Nordic Royals #2

The Wild Heir

Rate this book
A ROYAL STANDALONE ROMANCE from the NYT Bestselling Author of The Pact, Bad at Love & The Swedish Prince

At first glance I probably seem like any good-looking guy in their late twenties. I have an obscene amount of confidence, a tattooed body sculpted by the Nordic gods, and I love the ladies as much as they love me.

If I’m not BASE jumping or car racing, I’m chasing other devious thrills with the woman of the week. And that’s fine if you’re the average single guy.
But I'm not the average single guy.

I’m Crown Prince Magnus of Norway and my latest scandal just landed my entire royal family in hot water.

Now the only way the monarchy can save face is for me to smarten up – publicly. If I don’t, I’ll no longer be heir apparent to the throne. So it’s either I abdicate my future role as King or…
I get married.
To a blue-blooded stranger.

Enter Princess Isabella of the tiny country of Liechtenstein.

Quiet, intelligent, and uniquely beautiful, Ella doesn’t like this arrangement any more than I do and she’s not afraid to show it. She says I’m a womanizer, that I don’t take anything seriously, that my ego should be taken down a few pegs, and I think she aims to make me miserable for the rest of my life.

But even as our arranged marriage becomes a war of wit and words, I’m determined to break through Ella’s prim and proper façade to find the wild, sexual and risk-taking woman underneath. I want to uncover the Queen inside her.

The only question is – will she let me?

**The Wild Heir is a standalone royal romance and a spinoff of The Swedish Prince but it is not necessary to read that book beforehand as The Wild Heir is about different characters**

If you've read The Swedish Prince, then you've met the Crowned Prince of Norway, Magnus. The title of this book fits him perfectly, as he's always been a bit... wild. I was so excited when I heard Magnus was getting his own book. I devoured this one! I read it the same weekend as the royal wedding and let me tell you, it was perfect timing!

Magnus is at a point in his life where he has to start making some big decisions. He can clean up his image and make some changes and carry on his path as the Crowned Prince, or he can continue to live life as he has and pass up the crown. He decides that the crown is what he wants. His parents decide that marriage is what needs to happen to change the way the people see him and take him more seriously.

Princess Isabella of Liechtenstein is the lovely lady that's chosen to be Magnus' Queen. She seems so timid, sweet, and quiet on the outside, but she's very outspoken and feisty when you get to know her. She's especially passionate about the things that matter to her, and just may be the perfect match for Magnus.

Magnus and Ella's chemistry was crazy and the sexual tension was out of this world. This was definitely a slow burn romance that was well worth the wait. This is one of my favorite couples Karina has written. I love these two together. I feel like they compliment each other so well, not just physically, but overall are just a perfectly, unlikely match.
“I’ve always had trouble focusing on the right things. I’ve had a hard time trying to pay attention to things in life that most people do. I’ve struggled to make sense of the way I see the world. But…when I see you, you’re all I see.”

The Wild Heir is steamy, swoony, fun, and gave me all the feels. I loved this book so much! For sure one of the best royal romances I've read! This one gripped me from the start and never let go. I adored it and highly recommend!

OMG we get Prince Magnus’s story 🤗🤗

We met him in the Prince of Sweden and holy shit, and of course I fell in love with another prince. One of these days I will be lucky enough to snag one of them 😝

I should know by now anything Karina Halle creates, I will love. Especially a prince. It’s always quite effortless, it always amazing, and this one quite stunning. Prince of Norway is a bad bad playboy and his parents, the King & Queen of Norway are quite tired of it. They’ve been embarrassed one too many times. So what better way to change their ever loving sexual hungry son before it’s his time to become King?? Arrange his marriage.

The journey of watching Magnus pick a bride and watching him maneuver through courtship is not only fun, but it’s sexy, and it’s so lovable. I couldn’t have wished for a better choice than Princess Isabella of Liechtenstein. Ella is beautiful, she’s pure, she is strong, and she doesn’t want any part of a marriage without love.

So what happens when her estranged father, King of Liechtenstein, approves of this arrangement, will she go against his wishes or will she try making it work with the Prince of Norway and hopefully fall in love someday and take the chance of never finding her happily ever after. Or is love staring Ella and Magnus right in the face?? Can these two lost souls find their happily ever after under such unique and challenging circumstances?

Definitely a read I recommend if you want sweet, you want royalty, and you want a once in a lifetime love 💕

I think I have a weak spot for fake dating/marriage of convenience trope. That book did combine them both together and it made a very Happy Em!

Magnus, the Norwegian prince, adrenaline junkie, and a huge playboy screwed up pretty bad this time by appearing on a sex tape. Now in order to improve his image, he has to marry someone sweet and royal. Here comes our sweet heroine who at first hated Magnus with passion.

This might have been the most enjoyable funniest Royal romance ever. It’s not like I read many royal romances, but I never though that they could be that fun to read. I loved the characters so much and how we get to discover them slowly. Their banters were so adorable. I was swooning so hard over them and how Magnus would try to woo Ella. I loved how this wasn’t such a cliche read. It was just a fun, steamy, swoony, and a really enjoyable read. I can see myself binge reading the rest of the series.

"So, love fiercely, Magnus. Love bravely. Love her with everything you've got."
Aaaahhhhh! SO. FREAKING. GOOD. Believe it or not, The Wild Heir was a down-to-earth, straight-forward, sexy love story. No gimmicks, no clichés; just pure romantic goodness!

So here's the plot in a nutshell, explained in the hero's own words:
"I fucked up with that sex video. Everyone hated me. Pretty sure that included my own family. I had to get married to someone royal and nice to improve my image."
This is where the heroine comes in; she's 'recruited' as his love interest.

I'm sure you're thinking I've lost my mind . . . no gimmicks, no clichés? Aren't there at least 3 in that little synopsis?

Surprisingly, no! Once you get past the initial premise of the story, you'll find that it's built on solid character development that's shown through actual dialogue and meaningful scenes between Magnus and Ella, both of whom I completely adored...

Magnus, the Norwegian Crown Prince, begins the story as an irreverent, impulsive manwhore who's been shirking his birthright for his entire adult life.
It was rare that I felt anyone was better off because of me.
The way the author peeled back the layers of his character was nothing short of brilliant. Believe me when I say that I fell for him hook, line and sinker, right along with Ella.
"I will always defend you, even from yourself."
We're talking serious book boyfriend material here, you guys! And that's just what's to be found on the inside . . . outside, well, just take a gander at the cover. That's exactly how he's described.

And our heroine, Ella, was just as wonderful with her sweetness and insecurities (which weren't overplayed, btw)...
I'm always the one tagging along, never feeling welcome. There's a reason I've been a loner for most of my life.
She's pretty addled by Magnus...
"I didn't say I wouldn't try and seduce you at every fucking turn," he tells me. "Because, believe me, that's exactly what I'm going to do."
...but she doesn't let him get away with anything. Being witness to his attempts to woo her was a joy. One minute I was swooning, and the next, I was in stitches with laughter.

I can't recommend this one enough if what you're looking for is an honest-to-goodness, laid back romance that's loosely rooted in an enemies-to-lovers/fake relationship trope. This one's going on my list of 2018 favorites!

PS: even though Magnus makes a few appearances in The Swedish Prince, this book can easily be read as a standalone.

^^You're welcome!^^

A completely over-the-top, unrealistic stand-alone HEA that got me givin' it 4.5-Stars?!?!?

Excited Meme 1

Yup, surprise, sur-mother-fucking-prise!!

Ok, so I'm usually not one to get into gushy romantic HEA's (cinderella is totally
not
my cup of tea) as you could probably guess. Needless to say, this gem of a novel sat on my "To-Read" shelf for quite a while until, out of desperation (and probably also from exhaustion of too many late nights) took over. Hoo-Ray for fucking me and my lapse of judgement!

🔥 - My absolute favorite aspect throughout the entire novel is the author's character development especially with the lead character, Magnus. He carries an important personality trait that starts out subtle and builds up through the storyline creating an important and unique aspect (I don't do spoilers so you'll just have to read it to find out what the hell I'm talking about here). Well done, Miss Halle, well done!

starts it for the romance. . .

🔥 - There isn't even a deep kiss until almost the 50% point of the book which normally has me DNF'ing a novel in the blink of an eye, but gotta say Miss Halle does it again with a good storyline and great chemistry between lead characters.

🔥 - There are a shit-ton of relevant characters in the story and this leads to great depth. Many modern authors can only carry 3-4 characters well in a fairly short romance novel, but Miss Halle is able to easily introduce 10 characters with ease which adds to the dynamic flavor. It's fucking awesome!

🔥 - FIRST KISS - LOVED IT!!

images-2
yup, it's a good one!

(going to have to read it *snark*)

🔥 - Magnus is beyond adorable, with a boyish personality that isn't grating whatsoever. NOT the typical alpha male asshole yet somehow still swoon worthy (another surprise considering how much I love my douchbag alpha male characters!).

☠️ - So why not the coveted 5-Star review?? It's just missing something. That oozing oomph (ya know what I'm talking about??!), that pure lust aspect that can't be described in words. Miss Halle is seriously almost there (so friggin' close with this one) but not quite yet. . . .she'll be hanging out with the best of 'em sooner than later.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Final Thoughts: All & all it is a full-on HEA that is so well written it is worth an immediate read and Miss Halle deserves to be on your author radar for sure. I certainly am looking forward to her upcoming novels for damn sure! Bottom line: READ IT!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I AM SO COMPLETELY OVERWHELMED!!!
I AM SO BREATHLESS!
I AM WRECKED BY THESE TWO!
I don’t even know where to begin! I feel fucked up with feels, giddy, intoxicated. I just can’t... a book hangover is happening right now! My gosh, I dreaded the end of this. I just didn’t want it to end. I was so IN THIS BOOK! I was just so INTO this couple. I was overpowered by them. It’s another level of yumminess. Another friggin level. And man, I ADORE the way Karina Halle writes her heroes. They’re all so different, yet so so so alpha and sexy and base and primal and MANLY! Oh the masculineness of Magnus. His filthy mouth. His rough edges. His soft heart.

I DIE OVER HIM!
I DIE A MILLION DEATHS OVER HIM!!!!

This is just the BEST royal romance I have ever read. It’s got all the feels. The awkward ones when Magnus and Ella meet. To the sweet and intriguing ones where a slowburn commences and a friendship is formed. And then you get to the ALL CONSUMING feels when that tentative friendship changes and becomes charged with a heavy sexual chemistry that BURNS you from the inside out. And it’s EVERYTHING!

Magnus is a bad boy Prince with one hell of a reckless reputation. At the start of The Wild Heir he finds himself in hot water with his family. A sex tape has been released of him with the Prime Ministers daughter. It’s not good. The Royal reputation is in ruins and his family is insisting that if Magnus wants to be King someday he needs to settle down and get married. If not, if has to abdicated. Those are his choices. Not wanting to give up his chance to rule and disappoint his father, Magnus knows there’s no way out of this situation, so he picks a Bride, which is Princess Isabella of Leichtenstein.... and HOLY SLOW BURN!!!!!!!

It’s ABSOLUTELY everything! The most decadent ride with all those magically giddy feels and a swift kick of angst that will keep you on your toes! What starts off as a rough go for both the Prince and Princess turns into something so heated and sexy and sweet and heartwarming! I could swoon for days and days and DAYS!!! It’s heart and romance, and I’m in love. I’m so in love I can’t even form coherent thoughts. Karina Halle outdid herself with The Wild Heir. It’s undoubtably one of my most FAVORITE books of hers. It’s just so incredible! Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop. Didn’t want to. Ella is such a soft hearted character with the best disposition there is. And Magnus is just a BEAST!

This book spoke to me. It was all consuming. I can’t swoon over it enough. You absolutely have to read it. If you don’t, you’re just missing out. And you should know... THIS IS A COMPLETE STANDALONE! It is a spinoff of The Swedish Prince, but Magnus had a very small roll in that book. The Wild Heir is a new Country, new King, new Queen, new characters. It barely interconnects with the character in the first book! So just read it! READ IT. READ IT!

I almost DNF'ed this book, as I couldn't care for the wild prince and his childish antics and I really disliked Emma's righteousness, but I persevered and managed to get to the end hoping for a turnaround... that didn't come. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

P.S.: I read this book upon the recommendation of Bec McMaster, one of my favorite authors. I love her books and she loved this book, so I thought I couldn't go wrong reading it, but alas, there's no logic to one's taste. I still love Ms. McMater's books, of course.

I read so many good review for this book. So i dive right into it. It is as expected. It was a very good story. Actually the story is plain. A prince must marry in order to save his image after scandal. Enter a naive, headstrong, loner princess and their world exploded. The side characters also give a kick into the story. Miss Halle done it again. She transform us into Norway. With fictional story of course.

I can relate to Ella character. How she feels alone but yet she is still a fighter. She is a spitfire with passion in environment issue. I love her. And Magnus is just a soft Norway bear. I want to cuddle him.

I have nothing to say, except that it was just okay, nothing to fan over, or even fuss...

Arranged royal marriage.
Opposite personalities.
And time on their hands.
To either fall in or out of love.

I guess you know what happened...😉

Like, I ve said, it was a okay.

A marriage of convenience trope... royal style...
Don't mind if I do.

description

Great read! I really enjoyed this one.
Loved the Prince.
He's wild... an adrenaline junkie... is he a manwhore? yes... is he hot? hell yes.

description

The Princess was so-so.
She was young... pushed away as a child... Daddy issues.
I think her immaturity was what I got snagged on. It definitely showed up.

Only storyline issue I had was that there just seemed to be a lot of elements going on at once.
Like, a lot.
But, that being said, I read this book rather quickly and didn't put it down except to sleep.

“When I see you, you’re all I see.”

After meeting Magnus in The Swedish Prince, I just knew that I had to read his book and see what this defiant Prince was up to.

And he's been up to no good as usual! The King and Queen are not too happy when a sex tape gets released and they've decided he needs to settle down and lucky him, they've come up with a list!

Magnus is torn. At first, there was no way he was going to even consider it but his Dad has been sick and things are not looking too good. He really wants to be a stand up son and do the right thing so he gives it a shot.

Princess Isabella is trying to live a normal life by going to college...unfortunately, things aren't quite working out that way. She tried to stay under the radar but everyone seems to know who she is despite coming from a very small country and with no real power. So when the opportunity arises for her to meet the Norwegian Royal family, she doesn't turn it down. Little does she know what she's gotten herself into.

However, when she gets all the information, she's torn. She's definitely heard of all of Prince Magnus' hi jinks and she's not a fan and there's no way she wants an arranged marriage. She wants to marry for love.

description

Her mind gets changed after speaking to her father and hearing how proud he is of her. She decides to give Magnus a chance...but with some conditions.

This was my favorite part - when they finally get to really know each other. I love all the tenderness and sweetness and how they were trying to deal with their real feelings...and their families.

Speaking of families, I really loved Magnus'. His sisters were really amazing and his relationship with both his parents was so sweet. There is one moment that really killed me though! :(

It was great having Viktor from the first book show up. He and Magnus made me laugh with all the trouble they got into!

Then, there's the drama...a little cliché but thank goodness for a certain someone coming to the rescue.

I was happy with the way things worked out but that epilogue? That was the best!

We also get to meet another interesting character. This time he's the King of Denmark, King Aksel, and he has a very intriguing back story. I really hope his story is next.

I kind of feel the same about this one as I did about The Swedish Prince, the companion novel to this one. Out of the two, I do prefer this one but I just have the same sort of mildly pleased but not massively impressed feelings about it.
The Wild Heir follows Magnus, the prince of Norway and heir to the throne. Magnus is a wild child and after a scandal involving Magnus and the prime minister's daughter hits the press, he has to save his family's image by marrying. This is how he meets Ella, a low profile princess who studies and cares about the environment.
I do love the characters of this one. Magnus is such an attractive character to me-I love tattoos, long, dark hair and stubble, so he is the perfect love interest for me to read about. He's also intensely witty and I laughed at loud during this book. Ella is also a great main character. She's very passionate about the environment and really stands up for herself and her beliefs. The side characters are okay-they're very funny, but some of them seemed a little caricature-like and not as real and vivid as the main characters. I was also not as forgiving of some of the character's digressions as I think the book wanted me to be by the end. (Ella's father is still in my bad books!) I did really enjoy seeing Viktor again, and especially Viktor and Magnus together. Prince bromances are one of my new favourite things!
This book had some very cute moments and I didn't think the sex scenes were too cringey or too frequent. All in all, I'm not sure this had any romantic elements that I haven't seen before, but this one is a very good example and was very well done. I think one of my issues with these royals books from Karina Halle is that they're very long for romances, and slower than I've come to expect from new adult books. The pacing is quite slow, it takes a while to pick up and I find that instead of spreading out the relationship issues, there's just a few all bunched together in the last 30%. It just makes it a little tedious in that last portion, where we all know it will work out but we have to sit through them being mad at each other for a little longer.
There is a really great thing in this book that could be a spoiler, although I don't think it's a huge one. It would be a great selling point so I wish it was more public knowledge.
Overall-a really cute one with an amazing love interest that just wasn't quite as exciting as I'd hoped.

Isabella is in her third year at University in Scotland. She is very passionate about environmental issues and she plans to pursue a career in this field when she graduates. She lives a pretty quiet life, is a bit socially awkward and doesn’t have many friends. Apart from her lady in waiting, Jane. Yes, she has a lady in waiting because Isabella is a princess. This means her social circle has become very limited as people don’t know how to be around her.

Magnus is next in line to the throne in Norway. His parents, the King & Queen, are at their wits end with their son after yet another embarassing display of his ill thought out behaviour has hit the tabloids. Enough is enough. He needs to settle down, marry a nice girl and realise that one day he will be King so it’s time to grow up and be the man he was destined to become.

An arranged marriage is the only option and this is how Isabella ends up being invited to the palace to meet the Royal family of Norway. Neither Magnus nor Isabella are happy with this proposed idea but standing up to their parents has always been a challenge to both of them so they agree to at least entertain the idea initially.

Magnus loves to live in the moment, he enjoys extreme sports and taking risks. He has a fantastic sense of humour, is quick witted and enjoys a party life style, which includes partaking in the pleasure to be found with a beautiful women. The idea of committing to one for the rest of his life is quite a daunting prospect but one he is willing to try with the beautiful Ella (Isabella).

Ella is less than enthusiastic than Magnus. Sure, he is a very handsome guy, has a gorgeous body and okay to look at…. But there has to be more than that for her to want to marry a guy. She needs love and commitment more than anything for a marriage to someone. Ella comes from a family where she is only girl among her siblings and her mother died when she was young. She has lacked the guidance of a mother and feels it even moreso now.

Magnus has grown up as the only son and the pressure of expectations on him are the reason why he acts out so much. Maybe being married will anchor him and help him prepare for what lies ahead for his future as King?

As these two navigate their way through a ‘let’s make the best of a crappy situation’ mindset to a friendship of sorts, they discover that they actually have more in common that they first imagined. There are many layers to each of them and Magnus has a way of peeling back Ella’s until she has no option but to bare herself to him – in every way…..

‘I bite my lip and smile at the effect I have on him. I want to ruin him and I want him to ruin me. The need, the power, is intoxicating. One day he’ll rule this country. Right now I want to rule him. See what it’s like to bring Magnus the Mad to his knees.’

I loved all the banter between Ella & Magnus, his vast vocabulary when he was describing his man parts had me laughing out loud so many times. I loved the passion between them, whether they were full on arguing or doing other things together… this was so much fun to read and I enjoyed every moment of it.

‘I’m lost in my feelings for her. And for the first time, I don’t want to be found.’

ARC provided by the author via Social Butterfly PR in exchange for an honest review.

If you thoght Karina Halle's royals could not get any better, I am very happy to tell you they absolutely do! After finishing The Swedish Prince I had high hopes that Karina would write Magnus story. He sounded like such a wild royal and, as the title of his book says, he surely is a wild heir. And what better way to see all sides of this man than when he meets his match in the woman he must marry to avoid more scandals in the family, am I right?

So, The Wild Heir is Karina's newest release and it can be read as a standalone novel. Still, Magnus made his first appearance in The Swedish Prince, since he is one of Viktor's best friends. Now let's focus on his story. Magnus is next to the throne in Norway and he is a scandalous prince. He loves extreme sports, he loves expressing his opinion and he loves women. Well, his latest scandal is too much for the royal family and now he has to find a solution. The solution? He has to marry a blue-blooded stranger: Isabella of Liechtenstein. The thing is Ella does not like him. Or that is what it seems.. Will Magnus be able to uncover Ella and let her see all his layers? Let's find out!

If I’m rattling her cage, she’s rattling mine. Only I’m not sure she’d like the animal inside of it.

I loved this story. I aboslutely loved it. Who does not love a royal marriage of convenience turning into a hell of a love story, right? Magnus and Ella are such a fantastic couple. I loved their banter, the funny moments, the surprises, the sexual tension, the relatioship between the royal family and the off-the-charts chemistry between the main characters. The Wild Heir had everything I enjoy in Karina's romances and it surely did not dissapoint with the couple this author delivered. They are amazing together.

I want to ruin him and I want him to ruin me. The need, the power, is intoxicating.
One day he’ll rule this country.
Right now I want to rule him.

The fairytale feel to this story made it even better. I love arranged marriages turning into real love and Magnus and Elle made me melt all over with the emotions they brought out in me. Yes, the tension and their connection was mind-blowing but when it got difficult and emotional? OMG, even better! To see these two fall in love and also discover all their layers together, it was so beautiful. It was great to see them fight for their love, to see them growing as individuals and as couple and to see them get their happy ending. Gah, I love a royal romance!

This woman is my fucking queen and I will never ever lose sight of that.

Therefore, my rating for The Wild Heir is 4.5 STARS because it was the perfect royal romance, with lots of awesome moments and a couple with lots of chemistry. I do wish the "romance" part of this love story was a little bit longer but, besides that, I loved every second of it! Magnus and Elle are perfect for each other and you don't want to miss reading their story, trust me! If you are a fan of Karina's or you love royal romances, be sure to check this one out.

I guess I wanted to be proven wrong...

I started The Wild Heir with very low expectations. See, I wasn't very impressed by my first meeting...or second with Prince Magnus. Such a self-absorbed, egotistical, risk taker who had no respect for his title or position. To be honest, I spent most of this story wishing for him to step up to the plate and be a better man. I couldn't give up though as there was this little spark of hope that kept me going on. The more I got to know Magnus, the more I saw him, and the wild heir became just a normal bloke who made some bad decisions.

I wasn't particularly fond of Magnus's need to share his wild side and what drives him to do the things he does. This is not because, well not solely because of his need to take risks, it was that deep down I knew it was a mask to the true problem. Of course, for story's sake, the heroine steps in and two seconds later realises the problem and helps to fix it. I had a feeling it was heading this way but I wasn't particularly happy or sad that I worked it out so early. He's 28...how could he not know?

I really liked Ella and her best mate, assistant, lady-in-waiting, "Lady Jane". Their connection to each other jumped off the pages and I loved their devotion to each other. The situation she was put into by her father and the lack of prior understanding of that position, made me cranky. Especially because it was at the beginning of the book and I was making squinty eyes at Magnus still. Ella's family isn't really what I would call a true family. Jane is the only person she can count on, and she's paid to be there for her. Ella is a good person despite her lack of family connection.

This was an entertaining story with some laugh out loud moments mixed in with a touch of heartbreak and a big old pile of lusty lust. I would call this one a slow burn and I'm glad that it was. Ella was too smart to instantly fall for the bad boy and I'm glad she made him work for her affection. At times I felt that the story was dragging and I was desperate to see Magnus make a change for the better. It seemed unrealistic that someone so famous could hide behind his very public "wild" mask.

I enjoyed The Wild Heir and I'm glad I got the opportunity to see Magnus in a different light. It was great to catch up with The Swedish Prince and I can't wait to know more about The Nordic King. I finished with a smile on my face and content that they were really meant to be together.

❝Go fuck yourself,❞ she says to me and then starts walking off down the hall.
Helvete. She's getting quite the mouth on her.
❝Stay nasty, Princess,❞ I call after her. ❝That's just the way I like you.❞

forget the fact the hero's funny, witty, sexy, charming, and sensitive ... but his favorite band is Deftones too? if that's not a custom-made book boyfriend, idk what is 🥰🤚

❝Stop!❞ I'm alternating between crying and laughing. ❝This isn't fair. Don't make me laugh. It hurts.❞
He grins at me, a softness coming over his eyes. ❝I've been wanting to make you laugh like that. You're so fucking beautiful, Ella.❞

i simply loved every minute of this <3

I'm at 50% and I've been at 50% for a good few days now so for the time being, this is going to be a DNF for me. I normally love this authors work but this one just isn't grabbing me (and I have tried). Although I like the main characters as individuals, I just don't feel a spark between them. Maybe I'll revisit at a later date but for now i'm going to shelve it.

"One day he'll rule this country. Right now I want to rule him. See what it's like to bring Magnus the Mad to his knees."

The Wild Heir is now one of my favorites by Karina Halle. I am not that big into romances about Royal figures, however Karina did such an incredible job with this book. Everything just fit together perfectly, from the super interesting characters to the way the main characters Ella and Magnus met and how their relationship developed. Magnus was a very intense character with a very colorful personality. He could be a bit too much at times, however Ella knew exactly how to handle him. When she first met him without knowing why she was even invited, she wasn't really impressed by him. She did her best to let him know that.

"She's become my focus in this crazy world. And I don't mind that one bit."

This was such a great story and I was hooked, and I didn't want to say goodbye to these amazing characters. Both were very unique and in normal circumstances these two wouldn't have come together. Magnus is the life of the party and a womanizer. Ella is more serious, however she has a very fierce side to her that always made an appearance when she was with Magnus. She knew exactly how to keep him on his toes. I loved the pace their relationship developed, because it felt very natural. It also gave me time to connect to both them as both individuals but also as a couple. It was mostly a light contemporary romance, but Karina added a couple of emotional scenes as well. There was some drama at the end, that in my opinion could've been left out. But in a way it made them realize how much they loved each other, so in the end I was okay with it. Read this book guys, you won't regret it! I also want King Aksel from Denmark to get his own story because I AM INTRIGUED by him.

"Ella is complicated and passionate and fierce. Just like you. You have a fierce Viking heard, handed down from your ancestors. So love fiercely, Magnus. Love bravely. Love her with everything you've got."

There is no hiding the fact I’m a Karina Halle fan. She publishes a book, I’m reading it. No matter the genre, no matter the blurb, no matter what.

I love a good marriage of convenience love story and more when royals are involved. And The Wild Heir by Karina Halle did not disappoint. It doesn't matter if it is a love at first sight or a slow burn romance, she's always great at creating blinding chemistry between her characters and she more than nailed it with this new story.

I loved Ella and her passion for the environment, which it's a topic I'm really interested in. But it was Crown Prince Magnus of Norway the one who stole my heart. He was one of those characters that just surprise you. He was not what I thought he was—his vulnerability owned me, his passion and heart left me speechless.

Karina Halle knows how to write sex scenes, but when she mixed them with a playful banter and dirty talk, she delivers PERFECTION.

As usual, I'm not going to spoil all the fun for you, so if you want to know more about Magnus and Ella and her marriage arrangement, you will have to read this book. I’m guaranteeing you a royally good time!

A slow-burning bliss, that's what The Wild Heir is. A story that fulfills all a romance lover could hope for—friendly bickering, sizzling hot chemistry, lovable major and second characters, angsty feelings, and heart—a lot of heart.

boring, super boring, ohhhh exciting.. then boring.

The Wild Heir was a wild bore. I didn't think that such a hot man cover would have been so boring to my eyes. For more than half of this book, yes you read that right, was so completely boring that I would rather watch paint dry for 3 months than re-read it. Then after getting past all of that nonsense - well, it got a lot better. Just not enough to raise my rating of it.

In it, you will meet Ella and Magnus. They are both royalty and boring. Their relationship was predictable throughout the entire story. I honestly didn't really care if they got a happy ever after or if everyone just eventually died off to the plague coming back.

Overall, it was meh. The title is so disappointing since nothing really wild happens in it. Even with Magnus being the "typical" bad boy prince.. he was pretty tame in the book. I just didn't see it. It was cute but very boring. I feel like I lost 50 years on my life and I'm 26.

Tropes;
Arranged Marriage
Forced Proximity
Reformed Playboy
Disability Rep - hero has ADHD
Dual POV

I enjoyed this book so much more than the first one. Magnus is the Prince of Norway and is basically a man slut. A sex tape he was involved in is leaked and so to protect the Royal Family reputation, his parents arrange for him to marry a nice respectful girl from another country’s royal family.

Enter Isabella, who is not very happy to be entering into this arranged marriage and tries to fight Magnus on everything.

I loved their relationship and how it developed into so much more. I wasn’t particularly fond of the third act conflict in this book as it just seemed silly but overall I loved this book.

After having read this from beginning to end, I’m surprised how much I liked it. I love the opposites attract trope so the blurb hooked me right away. I was a bit hesitant about the whole sex tape thing because lets be honest, IRL this would never fly. The idea that something so intimate is out there for anyone to see? Yeah definitely grosses me out and wouldn’t it just be too awkward to have that constantly looming in the background? Forever?

I thought the whole sex tape thing would have ruined this book for me but it helped that the scandal is mentioned in the beginning to kind of set up the back story of Magnus’ sudden need to marry and appear respectable and responsible. So we don’t get any in depth details and it’s mentioned only in the beginning and then the story (thankfully!) moves past that and really focuses on the emotional growth of the MCs.

I didn't really like Magnus in the begining, he was pretty loathsome when we first get introduced to him. He is an unrepentant manwhore who pretty much does what he wants when he wants without taking into consideration anything or anyone else. But when the scandal breaks, he finally realizes that he can’t continue down the path he is on. That his family and especially his father, are counting on him to shoulder some responsibility and to finally grow up. Enter Princess Isabella. She was one of a few candidates to choose from as prospective brides and from their first meeting, Magnus is drawn to her.

Isabella doesn’t want marriage and she definitely doesn’t want to be tied to a guy she doesn’t like. Everything she knows about Magnus turns her off and when she gets wind of why her father sent her to meet Magnus in the first place, she flat out refuses to have anything to do with his marriage proposal. She has plans that don’t in any way, shape or form, involve a playboy husband with such an OTT reputation.

The story really picks up after their initial meeting. Magnus goes from playboy man/child to a sweet and caring guy. Meeting Bella and finally accepting his role as the heir to the throne changes his view point and has him rethinking his outlook on life.

Honestly both characters grew on me pretty fast. I enjoyed their courtship so much, I was almost able to forget the whole gross sex tape debacle. And I probably would have if the mentally unbalanced ex hadn’t made an appearance again. The baby bomb felt a bit out of place and OTT. Definitely used for the sake of drama. It’s wasn’t drawn out and things were easily resolved soon after so bonus points for that.

In the end, I still liked the love story (minus the OW stuff) and it was both sweet, funny and the chemistry was definitely there. I loved that Magnus turned out to be such a great Hero. He was patient, kind, protective and 100% committed to Bella. His evolution from douchebag to Hero was what made the story for me. Bella was also really great. She didn’t give in to Magnus easily and she didn’t let anyone push her into something she wasn’t comfortable doing. Their friendship was another highlight in the story and made everything that much better.

Would I recommend? This is a hard one because it had it’s good moments and it’s bad. I would consider it safe with exceptions. All OW stuff was prior to the h and the H really does change for the better. I gave it a shot because it was a freebie.
