The first 2 story arcs manage to replicate the balance of humor, grossness, and actually good science fiction from the animated series. Even without the voices, I was able to hear Rick and Morty in my head. The artwork was well matched to that of the show, being cartoony, but with good layout and pacing. The last two issues were both quite bad. Gorman should not do his own drawing, as the penultimate issue in this collection had terrible artwork, and even worse, the entire issue was nothing more than extended setup for a stupid joke that might have been an attempt to make a comment about advertising vs. entertainment, but fell flat on its face. Nevertheless, the main chunk of the book was lots of fun, and should satisfy most fans of the show.

*Buuuurp* We're a comic Morty. A Comic!

Containing 10 volumes of the comics by Oni Press (who also puts out the Scott Pilgrim books) this volume has plenty of Rick and Morty action to amuse fans of the show as the duo of grandfather and grandson discover danger and adventure in new and old dimensions alike. Also in addition to a nice gallery of alternate comic artwork we get the exclusive sound chip in the cover (where I keep the tab in the slot until I want someone to hear it) which is just Rick and Morty talking about how amazing a sound chip in a comic really is. :)

So basically if you like the cartoon you will probably like the comic (and possibly read it in the original voice actor's voices) though like other comic series sometimes the artist will change and sometimes things do not translate as well from motion to still pages. Still with 10 volumes of comics to read I hope you find some real fun issues. :)

There are plenty of fun moments in this book but flipping through again I can't help but smile at the shamelessness of Rick as they read the charges including soliciting sex to a judge and Rick trying to say what is in the statement is being taken out of content while saying Morty is always dressed scandalous like he appeared in court. :)

As bonkers and hilarious as the cartoon which methinks (meseeks?) is high praise. I will definitely keep following this title.

This book is a fantastic present for all Rick and Morty lovers.

I'm not that hard-core fan of Rick and Morty. Even though I only watched the first three seasons so far, I really enjoy the atmosphere of the series, its crazy world with its dark sarcasm, mind-blowing plots and creative characters. And I guess I can state that the book has that vibe of the animation series.

Sometimes I couldn't keep the sounds in my head and had to read the book aloud, trying to mimic the voices of the characters, including those whose voices I didn't even know.

It deserves more than four stars, but I can't give it five since some of the narrative solutions weren't really that good.

And because I am not (still) a huge Rick and Morty fan, thus this book was not a Christmas present for me, so it's time to bid farewell to the book and return it to the library.

THIS IS SO FUN!

It really feels like watching the episodes. each adventures is writeen authentically to the characters that I can hear it in their voices. also the variety in art style is refreshing. you just need to have watched the show before because it assumes you know some things, like the traits and inside jokes about the family and some characters.

Plot: 5/5
Characters: 4/5
World Building: 5/5
Overall Enjoyment: 5/5
I'm also adding some bonus points for all the bonus content included in this work. I'm giving 2 points for the 40+ pages of exclusive artwork. I'd also like to give one point for the especially creative book cover and overall aesthetic. I'm also giving one last bonus point for the cool inclusion of a soundbite voiced by the real Justin Roiland. (This book really wants to use that sound bite as a selling point. Look, it's cool but it's not incredible or anything. It's actually kind of annoying after a while because it goes off every time you open the cover of the book.)
Overall that's a 23/20 which is kind of insane but I stand by it.

I think these comics are a really great continuation/expansion of a really great show. I think fans of R&M would love this but it's also a fantastic comic series on it's own!

The good:
-Great dialogues, it seems like the comic characters are the show characters talking.
-Two pretty solid arcs. Both got twists and turns and the things got a little darker, not at the show's level but the two story arcs are complex enough to be an introduction for the comic.
-This is a good fill up for waiting to the next season of the show.
-Good science concepts applied to a dark and twisted story.
-A very special blumbus was great.
-The extra comics that this edition has were really good.

The bad:
-The ball fondlers special was very boring for me. Ball fondlers was funnier in the show.

Book 1 of the comic book adventures of Rik and Morty. Although generally it follows the same general trends as the TV show, there are differences. The Rik here is generally much kinder than the one from the show, and shows a lot more affection for Morty. Overall, I enjoyed it.

This is phenomenal in my opinion. I only just recently, (in the past month or so) got on the hype train of Rick and Morty, and let me tell you: I do not regret it in the least. The show itself is fantastic, so when I ran out of episodes, I was sad. Imagine then, my surprise and delight, when I found out three was a comic series. I started reading them, and I just couldn't stop. It was the perfect mixture of brand new adventures without copying from the show. One of the things I really liked was that in the first few comics, it wasn't the Rock and North of C-137. They were instead from C-132. I had no idea of this, because they acted exactly like the ones from C-137. A special duo indeed. It was almost exactly like watching episodes from the show, they acted and behaved so much like them. I could hear everyone in my head, and that just added to it. To all fans of Rick and Morty: I wholeheartedly recommend the comics. You won't regret it. I know I don't.

After the return of season 4 episodes, I was thirsting for some Rick and Morty and found this copy sitting around in my brother's room. The writers and illustrators capture the shows characters, humor, and style in the graphic novel format, making it read like a typical Rick and Morty episode. This special edition also comes with an exclusive sound clip (Rick and Morty go meta about how it's a sound chip!), and bonus cover artwork. The volume includes The Wubba Lubba Dub Dub of Wallstreet (pars 1-4), Mortballs, the Rickfinity Crisis (parts 1-3), The Ball Fondlers Special, A Very Special Blumbus, and Bonus Shorts. Overall, it's a fun and hilarious read for fans of the show looking for additional Rick and Morty content.

Wubba Lubba Dub Dub...

Like the tv show? Like comics? Boy do we have something for you. Rick and Morty stories almost as good as the show itself.

It's like reading an sci fi anthology. Just a fair warning. Some of the stories are good. Some of the art looks like middle school class participation winners.

Pradžioj labai jau lėtai man šis komiksas skaitės, bet tikrai yra neblogų istorijų. Čia, sakyčiau, toks labiau one-shotų rinkinys, tad natūralu, kad bus visokių.

Nežinau, ar rekomenduoju. Turbūt nebent tiem, kas labai pasiilgo RM ir neseniai peržiūrėjo tuos vienintelius du gerus sezonus.

This is a good walk back to the multiverse, but I think some tiny bit is still missing. Maybe I'm just not convinced enough, and things I can tolerate in the show prevent me from full-scale enjoyment in book's case

Acceptable and entertaining at times. The writing progressively gets sharper through the series run, but it's often not as gratifying as the original TV show.

The actual issues of the comics? Terrible. The short comics? Actually pretty good. I will still finish all of the issues, now it will be just one at a time.

Well put together anthology! The sound chip is fun (and dumb lmao) and I loooove the cover gallery at the back.

The stories are weird/fun/clever and the true-to-tone writing will definitely scratch that Rick and Morty itch.

Surprisingly, I actually found the art in most of the comics surprisingly lackluster in comparison to other show-to-comic series I've read, even taking into account the "stylistic suck" and simplicity of the characters. It does the job, but most has a surprisingly low level of craftsmanship particularly in lineart and framing and doesn't mirror the ingenuity and worldbuilding of the show just visually.

"A Very Special Blumbus" might be the sole exception, a comic drawn by the writer with a lot of character and a purposeful evocation of a holiday special.

Still, I had a lot of fun with it and the writing carries it just fine. C:

Rick and Morty on paper features all of the comedy and none of the outrageous character voices. Yes, I'm aware this is inherent to comic books. But like, it's also kind of disappointing that they even tried to translate Rick and Morty into comics. New revenue stream, I get it, fans will lap this up. But you can only add so many "*URP*" and stutters to dialogue in an attempt to replicate the Rick patois.

But, like I said, the comedy is there. The plots are fun. These are legitimately episodes of the series minus all the voicework. Take that for what you will.

Edit: oh right, if you pull a little tab in the cover, Rick and Morty do comment on the quality of the hardcover edition. So I guess there is some voicework here. I TAKE IT ALL BACK, THIS RULES.

Pretty easy to review. If you like Rick and Morty you will like these. It's basically just more episodes and shorts from the show, but in a new format. If you do not like Rick and Morty, these will not appeal to you.

If you read the DnD Rick and Morty graphic novel and was mad about everyone being out of character don't worry, this is a vehicle for the show, not for another franchise- everyone is more on brand.
