Partners on the Trail

Rate this book
Hank is a cowboy who's been around a bit, and has learned to live and let live, keeping his mouth shut and his gun holstered. Jasper is just a kid, and he hasn't learned that you can't charm your way out of everything. So when Hank has to do something drastic to save Jasper's life, he surprises them both. He's in love with the kid, after all, and Hank leaves town to try and keep him and Jasper both out of harm's way. What he doesn't realize is that Jasper has strong feelings for him too, and will track him down to ride with him again, because that's what partners on the trail do. Short and sweet

I dearly love a good Western and this was particularly nice. Most people are familiar with trail drives, but it's not often that you see an acknowledgment of the complexity of ranch life and the isolation endured but so many of the ranch-hands. Add to that a tender romance and all the bases are covered.

I love old west gay romance stories. .. but this one left Much to be desired. The characters were a bit one dimensional. The romantic relationship between Jasper and Hank was slow to progress and develop. it was a very short story but I felt as if the relationship developed very little. The characters seemed to have a strong connection but we didn't get to see much of it. It also woRks have been nice to have at least one full on sex scene that takes the opportunity to reveal the true feelings they have for one another.
