The Marians aren’t the only ones finding their happy ever after! In this collection of four short stories, some of our beloved secondary characters from the Made Marian series steal the show and find a love of their own. These stories range from 7k to 10k words and feature plenty of laughs, Marian cameos, and steamy nekkid bits. A suggested reading order can be found in the Look Inside, but you do not need to have read any other Made Marian novel to enjoy these stories. Please be aware that two of these stories can also be found in the Made Marian Collection bundle.

Brad's Story:When Brad opens his Vegas hotel room door to find a hot police officer waiting on the other side, he assumes crazy Aunt Tilly has sent him a strip-o-gram. But instead of getting naked, Detective Gorgeous pulls out his cuffs. Turns out, the badge and uniform aren't just props, this cop is the real deal.

Beck's Story:After touring around the world, sleeping with fans after sold-out concerts, Beck is still unsatisfied in the bedroom. Men, women, men and women? He doesn't know quite what he's looking for when he enters an exclusive club to find some company for the night. But two sexy strangers begin dancing with him at the same time, and Beck finally begins to realize that it might not be variety he's after, but just the right set of lips whispering sexy words into his ear.

Keller's Story:After telling Tilly to back off her attempt at setting him up, Keller catches sight of the nude model for the old lady's art class. Did he speak too soon? Meanwhile, stand-in model Eli is regretting his decision to strip down for a group of senior citizens, but then meets the manager of the vineyard and realizes being naked might not be so bad after all. Especially when things get wet... like really very wet... with hoses.

Josh's Story:After moving from Denali, Alaska, to San Francisco in order to branch out, Josh hosts a big poker night for the Marians and his co-workers at the National Park Service. Little does he know, his own true love may not be someone new after all. Eight years ago, Cyrus Dimakos had to leave the love of his life to take care of his great-grandmother on a remote island in Greece. A family obligation may have kept Cyrus's body away from Josh all this time, but his heart never left him. Could it be that The One That Got Away is finally back for good?

It was going to be 2 stars until the Wilde name was dropped and i was so excited because;

description

Now, i think it is time to get on board/go with the flow and accept these Marian shorts are just about hooking up. I just wish there was more story.

description

The sex scenes are hot! Just please! when you have just come from a club.

description

Good thing no Tilly! yay. I would love to read more about Beck and Quinn, kinda liked them.

Merged review:

Ugh! it had potential! real potential!

Then! instead of Keller and Eli we get dirty talking Grannies half the book!

description

The Grannies have overstayed their welcome! Please they gots to go!

Do Grandmothers talk like this?

“Hot piece of ass, I’ll tell you what. He can guard my body any damned time he wants to. And those eyes? Jesus Christ what I wouldn’t give to have him staring at me with those fuck lasers,” she said. My head whipped around to find the source of the foul language. They landed on a tiny woman who had to be at least eighty-five years old and no more than five feet tall with close-cropped white curls.

She continued. “Irene, you’d be up for a threesome with Derek, wouldn’t you sweetie?”

“Great nephew, my foot. You grab that man’s ass every chance you get. What about the rest of us? Stop hogging all the man meat around here.”

Tilly put down her brush and turned to the woman. “Fine. I’ll start flirting with Tristan then. How about that?”

The little old lady narrowed her eyes at Tilly. “Dammit, Tilly. He’s my grandson.

Gross.”

description

Marians, it was nice knowing you all, but i can't stand the Grannies anymore. Bye! i will be hanging out with the Wildes, at least the Grandpas, have a clean mouth.

Made Marian Shorts by Lucy Lennox is a compilation of four short stories on four secondary characters from the first three books in the Made Marian series.

BRAD
Brad is introduced in the first book, Borrowing Blue, as the fake date of Blue’s ex boyfriend, Jeremy. Brad gets roped into driving crazy Aunt Tilly, Irene and Granny to Vegas. When they get there all he wants to do is sleep but gets interrupted by a knock on the door from a very sexy cop. He’s convinced that he is a stripper hired by his three charges. But nope, this is a real live officer. This is a fun, sexy story complete with an epilogue. I was dying to know Brad’s story and why he was there with Jeremy so I loved this!

BECK
Beck is the drummer for the world famous band, Jude and the Saints. We know from Jumping Jude that Beck has been enjoying his stardom by sleeping with just about anyone, men or women. He’s never quite satisfied though. Something is always missing. So on this particular night, he’s in an exclusive club looking for a hook up for the night when a man comes up behind him on the dance floor. One touch and Beck is lost. He hasn’t even seen his face. This is a very steamy short story and I enjoyed Beck and Quinn. It did come to an abrupt ending, though, so no HEA. Just a HFN. I would most definitely be interested in a full book on these two if there ever is one.

KELLER
We first met Keller in Borrowing Blue. He works at the Alexander Vineyard for Tristan. He’s a bit shy and awkward. Eli Nash is an artist whose twin brother talked him into going to the vineyard and posing as a male model for a group of senior citizens there for a weekend art session. Their first meeting was awkward but every time Eli and Keller saw each other, the sparks were flying. This was cute and sweet. Of course Aunt Tilly is up to her usual shenanigans.

JOSH
We first met Josh Little in book two, Taming Teddy. Now Josh has left Danali, Alaska and moved to San Francisco. He is lonely and just wants to find someone to care about. On this particular night, Josh is hosting poker night with all the Marian men and some of his work colleagues. Only there is an unexpected guest. Someone from Josh’s past. Someone he hasn’t seen in eight long years.

All four of these shorts are sweet and sexy. All can be read and enjoyed, even if you haven’t read the story the characters originated from. I think my favorite of them all was Beck. It left me wanting to know more about them and to experience more of them as a couple. I did enjoy all of these though.

This series would be so much better were it not for the pages upon pages of sexual innuendo spewed by little old ladies. Not only is that shit not funny, it's fucking offensive and totally unbelievable.

I am all for seniors having sex; your life doesn't have to end at 65. My 70-year-old mother loves to watch telenovelas because she has a thing for cute Mexican boys, but she doesn't go around talking about their dicks and asses.

Never mind that Eli is a nude model, and nude modeling is about art. It's NOT porn; it's not sexual. Artists are professionals. Nude models come in all shapes and sizes and ages; learning to find beauty in any human body is the point. In real life, one snide remark about the body of the model will get you kicked the hell out of class and possibly banned from the program.

The old-ladies-talking-dirty scenes in this book were so OTT, they completely ruined the story for me.

Keller and Eli barely meet before the book ends, rather abruptly at that.

My rating is closer to 1.5 stars, rounded up, because I do see the appeal, but this author is most definitely not for me.

**** Four short stories that gives us the love stories of the side characters in this marvelous series. You do not have to read the whole series to enjoy these wonderful stories.

Four sexy short stories...
* BRAD, takes the grannies to Las Vegas and finds his own hot cop.

* BECK Wilde, Jude's band member, is looking for a night of passion; they found each other on the dance floor, then Quinn takes him home.

* KELLER, works at the Vineyard. Eli is modeling for the senior painting class. Eli and Keller are just as hot as they are adorable.

* JOSH, Park Ranger from Denali, Alaska was left alone by Cyrus, because Cyrus had family responsibilities 8 yrs. ago. Now, he's back and the sparks fly immediately.

Terrific, entertaining, sexy and fun ! ENJOY !

What a fun way to revisit the Made Marian series. Even though I barely remember any of these side characters, I still enjoyed it. Just goes to show, you don't need to have read any of these novels to get something out of Made Marian Shorts.

Fans of Michael Dean will enjoy his performance here as well!

Hot and cute characters as always! I really like how this writer creates their personalities!
The story is short, so is not a lot about be fond of ... maybe if it would be longer!

Personal opinion: As always, I CAN´T STAND the grannies! Sorry, but I don´t find them funny at all! Personally, I would feel upset if some strange people talk about my body parts the way they speak about all the male characters in their presence.

“We came to gamble. Now, give us a ride to the casinos, Detective Delicious. We booked a room for you at the Bellniño so you two can roll each other’s dice while we play the slots,” Tilly said”

I enjoyed this solely for the purpose of THREE HORNEY OLD LADIES I’m afraid to say. Miles was way to “blushing” for a homicide detective in my humble opinion. Maybe it was all just too fast for my taste. I still enjoyed it. Of course. But not has much as Blue’s story.

And of course we all know my issue with ginger don’t we. Hehehehe

This would be so much better if it weren't for the over the top filthy mouthed shenanigans of the old-lady squad.

Look, I'm all for a bit of shenanigans, and, frankly, I've had a good time when they show up in moderation in the longer novels, but in these shorter novellas it's far too much for me and ends up dampening my enjoyment of the story.

Otherwise - it's much of the same with insta-love, hot sexy times, and promises for the future. Like I said, I would have enjoyed it more if not for Tilly and crew. If they had only been in one or two scenes I think I would have enjoyed this far more.

This made my day. Though I should have read it later on in the series, oops. I love when authors do these kinds of stories. Keeps you connected to the world they created.

OK at the end of this one I totally did the Home Alone face. You know what I mean and you will too after reading this. Needless to say, there is no doubt what I'm reading next. Hope more books come out soon.

Brad's Story
I was glad Brad got a story but I was low key hoping he would end up with Keller, alas that is not the case. Yet I am not sure how he wound up recruited by a bunch of crazy, old ladies to chauffeur a Vegas trip. A weekend filled with endless sex and then a long distance relationship ensues. I was glad to see Brad get an HEA and even more excited that these old ladies were the ones to make the whole meet cute happen.

Beck's Story
In a surprise twist, I actually really enjoyed this brief, sexy hook up. While Beck getting a story was rather random, as he was barely mention and his bisexual was an off handed comment in Jude's story, I enjoyed the encounter he has with Quinn. They are both just looking for a hook up in an exclusive club. The story was super sexy and their chemistry so explosive, they decide to go on a date. Plenty of sexy times, no rushed romance or insta-love, and hope that Beck finds and HEA with Quinn down the road.

Keller's Story
Keller's story had so much potential and honestly out of all the spin-offs, I was looking forward to his the most. But then we had to hard core push the crazed Granny agenda again and it is getting so old so fast. Like I get it, if you are trying to break up sexual tension or whatever, you try to add humor but whoever told Lucy Lennox these old ladies were funny, LIED. The hook-up was cute, it had enough build up and chemistry but their was no depth and ended abruptly. So I guess they are happy-for-now and going to try dating long distance? The story lacked closure, if we could delete the Grannies and give me more substance, I'd be 100% on board.

Josh's Story
I was confused as to why Josh was even getting a story, seeing as he wasn't exactly a memorable character. But this spin-off lacked serious substance. Josh is pinning for his high-school sweetheart and literally waits 8 years for him even after he broke his heart? This is where I have issues with second-chance romances. As soon as Josh sees Cyrus he basically jumps back into bed with him and they ride off into their happily-ever-after. I find it hard to believe that neither character changed over 8 YEARS! We even find out the half-*ss reason Josh was so into Jamie, overall this left me feeling very meh.

Brad haha ok this was funny because the grannies got him to drive them to Los Vegas and get mixed up with a cop so they totally set the hot cop up with him and it was cute how he stammers all over himself. It was a sweet little short and I am glad we got it.

Beck is Jude’s bandmate and this one night stand turns in to something so much more. They find themselves meeting up on a dancefloor that could have been a threesome but turned into a twosome. It was hella hot.

Keller works at the vineyard and he stumbles across the grannies having an art class. This is where he meets Eli the nude model this short what hilarious and even though Eli isn’t usually the model his confidence was awesome!
Oh, the grannies I swear you will be cracking up.

I was most excited about this book! Josh, we remember from Teddy’s book where he was a Park Ranger. Well, we learn about his past with Cyrus who has to go away and be with his ailing grandmother. Only to return 8 yrs later and their connection is still alive and kicking. Sigh, I love a HEA!

Awesome add to the series. Keller finally get his story and happy ending. We met Eli when he shows up at the vineyard and throws Keller into a adorable mess. Can't wait for the next.

Another great add to the series. Loved Beck and Quinn! Crazy hot, sexy one night stand turns into more then they thought. Their connection jumps off the page for sure and the last line in the book? Wow, definitely surprised me and leaves me wanting to read the next!

Another great add to the series. This is a collection of all the amazing shorts in the series that add more with the side characters. Can't wait for the next. Here are the 4 stories and the order they are in for the Made Marian Series:

Brad (Made Marian #1.5): Here we get the back story on Brad and why he was at the vineyard in the first place in 'Borrowing Blue'. When I first met Brad I didn't like him, I was pro Blue 100% so I'm happy for this short story so we can get Brad's point of view and what really was going on. It's definitely eye opening and hilarious, in the end you'll love Brad and his main man Miles Bell as much as I do.

Beck (Made Marian #3.4): Loved Beck and Quinn! Crazy hot, sexy one night stand turns into more then they thought. Their connection jumps off the page for sure and the last line in the book? Wow, definitely surprised me and leaves me wanting to read the next!

Keller (Made Marian #3.5): Keller finally get his story and happy ending. We met Eli when he shows up at the vineyard and throws Keller into a adorable mess.

Josh (Made Marian #7.5): We finally get to see Josh get his man; Cyrus. This is a sweet heartwarming shirt about second chance at true love. Get to see past favorites like Hayworth, Jamie and Teddy along for the ride. Also some past questions are answered which made this come full circle.

This was book 3.5 in the "Made Marian" series. This was a short quick read about Keller who we met in book 1 he works at the resort for Tristian who is his bestfriend who he has had a crush on for years. Keller set back and watched Tristian fall in love with Blue and marry him. Keller wants that for himself so when he walks in on the old ladies art class with a real live male nude model he is shocked. Eli is filling in for his twin brother Reed when he first sees Keller he likes what he sees. I really liked both of these character's and the old ladies were funny as ever. Eli and Keller get off to a not so great start and when Keller sees Reed kissing his girlfriend in the lobby he jumps to conclusions. I wanted more out of this book like "Brad" we got to see them months down the line with this book we don't. This short story was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

This was a short quick read that I wished was longer. Beck is the drummer for Jude's band The Saints he knows that there is something missing in his life he goes to a club looking for a hook up not just a hook up but a threesome. Quinn is also at the club looking for a hook up when he sees Beck sitting at the bar he knows he has to have him. While out on the dance floor they get hot a sweaty along with another guy but Beck puts the brakes on the three of them hooking up he only wants the hot alpha male that is Quinn. This was a good short read that I wanted more it ends after Quinn tells him his last name. I hope that Ms. Lennox writes a full length book about these two. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.

OH so much better than Brad (the first coda/novella) IMHO. This was a fun and sexy story, and I am glad Keller got a HEA (even if he was a bit of a douchecanoe in Borrowing Blue). The Grannies were still over-the-top, but I've come to expect that at this point.

Loving this series and this author!! More please!!

Merged review:

Loved these even more the second time around!! Typical of Lucy's writing, these are super hot, sweet, emotional and witty. There are 4 wonderful stories based on characters who have made brief appearances in her Made Marian series. However, they are completely standalone. You do not have to read the books in order to read these. If you've never read Lucy's books before, this is a great place to start to get a feel for her writing of which I am a huge fan!! They were previously available on her website.

More from the Marians? Yes, thank you.
It is almost like coming home to read about these characters who were touched in some way by the Marians in prior books.
These are sexy and beautiful stories that touch the heart and tickle the funny bone. And the spicy scenes? Oh, my!
The author doesn't need a full novel to get her point across. These shorts have everything the reader needs to understand each character and the joy and pain of falling in love or of reclaiming their lost love.
I love this author.

RECENSIONE A CURA DI EVELYNE
Ricordate la serie “Made Marian” e tutti i suoi personaggi?

I’ve only read the first book so only two of the characters made sense to me so far, Brad and Keller. Nice, short, simple and each deserving of their own love. Especially Brad for having to put up with Jeremy. Nice to see the Marians around as well and I’m looking forward to reading the second book.

Fun little novellas revolving around the Marian crew. Though it was enjoyable, I tend to prefer continuations rather than new characters. And all of these were vignettes centered around four different secondary characters from the Made Marian series.

Short & Sweet (an audio review)

It has been about a year since I listened to the first six ‘Made Marian’ audiobooks in just over a week. That was a truly wonderful binge. Later, I listened to the seventh – the Christmas book. (I loved it even though I don’t normally enjoy Christmas books.) When I saw the short stories that take place between the main books had been gathered together, I was excited. On audio? With Michael Pauley narrating?

How fast could I snap them up?

Now, it has been a while since I listened to the books, but the main characters in these short stories were secondary characters in the big books. My memory of them might have been fading, but the stories in this anthology have now cemented these cool guys in my mind and heart.

Brad's story
Now, for Brad. Well, how surprised was I to find Aunt Tilly in the centre of this book? With Irene and Granny along for the ride? Of course I was thrilled to see the lesbian octogenarians following the insane and fabulous Tilly. I hope I have half the spunk of these ladies when I hit their age.

Poor Brad was brought to Tristan Alexander’s vineyard under false pretenses and quickly discovered he needed to leave. Aunt Tilly decided to inveigle herself into his escape and the next thing he knows, he’s shepherding the three women to Vegas. In Vegas, he figures when a hot cop turns up at his hotel door, it must be a stripper sent by Tilly. He invites the hottie in to give him a strip show.

Miles is shocked when the gorgeous sleep-rumpled man invites him into his hotel room to strip. And since he’s met Tilly, he has his suspicions. As a reader, I’ve learned just how much trouble that woman can get into. Miles had nicknamed the three women after the three stooges, so he’s not surprised to find things are not as they first appear.

There is a complete ignition between the two men, but it takes a crisis to bring them together. And sexy times ensue.

Now, these are short stories, so insta-love is pretty much necessary, but Lucy knows how to make this work. Miles and Brad just work, although their taste is questionable.

Pineapple on pizza? Really, guys?

And the night the two men chaperone the three women as they go out on the town? As Miles says, it’s like ‘herding cats’.

Brad is such a sweet guy and I was so glad he met someone as considerate as Miles, someone who sees the real Brad and is willing to love the man.

There’s a happy ending, of course, that may or may not involve handcuffs? Gotta love it.

Beck's story
I understand being lonely. Being willing to accept ‘just for tonight’ rather than being alone.

Beck is the drummer for Jude & the Saints, so he knows celebrity. He’s watched Jude Marian’s very public love affair with his bodyguard Derek, and although Beck heads to a known underground swingers’ club believing he wants a threesome, what he discovers is completely different. His plan is turned on its head when he finds something else – something unexpected. Something “bigger, older, and stronger”. Amazingly, Beck isn’t even referring to c-ks.

Quinn observed Beck and found what he was looking for. He had come to the club named Vegas to find something different. Asking the hot man on the dance floor for a one-night stand? A no-brainer. Not asking for more? That turns out to be much harder.

Insta-chemistry? Yep. Hot sex? OMG, yes!

These two men really are made for each other. I recognized Quinn’s last name and I plan to do more research…

Keller's story
I was surprised this story started in Eli’s point-of-view. All four of the short stories have Lucy’s preferred alternating chapters, each in the main character’s voice. Usually it is the named character – the one who is already known to Marian fans – who leads off the story. The choice of using Eli’s perspective worked for me, though. I loved the circumstances under which he met Keller, and surprise surprise – Tilly, Granny, and Irene are involved. In fact, it is Tilly and her crew who begin a frank and beans comment, pointing out that Eli is “hung like an ox”. I’ve never checked out bovine genitalia, so I’ll take their word for it. Eli knows Keller is watching him as he models nude for a room of octogenarian women, so he makes sure he shows off his physical form to perfection.

But Eli doesn’t normally spend his time modelling – he has a greater passion, and when Keller stumbles upon him engaging in this passion, Keller is intrigued. And Eli is singing ‘Chasing Cars’ by Snow Patrol, which is one of my favourite songs. Keller is smitten. Who wouldn’t be?

A miscommunication almost derails the relationship, but saner heads prevail and the men forge something special. Keller is, after all, no dummy. When Tilly tells him, ‘who said anything about dating? Just f-him already,” Keller takes the sex advice and risks his heart as well. Add in mud, a crazy dog, hoses, and lots of male nudity and you will understand why this is a great story.

Josh's story
When I read about the short stories being pulled together for an anthology and then the anthology coming to audio, Josh’s story was the one I was most looking forward to. I didn’t read the synopses (I’m eccentric that way), so at the beginning of each story, I hoped it was Josh’s. As much as I loved Keller, Brad, and Beck, I was thrilled when I finally got what I had been waiting for.

I adored Josh in the novel ‘Taming Teddy.’ Dr. Jamie Marian lived in Alaska – Denali National Park in particular, and the wilderness suited him. He was searching for isolation and he found it. Falling in love with Teddy was never part of the plan and it meant making big changes in his life, or at least major changes, if he wanted to have more. More meant moving south.

Josh believed he loved Jamie, but once he sees the Marian man with Teddy, Josh is finally able to admit it was more of a crush. More of a longing. A longing or yearning that is painfully acute because every day for the past eight years or so, he has been thinking of his first love, Cyrus.

Cyrus had reasons to cut ties with Josh, thereby cutting out part of his soul. His memories of his time with the love of his life are heartbreaking and revisited in a series of flashbacks. Some readers don’t like flashbacks, but if they are done well and are appropriate, they can contribute to the story. Lucy chose perfect memories for the men to revisit. I was able to see the love between the two men. The parting was painful enough, but their reunion – to me – was even more so.

Cyrus shows up at Josh’s while he’s hosting a party of his male friends, including his casual sex partner, Heyworth, as well as Jamie and Teddy who are now married. Cyrus’ arrival shocks Josh, but there is something more personal about Cyrus that has the group coming to a realization and providing an explanation for Josh’s infatuation with Jamie.

Understanding Josh needs privacy to cope with Cyrus’ precipitous arrival, the men take their leave, but not before Heyworth tells Josh, “Call me if he bails”. This almost redeemed the man in my books and I would like to see him get a happy ending.

Knowing his arrival would be impactful, Cyrus believed he had prepared himself for every contingency, but the depth of Josh’s pain surprised, I think, both of them.

As the men begin to get to know each other again, Cyrus asks Josh why he is working at Alcatraz. He has always envisioned Josh living in nature, not the busy city of San Francisco. When Josh admits he was “so very lonely”, and he “just wanted someone to touch me”, I might have teared up a bit. I understand that kind of loneliness. The kind where the yearning for touch is so strong that it is tangible. I have been there. I understand how you might make the choice to be with someone you don’t love just so you’re not so lonely. I have also lived up in the Yukon, the Canadian counterpart to Alaska. It is incredibly isolating and otherworldly. It takes a hearty person to live up there. Heading south is an understandable response.

Josh has secrets of his own, including his new language abilities. I love that these two men held their love close to their hearts for all those years. I also love that they are both comfortable in nature. The trappings of civilization hold no sway for them while the wild calls to both of them.

As with all these stories, Josh gets his happy ending. Unlike the others, where insta-love and hot sex were critical, this is a story where a second chance at love pulls at my heart.

And, of course, there is hot sex.

These are lovely stories and I’m so glad they have been brought together.

Finally…Michael Pauley. He has narrated all of Lucy’s books and we listeners are so grateful these two found each other. Michael has voices for each of the Marian men as well as all the secondary characters in the series – and there are a lot. He also gives a credible performance of Tilly, bringing her to life for me. Well done.
