detailed some here but mainly in The Girl in the Pink Shoes.

Is Mary Killing again?

Then Chis, Mary's son and Lucy's close friend, goes missing when going to meet with Mary. Lucy is scared for his safety and determined to find him. With the clock ticking, knowing how dangerous and vicious, Mary is, Lucy, along with the police, attempt to hunt Mary down. Will they find Chris in time?

When Mary asks to meet with Lucy, Lucy knows she is going to be meeting one of the most vicious and deranged individuals that she has ever meet.

Another riveting and hard to put down book by Stacy Green! Again, readers will see character development and get some more background on Lucy and Chris. Can these books be read as a stand-alone? Yes, but with this being book #3, I recommend going back to the beginning as each book is fabulous and fast reads.

With the other books in this series, Green pours on the tension and suspense. This was another well written and well thought out page turner for me and this has me looking forward to the next book in the series.

Tense, well written, and gripping.

PI Lucy Kendall hunts for serial killer Mary Weston after a girls body is found and her friend Chris is held hostage by the woman that is is his mother. This was a very tense and emotional read. This is the third book in the series and can be read as a stand-alone but I suggest reading the others first. Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Stacy Green! This book will be released January 30, 2023.

I want to thank Badass-Marketing and Stacy Green for an ARC of Gone to Die in exchange for an unbiased review.

To gush or not to gush? That is the question…

Damn, I’m gushin’!!!

Gone to Die, book 3 of the Lucy Kendall series, is Ms. Stacy Green’s MASTERPIECE! My goodness! How many times have you noticed a distinct drop in quality as a series progresses? Well, not so with Ms. Green’s Lucy Kendall series. Each of the books is better than the one before, and that is saying a lot as both All Good Deeds and See Them Run earned 5 big stars from me.

I was hooked by the first sentence (and nobody had been killed yet). By the end of the first mesmerizing page and a half, I knew I was in for a 5+ star read. A book has never ever pulled me in as quickly as Gone to Die. The reader is immediately thrown deep into Lucy’s profound inner thoughts. I wondered if Ms. Green could keep the spell going for a whole novel. Of course she could! This is one powerful psychological study. Not only that, Gone to Die is also a compelling police procedural with the FBI playing a major role as well. Strong as the story line is, and it is exceptionally strong, it is the character analysis that blew me to China. Lucy is the most complex protagonist I have come across in my almost 2 years of serious reading, and I found myself intensely caring about her. She is a cold-blooded killer, yet she feels, she really feels. In a nutshell, this is the battle Lucy is struggling with. Her life is teetering at the edge of a crossroads. Which road will she go down? Is she even capable of making that decision? If so, can she actually follow through?

There are so many things I love about this book, but I will just mention a few. I was delighted to see Kelly, Lucy’s computer hacker extraordinaire, have a bigger role in this installment. Dare I suggest to Ms. Green that once the Lucy series is over that she develop something for Kelly’s character? I was also impressed to see the maturity of Ms. Green’s writing. Though I loved Tin God, one of her earlier works, and of course All Good Deeds and See Them Run, her creativity, story-telling ability, and prose rise to new heights in Gone to Die. In addition, major props to the author for the extensive research that went into this novel. Gosh, how does a sweet Iowa mom write books like this? Clearly Ms. Green has a masterful mind and the drive to do her homework. That’s a dynamic recipe for a 5+ star novel.

This series must be read from the beginning to fully enjoy it. Ms. Green does add background info so those insisting on skipping around and not reading in order can get the gist; but to truly appreciate and savor this series, you have to start with All Good Deeds.

I wish I had the writing skills to give this book its due. Let me just say in closing that Gone to Die is simply brilliant and utterly captivating. Ms. Green is now one of my top 3 favorite authors of all time. The Lucy Kendall series is a must read (get that people? MUST READ) for all thriller fans.

Lucy Kendall is reeling from the events that led to the deaths of two people, neither she deliberately planned to kill. As her reflections have her spiralling deep into a depression, Chris Hale, her friend and confidant, is losing patience as he's anxious for them to locate his diabolical mother and deliver their unique brand of justice. When she receives a terrifying message from him, Lucy reaches the frightening conclusion that he's missing and possibly in his mother's clutches.

Lucy's introspection throughout this story was just as fascinating as the search for Chris after he goes missing. The parallels between her life, Chris' and Mary Weston were surprising at times as she examined the ongoing debate about nature versus nurture. As Chris worried about his gene pool, Lucy dwelled on all those things that created who she is today and whether she was salvageable. Her relationship with law enforcement participating in the search was fraught with tension as they seemed to innately know who she was and she walked a slippery slope as she provided assistance.

I couldn't put this book down as there seemed to be new revelations around every corner. I always suspected Mary Weston was an enigma and it was confirmed as each layer was peeled back. This story is as much a psychological thriller as a mystery and Lucy's not the only one harboring secrets. By the end, I had even more questions and I'm not ready to say goodbye to this character and her unusual array of friends and supporters. Well done!

Coulda, shoulda – didn’t. That’s about what Lucy Kendall keeps thinking after her friend Chris Hale disappears. Mired deeply in the emotional morass of her own making, Lucy had given Chris the brush-off, eventually letting his calls roll to voice mail. When she finally listens to his messages, she learns that he has been in contact with his serial killer-mother, Mary Weston, and has gone to meet her. He wants answers, he says. Worse, his last message cuts off with the sounds of gunfire. If only she had picked up the phone!

Lucy is smart enough to call Detective Todd Beckett, who is also Mary’s stepson. After tracking down a possible location for Mary through an e-mail, they drive to Harford County, Maryland. A search in the snow turns eventually turns up Chris’s phone, his car, and a small puddle of blood. The windblown snow has obliterated any footprints or tire tracks. All this is too big for Chief Deputy Gerry Frost, although she is too proud to admit it. FBI Agent Andre Lennox requests Lucy’s assistance when a young woman’s body is discovered in a remote hunting cabin. Knowing that Lucy is familiar with the killer’s history and habits, Lennox asks for her opinion. Lucy immediately recognizes that the body bears all the signature trademarks of Mary’s previous victims. Amy – another in a long line of young women who have been tortured and murdered by a sick, evil monster.

Lucy feels like she’s sitting on a powder keg and the lid could be blown off any minute. Todd knows her past, of course, without having any proof. What does Lennox know? A lot. He doesn’t have proof either, but he can put two and two together and get four. The killing never seemed to bother Lucy until she killed two people to save herself, to keep her secret. Ms. Green hits us right off the bat with Lucy’s anguish: “…I took the step I swore I’d never take, catapulting right off the ledge into a black sea of soulless monsters, their scrawny arms throttling me until I couldn’t draw a breath without feeling the jagged edge of guilt slicing through my lungs.” Whew! I knew then that this was going to be an exceptional journey!

It is compelling to think about why two law enforcement officers would look the other way when they know that an individual is responsible for the deaths of numerous child molesters. Lucy has no choice but to trust them and cooperate; the alternatives seal her own fate.

Now she is questioning everything. For the first time, she is looking inside, soul searching as never before. What she sees through guilt-stricken eyes is a mirror image of “Mother Mary.” A murderer. She is afraid of being caught, afraid that she cannot change. In the previous Lucy novels, she came across as a sociopath, but for the first time, Lucy battles her conscience. For the first time, she realizes that even scumbags have relatives who mourn for them. Righteous motives? Where does she draw the line? She cannot give voice to her thoughts without admitting her guilt. Only Kelly knows her torment. Kelly believes in her and encourages her to believe in herself. Kelly comes a long way in this book, and I hope we see much more of her in future writings. She proves herself to be courageous and strong; Lucy would do well to follow her example.

For all her nefarious deeds and her tormented mind, Lucy manages to keep up with the game as the team desperately crisscrosses the state lines trying to locate the fugitives and find Chris before it’s too late. The pacing of the plot is magnificent. The tension is palpable as the scene shifts from the police action to an interfering reporter to Lucy’s ever-present, anxious thoughts. We get plenty of background on Mary’s misdeeds, as well as new details about Chris – lies and partial truths – that make Lucy wonder how well she really knows her friend.

As Gone to Die ends, Lucy has some decisions to make. She does. We are left with enough unfinished business to make us hunger for more of Lucy and her sidekicks.

I am a Lucy Kendall/Stacy Green enthusiast, and I feel that this is the best of the series. I absolutely love the evolution of Lucy in this saga. She shows us the depth of her soul, and all I can say is read the first two books, and then read Gone to Die. It’s the best psychological thriller I have read this year!

I wish to thank Stacy Green and Badass Marketing for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A wholehearted 5 stars!

With Lucy Kendall finally gaining justice for Justin, she felt the depression take over – her past was full of darkness; her mind struggles intense. When friend Chris Hale continued to try to phone her and she didn’t pick up, Lucy didn’t expect him to go off on his own. But that’s just what he did – searching for his mother, the evil serial killer Mary Weston. His cryptic messages on Lucy’s phone told a terrifying story; then when he wouldn’t answer his phone, she knew she needed to find him before it was too late – if it wasn’t already.

When FBI Agent Andre Lennox became involved, he had the information about Mary and her activities at his fingertips. Keeping Lucy close (to keep an eye on her she suspected) she found herself helping with the investigation into Chris’ disappearance, and the ongoing search for Mary. As a Private Investigator, Lucy was aware of what went on; how the investigation would progress – but her impatience to find Chris was great. The finding of blood and another body only confirmed what they thought they knew.

With Detective Todd Beckett, who was Chris’ stepbrother, by her side, plus best friend Kelly (who knew Lucy’s darkest secrets); Lucy faced her biggest challenge yet. But she was deeply worried about Chris’ state of mind in the midst of his mother’s evil ways – would he be able to stay strong; or would her vindictive and manipulative manner overcome his own sense of self. And she wasn’t convinced he would be allowed to live…

I thoroughly enjoyed Gone to Die by author Stacy Green; the third in the Lucy Kendall series and up there with the best in my opinion. I can’t wait for the next instalment. In this episode, Lucy finds herself going through a huge amount of emotional turmoil. I loved the extra involvement of Kelly, who is Lucy’s IT consultant (or hacker if you want!) in Gone to Die as well. It was a cracker of a story; an intense psychological thriller with breathtaking suspense which kept me guessing until the end. I have no hesitation in recommending Gone to Die extremely highly, although I would stress that you read books 1 & 2 first if you haven’t already.

With thanks to Badass Marketing for my copy to read and review.

"......sometimes we can't possibly know the darkness inside of people, no matter how much we care about them or how much we think we know."

Stacey Green has done it again!

Gone to Die is the third book in the Lucy Kendall series. And each one has been an enthralling read; a catch your breath in your throat read; a rollercoaster of a read that has you sitting on the edge of your seat.

When Lucy's friend Chris Hale vanishes after making contact with his serial killer mother, Lucy must play nice with an FBI agent who claims to know all about her own dark past.

But then shocking facts about Chris emerge, and Lucy is forced to accept that maybe she doesn't know Chris as well as she thought she did.

Is Chris going to be able to resist his mother? Or will he succumb to her plans for an evil future killing together?

Thank you to Harry Chaconas, Badass Marketing and author Stacey Green for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Mary Weston is a brutal serial killer who has evaded the law for years. She is connected to former social worker now PI/vigilante-turned-murderer Lucy Kendall since she struck up a friendship with a man named Chris. In fact, Chris sought Lucy out at their first meeting, and she cannot help but to be drawn in about the story of his dark and upsetting past.

Not only is Lucy facing the dangers of meeting Mary Weston, but she has begun to question her vigilante activities that has cost the lives of several men who harmed children and did not get the justice that she felt that they deserved. But now that her friend Chris has gone missing, Lucy is desperate to find him. She is not alone in this. The police are searching for Chris as well. In fact, they allow Lucy quite a bit of leeway when it comes to the search for Chris.

In order to find Chris, Lucy must attempt something that could be extremely dangerous. Knowing that Chris has been captured by his own mother, Mary Weston presents a real challenge for Lucy. Mary wants to meet Lucy. By so doing, Lucy’s life could definitely be on the line.

What a tense read! As this thrilling series has progressed, Lucy has been on the line about the decisions that she has been making regarding her vigilante activities. She does not measure to the depravity that the serial killer killers and child molesters that she has killed, but yet she questions her actions. With Chris now having gone missing, Lucy wonders whether or not she would be able to do harm to Mary Weston in order to save Chris. However, the decision as to what to do could be taken right out of her hands.

This exciting third book in the Lucy Kendall series follows The Girl in the Pink Shoes and Little Lost Souls. This is an interconnected series that really should be read in order, and by so doing it will definitely help readers to understand Lucy and her motivations. This well-written story shows the dangers that are facing Lucy, especially when it comes to her desire to right the wrongs of the past and some of the decisions that she has made. Suspense and danger go hand in hand in this book, making this easily a one-sitting read. With shocking twists and turns and a pulse-pounding conclusion, this book set the groundwork for the final book in the series.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

I want to thank Badass-Marketing and Stacy Green for an ARC of Gone to Die in exchange for an unbiased review.

Gone to Die is the third book in Stacy Green's Lucy Kendall series. I have said it before and I will say it again, Stacy Green knows how to write and these books reflect it with well developed, compelling, complex characters and a plot that will keep you on your toes the entire time you are reading. The stories pulls you in deep from the beginning and keep you there all the way through to the end and after each book all you can think is "I want more"!

These are physiological thrillers and more! They are not for the faint of heart! In Gone to Die we are given an in depth look not only into Lucy but into the dark and manipulative mind of a sociopath. A sociopath that gets her kicks out of torturing and killing.

Lucy is left reeling after the events in See Them Die and is examining herself, her actions and who she is becoming. She can no longer hide from what she is and her ability to justify to herself what she has done no longer eases her mind. After killing two people she hadn't set out to kill, killing them to save herself and keep her secrets, she starts making comparison to herself and the sociopath she calls Mother Mary.

Chris has tired of waiting on Lucy to go after his mother and decides to do it himself but after leaving a startling voicemail for her he disappears and Lucy knows that Mother Mary has him. Lucy is joined by Todd, Chris's Uncle, Kelly and the FBI in the race to find him before Mary kills him....or worse. But following Mary's trail leads Lucy down another path as she discovers secrets, lies and more truths about herself.

Questions are answered but new ones asked leaving room for more Lucy!

Absolutely fantastic read! Thank you Stacy Green!

Wow, Stacy Green has done it again!! I never wanted to put the book down, starting from page one all the way until the end!!

In this book, Chris runs off to confront his mom Mary. Lucy finds out by listening to a voice message from Chris where the last thing she hears is a gunshot! Instead of going rogue, this time Lucy works with the police and FBI to find Chris and Mary. Lucy has to face her inner demons and her past in order to help Chris, find Mary and not end up in jail herself.

This is a fast paced, edge of your seat psychological thriller that deals with a very dark subject. If you enjoyed the first two books in the series, then you need to get this book!! If you haven't read the first two books in the series, I highly recommend you do before reading this book. Even though I feel like it could be a stand alone book, you will understand a lot more of the background if you read the first two books before this one.

The Girl In The Cabin, also titled Gone To Die, is the third book in the Lucy Kendall series by best-selling American author, Stacy Green. As Lucy mentally comes to terms with her latest killings, her friend Chris Hale is in contact with his mother, serial killer Mary Weston aka Martha Beckett. Much to Lucy’s dismay, she learns from voicemail that he has travelled to an isolated town in Maryland to meet up with her. But even worse, the sound of a gunshot…

As she hurriedly arranges to go to Jarrettsville, Detective Todd Beckett insists on accompanying her. Lucy is frustrated by Jarrettsville’s inept Sheriff’s deputies, and the delay they cause in finding the location. Blood in the snow and a discarded cell-phone have her extremely worried for her friend’s safety.

When a search discovers the body of a missing teen in a hunting cabin, Mary Weston’s signature is apparent. Finding her will be their only chance to save Chris. Desperate to find his nephew, ADA Frank Hale brings FBI Agent Lennox and his tech team, but Lucy is not confident they can find where the killer has taken Chris. As it becomes apparent that Chris has not been honest with her, she worries that his mental state will make him more vulnerable to his mother’s manipulation.

Given her recent history, Lucy is somewhat stunned to find herself working with the FBI and local law enforcement. Some clever tech work and a lot of grunt sorting through non-digitised cases, in a bid to learn Mary’s history, helps them to eventually guess at the most likely location where Chriss is being kept. But will they get there in time?

This is a series best read in order as there are massive spoilers for the first two books in this one. It is a vast improvement on the first two: perhaps this publisher offers a better editor, although the blurb is inaccurate and misleading. Now that Lucy has vowed to stop killing, it will be interesting to see where the fourth book takes the reader.

This book starts where the last one left off. Lucy is thinking about what she did to Jake, Riley and Preacher. Preacher’s body has been found earlier than expected. Lucy also has to make it right with Justin which she does and now she has to contend with Chris. Chris wants to get to know his mother who is Mother Mary but first they have to locate her. Lucy has been putting him off by not answering his phone calls nor returning them. When she does she is not happy by what she hears and immediately calls Todd to find out Todd has been kidnapped.

My opinion of Lucy has changed. I really feel sorry for her in the beginning of the book. I have been waiting for her to have a nervous breakdown but she keeps on going and fighting for what she believes in.

Chris has been kidnapped by his mother “Mother Mary” and Lucy is trying to find him. The FBI is involved and Lennox who is the lead in the case is keeping an eye on Lucy. Lucy and Lennox take a trip to the jail where Chris’ father, John is incarcerated to find out why he took the blame for the killings in Lancaster. Well he does tell Lucy which now sets the tone for the rest of the book. You find out how evil Mary really is and it’s not just her.

This book delves deeper into the main characters background whether it be Todd or Lucy, Chris or Kelly. The first two books you either go back and forth liking the main characters reading this book gives you a better perspective with what the characters went through that brought them to do what they do. It was very interesting reading b/c Stacy wants you to make the decision whether to like the character or not.

Everyone makes choices in life which these characters did. Whether they are the right choices will find out in the next installment.

Power packed, stunning emotional read!!!
Lucy Kendall is haunted with demons of the past. But she must
face a situation stemming from her nemesis. This person is the
perfect killer with raw intensity.
Will the killer’s rage, hate and devious mind be the downfall
of Lucy Kendall?
The story moves fast and contains a lot of harsh realities. The
past and present are weaved together without difficulty. This
makes the mystery explainable to the reader as they get an
inside view of the inner working of the characters.
The book covers deceit, betrayal, viciousness, greed, hatred plus
social issues such as abandonment, dysfunctional family life,
living with deceit, rejection, fear, murder, loss and grieving.
The characters are very well described having great dimensions.
There is quite a tangled web of clues, secrets revealed and lies
uncovered.
This completely riveting storyline was thick and well sustained.
You will want to read this book in one sitting!!!
Thank you to Badass Marketing for this eBook. My opinion is
my own.

This review can also be found on my blog: www.courtneysreads.blogspot.com

In this third installment in the Lucy Kendall series Lucy is forced to face her demons head on and confront the darkness that has been growing inside of her. It's a dark, thought provoking thrill ride that keeps you turning pages. Stacy Green certainly knows how to keep you reading.

In this installment Lucy is reeling from the events that occurred in the previous novel See Them Run. She's been putting off everything in her life, trying to figure out what the darkness in her soul really means and if she is truly different from those she's committed to getting rid of. One thing that I love about this series is Lucy's constant self analysis. She may not always be able to read herself as well as she can others, but even when she's in darkness she's trying to figure out her own head.

Chris, Lucy's friend and ally, goes missing early on in the novel. His mother, a serial killer, has taken him and no one truly knows how damaged he is until now. Lucy's world is thrown into more turmoil as she faces questions about her friend that she had never considered. He's not the person she thought he was and she doesn't know how to deal with the secrets that are being revealed. This was another brilliantly done aspect of this installment. Lucy has few allies or friends and to see her tested by these new revelations surrounding Chris brought a new depth to the story.

Gone to Die is somewhat slower paced than the previous two novels and in some cases darker. Lucy is dealing with more depression than she ever has been before as she's forced to come to terms with her actions in the previous novel. I don't think this hindered the novel much though; it's still face paced and exciting, just with slightly less action.

The characters, as usual, are brilliant. Lucy and her dark demons. Todd, a local detective and somewhat friend who has suspicions about Lucy's activities and encourages her to start over, is featured more prominently in this novel than he has been before. Todd is one of my favorite characters. He's strong, capable, broken, and yet good. Another character that I was happy to see more of was Kelly, Lucy's computer genius. She's had her share of pain and knows what suffering is. The friendship between Kelly and Lucy is one of the most beautiful things in this series.

This is an excellent novel and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys thrillers. If you haven't read the first two installments yet, I highly suggest that you go and grab them now. I am eagerly awaiting the fourth and final installment in this series.

Thank you Badass Marketing and Stacy Green for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Lucy has fallen into a deep hole of depression only bringing herself out long enough to help Justin. She doesn't want to think or do anything. Chris has been calling her about going after his mother to dispense Lucy's brand of justice on her. Lucy is not ready for that but when she listens to a message from Chris that ends with a gunshot, she knows she needs to find him.

I enjoyed this book so much. There were times when I couldn't wait to see what would happen next but I also didn't want the book to end.

Looking forward to book 4 in this series.

The Lucy Kendall series continues. Lucy tries to right prior wrongs. She is depressed and has little interaction with her friends. She is more reflective than she has been previously. Two law enforcement officers let her know they think she had something to do with the recent deaths of child predators. Her friend Chris heads out to find out answers from his serial killer mother. The twisted minds, selfishness, torture, manipulation, pain and death continue in Gone To Die. what will Lucy do next?

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any more twisted and shocking, Stacy Green does it again. This time, she’s after Mary Weston, who featured prominently in book 1. The twists and turns in this series are nonstop and keep me on the edge of my seat. Lucy is smart, savvy, and seeks justice in her own way. This series is fantastic and I can’t get enough! Highly recommended but start at book 1. This book isn’t for the squeamish.

I received a copy from #NetGalley for an honest review.

GONE TO DIE (LUCY KENDALL:#3)

Written by Stacy Green
2015, Twisted Minds Press (258 Pages)
Genre: series, fiction, psychological thriller, suspense, mystery, gritty

Rating: 4 STARS

So the review for book three might change depending on whether this series continues or not…the ending, in my opinion, is only satisfying if there is another book. If Gone to Die is it for the series I am not sure I am happy with how the series end. In the third book, Chris has gotten himself kidnapped and only Lucy can rescue him because only she can think like a killer. We see Lucy in this book coming to the aid of the FBI and trying to work with them to find Chris before he dies…that is if the gunshot she heard over the phone hasn’t killed him already. We see Lucy really fight herself in this book as she tries to think like the killer and try to figure out who she really is. The last case has rattled her and this new one feels like the end of something.

I greatly enjoyed Green’s quick action, emotionally and psychologically charged characters and terrifying plots – overall a great writing style. Just a warning Lucy and Stacy will cause binge reading and any chores you had plan…left undone.

Gone To Die by Stacy Green is a dark, gritty, psychological thriller. This book draws you in from the first page and doesn’t let go until the end and then leaves you wanting more! Very rarely does a book hold my attention from beginning to the end but this one definitely did. I couldn’t read the pages fast enough.
This book takes you into the mind of Lucy Kendall, the depression, anxiety, fear, the guilt for not being there for her friend Chris. The character development is phenomenal. The supporting characters have depth and dimension and it was good to read more of Kelly and see her growth.
Will Lucy take the second chance that she has been offered? Time will tell as she fights her own personal demons and fights against her own will. Which Lucy will emerge in the end?
This is a 5 star book for me. I look forward to the next book in the series. I would also recommend reading the first two Lucy Kendall books, ‘All Good Deeds” and “See Them Run’. Both are 5 star books in my opinion.
I want to thank Badass Marketing and Ms. Stacy Green for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. It was a privilege reading it. The thoughts in this review are my own.

This is the 3rd book in the Lucy Kendall series. I think the Author keeps getting better with each book she writes.

Lucy is suffering from depression after her last encounter in the garage. Suddenly her friend Chris leaves a message saying that he is going to meet his Mother (serial killer Mary Weston) on his own. She is desperate to find him because at the end of his message, she hears a gun shot. Will she be able to find him alive, and if he is, will she enlist him as her new helper in carrying out more vicious acts of murder? A great book that you won't regret reading.

3rd in the Lucy Kendall series and we find her at the beginning debating with herself where her future takes her. Chris still wants her to find Mary but she feels burnt out. Until she realises Chris has taken matters into his own hands and put his own safety at risk.
This is my favourite book so far, we see a more vulnerable side to Lucy and she puts her feelings before reckless behaviour. Series goes from strength to strength

A really ironic premise of a good killer hunting down a bad killer😂.

It's thrilling, it kept me at the edge of my seat the most of the time. The entire investigation really peaked my interest. Such a great flow of plot, and well paced as well.

Characters are developed properly. Their intentions and interactions are organic and play out really well. A good thriller to pick up through and through!!

Lucy Kendall is struggling to come to terms with the person she's become. Both through the unspeakable things she's seen and the actions she's taken, she's afraid she's gone too far down to ever come back. With dark secrets she's having trouble keeping hidden, the best thing she can think to do is to take some space from her friends and try to fix the brokenness she's fighting inside.

Leaving calls unanswered, Lucy doesn't realize until it's too late, that Chris Hale has gotten tired of waiting for her help and has gone on a dangerous mission on his own - he's gone to confront one of the cruelest serial killers at large - his own mother. When confronting a woman she's killed many and destroyed the life of her younger son, there's no telling what lengths she will go to to destroy her oldest son as well. A son that voluntarily has agreed to meet her all alone.

No one is safe when Mary Weston is at large. Lucy must face her own demons in order to get out and help her friend who has gone missing in the clutches of one of the FBIs most wanted criminals. Lucy must put her reputation on the line and confront agents which may have dangerous knowledge of Lucy's own past that can risk her freedom. Can she work well with the FBI and local police to find Chris before it is too late? Will she lose her own freedom, or even her life, in the process? When left alone with his mother, what will Chris really be capable of? Will he be able to end the life of the notorious serial killer, or will he be dragged into something much much worse...

This is a novel filled with twists and turns that will leave the reader firmly plastered to the edge of their seat waiting to see what will happen next. A must read for anyone who loves action, excitement, and mystery!

I tried to push through this book to finish it out knowing full well that I was not going to read the 4th book.

I just could not finish this book. You can get your point across without being descriptive of the event. I didn't need to read for the 50th time that the girl was sexually assaulted with a kitchen item. I didn't. It's too much. TOO. MUCH. I am NOT one easily triggered by ANYTHING even though I am a survivor of childhood abuse but I just cannot finish this book.

At first I thought maybe the author worked for CPS and these books were pulled from real life experience. I couldn't find any evidence of that. Yes, I know things like this happens in the real world; TRUST me that I am painfully aware of things like this happening in the real world which is why I see a therapist every month. The event(s) can be explained in a way that the reader can draw their own conclusions instead of slamming a frying pan across their face with the info.

TO BE CLEAR - These books are not terrible. They are page turners, the characters are engaging and some pull at your heartstrings. The description around the sexual assaults, child suicide, child sex ring, did not need to be so descriptive. The author definitely has a gift of writing. 80% of me really enjoyed the 2.5 books I read of the series. I just cannot continue reading these descriptions,

I always struggle with the rating because overall - book is good, Had the descriptions eased up a bit I would have continued the series and enjoyed every line of it. I would said 3.5 stars. If you are easily triggered, do not read this book.

Thank you to #netgalley for the ARC of the release of these books.

I received a free ebook copy to review from Bad Ass Marketing in exchange for my honest review.

Lucy's character takes on more in-depth personal decisions and thoughts through out this book. I enjoyed reading this book. I read her first book and honestly wish I would have read the second one before this one, however I was able to read and understand everything having read only the first book previously.

It was interesting to see Lucy wrestle with her understanding of "right" and "wrong". I liked that more background was given on her, Chris and Mary. The book took an interesting angle with Lucy figuring out her decisions/future through Mary and Chris.

Highly looking forward to seeing the next chapter in Lucy's future.

Gone To Die is another outstanding story about Lucy Kendall by Stacy Green. I was so pleased to be able to read this book early and want to thank Badass-Marketing and Stacy Green for the offer.
I truly enjoyed this book and look forward to Lucy Kendall #4 (please don't make it the last)!!!
Lucy has done some bad things in her life but for a good reason and now she might just have to face up to it all !! Working with the police to find her friend Chris and his mother Mary is not going to be easy. She wants to do the right but how much do the Police know about her past... Will they find Chris in time to save him or will he end up helping Mary. Exciting story right from the start all the way to the terrifying ending.
