G.K. De Rosa has been an avid reader from a very young age. In fact, before she could even read, she tried fooling everyone into thinking that she could. At the precocious age of two, while living in Italy, she had memorized an entire children’s book in Italian and expertly turned the pages at the exact right moments of the story. As she grew up, she always enjoyed literature, no doubt having been instilled with a love of story telling from her early years in Catholic school where she was greatly influenced by exemplary teachers who taught her the value of English and Literature. Though she did not pursue writing in college and instead went for the more traditional route of International Business inspired by her love for travel and all things foreign, after a move to New York City, she found her creative writing side calling once again. She began writing a restaurant review blog, City Lights and Tasty Bites, detailing her other passion – food! The hectic hustle and bustle of the city, combined with long commuting times gave her the opportunity to spend more time reading and rekindled a lost love. After reading countless books in many diverse genres over the two years in New York City, and returning to her home state of Florida, she felt compelled to write something for herself. She had always felt particularly drawn to Young Adult novels and having been an eternal romantic at heart, a fantasy romance was a natural choice. She currently lives in South Florida with her real life Prince Charming and their fur baby, Nico the German Shepherd.

Dark Fates: The Vampire Prophecy Book one
Holly, Excellent, Superb, book. This books story, absolutely slayed me. From the beginning it reeled me in, took control over my mind and kept hold, till the very last word was read. It was fascinating, descriptive, interesting, with the best characters. I loved the characters. They had dimension, personality, where likeable and relatable, with of course that one person (well vampire) you love to hate. The story line was creative, written excellently, with a lot thought behind it. There were no words thrown on paper here, no words just to make it longer nor words used as filler etc. Every word had meaning and purpose.

I found this book to be magical (no actual magic), it was romantic watching Solaris and Kaige falling in love. There was some violence, there's a prophecy, separation, rivalry, a law that humans and vampire don't mix. They're supposed too stay in their own areas. Vampire don't drink human blood they have synthetic blood made. Solaris and Kaige also discover a very dangerous scheme. All the elements of this book came together perfectly, to make a super book. It left me wanting more, so much more.

It ended on a cliff hanger, and I don't think the next book is out yet. When it ended like that I thought I'd die. I need the next book like now and I've been reading all night it's 4:30 a.m. but I'll tell you, if I had the next book, I'd start reading it right now. If you like paranormal books, I recommend this and if you're not sure, give it a try. It's truly a great book. I wish I could give you more, but I don't want to ruin the book for anyone.

I received this book from the Author, however I review the books I read on my own.

Just reread this for a buddy read so I can dive into book 2... I think it was even better rereading a second time through.

I freaking love this book! It was everything I was looking for. I was in a horrible slump just before reading this and honestly wasn't in the mood to pick up any book. I decided to try and push myself out of my slump and boy am I glad I did! This wasn't your typical vampire book. It had more of a fantasy vibe and less of a urban fantasy which I needed. The characters are well thought-out. I recently found out that since this was written by two authors each author took a different character and ran with them. The thing I loved about this book was that I couldn't tell the difference in the style of writing but I could hear each distinct voice of each character. I could probably gush about this book for several pages... but long story short, this book was filled with amazing world building, action, strong characters and a good slow-burn romance. I highly recommend this book.

Romeo and Juliet meets paranormal... why thank you, yes.

I picked up this book as a recommendation and buddy read and do not regret it one bit. It is now the second book written by G.K. DeRosa that I have read and will continue to read because they are such fun reads. I could not put this book down.

The forbidden love and angst between Kaige and Solaris is the type of romance I love to read and enjoyed it immensely. The multiple POVs create a lush storyline that allows the reader to see the growth of the characters and where their struggles truly lie. **fun fact- I did not know that there were two authors who each wrote a character and their POV, you would never guess it based on writing style.**

It's a good thing this book is a series or my next sentence would have been, "WHY DID IT END THAT WAY?!?!" But alas, there is more to the series... that I plan to read asap.

This is such a bad year for reading because I swear there's more books that are 3 stars or less for me than there have been in YEARS. Am I becoming too critical? Or am I just having bad luck picking new books?

Either way, I'm in a terrible rut because this is like book #6 in a row to just BITE.

Ha. Vampire pun. Ha. Ha... ugh.

This book is literally this: 100 years ago someone prophecized that a vampire (nocturne) and human falling in love would end the world (we're just hopping into this world, acting like vampires were just a normal everyday thing) so the two species separated and it's illegal for the two sides to have contact with each other or anything. A military guy's human daughter steals a plane and crashes it and she's found by the eldest prince of the nocturnes (who are literally just vampires) and there's some turmoil about treachery because of the prophecy and a blood bond is formed to facilitate instalove and then there's some conflict when the prince's evil brother finds the human and then she returns home only to be arrested because we found out that the human side and vampire side have some sneaky, shady business going on and she stole a plane full of that sneaky, shady business.

In other words, this story covers the span of like 4 days wherein we mostly just hear Solaris want to go home and think Kaige is hot and Kaige wants to eat Solaris and is afraid her being there will get him executed and leave the throne vulnerable to his evil twin. And then they're just all kinds of attracted and devoted and in love and it's like *sigh* here we go again. The entire reason the blood bond exists is because 4982309548230958 other vampire novels have used it and because it makes it super easy as an explanation for why two 18 year olds who have known each other for a few days are already kissing and having feelings.

The plot is just very contrived and it's been done before. It offers nothing special, it has no emotional punch, the plot is probably way predictable... it's just another terrible vampire book aimed at like 14 year olds despite having 18 year old protagonists.

It's not the absolute worst but like... I have 0 good things to say about it. It's merit is that it doesn't have anything I can really dig into and complain about at length.

I wouldn't recommend. You can find way better YA vampire books.

I absolutely loved this book. It had me hooked from the very first chapter. And I loved that it was told through dual points-of-view between Solaris—a kick-butt, strong-willed human who has a knack for getting herself in predicaments, and Kaige—a vampire prince who prides himself on being disciplined and always doing what’s expected of him. And then they meet and their worlds get turned upside down.

I could not stop reading this book. Once I started, there was no stopping until I reached the end. The words and story flow so easily, the world around you disappears and you find yourself right there with them in Draconis, watching the whole thing play out. With a mystery discovered, a prophecy hanging over their heads, and an attraction both Solaris and Kaige are trying hard to deny, Dark Fates has everything to keep you reading well into the night. Who needs sleep anyway when you’ve got great book in your hands? And believe me, this book is great and the ending will leave you begging for more. Well done G.K. DeRosa and J.N. Colon. Now bring on the sequel, cause I’m dying to find out what happens next.

Yee blood sucking gods. I could not finish this. Dark Fates honestly started out promising... And then just hit every trope. The writing, is a bit elementary and the main characters argue like hormone driven high schoolers.

"I don't like you" ( he's so handsome , and good, my vampire prince)

"I don't like you either" ( my fierce green eyed human. Mine!)

-but we cannot entertain being together because of the prophecy!!!-

"Surprises bitches!" Says the evil twin vampire brother. ( Yep, it went there...)

Annnnnnnd I'm done. I'm sorry I just cannot stand these types of romances. I mean I really enjoy love-to-hate relationships, but I can't stand when the author has them talk like they're 12 years old. Adults do not talk like this, or even think like this in their heads, for the most part...I hope.

Honestly, i think a lot of authors try to make their charterers sassy, and then the way people react to them comes off as... reverence? For being Sassy?? It's just odd because something that is so mundane it really sticks out because of how much worship is given for... Talking back or making a quip,or taking charge.

This book is soooo good. I'm not a vampire lover because a lot of the books are so similar, but I read everything by these authors. They've managed to write a story that is so incredibly unique in a genre where that's rare. I loved every moment of it. I love these two authors apart and was amazed how much they flowed together. I couldn't tell where one stopped writing and the other began. They blend so well.

Solaris is a bit crazy and I love her for it. She steals a plane and ends up crashing it and getting trapped in Draconis, the vampire's realm. If she's found there, it'll mean death. If she isn't, it could still mean the end of both worlds if the prophecy is true.
She didn't mean to cross the border and didn't mean to be saved by the mysterious prince. And she definitely didn't mean to feel something for him.
But she can't stay. It's the ultimate star-crossed lovers story.

You have to read this. Whether you love vampires or even if you don't. It's sooooo good. GK Derosa and JN Colon at their best.

A wild teenage girl steals her Dad's plane and flies into a unstable area called the Shadow Lands between nocturne territory and human territory. Solaris crashes the plane and breaks her leg also. While trying to get up to fix her leg a vampire, Kaige arrives on the scene. Is he going to kill her on the spot? Kaige decides to keep her hidden to find out why Solaris was in the Shadow Lands and takes her to a cabin in the woods. Things go wrong when his brother finds her. It is death to harbor a human and he uses that against them. I loved the writing and book. I received a complimentary copy of this book.

The story starts out very good and progresses to great then fantastic. So much goes on that I got so involved with Solaris and Kaige. She being headstrong and has a mind and will of her own. Him the prince of the vampires and soon to be King...if he gets through the trials.

This is fated love and one that grows to a great height. I felt the fear Solaris went through and the fight within her. I saw the admiration grow in Kaige to the human girl. The adventure of them getting back to the human side and him protecting and hiding her. A fight of emotions to not let the prophecy come true.

I received a free ARC for an honest review. I absolutely loved this book. The way the imagery is written makes you feel as if you were witnessing it first hand. The book is straight to the point, no nonsense, and told in alternating points-of-view between the human, Solaris, and the vampire, Kaige. If you like books about sassy and determined female lead characters, then you'll love this book. If you like books about brooding and conflicted heartthrobs, then you'll love this book. If you like books about vampires and forbidden love, then you'll love this book.

This was an excellent book. I love all things dystopian and this new series doesn't disappoint. The world building is amazing, rich in detail and history. The characters are endearing and three dimensional, Reading the alternating points of views makes sure that you get to know both protagonists. It's fast paced with vampire action packed in too. This was one that I didn't want to put down! I voluntarily received an ARC of this book.

Dark Fates is filled with action, suspense and romance. I could not put his book down, it grabbed me from the start and kept me entranced until the very end. I love the dynamics between Solaris and Kaige who are both strong and stubborn. The authors descriptive writing allows the reader to easily picture the story as it is unfolding. I am excited to read more in this series

This book is one of those books that I wish I could reread again and again to get all those first time chills and thrills as the characters embark on a dangerous mission and forbidden romance. And not only has the author written intriguing characters, but a suspenseful mystery fully of buried secrets that is sure to get everyone into deep trouble in book two. I highly recommend this book to you if you love young adult paranormal romance. I can’t wait to continue this series!

Ugh...

Really? That’s how it ends??? With a cliffhanger? I’m a romance reader, this book seemed to have hints of it but I’d not classify it in that category.

Brilliant

I really enjoyed this action packed first book. I did see some similarities to other vampire book stories but on the whole it has its very own well developed storyline and characters. Separated by prophesy humans live separately from nocturnes. It is a crime in both worlds to associate with one another is punishable by death. When Solaris quite literally falls out of the sky in a stolen plane she meets Kaige the Prince of darkness and heir to the Throne. A connection is formed between them, but there is some heartbreaking decisions made along the way. This is a very good first book of the trilogy and highly recommended.

This is an interesting and we'll written book. I really likes Solaris, she is tough, strong, and has really interesting skills. Kaige was the character that showed the most growth though and I liked that he actually did grow rather than stubbornly try to hold onto his beliefs.
Despite all the great elements though, I felt like there was just something lacking that kept me from truly being emotionally invested in the series. It was interesting enough for me to read the whole book but I didn't want to devour it and I don't think I'll continue to book 2.

*I volunteered to read and honestly review a free Kindle copy of this book*

Solaris is a headstrong female who is quick to take action, even if it leads to trouble. Stealing an ID from her father’s desk, she sneaked through the darkness into the hangar and made her way into the Cessna CJ4, the fastest single-pilot plane in the world. Everything about it was luxurious and expensive. For tonight, it would be hers – just for the thrill of flying it! She was airborne before the guards could get to her to stop her!

The Shadow Lands were a “no-fly” zone separating Imera from Draconis. She flew closer and over the 50-foot wall marking the area. Crossing into the vampire’s land is forbidden, yet she wants to see the legendary ruins while she can and flies closer to those places. A red light suddenly flashed and the console went dark as the plane flew into the side of an old building and crashed.

Solaris is found by Kaige, the vampire prince of Draconis, who is her polar opposite, being very controlled and disciplined in all he does. Yet he does not kill her outright. He sees boxes with Draconis markings in the back of the plane. Why would that be? But the plane catches fire and he makes the immediate decision to take her to a cabin that only his twin knows about. She may have the answers for him about the stolen boxes! Is there a conspiracy going on? Is one of the vampire’s working against them with the humans? And what will he do about Solaris who is injured. Were the old tales true that his blood could save her?

The description provided in this book is part of the charm because the reader can easily visualize the locale and the movement of the characters within. It makes the story line much more realistic and believable, which in turn heightens the suspense. It easily keeps the reader engaged, caring about the characters, and wanting to find out what else is going to happen. That’s what a good book does! This one grabs the emotions and lets the reader fly with Solaris and feel Kaige’s indecision and fear about what to do next. It was outstanding! I definitely recommend this book.

In DARK FATES, there's a prophesy that keeps the humans and vampires separate out of fear. It is said that a human/vampire relationship will bring on a war and the end of the world. Everyone believes this prophesy and human/vampire contact is forbidden, especially for the vampire prince Kaige.

When he discovers a human about to die from a plane crash, Kaige saves her in order to get answers out of what she's up to. The only way to save her is by giving her some of his blood, but neither of them expected a bond to form. Solaris never expected to meet a vampire, but Kaige is her only hope for survival and to get back home. The only question is if her trust is misplaced because vampires are dangerous and don't care for humans.

At first, I have to admit that I thought this was going to be another cliche vampire/human romance, but I was pleasantly surprised. I love everything about DARK FATES and cannot wait for the second one. There was action, romance, betrayal, and prophesy. I love every scene with Solaris and Kaige and the humor in their interactions. Solaris is fierce and her personality is so badass.

Final Verdict: I would recommend this to fans of vampires, paranormal romance, and prophesy.
