Their agreement gives him her body. But she won’t give him her heart... Hannah Maven is in a crisis! Her twin sister Helen was abducted by the Clenok cyborgs while on a supply mission and no one will volunteer to help Helen bring her sister home. So when strong aliens known as the Veruka show up unexpectedly she knows that these strong weredragon soldiers are the key to bringing her sister home. But what Captain Jex Kailen asks for in return is absolutely inappropriate! Captain Jex Kailen will do as his King ordered. He will go on a mission to spread the virus that can bring down the Clenok cyborgs. But while he is on this mission he might as well undergo his own mission – find a human female to mate with. Mating with a human female will protect him from the Blackness plague that is making the rounds and killing Veruka. He will not succumb to such a death and will do what it takes to stop from getting it in the first place. So when the human female Helen ask for his help, he has no choice but to take advantage of her situation and make an agreement – her body in exchange for helping her find her sister. Helen wants to hate this brute weredragon alien, but seeing him battle all sorts of things in order to protect her is too attractive. He makes her feel safe for the first time in years and she is slowly succumbing to his charms. But when she finds out the truth behind their agreement contract, she knows that she can’t trust him because if he kept a big secret like that, then what else is he hiding? But when the mission to find her sister goes wrong, she knows that she needs his help, betrayal or not. Jex (Weredragons Of Tuviso) is the third book in the Weredragons Of Tuviso Standalone series. It’s a very very light read, and while parts of the story were interesting it was highly silly in places. It read very clumsily and there was no depth.
King Karik ordered Captain Jex Kailen and his soldiers to report back in 6 months from the human colony he was heading to. They were not even sure the human colonies they were told about would still be there, but they were hopeful. They carried a computer virus to the humans that would help defeat the cyborgs who had taken over Earth and were trying to kill off the inhabitants. If they could infect the main computer that controlled the cyborgs, it would wipe out the cyborgs in their area. The weredragons were helping Earth by providing the virus. And Earth was able to help the weredragons by mating with those affected by the deadly blackness plague which targeted their Veruka race. The blending of the human and weredragon DNA provided a cure. Jex and his men took off for Willow Springs to see if anyone was still alive there.
Helen Maven was sitting on the bank watching the sparkling water of the bay. She saw a boat coming with one of the men from the supply run that morning – which had included her sister, Hannah! He was wounded and said they were attacked by cyborgs! Many did not survive, but Hannah was actually taken captive by the cyborgs, which was not at all typical of the vicious machines! Minutes later, 5 space ships flew toward the gathered humans and everyone except Helen ran inside to hide. Two weredragons flew down and Helen approached them. Were these aliens really going to help them as they said they would? Why did the cyborgs kidnap her sister? What are they planning? And, if the human settlement survived, would Helen be willing to mate with Jex as he had planned so he could avoid the blackness plague?
This is an enjoyable series, although it needs a good editor to fix the numerous errors that detract from it (for example, “the humans were power ring inside” instead of “cowering inside”). But overlooking the errors, I particularly enjoy the character development as we meet the heroes and learn their strengths. The story line is a consistently good one, with each book of the series focusing on a different human outpost and how it fits in with the rest of the series. Check it out and see what you think!
Helen Maven and her twin sister Hannah live in the small outpost called Willow Springs. Hannah has been taken by the Clenok cyborgs.. Helen is determined to find and rescue her. Jex Kailen has been ordered by his king to find and protect a human outpost in the Northeast United States. He and his soldiers are to distribute a virus to kill the cyborgs and find a human women to bond with to destroy or present the blackness. Upon arrival in allow Springs Jex meets Helen and a bargain is struck. He helps her find Hannah and she will allow him use of her body. Unknown to Helen more is involved than Sex has stated. Will they find Hannah and rescue her? Who is the mysterious Veruka who has taken Hannah? I give this story 5 stars. "I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy without pressure to do so".
My favorite of Ms. Starr's Weredragon's. Jex is willing to fight to the death but not die because a flaw in his DNA and mating with Hannah will save his life so he uses it as leverage for his help. I love the excitement and perils faced by Jex and Hannah while searching for Helen, Hannah's twin. The dialogue is snarky and incendiary and you can see both of their points. Every page is filled with action, arguments and scorching attraction! Love it!! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
So the Veruka and humans have only been battling the cyborgs in the past books in this series, but this book introduced a new kink in the plot. I think it has a good deal of potential if it's allowed to take a more prominent role. I also liked how the relationship between Jex and Helen started out as an indecent proposal, but ended with them finding love. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book, and I borrowed it through the Kindle Unlimited program too.
This quick read is a done in one that builds on the previous stories, but is written in a manner that does not require reading the previous stories to understand what is going on here.
Trust issues, honesty, and the value of a person's word may be the simplest way to get to the heart of this story, but through their adventure Jex and Helen deal with those thorny issues and much more.
Third book in the series. Jex is an alien weredragon. He and other males have come to Earth for a cure to a disease. Well they found it and couldn’t be more surprised on what it is. Helen’s twin is missing from a supply run and taken by cyborgs. She will do anything to save her. Even if it means getting way better acquainted with a gorgeous alien male. Things do heat up while fighting those cyborgs and even an escaped tiger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
This was a another page turner, and action packed. Loved the snarky banter between Jex and Hannah made for a enjoyable and entertaining read. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no minority compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
This third installment in the Tuviso series is another winner for Maia Starr. Helen's feelings towards Jex made it a very "interesting" search for her sister. I loved the chemistry between the two..It made for quite an interesting read. Can't wait for her sister's story. Now that should prove to quite interesting... Loved it!!
I received an ARC copy of this book and I have read and reviewed it. Therefore giving my voluntary honest review.
This third installment was just as adventurous as the other two. I liked Jex's approach. He was going in focused on just healing himself. Alas the love bug hit him. Not only that he found himself a feisty and interesting HUMAN. The adventure is well worth the read. Good novel.
Woah. I mean just Woah. I just have nothing to say other than you get two star because I was able to read you to the end. Short it may be but ohhhhhhhh. So much potentially that was just not developed or areas that were not explored.
Another great alien romance from this author ive read a lot of her books and can say I've enjoyed them all this one included definitely worth reading I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
Maia Starr has done it again. Another great book in a series that only Ms Starr can write. Be sure that you get any of her series. You'll be very surprised at how realistic and believable her writing is. Don't miss ANY of her books.
While I liked this story, it needed some very serous editing, both for crammer and spelling. A lot of the sentences did not make sense; for example "... they were mates for the phones." The flow is good, but the story needs a lot of work.
I loved that this group of dragons 🐉 has to come to Earth instead of stealing the women away. Just seeing the difference in the way the dragons treat the women 😲 thi
Story is good. It moves along pretty good. But really needs better proofreading, especially when publishing - very distracting from the flow of the story.
I totally enjoyed this story and the others in this series. I have to point out, though, that there were so many editing errors that it was getting to be distracting.
Story is good. It moves along pretty good. But really needs better proofreading, especially when publishing - bad enough that I found it very distracting from the flow of the story.
I have read this book as an ARC reader. This is my freely given review. Maia Starr has raised the standard in shifter books! Her dragons fly above the rest! Earth is still under attack from the Clenok cyborgs. The warriors of Veruka have joined the humans in the battle. Captain Jex Kailen has been dispatched to Willow Springs with a small army to protect the humans living there. That isn't the only reason Jex is going. He wants to mate with a human female so that he doesn't come down with the deadly 'darkness plague' that is killing the males on his planet Tivos. Mating with a femal from earth cures this sickness, as the female's DNA is shared to the weredragon. Helen Maven has a twin sister that has been captured by the cyborgs. She approaches Jex to help her to find her sister and rescue her, however there's a catch. Jex will only help her if she agrees to mate with him when Hannah is safe. Will Jex and Helen find Hannah in time? Will Helen really follow through with the deal? This is another page turner, and action packed book that has you guessing what will happen next. Beware, this book will keep you reading to the end! I highly recommend this book to all the shifter adventure lovers! Enjoy, Ruth Newton
Third of series I've read. Story is fine but the proof reading is clearly absent. Really annoying! Constantly needed to stop and decipher the text. I may choose to forego future episodes.
