Out of the Fire

Rate this book
After magic floods into the world, bringing with it unimaginable power, ex-rock star Tucker Ambrus and firefighter Andrew Byrne’s city is nearly destroyed by a devastating storm of fire.

Now, as the unlikely leaders of a desperate band of survivors, Tucker and Byrne struggle to unite and protect what’s left of a panicked, lawless public—both from themselves, and from new supernatural terrors like the mysterious eruptions of churning gray that devour everything in their path.

But when influential leaders begin disappearing and chaos splits the survivors into warring factions, Tucker and Byrne must race to uncover a secret that links a crazed murderer to the deadly surges of magic and halt them both before it’s too late … though if they succeed, they risk igniting another firestorm and tearing their homes, and their friendship, apart.

I cannot say enough good things about this book. From the start it is fast paced filled with tragedy but also strong willed people that aren't going to give in to adversity.

First there was The Fire which destroyed half of the world. No one can decide if The Spark came right before or right after The Fire but now people have special abilities using The Spark. Not much later came the Greys deadly clouds of swirling energy? that suck people in never to be seen again.
No one knows anything about the Greys or the Spark or what cause the Fire. Are they all 3 related? And what about the purple clouds seen before the Fire by only a few?

Tucker and Byrne just want to try to get some semblance of organization back into the world while trying to manage the Greys if that is even possible.

Nathanael Green and Evan Ronan have created some solid characters that the reader gets to know. They all have strengths, weaknesses and even during this traumatic time they can find things to laugh about.

They set a scene so well that you can picture it and some can even make you shudder while others make you smile.

To all readers that like science fiction, dystopian or paranormal fiction this is a must read.

A fast paced action adventure story, set in a different kind of apocalypse, with a fascinating array of characters working with and against each other as they begin to understand their new reality of wild magic and encroaching doom.
