Aisling has every reason in the world to like her life as it is: away from the shifter community. Tucked in her little corner of the world, she sees no reason to gets involved in the drama of the ever warring packs, until trouble knocks at her door.
Trouble wrapped in a delicious package her cat wants to claw.

Raygan didn't know what he expected when he moved his pride to the loner's territory; maybe having to deal with a criminal, or someone in hiding. Instead, he found a fiercely protective, insanely attractive lunatic with secrets he wants to unravel.
A lunatic who might very well be his fated mate.

This book is a standalone; expect a full resolution, no cliffhanger. Also expect explicit language.

3 ~ Big Cats, Little Cats, Shifter Cats ~ Stars

This a short easy peasy read that was low on angst, had some super mild drama and a ton of secondary characters that will pique your interest. The story centers around Rye, the alpha of a Wyvern Pride. When his seer forsees a wolf attack on their small group that completely decimates them, Rye is desperate to find a safe haven for his group of misfits. When his second in command, Duante offers up a safe place that is too perfect to be true, it is.

Aisling loves her baby brother but Duante really screwed her on this one. For years, Aisling has isolated herself from everyone, choosing to be a loner rather than risk herself with a Pride, even if she and her cat are both depressing lonely about it. But she can’t turn away a group with women and children away. It doesn’t help that Rye both grates on her nerves and makes her inner kitty frisky as ever!

What I liked:
I’ve read a few books by this author and like before, I loved her writing style. It’s clean, smooth and gets to the point without dragging it out, burying you under endless dialogue or boring you with unnecessary detail. Her characters are fleshed out, likable and bursting with chemistry. I liked reading about this shifter world she’s created, even if some of the details and subplots felt a bit too forced. I liked how Rye and Aisling acted and reacted both in human and cat form - their inner cats made me laugh!

Memorable Moments:
The theory behind the whole mating/true mate thing being debunked …
Some said mates were the results of an evolutionary thing: nature picked two people who were likely to have strong children, and bound them together. That theory was destroyed by the fact that sometimes true mates were of the same sex and, therefore, unable to reproduce.

Short and predictable to the point of boredom.
90% info dumps, 5% sex and 5% story.
I think this author just isn't my cuppa.

Safety is fine which was a surprise considering the only other story I read by MS was Love Blows, was rife with cheating but no grovel at all. This story was sweet and simple.

So basically this book read like:

Snore.

Snore. Snore.

Sno-Sno-Snore!

Seriously literally NOTHING happens. At all. Even the end „fight“ was far from being interesting. I don‘t need five billion tons of blood and war in my shifter romances, but ... at least A LITTLE bit of suspense, especially when the book starts with a scene like this, a vision about the gruesome and painful deaths of the weak and young pride members.

Well, I did read books, were nothing other than a relationship happens, and they can be friggin‘ good. But the love story has to be interesting for that. The couple has to TALK and MEET and not only think about each other. This just. ... gah!

The only reason I am giving two stars is, that I liked that the heroines was portrayed pretty badass, also we don‘t get to see too much of that badassery.

Audiobook: Narrators – Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross

Both narrators did a great job. Each characters’ voice was distinctive and I didn’t have any trouble adapting to their tone or fluctuations. This was my first by these narrators and I will definitely be searching for their names in the future.

This was a great shifter story that was fast paced and well written. It is low angst and written in dual POV. The characters were well developed and I loved Aisling’s tough cat persona especially when she shows her cat form to Raygan for the first time. There are plenty of secondary characters that could make for plenty of additional books in the series and I was curious about many of them. The conflict was believable although the person who ultimately was the source was not. Overall, this was a very nice story that I enjoyed.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The story of a cat pride alpha finding his mate in a strong loner female after she provides shelter for him and his people who are trying to keep their cubs safe from a wolf pack.

Raygan is the first to figure out that Aisling is his mate, and he is determined to get her to see it and agree to stay with him and his pride, despite her choice of living outside one for years. Aisling is happy with the life she's created for herself, but she can't deny that she sometimes wonders about a different life, especially after meeting the persistent alpha.

Enjoyable, short story, if not particularly original, that sets the stage for the next couple, Daunte, the pride's beta and Clarissa, Aisling's human assistant in Pretty Kitten.

Another winner by May Sage! While I'm a fan of shifter romances (less so today than last year), Kitty Cat is so much more than that. The characters have depth, the conflict feels so real and the romance made my heart pound. Highly recommend!

This is the first paranormal romance that I have read by May Sage and I have to say I enjoyed it. She did a great job creating a world where humans know about shifters but they don't necessarily trust them. And frankly can you blame humans for fearing what they don't fully understand until they actually interact with good shifters? Raygan and Aisling are fated mates but neither really admits that fated mates exist so they both try to fight the attraction. But you know you just can't fight a fated mate! This was a fun story with a bit of the trademark May Sage humor, romance and a bit of action. I'm looking forward to the next in the series as we already have been introduced to the potential couple.

Kitty Cat is a paranormal shifter romance and book one of the Age Of Night series.

Rye is the Alpha of a small pack of feline shifters who have recently been constantly targeting by a large wolf shifter group.

With few places left to go Rye’s beta Daunte take’s them to Oregon, but in doing so he betrays a promise.

Ace lives alone out of choice; a lone shifter who lives side-by-side with humans. She runs a popular bakery. What she doesn’t need are a pack of shifters who have trouble chasing them.

In this first book of the series, we find out a bit about both Ace and Rye and the reasons that they are being chased. This is quite a short story and although it was an easy read I think it needed a bit more suspense and action. There’s hot romance and attraction and I expect that the fighting between shifters will continue as the series moves forward.

So I don't normally read paranormal books let alone shifter ones. I think I may have only read one or two shifter prn books ever. So to say I was a little nervous going into this one would be fair, but I was pleasantly surprised by it. It took me a bit to get the whole lingo down I guess you could call it that, but after I got a grasp of who was who and what was going on it followed fairly well. There was so action and drama and some funny parts in it. I really enjoyed getting to see both their human sides and their cat sides and how their personalities were similar but distinctly different as well.

I'm even interested to see how the next book in this series goes, I may just have to pick it up sometime.

Right, so, I read a short story collection of lesbian stories and the first thing I read immediately after that is this heterosexual cat book here, then the sequel?

Eh, well. Cat. Shifter. Lead female character who is both a cat & super tough/strong/not a push over? All of that, including the heterosexual part, probably have some running for the exits? Me? Well I didn't know if I would want to read because heterosexual & because many 'tough strong women' tend to be quite tame in the actual story and/or tamed by a man. I didn't want to read that. I won't say if it turned out that way, because spoilers. But I did seemingly read this in one gulp and give it a rating of 5 stars.

Surprisingly some people I know (or, I mean follow or something) have also read this book. Sadly, they didn't like it. Eh, happens. I mention only as a counter balance to my mentioning I devoured and rated highly. On third hand - this free book.

Kitty Cat

I always wonder if these books are going to be only about sex. This book had a plot and I really like the characters. Aisling and Rygan we're fated mates, but it wasn't easy. I'm excited too read the next story about Daunte. He seemed pretty cool and it would be interesting to hear his side of the story sine he's Aisling's brother. 2.85 stars, happy reading!

A great story but just way to superficial, if the book had been longer and there would have been more information about the characters it would have been a 4 star book.

I thought this was pretty cute, having a pride of misfits who are shifters. Rygan is an alpha who has a good heart and he takes in orphans and makes them part of the family. There is a wolf pack that hunts down Rygan's family and he'll stop at nothing to protect them, even the strays and orphans he takes in. Throw in the mix a "loner" and it makes for a pretty interesting story line, but I felt like the characters weren't well enough developed; however, I do think they have promise so I will read book 2 and see how it works. I listened to audio and that was a little distracting for me since it had 2 narrators/readers and, for example, the guy would be speaking and if he was saying that Aisling said something like "ouch" then she would pipe in and say just that one word, so for some reason that was distracting for me. Otherwise it was cute enough for such a short story

I have to say that I just love the way May Sage writes, her characters are cool, and the stories are good, but I have the same problem with this book that I have with most of her books. Everything was going so well, but the end was so rushed. I would like her to write longer books, but even in a short book, it's possible to make a good ending transition, but I insist, that is as if she is happily writing and then she suddenly discovers that she has too many pages and has to finish the book as soon as possible. I always feel like something is missing. I really enjoy her books, if the endings could be better I would be so happy.

This time the book is about feline shifters, a paranormal romance that presents another side of one of her paranormal universes. I liked the characters and how she describes the world they live in. We have some very strong characters and I liked the relationship between them. It was sweet and fresh and hot.

Liked the heroine, I noticed a lot of writers go for a strong heroine but in a lot of the books i've read recently they come of really annoying, bitchy or stupid... not this heroine.

I have a rule: if I can imagine myself going through life without having read a book, said book can't get more than three stars. Having made that clear, I liked this book. I just didn't adore it, nor did I fall in love with it.

To be completely honest, I felt about this book the same as if I was reading a newspaper. It's not that it bored me or anything, it's just that it was done more to pass the time than anything else. Also, if it were any longer I wouldn't have bothered. There was just nothing that even remotely inspired any feelings in me. I didn't connect with the characters, there was barely any world-building, the romance wasn't so much romance as it was lust-that-turned-into-a-fated-bond. I think if this book was about animals that mated instead of shifters i would've awww'd more over it than I did over Ace and Rye.

Oh, I almost forgot: Rye was a conceited jerk. Like, he doesn't even know Ace and still he feels the need to judge her when she says this group of people --all of whom she's letting stay in her house out of the goodness of her heart-- can't go into the second floor of her house. The book is just full of little comments showing how little he thinks of her. In what world is he living? Please, the douchebag acts like it's his right to go into other people's houses and eat their food and overall interact with them whether they want to or not.

It's not that there's something "horrible" about the book - it's just that it's so perfected it's rather dull. The tribe conveniently has loads of money, and they through a convenient connection go to a woman who is also loaded with money and owns property perfect for their needs. She happens to be his mate. Too much falls into place too easily and too soon. There is no real reason for them to resist each other besides some backstory for the female character either. I didn't feel invested enough in the characters to care about any steamy stuff later, which came across rather bluntly when it was done anyway.

Reviewed at Shifter Haven

You know that unique, indescribable feeling you get when a story you’re reading really gets to you? When you really don’t want to leave that created world just yet, so maybe you read a bit slower near the ending? Yeah. I got that from my first time reading May Sage’s work in Kitty Cat. Such a soft, sweet title for such a kick ass book, ya know? I’ve got the next story downloaded ready to begin, and a very nice back list of stories to check out. I’m one happy reader at the moment.

In this world humans know about shifters, yet they don’t exactly trust them very much just yet. Like any unknown it’s frightening until you get to know someone and that happens a bit in this story. And hopefully will be enhanced in later ones as well. Raygan’s pride is under attack from wolves. The reason is unclear, yet they will not stop it seems until they all are destroyed. One of his pack members is a Seer, and the description of what is to come is enough for plans to be made to leave the area. One stray thought from the pack’s Beta is enough to send them into a lone shifter’s territory. One powerful, kick butt and take names shifter who isn’t exactly what she seems on the surface. Snarky, independent, stubborn and sexy are just a few words that Raygan would use to describe Aisling. His is the one word his tiger would use, but Raygan is ignoring his cat for the moment. With a temporary home, a wolf pack on their trail and troubles within his own pride, Raygan has enough to deal with… but getting Aisling out of his head is more difficult than he’d imagined.

Aisling is annoyed to find this pride in her territory. Even if she is always happy to see one particular member of it. They’re in trouble, and as much as she’d like to ignore the lot of them there’s something about the alpha that draws her in like catnip… and she’s very, very addicted to catnip. She’ll fight what they are to each other until she simply cannot any longer. When trouble heads right to their doorstep Aisling has a few tricks up her sleeve. Being a Lone cat shifter doesn’t mean she’s without friends… and her friends are very powerful. This wolf pack wants a fight… they’re going to get one.

Kitty Cat ticks all the right buttons for me. An intriguing, solid plot, likable characters, sexy moments, danger, tensions and enough secondary characters to keep this series addicted reader quite content for a while. I just happened to find this story as I was browsing through Amazon and I’m very grateful that I did. I like Ms. Sage’s style, I enjoy her characters and I definitely chuckled at her way with words. A good story with hopefully more about this group to come. I’d definitely recommend Kitty Cat to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader.

This has the page count of a novella but the plot of a full-length novel. Therefore, the characters seem flat, the big fights are barely two pages long and before you can care about anything, the book is over.
There was also a weird dichotomy between the human part and their animal counterpart that felt weird and made seem either side stupid at times.
And so many random sexist comment. One pack mate is belittled constantly for her sexual adventures in one sentence while talking about how free and non-judgemental shifters are in the next.

A shifter pride, fated mates, protective alphas. A fun quick and easy read that I actually found hard to put down.
It was a short book so I didn't get to know the characters super well, but I liked them and enjoyed their back-stories. The writing style was a little different to what I'm used to but I ended up enjoying it too. I'm looking forward to reading more of the series and other books by this author.

Good story

I liked Rye and Ace's story. There is a good amount of buildup, world building and suspense plotting, yet I found the mating itself to be rather quick and rushed for my taste, almost glossed over after such a build. All in all, though, a good read.

Lots of info dump and disappointment

Targeted by a pack of determined werewolves, Rygan’s pride seeks shelter in the Territory of the mysterious loner cat Aisling. Rygan expected a fight. He didn’t expect to find his fated mate.

So I’ve liked stuff by May Sage before, and I had high hopes for this series. I’ve been looking for a new paranormal romance series to get into. This will not be it.

I was disappointed. The story started off strong but quickly fell into the trap of info dump. There was so much exposition just hurled at the reader in huge chunks that it was unwieldy and clunky to read. This is something that I would’ve expected from a novice author, not somebody who’s got lots of lots of novels and series to their name. It’s lazy writing. It’s bad writing.

Worse, there’s a lot of unrealized potential in this novel, and it’s incredibly frustrating. There’s some honestly problematic tropes at play here, there’s bad depiction of women and men for that matter. And there is a lot,and I do mean a lot, of body shaming in this. Particularly fat shaming. But that’s not all of it by any means.

And for all of the sex positivity and massive amounts of build up and foreplay and crudeness, frankly the fact that we don’t see a single actual sex scene is incredibly, well, frustrating. It’s summarized in a single paragraph. It’s info dump: the sex scene.

Then there’s the ending. It’s as if the massive build up in relation to the sex and then blue balling the reader is foreshadowing for the whole plot. There’s a ton of build up to this giant confrontation with this werewolf pack. A confrontation that they build up to it and build up to it build up to calling in favors, recruiting allies. And when the climax finally hits, it’s a giant giant giant let down. I mean end of the entire twilight series kind of let down.

Frankly, I had expected better. This wasn’t good. And I will not be continuing with the series.

Two stars

A great paranormal read!

I've read a few books by May Sage now, but this was my first paranormal book by her. It was great! I like shifter stories, and this had all the elements I like in a shifter story: action, mating, and some world-building. Shorter (finished at 85%) but still plenty of meat for a read.

This story focuses on Rye and Ace. Rye is the alpha of his feline shifter pack, which has a variety of shifters and non shifters in it. He's passionate and dominant, a greast fighter and very protective of what's his. In other words, a perfect alpha. Ace, as mentioned in the summary, is his best friend's little sister, but Rye doesn't find that out until later hehehe. Ace is a loner shifter because of various reasons, but she's easy to like, just like Rye, and she's Rye's equal in every possible way, which I loved seeing. Those two go at it with one another, and it's fun to watch. Sparks fly between them, even if they're trying to if ore one another, and once they're together... woah! It's hot!

Overall I really loved this book! I wanted something short and spicy, and this delivered enough plot to keep me engaged, and moments between the couple to keep the romantic happy. It was a good mixture. The two definitely had instalove in the form of one true mate happening, but I don't mind it as much in this form. It was an enjoyable read, with steady pacing and not too many grammar errors. If you like shifter stories, I highly recommend this book!
