Fighting for Their Mate

Rate this book
Once a commander with the Intelligence Core for the Coalition Fleet, a mission gone wrong forced Chloe to return to Earth injured and dishonored. But she's seen too much and is restless in civilian life. This drives her to do whatever it takes to return to space, to where she belongs, so she volunteers as an Interstellar Bride. She's shocked to discover her mate is human, but he's like no one else she's ever met...and he's taken a second, a huge Prillon warrior equally determined to seduce her body and win her heart.

ReCon Captain, Seth Mills, lost both of his brothers to the Hive, and vows to continue fighting. His bride is an unwelcome shock, and he agrees to the Prillon custom of taking a second to protect the innocent woman destined to be his. No matter how determined he is to resist her allure, one touch, one kiss, and he knows he can never let her go.

Although she surrenders to their dominant touch, Chloe is no innocent. She's a commander with secrets she can't share. And when the entire Battlegroup is caught in a deadly Hive trap, she's the only one who can save them all, no matter the cost. But Chloe's mates won't let her go into battle alone. No matter the risk, they're willing to sacrifice everything...and fight for their mate.

Way better written than the first few books in the series. I've been reading these out of order, and I'm glad to see that the later installments are showing growth on the author's part.

This time, the plot surrounding the romance made sense. I didn't have to ever question the logic of any of the characters or their choices. The romance itself, though obviously follows the fated mates format, still gave some room for the characters to explore their relationship and build a more concrete bond over time. Like, yes, they hook up immediately, but they do show them falling in love after the fervor of the repeated steamy sessions.

Overall, I thought this one had an actual relevant plot, very little filler, exciting action scenes, snappy humor, and incredible sex scenes. If you're a Grace Goodwin fan, you know that those steamy scenes are like peak smut! If you want a quick sci-fi erotica to fill your time, this is a fun one to listen to.

I'm halfway through this damn basket, and this is my last IBP... moving on next to the Colony series.

3.5 All for Seth Stars

**This is a very biased review… I’m totally showing favoritism for one of my fav characters. ** G.G. mixes things up with a human girl, human male, and a Prillon threesome. Seth has been around for several books. He was rescued in his sis’s book Mated To The Beast, and was Megan’s captain in Mating Fever. He’s matched with Chloe, but doesn’t plan on accepting the match because his job is super dangerous, and he doesn’t want to leave a widow. Enter fellow captain Dorian, a Prillon who has lost his cousin who was his primary mate. (they mate in 2’s) He suggests that they enter a standard Prillon threesome with Dorian second mate, so if either of them dies… their mate would be taken care of.

This kind of worked for me. I really liked Seth going in, so I was a smidge bummed that he had to share a mate. I also found it a bit of a stretch that this bossy alpha male would even agree to share his woman, and I didn’t think it was set up (developed) into a believable “partnership”. For the Prillons this is very much a cultural thing, but not really for humans, so I expected a bit more conversation/issues… but I guess this is smut... so no-one cares. :-)

It’s actually the first multi-mates book I’ve read in this series, and I was curious of the logistics. Basically, there’s a primary mate that pretty much calls the shots during sexytime, and a secondary male. They have sex together, watch each other, and do double penetration, but the dudes have zero interaction with each other.

Bottom Line- Chloe was totally kickass. She was portrayed quite strong, and was still a supportive partner. I liked how she outranked them, (Commander Phan) and called the shots outside the bedroom, but deferred to them within the couple. (Lady Mills) I know this is smut, but I would’ve liked more page time dealing with the relationship dynamic rather than them just doing it all the time. There’s a nice epilogue 19-months later… and if you don’t want to read Anghar’s book… the current pregnancy is

I enjoyed everything about this unique story. I loved the fact the bride had a military history in the coalition. I loved her independence, military rank & the covert intelligence angle. I loved the captains & the mix of species, customs, & the compromises made in their lives to make a successful living & working arrangement. No stay at home brides here! ❤️ 5 unconventional stars!

Chloe has seen and experienced too much as a Coalition intelligence commander to transition back as a civilian on Earth upon her discharge. Her last resort is to register as an Interstellar Bride hoping that a return to what she's known will give her back a measure of control and contentment that she's now lacking.

Captain Seth Mills is spiraling in a self destructive suicidal path and knows it. Having experienced what the HIVE can and does do to those captured, he's resigned to destroying the HIVE until he himself is killed in the line of duty.

In a moment of stupidity Seth agreed to be tested for the Interstellar Bride program to appease his sister, but, after a year on the registry, it's all but certain there will be no HEA ending for him. That is until he's notified that an incoming female is being transported to the Flag Ship of the Battlegroup Karter. A female who has been 99.8% matched to him.

Prillion warrior Dorian has watched as others have been matched to their fated female knowing it will never happen for him as his second is dead and Prillion culture requires two for a valid claiming bond. When he hears that his good friend Seth is rejecting his female, Dorian steps in to volunteer as Seth's second, something that's never been done between Prillion and Earth males before. The way is then cleared for Seth, Dorian, and Chloe to explore their relationship and bond, if that is what is meant to be.

Chloe is thrilled to be back on a Coalition warship though she has no rank or entitlement to active duty status. That all changes when Commander Karter recognizes her worth and prior experience in the Intelligence core and entices her to accept a command grade commission under him. The catch is her role in fighting the HIVE is far above top secret classification and she's therefore restricted from sharing any details with Seth or Dorian.

How can the three make their relationship work when secrets have to remain secrets and Chloe's new rank means she is their superior. All while the HIVE are about to unleash a game changer that would deal a devastating blow to Coalition forces unless Chloe can find the means to discover their plan and stop them.

Another installment in the Interstellar Brides series that follows the general cookie cutter story line of previous installments. Of course there are some deviations as the main character personalities and roles differ from book to book but overall... ya, been there, done that.

The difference with this installment is that the author did introduce a new HIVE scare that intrigued me. Chloe's part in all this further added value to the story so there is that to look forward to for potential readers. I'm not sure I'm happy or sad the way this story ended though but for purely self centered greedy reasons.

The romance between the main characters is a delightful menage mfm erotic romance format with a side of BDSM. For those readers who love the dominant male/submissive female intimacy scenes this is sure to be a hit.

The secondary characters continue to indicate the series will continue for the foreseeable future. I defy anyone not to fall in love with Atlan Warlord Angh though I feel the author missed the mark on this character. Time will tell and to each their own but me, nope, wanted something different here.

For those who are fans of this series and author, grabbing this book is more a self decision as to enjoying the series as a whole and willing to pay the publish price for that experience. This installment was a step above previous books in the series in the addition of a mystery-suspense element but continues to be more a cookie cutter SciFi romance otherwise.

ps. I'm still on record protesting Warden Egara's continued situation.

What a great twist in the Interstellar Brides series! At loose ends back on Earth since her medical discharge from the coalition forces, Chloe decides she needs to go back into space. The only way to get back though is to volunteer as an Interstellar Bride. But Chloe is no ordinary bride. In fact, even her potential mates have no idea who she really is since her file is classified. Can a commander in the coalition forces really fit in as an Interstellar Bride? Can she really submit to not one but two mates? This was a great read as Chloe, Seth and Dorian all try to make a relationship work that none of them ever expected to have. Plenty of action and steamy scenes keep this series going but all of the books can be read on their own.

“I can’t let you go.” She lifted a hand to my face. “I know. I can feel it. It’s okay.”

Chloe, Dorian, and Seth Mills are warriors. Seth gets a bride but won’t take her out of fear. He doesn’t want to leave a widow. Lucky for him Dorian just lost his first/second. Not sure but his cousin was just killed and now he has to find another warrior to share a bride with. It works for them and again with the feels. These stories have so many intense emotions.

This is another good one by Grace Goodwin. Chloe has matched with her mate a human earth male fighting with the Coalition. When Seth finds out he has been matched he doesn't want her. He refuses to leave a wife and children alone if something happens to him. So when his friend Dorian says he would like to be his "second" Seth jumps at the chance.
Chloe has no idea that she is being sent to two mates. But she doesn't pass at the idea. Chloe also has a past with the Coalition which comes up.
Again another good addition to the interstellar bride series. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.

I wonder what Warden Egara would think of the latest Interstellar Bride she sent to the Battlegroup Karter. Not only did she end up with two, instead of one mate, but she's also not the person she seemed to be.
Perfectly happy and quite 'compatible' with her mates, she turns out to be an invaluable asset in the fight against the Hive.
This latest addition to the Colony is an über-steamy union of three strong individuals. They love and they fight together, both with the same passion.

All I have to say is WOW!!! I’ve never read Ms. Goodwin before but I’m a convert now. Chloe has been returned to Earth medically discharged with a failed mission under her belt. But her life wasn’t on Earth anymore and she would do anything and everything to get back into space, even volunteer to be an Interstellar Bride. To her shock she is matched to a fellow human from Earth.

To say Captain Seth Mills was elated to be matched with a Bride would be a huge misconception, he absolutely doesn’t want to be matched. Seth lost both of his brothers to the Hive and doesn’t want to subject an innocent woman to have to be alone without a mate if something happens to him. Dorian steps in to volunteer to be his second as per Prillion custom. Chloe is a surprise to both males in that she has space experience in some secret capacity well secret until Commander Karter recruits her. She has secrets that she can’t share with her mates and that doesn’t sit well with the two dominant males. When the entire community is flying into a trap will they all be able to work together to escape with their lives?

** I voluntarily read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review **

This is a super fun one in the Interstellar Bride series!

Chloe is the heroine of this one and she gets matched to another human who is in the alien coalition. His name is Seth and he is terrified to have a mate. He doesn't want to leave a mate and potential child to live alone if he ends up injured at war. So he ends up taking a second male (named Dorian) to also be Chloe's mate and to make sure she is never alone. The three of them fall in love while fighting a dangerous battle in space.

This one was definitely my favorite Prillan Prime book! I thought the plot was super unique compared to other books in the series and I loved reading about a woman who is fighting in the coalition.

This book came across my suggestions, and I had to take a look at it. It's not my normal read, since I'm not usually into space/sci-fi type of stuff, but new year, new trope!

I found myself really enjoying the book. Chloe is missing excitement in her life, and her return to Earth just isn't cutting it. She signs up for an interstellar brides program, and gets matched with Captain Seth Mills on an outpost, and he isn't exactly happy to have someone to take care of. Dorian steps in and they agree to the Prillon custom of sharing a mate, to make sure she and any children are always protected.

But Chloe isn't what she seems...and I love her!

I'll be honest, this isn't usually my trope. The alien or interstellar reads, but this was hot, sexy, fun and a fast read that I did enjoy. When you decide to go back to space and join the bride program what happens when instead of one groom there is two? This was a great and interesting book and the author did a fantastic job bringing me into the story. Thank you for allowing me to read this and write honestly about it.

Better than expected

I wasn’t prepared for a human human story. Gross I can get those anywhere. So, I love what Goodwin did by making it more unique and true to the series. Although, I would have loved more background as I always say she needs at least 100 more pages to flesh out the book

Are you familiar with the phrase "Too Many Chiefs and Not Enough Indians"?? Chloe was a soldier fighting for the Coalition and she had a special gift. One that almost got her killed, so she was sent back to earth to retire. In order to get back into space she decides to become a bride for the Interstellar Fleets. Seth has been promised a bride and Dorian, as his second, will be receiving Chloe but Seth isn't so sure about this situation. He's scared about what would happen if the Hive should kill him or Dorian. They are both going to be VERY surprised by the outcome of their union to Chloe and so will you. Another GREAT read by the talented Ms. Grace Goodwin. Enjoy the ride !!

My Review:

**4 stars**

Seriously, what's not to like about finding not one guy who's absolutely perfect for you, but two?

I liked Chloe's character. As a wife with a military background, I completely understood her struggle with hating to keep secrets from her mates, but also wanting to maintain her integrity to her job. I also loved that her mates were understanding. Quite a bit of the books I've read that are similar to this one portray the males as so overprotective and possessive they refuse to allow the woman to be who she is and do what she does, therefore causing a rift in the relationship. That wasn't the case here. While Seth and Dorian were possessive and protective, they were able to find pride in their mate and allow her to flourish. And I loved that Seth was human, but dominant (puny mate, ha)!

My only complaint about this book is that when Chloe's past came back and it was like deja vu all over again, it just played out. Commander Karter said he heard everything that happened and I'm not sure if it was while it was happening or after the fact, but I expected him to speak up sooner. Also, the blurb gave me the impression that Chloe and her mates would be fighting together and while close, I got something totally different from the book.

Overall, enjoyed it and look forward to more from this author.

I love these quick and dirty Interstellar Brides series books! In Fighting for Their Mate, there’s a bit of a change up in the process. Chloe is a 99% match with Captain Seth Mills. But there’s a little bit of a problem there . . . Seth is an active duty fighter and doesn’t want to give up the battle, so when his best friend, Dorian, a Prillon warrior, offers to be Seth’s Second, it’s an offer none of them expect, and don’t want to refuse.

Chloe, Seth and Dorian have an instant chemistry and the sexual sparks fly! But there’s another little secret between the three of them—Chloe outranks both Seth and Dorian in the Coalition. As a former Commander in the Intelligence Core, Chloe chose to join the Interstellar Bride program out of boredom on Earth, and her desire to be back out in space . . . but her skill set is desperately needed and Commander Karter recognizes the need.

Now it’s up to Chloe, Seth and Dorian to figure out the right balance in this unexpected triad.

Fighting for Their Mate is another excellent addition to the series. I loved that the “match” was human to human—a first for the series. Plus the sexy AF addition of Dorian to the match. *fans self* I can’t wait to see what’s next in this series! ~ Missy, 4 stars

This book is so different from the others yes it starts with the interstellar brides but this bride is completely different she has already been to space she not only has a score to settle but two handsome mates to live her life with and for but she has 30 days to decide as she was matched with one man but she has two....

I loved the book I loved the characters I adore how the author is able to give us so much more and yet this world can go on and on... And I so hope it does.

I am a huge fan of Grace Goodwin's books. She is an expert when it comes to combining sci-fi and romance and each book she writes gets better and better.

Fighting for their Mate is full of all Grace Goodwin goodness, it's steamy and erotic with a fun and interesting story. I love a book about a strong independent but submissive heroine and two loving strong alphas!

This particular story is full of everything we've come to expect from Grace with an interesting twist! I highly recommend Fighting for their Mate!

Lots to like about this one - full of action, swoon worthy heroes and a feisty and smart heroine who has a penchant for submitting in the bedroom. Great storyline, likeable characters and plenty to keep you entertained. Much more than just the sex scenes in this one. Recommend this read.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I enjoyed this story and loved the chemistry between Chloe, Seth and Dorian. I also loved that Seth was from earth and was the dominant character in the relationship. The action was fun to read and, as always, the writing and editing was good. The Interstellar Brides series takes place at a time where aliens are real and there are several different planets and species. There is a galactic enemy known as the hive, which is a technological species that invades planets and either kills its inhabitants or transforms their captives into one of them. A coalition was formed between the planets who are at war with the hive. Each member of the coalition is required to supply soldiers and brides to the cause. Soldiers to fight the hive, and brides to repopulate the diminished that have fallen victim to the war. There is a neurological test that a bride takes to me matched to their perfect alien planet, then their perfect alien match on that planet, through a series of sexual desires that only our subconscious can answer for. Earth allows for volunteers to apply to the program, or grants female criminals the option to become a bride over a prison sentence. Those who volunteer are paid a healthy sum of money, and those who are prisoners are given clean slates. All applicants are required to give up their Earth citizenship to become a resident of their new chosen planet. A bride has 30 days to accept or reject their match. If they accept their claim, they are mated to their new alien husband for the rest of their lives where they are expected to make babies. If they reject their mate, they are assigned a new one on that same planet. Where they are still expected to make babies. Warden Egara makes continued appearances throughout the series as she is the one who processes the brides in the Florida.

Written in first person, Fighting For Their Mate is book 12 in this series and follows the human bride Commander Chloe Phan and her mates Captain Seth Mills (a human) and Captain Dorian Kanakar (a Prillion) both soldiers stationed on the Karter Battleship. This book is super interesting as it has many dynamics that don’t follow the typical standards of protocol. For starters, Chloe was a soldier for the IC unit for 4 years before retiring back on Earth. After settling in and working as a 911 operator, she decided that her service in space made it impossible to settle back on Earth, so she volunteered for the bride program. After she was mated to active duty soldiers, and Commander Karter received word of her background, he reinstated her as a Civilian Commander in his service, returning her title which gave her a higher authority than her mates (loved that btw). Secondly, Chloe’s match was a human Captain named Seth Mills. We first met Seth in book 5 “Mated To The Beast,” when he was taken captive by the hive and his sister Sarah Mills rescued him alongside her mate Warlord Dax. Seth had tested for a bride a year before getting his match as a drunken Christmas present to his sister. He had all but forgotten about his testing when Chloe was processed and on her way. He initially planned on refusing the match (which he couldn’t have done) because of his fear of getting captured by the hive again or dying in battle, and leaving his bride a widow. His best friend, a Prillion pilot named Dorian, was his cousin’s second before he died in battle. Dorian suggested becoming Seth’s second as a solution to his fear. Seth agreed, and they both claimed Chloe with no issues or jealousy. Which is unfathomable as I couldn’t imagine a human man being able to share their woman. Seth must’ve been that mysterious unicorn 🦄 we keep reading about. Anyway, I digress. With a Prillion second, they got the benefit of the collars and a double penetration claiming, but without the audience. Seth winds up being as dominating, possessive and virile as any other alien we’ve come to love, and they are both happy to take commands from their mate outside the bedroom. There winds up being a trap set by the hive that almost killed the entire fleet, but Chloe and an Atlan named Anghar (who had also made appearances in prior books and was saved by Seth from the hive in this one - I have no doubt that we will see him again on the colony) saved everyone with brilliant thinking and quick action.

There were a couple times that I found myself chuckling at the witty humor in this book. I laughed when Seth went to carry Chloe over the threshold, but Dorian didn’t want to be left out, so he carried them both over the threshold. When Dorian suggested that Seth go back to bed and get some more sleep, but he refused to do it without Chloe in between them - some male bonding humor. And I didn’t necessarily laugh, but I LOVED it when Seth punched Commander Bruvan, the douche deserved more than a broken nose. I loved that neither Seth or Dorian got all possessive when Chloe hugged Anghar, or was forced to be tethered closely to him. They were trusted that she only had eyes for her men. I truly enjoyed the differences this book provided above the others.

As I’ve read through this series and all its spin offs, I can attest that the plot is incredibly addictive. I am way too invested in each book, in all its adventure and romance. Grace Goodwin has ruined me for all other romance novels. After reading her material, I find the others to be tame, dull and overall anticlimactic. I am not ashamed to admit that I have read each of her books at least twice. This book was no exception, I heavily recommend it.

Fighting for Their Mate is the twelfth book of the Interstellar Brides Program Sci – Fi series. This book can be read as a standalone, but it shouldn’t be read as a standalone book, only because, one of the main characters Seth Mills, was introduced in the fifth book of this series, “Mated to the Beast”. I was super surprised to read about Seth as one of the main characters. I thought he had this sexy, military, bad boy attitude in Mated to the Beast. But, he really shines in Fighting for Their Mate.

Chloe Phan, is an Interstellar Bride from earth that fought in the Hive wars, but was put on inactive duty following an accident caused by one of her own. Chloe mentioned being in the same squad as Megan Simmons and Warlord Nyko in “Mating Fever, though I couldn’t find her in it. Chloe is an IC, implanted with Hive technology, to be able to decipher the Hive’s so called “language” and technology. She is part of a special unit within the Coalition designed to steal and to use Hive’s own technology against them. Chloe is a hard driven career woman, who’s a sexy; go get your man commander in the Coalition. She enlisted in the Bride Program because; Earth wasn’t home to her anymore.

Seth Mills was introduced in the fifth book of this series, “Mated to the Beast”. Seth was military through and through. He lost two brothers in the Hive wars and that made him want to fight the good fight to end the Hive. His sister Meghan Mills is mated to an Atlan Warlord named Warlord Nyko. Seth a tall six foot six, broad, dominate and sexy Captain fleet fighter.

Dorian, a flight fighter in the Hive wars, is a Prillion and second to Seth. Dorian convinces Seth to accept Chloe as his bride, when Seth initially didn’t want a bride because, he didn’t’ want to die and leave a wife and possibility children. Dorian has always wanted a bride and sharing Chloe with Seth is a Prillion custom. Dorian is also a dominate, and at almost eight feet tall, broad shouldered and built better than a statue of David.

In every series book of the “Hive Wars” the plot gets better, and the understanding of the technology of this vicious enemy gets scarier. While out in the field fighting Hive soldiers, Seth is told he has a Bride from Earth arriving. Seth absolutely did not want a Bride. Dorian talked Seth into accepting his Bride, and Dorian also offered himself as Seth’s “second” or Chloe’s second mate. Seth agrees only if Dorian is his second. Once Chloe arrives as Seth and Dorian’s bride, she is re – enlisted back into active duty as one of a few others as commander aboard the Kater battleship and the battleship group of ships patrolling the Hive boarder, where Seth and Dorian are stationed. Chloe’s position also has made her Seth and Dorian’s commanding officer which doesn’t bother either of them.

The Hive has set a trip for the battle group, an invisible land mine net that is almost undetectable except for Chloe and an Atlan warlord named, Agnh that was implanted with Hive technology that discovers this trip. Of course with almost every situation of a strong woman, the one person that wants to knock her down is her blast from the past jealous male commanding officer that was responsible for getting her injured and put on in active duty. Needless to say, Chloe and Warlord Agnh deactivated the net; Chloe saves Agnh from deep space. And her abilities earned her a permanent position with the fleet.

Both Seth and Dorian think Chloe commanding position is hot. They give her all the respect, and it’s not written like they aren’t any less alpha males, when they start a family and Dorian becomes the stay at home dad and they all eventually move to Prillon Prime, all brought about by the decision of Chloe’s initial decision.

I gave the review of these book five stars out of five. The suspense is well written. Ms. Goodwin touched on a strong woman with not one but two dominate men. She wrote the characters like many women in Chloe’s position can relate too. Women can be in a position of authority and still want that dominate man. The male characters didn’t seem any less of men, just because their woman was their superior. In fact, the men respected their woman more, and for her to have saved an entire battle fleet and more, well that just makes you fall in love with them too

This book had all the things I've come to enjoy from the IBP series: Hive tensions, Commander Karter, Atlan hero, an admirable, strong, courageous heroine, steamy smut, Commander Karter, incredible Hive action, dreamy, respectful, fantastical mates, Commander Karter putting a hoe or two in his place, valuing his female fighters once again, exalting Chloe, laughing at how ridiculously possessive and clowish these mates act, and then going full dad mode with little Dara in the ending. It's basically perfect.

Yet, I still have some complaints.

1. As much I liked this was Seth's story I can't help but wish that I would have wanted Seth being matched to an alien girl instead. That would have been more interesting like how are Atlan girls like?? Or Vikens? Or even Prillon women? They are made to be so insipid, without personalities. But what if instead of having a submissive mate Seth made her see a “whole new world” —literally — to be more independent and confident and more Earthlike! I think it was a missed opportunity for a reverse story 😔 I mean I could enjoy the fantasy just fine reading from the perspective of an alien woman.

2. But ok the story is like this and can't be helped and yet I would have wanted for Seth and Chloe really, to go deeper into how they feel being mated as humans. Like, how do they feel knowing a computer got into their subconscious and found a 99% match compatibility. What would this mean for other humans mated like this?? Does it make them lose a bit of their humanity?? Would it be a good idea to have this tech mass assembled?? And if it did, would it solve the intrapersonal relationships between men and women?? Does this apply to lgbtqia+ couples? Would it? Bc honestly I don't like how Seth talks like a Prillon warrior but there's no real background on how much he now is one of them even in thought? How was he before he became a Coalition soldier? Idk it's so many questions that are not explored and obviously that's not the point of the book but it wouldn't have hurt to include some of this in the plot. It would have enhanced it even more, for sure.

3. Seth kinda making me unstan him when Dorian suggested he take a rest on their bed and Seth freaked and told him he'd “only share a bed with him if it's with Chloe” and IT'S LITERALLY JUST SLEEPING!!!?? DORIAN DIDN'T EVEN MEAN IT ANY OTHER WAY??? AND EVEN IF HE DID, SO WHAT??? BEING SUCH A HOMOPHOBE IS SO NEEDLESS LIKE???? These men need to break free from the shackles of toxic masculinity and homophobia ! Grace Goodwin I can't stand you sometimes. Let these guys be openly and happily gay for each other for once, the characters are screaming it anyway!

4. The mistake of confusing Sarah's mate's name. Though, I won't hold it against Ms. Goodwin bc she's written so many of these books it's easy to slip up.

With these complaints the five stars might seem inflated but having Commander Karter here, giving us really tensed and interesting Hive plots and an amazing genius as a MC and an Atlan makes up for all of this. Seriously, the writing here was so good. There's a definite, blooming growth. This is another IBP book I'd recommend if you just have to read one Interstellar Brides book.

LADY MILLS—CLAIMED—COLLARED—OURS

As with the other Interstellar Bride books by Ms. Grace Goodwin, they read great as a continuing saga, but each book will read well as a stand-alone. The story is full of secrets, danger, missions, adventure, angst, attitude, loyalty, passion, love, duty and yes, some karma, too. This is the story of Chloe Phan, Seth Mills, both of Earth and Dorian of Prillon, and a new beginning at Battlegroup Karter.

Chloe Phan at been Commander with IC but after another commander’s actions lead to the death of many team members and her injured, the blame went against her and not him, forcing her into medical retirement. She held a secretive codetalker position and is unable to talk about her service because of the level of security clearance. She will choose to enter the Interstellar bride program and go back into space because she doesn’t feel she belongs on Earth anymore.

Captain Seth Mills and Captain Dorian work in a dangerous area under Commander Karter. What a shock to learn that Seth has been matched with his mate and she is arriving soon. Dorian, as a Prillon, was to be second to his cousin in claiming a mate together, but the Hive had killed his cousin. Seth knowing the Prillon custom will ask Dorian if he will be his second, and together they will claim the bride that is on her way. His reasoning is the danger of their missions, and not wanting to leave a widow or children alone, once mated, they can’t return to Earth.

“Are you sure about this?” She asked me, but turning her attention back to Seth. “He’s Prillon. You’re human. If we do this, you can’t change your mind later and go, caveman, if I want to jump his bones. Or if I fall in love with him, too. Or if I have a Prillon baby instead of a human on.” She was listing off these possibilities as if they were sure, foregone conclusions. That she would love me. Desire me. Want my child in her womb.”

It is agreed upon by the three of them, and also to add the Prillon custom of mating bands wore around all three necks that would state to the world, they were claimed. The bands also shared feelings and emotions among the three.

The story will take on life and death, and because of Chloe’s expertise and experience, she will go back into active duty with Battlegroup Karter. While she will be fourth in command as a Commander, behind their quarter doors, she will be their submissive and surrender to them as their mate.

“Two men. Wanting me. Loving me. Protecting me. Touching me.

“Yes. Dorian. I want you. I want both of you.”

“It was wild and rough. Dark and dirty. Carnal and primitive. I loved it.”

“They had much to prove, for a while I was a commander, I was their mate. Under their complete control.”

The entire Karter team will be battling with the Hive, and it will take Commander Phan and an Atlan Warlord to make a difference. Life and death aren’t just for this area; it was many planets and colonies, even Earth that needed their skills to defeat the enemy and survive.

“Nothing in my life had gone according to plan, and I’d never been so grateful.”

Captain Seth Mills sent his team to set explosive charges along the hallways of the small freighter formerly under the control of the Hive. A dozen Prillon warriors they had come to rescue were pinned down in the engine room and under fire. Unfortunately, the Hive also had an Atlan warlord whom they had modified extensively. If his Beast emerged, the rescue team would all be destroyed. They had a new weapon to try against the Hive. Captain Mills threw it and moved back around the corner – there was silence and they figured it had failed to stop them. Rounding the corner again, however, they saw the Hive silently screaming as the weapon made a high-pitched sound. And then the Atlan’s Beast stood there and, for a brief moment, the Atlan Angh spoke to them, asking for death.

Mills had Trinity prepare the entire batch of tranquilizer injections. If they could not subdue the Atlan, they would have to kill him. The Prillons distracted the Beast and Mills leaped on his back, injecting the tranqs into his neck until he finally fell to the floor unconscious! With two minutes to spare, they ran to the shuttle and escaped the explosion. As they returned to the fleet, Commander Karter informed a dismayed Captain Mills – who had signed up at his sister’s urging a year ago -- that he had been matched and his mate was on her way! He didn’t want a mate who would be put at risk if something happened to him.

Chloe Phan was in the midst of her dream sequence at the Interstellar Brides Processing Center. She was in a dark place experiencing her acceptance of two mates – she had never known anything like this before. She felt surrounded by love, devotion, trust – until her mates faded away and she woke up.

Dorian Kanakor, the Prillon pilot who had escaped the freighter with Seth Mills, angrily confronted him about his attitude. To him, a bride was a precious gift. To refuse, as Seth was trying to do, was not acceptable. But Dorian had an idea to propose. If Seth agreed, Dorian would be his second – a practice Prillons followed – and each would take care of their mate and children if anything happened to the other. To his surprise, Seth agreed if his bride accepted the arrangement. Would she allow the second mate? Could the three of them share their love and trust? Chloe has secrets of her own that will impact their relationship – will it bring them together or tear them apart?

This author is such a powerful writer who can build an entire planetary world around the reader so that it feels real and viable. We have been given an intriguing story in this exciting series. The story line, character development, and writing are top-notch, as you can always expect with this author’s books. I have no hesitation about recommending any of her books. The writing is so good that it will keep the readers on the edge of their seats to find out if a dangerous Atlan can be saved, if the Hive will retaliate, and if Captain Mills will be able to accept his mate he doesn’t want to bring into his dangerous life. My review is completely voluntary and unbiased.
